Ajax headers

Is there any way I can alter the headers that the application transmits? Currently mine are showing as:
"headers":{"referer":"app:/myapp.html","accept":"*/*","x-flash-version":"10,1,85,3","accep t-language":"en-US,en","user-agent":"Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; en-US) AppleWebKit/531.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) AdobeAIR/2.5","accept-encoding":"gzip,deflate","host":"myhost:8080","connection":"Keep-Al ive"}
In particular the referer and user-agent.
Thanks.

Hello,
I believe this is doable.  Please take a look at this post and the URLRequestHeader documentation for more details.

    My wife has left me for four weeks, favouring to be with our son who lives 4,000 km away. I now have to cook for myself and the steaks taste horrible. What am I doing wrong?
    If you do not know what I have (not) done to make the steak taste horrible, my question is as hard to answer as your question above.
    Please give us more info like giving us the code that sends the page to the homepage rather than to the previous page.

  • Group Tree: Error in Ajax response - message: missing } in XML expression

    Hi,
    We were using a previous version of Crystal libs and viewer. I wanted to get up to date with the latest jars and viewer so I downloaded and installed the version with Eclipse 3.4.1 and crystal development bundled together.
    I've copied the new jars from there into my existing project. I've also copied the folder cyrstalreportviewers into the project. We're using Tomcat 6.
    I've now got a problem with the Group Tree at the moment since I started using the latest libraries and crystal report viewers.
    My web.xml looks like this.
            <context-param>
              <param-name>crystal_image_uri</param-name>
              <param-value>/crystalreportviewers</param-value>
         </context-param>
         <context-param>
              <param-name>crystal_image_use_relative</param-name>
              <param-value>webapp</param-value>
         </context-param>
            <servlet id="CrystalReportViewerServlet">
              <servlet-name>CrystalReportViewerServlet</servlet-name>
              <display-name>CrystalReportViewerServlet</display-name>
              <servlet-class>
                   web.servlet.ReportingViewerServlet
              </servlet-class>
              <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
         </servlet>
           <servlet-mapping id="CrystalReportViewerServletMapping">
              <servlet-name>CrystalReportViewerServlet</servlet-name>
              <url-pattern>/CrystalReportViewerHandler</url-pattern>
         </servlet-mapping>
    A request to the uri https://......../WebApp/CrystalReportViewerHandler?id=3
    The servlet doesn't do anything that seems to be uncommon. I can post more precisely what it does if needed.
    The report will load correctly, I don't get an error page asking if my crystalreportviewers/ path is accessable to the server.
    I get a parameter page asking for a value. I enter that and click OK.
    The viewer sends a POST request to my Servlet and is handled correctly.
    The report is then loaded.
    On the click of an item in the Group Tree it sends an Ajax POST request and I then get the following error:
    message: missing } in XML expression
    fileName: https://localhost:8080/WebApp/crystalreportviewers/allInOne.js
    lineNumber: 10
    stack: ()@:0

    ([object Event])@https://localhost:8080/WebApp/crystalreportviewers/allInOne.js:10
    name: SyntaxError
    Clicking on the Groups headers on the right hand pane work as expected. Although I notice they are not Ajax requests.
    I've spent a few days at this now and I feel like I'm running out of options but to revert back to the previous version we were using. I presume this works elsewhere so I've got to be doing something incorrectly with my setup.
    If anyone needs more info then please ask.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Hi Ted,
    Thanks for your reply.
    That's our own Servlet. It extends javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet
    doGet does the following stuff:
    Creates a ReportClientDocument.
    Sets the ReportAppServer to "inproc:jrc".
    Opens the report as read only.
    Gets the DBController and calls logon on it.
    Then calls replaceConnection.
    Adds some discrete param values.
    Creates a CrystalReportViewer.
    gets the report source from the report client document.
    sets the report source on the crystal report viewer.
    set own page to true.
    sets the report source in the session.
    The crystal Report Viewer then processes the Http Request.
    doPost:
    gets the report source from the session.
    creates a CrystalReportViewer.
    sets the report source on the crystal report viewer.
    set own page to true.
    The crystal Report Viewer then processes the Http Request.
    One thing I changed in there was the way the data source was changed. It used to loop through tables.
    Tables tables = clientDoc.getDatabaseController().getDatabase().getTables();
    newTable.setQualifiedName(qualifiedName);
    clientDoc.getDatabaseController().setTableLocation(origTable, newTable);
    Now it does this:
    DatabaseController dbController = clientDoc.getDatabaseController();
    dbController.logon(username, password);
    dbController.replaceConnection(new ConnectionInfo(), connectionInfo, null, DBOptions._useDefault);
    If you need more info please do let me know. Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    I believe one of two things are happening, either when the webpart is refreshing, it is a simple ajax call and not a pull page reload, or on the post back, for some reason the list is loading slow enough that your document onReady call is firing too quick.
    My suggestion is that instead of triggering your sticky header on document onready, trap the scroll event instead. OnScroll, check to see if the list table exists, if it it does, use "offset" to determine if the table is off the page. If it is
    then make sure that the sticky header code has fired to make the headers in fact sticky. As soon as the table is no longer "off the page" then your headers should be reverted to their previous state.
    This should not require an entire re-write of code, rather a little code to track and trap scroll instead.

  • AJAX Pagination

    Folks,
    I have a page where I call an IFRAME to populate my report, a dynamic pl/sql region calling a database package that creates the sql (depending on user selections) and executes the sql and returns the data to a ref cursor result set, the # of rows displayed can be anywhere from 0-500. I cannot use APEX reports region here (don't ask me why, lost of permutations and combinations of columns that can be displayed, so i do it in a package).
    I want AJAX pagination here, is that a good idea? if yes how do i do it? I have tried calling an application process, but it returns all the records, not just the next n# rows.
    If no, Ajax pagination is not a good idea please explain.
    Thanks
    Bharat

    Carl,
    I am doing a bulk fetch from my select into a plsql tables and then display them on the APEX page, so i can do a fetch limit but that does not seem to work as it fetches 1..50 then 1..100, not 50..100. I understand if I changed the architecture to accept rownum this might work better...will consider. Also the whole pages refreshes when i call an ondemad process and so i loose by intelligent header i created with sortable column headers.
    am i being clear? if not let me know i will try to explain better, might be tough to host the page (we use materialized views and OLS policies)
    Thanks
    Bharat

  • Use $.parseJSON over eval() in AJAX Forms

    It was recommended to me (by a non-BC user) that I change the AJAX form submission from eval to $.parseJSON due to possible security concerns, debugging of code, and it is slower than $.parseJSON. When I switched the script to $.parseJSON it gave me the following syntax error: SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character. Why doesn't the script seem to work with $.parseJSON?
    Here is the script:
    function jqsub() {
    var $f = jQuery('#email-form');
    var $m = jQuery('#success-message');
    jQuery.ajax({
      type: 'POST',
      url: $f.attr('action') + '&JSON=1',
      data: $f.serialize(),
        success: function(msg) {
         var formResponse = $.parseJSON(msg); // Line changed - was var formResponse = eval(msg);
            if (formResponse.FormProcessV2Response.success) {
                    $f.fadeOut();
                    $m.fadeIn().html('<p>Thank you for joining our mailing list.</p>');
        error: function(msg) {
        alert('error'+msg);
        return false;

    You need to understand what is going on TheBCMan before jumping in.
    1. Not her JSON, its the BC JSON response.
    2. The parse Json will not work or to be used in this case because JSON is actually NOT returned by BC Lynda. You submit the form Data by Json but if you look at the returned response by BC its the HTML confirmation or error message.
    Eval i not working due to doctype missmatch error. I can fix it by handing the html response myself but I have reached out to BC already to see if the headers were changed on system messages to stop their ajax submission guide code from working.

    Unfortunately you are not posting in customer service so there is no escalation.  You need to contact the website owners for information on access issues.
    Your script does not help any because your issue is with header.  The site will tell you which headers you need to allow access.  It is likely you are not authenticated for the kind of access you are asking for.
    Try also poting in the IIS forum or the forum for your web server.  This forum is for admin scripting of Windows and not for general web scripting.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • The etag value \'\"1\"\' specified in one of the request headers is not valid. Please make sure only one etag value is specified and is valid.

    I try to receive data from a SharePoint List by using REST Services. (_vti_bin/ListData.svc)
    This approach worked fine for some days, until I get an error 400 with following error message:
    "The etag value 1 specified in one of the request headers is not valid. Please make sure only one tag value is specified and is valid."
    Hope anybody can help.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you had an issue about retrieve data form list using REST in SharePoint 2010.
    I had created a simple demo to retrieve a list item, you can check with the following code snippets.
    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    _spBodyOnLoadFunctionNames.push("callCSOM");
    function callCSOM()
    $("#Button1").click(function()
    ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(ready, "sp.js");
    function getListItemById(webUrl,listName, itemId, success, failure) {
    var url = webUrl + "/_vti_bin/listdata.svc/" + listName + "(" + itemId + ")";
    $.ajax({
    url: url,
    method: "GET",
    headers: { "Accept": "application/json; odata=verbose" },
    success: function (data) {
    success(data.d);
    error: function (data) {
    failure(data.responseJSON.error);
    function ready(){
    getListItemById('http://sp','ListB',2,function(data){
    alert(data.Title);
    function(error){
    console.log(JSON.stringify(error));
    </script>
    <input id="Button1" type="button" value="Run Code"/>
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Cross Domain Ajax in newScale

    We have lots of form field validations in our newScale instance, for which we rely upon external applications.
    I am using http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/dojo/1.6.0/dojo/dojo.xd.js for making cross domain ajax.
    Now there are multiple issues that I am facing & need a better approach -
    1. This works great in IE 8 & 9 but pops up a security warning which is kind of annoying to the end user.
    2. Never works on Firefox.
    Has someone faced a similar issue or have a better solution w.r.t newScale environment, please share the details.
    Thanks,
    Abhishek

    Hi vmishr11,
    When you use SP.RequestExecutor, it will execute asynchronously to get data from host web. It will use like below:
    var executor = new SP.RequestExecutor(appweburl);
    executor.executeAsync(
    url:
    appweburl +
    "/_api/web/lists/getbytitle('Announcements')/items",
    method: "GET",
    headers: { "Accept": "application/json; odata=verbose" },
    success: successHandler,
    error: errorHandler
    For SP.AppContextSite, it will execute in order to get data.

  • Ajax / spry  and CF 5

    A quick question Will ajax / spry work with CF 5. The people
    I work for don' t see the need to upgrade to 6 or 7 I have seen
    alot of conversation about cfajax and MX versions but not CF 5.
    have even tried a simple app that just returns a static table with
    no real cf activity just naming the page .cfm and it will give me
    the headers but not the data. Is There documentation out there I
    might have missed?
    thanks

    You certainly can talk to CF5 (or any server software) from
    Spry.
    Beyond what Don has added, I'll say also that 2 things could
    things from working if you just try to rename an xml file as .cfm.
    First, if you have debugging enabled, then the bottom of your page
    will now have the HTML debugging output--Spry (or any Ajax client
    that expectsw pure XML) won't like that. Also, changing it to .cfm
    also means CF will return the data with an http content-type or
    "text/html" when it needs to be "text.html".
    I explain how to solve these two (and related problems) in
    this blog entry:

  • HttpServer not dispatching (or receiving?) Ajax requests - Help needed

    Hello,
    I have run into a strange problem. Strange because the combination of com.sun.net.httpserver.HttpServer with Internet Explorer works whereas the combination of com.sun.net.HttpServer with Firefox and Opera doesn't work!
    To illustrate I have written a small Java program that implements a HttpHandler that I want to serve Ajax requests that are fired from Javascript. I use the prototype.js Javascript library to send the Ajax requests.
    The webpage fires a Ajax request every second. The HttpHandler responds with a <script> block that calls the paint() function on the webpage.
    This works fine on Internet Explorer 6, but Firefox and Opera don't get an answer on the Ajax requests that the Javascript sends. Even more, the request doesn't event make it to the MyHandler.handle() method. How can I test whether the request even makes it to the HttpServer object, and if it reaches the HttpServer object, then why isn't it dispatched to my HttpHandler?
    I hope I made myself clear and that someone can point out to me what I am doing wrong or what the code that I wrote is lacking to make it work with Firefox and Opera.
    Thanks a whole lot in advance!
    Here is the code:
    File TestHttpServerWithPrototypeJS.html (run it on IIS or Apache or whatever)
    <html>
         <head>
              <title>Test HttpServer with prototype.js</title>
              <script type="text/javascript" src="http://localhost/prototype.js"></script>
              <script>
                   function uncache(url)
                        return url + '?time=' + (new Date()).getTime();
                   function initialize()
                        try
                             // Make a HTTP request every second to /myapp and update the mydiv1 element.
                             // What is written into the mydiv1 is a <script> section that calls the paint function.
                             // The paint function then updates the mydiv2 element with a counter value that
                             // is incremented by the server code after each http (ajax) request.
                             var myAjax = new Ajax.PeriodicalUpdater(

    Hi there,
    I had run into the same problem, it wouldn't work with Opera, worked but not very well with IE7 and Safari, and on Firefox seemed to work fine. I was able to solve this problem by making sure there was always a result code greater than zero when writing the respose headers. I am now running my application on all major browsers and have no problems at all. The application makes heavy use of ajax as well.
    Summing up:
    - before writing the response, make sure to write the headers and make sure the result code is greater than zero. I use a response length of 0 when writing the headers as I ran into a bit of trouble when using responses of specific length.
    - write the response then make sure to close the connection.

    I encountered a problem with some client machines that use Firefox version 24ESR and IE8.
    Ajax requests of aspx pages from Firefox are getting the following error from the iis server (iis version 7.5):
    Bad Request - Request Too Long
    HTTP Error 400. The size of the request headers is too long.
    From analyzing the request that was sent to the server, I saw that the request consist of only the viewstate of the aspx page.
    I tried to disable the viewstate for one page and the server got the request correctly.
    I do not encounter any issues on these laptops with postback requests from Firefox or when running the same application with IE8.

    Sometimes that means that the page address sent is loo long.
    Check the link address you are using.
    I can't help you further and will send for more help.

  • CFCONTENT from within any AJAX layout

    CFCONTENT does not work as documented when I call it from
    within my AJAX app. Workarounds that call the code from another
    directory are way too kludgey for the client, but proved my
    standard code works outside of AJAX layout areas.
    This problem was first mentioned here in January '07 but
    never answered. Has anyone found a workaround?

    > Thanks and apologies... I should have just said
    "CFCONTENT does not work when
    > called from within any AJAX container," for example
    CFDIV, CFWINDOW,
    > CFLAYOUTAREA.

    > The result is exactly as tSpark described... I see the

    display in Excel. The same
    > code works as expected (and as I've used it repeatedly
    for at least 4 or 5
    > years) if it is in a non-AJAX page.
    Right. Well I think you might be misunderstanding how all
    this works.
    Firstly, here's a very small replicable case:
    <!--- mimeTypeTestMain.cfm --->
    <cfwindow initshow="true" source="./mimeTypeTestInner.cfm"
    />
    <!--- mimeTypeTestInner.cfm --->
    <cfcontent type="application/msexcel" reset="true">
    <cfheader name="Content-Disposition"
    value="filename=mimeTypeTestInner.xls">
    <table border="1">
    <tr><td>Foo</td></tr>
    <tr><td>Bar</td></tr>
    </table>
    As you say, this just displays an HTML table in the window.
    Now, first things first, the <cfcontent> tag is indeed
    doing its job
    exactly as intended. If you watch the underlying HTTP
    requests/responses
    taking place, you'll see the MIME type of
    mimeTypeTestInner.cfm is indeed
    being set to application/excel, and the content-disposition
    is being set to
    the correct file name.
    However that sort of thing is only ever interpretted by the
    browser as
    starts receiving a new response from a request it itself has
    made (you
    know, typing in a URL in the address bar, or clicking on a
    link or
    sumbitting a form on the referring page, etc.
    A <cfwindow> is *not* a "window" in the sense of a
    browser window (or a
    browser frame or iframe), it's just a <div> with some
    styling applied to it
    to make it look "window-y". Part of the <cfwindow> tags
    functionality is
    that behind the scenes, a Javascript XML object is making a
    request back to
    the server to get the content for the window as specified in
    the "source"
    attribute. Having received some data back, some client side
    JS (which
    <cfwindow> has previously sent down to the browser)
    grabs it and pops it
    into the innerHtml of the <div>. It doesn't pay any
    attention to your
    headers. It doesn't actually make any sense it pay any
    attention to header
    information like that, because the content of the request is
    being
    integrated into an existing doc, which already has a name and
    a MIME type.
    Make sense?
    I've singled out <cfwindow> here because I happen to be
    getting myself up
    to speed with CF8 at present, and <cfwindow> was one of
    those tags I have
    never used in production code: so it's kind of "on my radar"
    at present.
    The other AJAX-esque tags will work the same way, for the
    same reasons
    though.
