Alarm blaring on call

I set many alarms for work since I am doing timed changes at my radio station. If I'm on a call and an alarm sounds it blasts into my ear at full volume as if I wasn't using the phone at all. Is there any way to set the tone so that when I'm on a call it just plays the sound into the earpiece? It's extremely startling I always have to apologize to the person on the other end of the call because I pull the phone away to stop the blaring noise. I was unable to find a similar topic so I apologize if this is a repost.

Currently the only thing you can do is flip the mute switch while you are on the call. Or turn the ringer volume down.
I thought the mute switch did NOT mute the alarm. Hence that kerfuffle at Lincoln Center (I think) when the iPhone alarm went off in the middle of the concert. Or am I completely confused today?

  • Why does my volume for music or videos not play externally, but it does for my alarm or phone calls?

I can not get the volume on my IPhone 4S to play externally for music and videos. However, the sound for my alarms and phone calls do sound externally. Also, the buttons on the side of the phone for volume control no longer appear to be working? What can I do to fix this?  Thank you.

    Hello Jack,
I would be concerned too if the speaker on my iPhone was not working.  I found an article with some steps to take when you are experiencing issues like this:

  • E63 Alarm tone without Call tone

I don't know if this is elswhere in the forum, but I couldn't find anything and had to work it out for myself.
If you set the Profile to the default Silent, the phone doesn't ring of course, but unlike my previous phone neither does the Alarm. There is no setting in Personalise to set the Alarm Tone, and Nokia's Help files are pretty useless.
So if you want to be woken by the Alarm but not by any calls do the following:
    - record a few seconds of silence on the mike and save it (eg to "Silence")
    - use Tools>Profiles>Silent>Personalise>Ringing_tone and set it to your new recording (eg "Silence")
    - set  Tools>Profiles>Silent>Personalise>Ringing_type to Ascending (or probably anything except Silent)
    - set  Tools>Profiles>Silent>Personalise>Ringing_volume to anything above zero ( which is one "blob")
(- leave all the other settings as defaults)
Phone calls will ring with "Silence" - so you don't hear them, but the Alarm will use it's normal tone.
Hope this is useful to someone.

  • Cannot stop an alarm while on call

    IPhone 3G: Software version 2.2.1
Please help me that I can not stop an alarm while I am calling somebody. For example, I set an alarm at 12:30 and I receive a call at 12:15. The call prolongs until 12:45, Naturally the alarm rings at 12:30. At 12:30 I tried to switch off the alarm, but there is no display on the screen! I tried to press the home button many times, but there is no reaction, there is no display! The only way I can switch off the alarm is to click on the sleep/wake button on the top of the iphone! But when I click on this, my on-going call also ends.
This is so stupid and it drives me crazy.
The phone has another similar problem: When a call ends there is no display on the phone for about a minute. In this time, even the home button is not active! The only way to make the screen active is by clicking on the sleep/wake button at the top-right side of the iphone.

Do you have the iPhone in a case? If so, the case may be interfering with the proximity sensor. Some cases do that, especially cases not made specifically for the iPhone 3G. If it's in a case, try with the case removed and if that corrects the issue, get a different case.

  • Alarm sounds during call

I have several regularly scheduled alarms. However, if I make a telephone call and it happens to occur during a scheduled alarm, it plays during the call and the other party can hear it. Thus, it seems very rude to have an alarm play during a telephone call. Is there a way to postpone an alarm until after you are finished with a call?

I have the same problem (doesn't everyone?). I've complained to Apple about it before, and I'm getting ready to send it in again, but I figured that I should check the Discussion groups first in case I've missed something.
I suggest that you make a suggestion to Apple about this problem on their iPhone feedback page.

The more people that complain about this problem, the more likely they will fix this.

  • Alarms blaring loud enough to damage hearing

I just installed 3.0 last week and everything seemed to be OK until today. I've set up several alarms in the Clock app and they've worked perfectly for months. Today they suddenly started sounding at maximum volume, so loud that when the alarm went off while I was wearing earbuds, the volume was painful.
Is anybody else seeing this problem? Can anybody recommend a hidden setting to control the alarm volumes? No other audio apps are having problems.
    Thanks in advance!

It's possible that your clock/alarm apps need an update.
Some may not work properly if they are older.
Also, each app stores it's own volume setting.
When the app is running, lower the volume.
Does that not help or "stick"?
There's also a volume limit setting for the iPod under general.

  • Wakeup call/alarm clock app for CUCME?

    Hi,
I currently have a CME 4.1 with Unity Express 3, and would like to have an alarm clock/wakeup call app for my system. It would need to function on both IP phones as well as FXS ports. Has anyone coded this before?
My current 'workaround' is using an Asterisk box to perform the wakeup calls... personally I don't like it very much, but it works.

Hi I would be interested on running this on cme 4.1 but the link doesn't work...
    Could you help please

  • High bill with unusual calls and texts from non-functioning numbers?

We have a family share plan with 3 phones, one phone for my husband and two phones for our employees.  Our usual phone bill runs around $150.  Our last bill was over $600, the majority charges being on one of our employee's lines.  This particular employee has been with us for over 10 years, and has always been extremely trustworthy and very frugal in his usage of his phone to make personal calls (very infrequent and always less than 5 minutes in duration, unless made during the free nights and weekends timeframe).  Our latest bill showed over 1,000 texts to/from his phone, as well as over 3,000 peak calling minutes (both to/from his phone) alone.  Many of the peak calls are lengthy in duration (30+ minutes, up to 120 minutes).  I realize this post is long, so will divide it into headings so that it makes more sense:
    Information on usage:
Our employee insists that he did not make these calls and texts (he does not even know how to text), and what is odd about the numbers that appear on the detail (both text and voice) is that they fit into one of two categories:
    1.  There are calls to two particular non-local area code numbers (and possibly bogus, as they have area codes 523 and 352(?)).  When I call the two numbers, I get the following messages:
From my landline:  When called from my landline, adding a "1" before the 10 digit number, I get the recording stating that "your number cannot be completed as dialed, please check the number and dial again"
From a cell number- When calling from my own VZW phone (on separate account from husband's), I get a VZW message that the number "has been changed, disconnected or is no longer in service"
    2. They are local area code numbers, but when I call the number, I get a recording asking me to enter my pin number (in other words, they are numbers that cannot receive incoming calls, but according to our bill, have not only made calls to our employee's phone, but also received calls.  I have done an online lookup on these numbers and they are all cell phones.
    3.  When I have tried to text the non-local numbers from my VZW phone, I get messages back stating that these are landline numbers and cannot be texted; when I text the local numbers, I have texted a generic message along the lines of "I can't reach you on the phone.  Please call me as soon as you can" but I do not receive a call back.
We cannot speak directly with our employee right now (he is in Mexico to pick up his elderly grandmother),  nor can we access our employee's phone to check the log, call history, etc. because he has the phone with him.  Due to this, when we discovered the high usage, we immediately "suspended" the phone line so that no calls could be made or received.  Subsequent to suspending the line, we have talked to his family a couple of times -- one time he happened to call them on another line, so we talked to him "indirectly" through a family member on another line with him.  He was alarmed about the calls and insists he did not make them.
He does have children but they are forbidden (by him) from using the phone, and he states that he always keeps the phone in a case on his hip, thus no one else has access to the phone.  To go even further, it seems that most all of the calls to these unusual numbers are made on weekdays, during school hours, so I feel sure the calls were not made by his kids.
Calls to Verizon:  When we first called Verizon, they suggested we suspend the phone until we could speak to our employee.  Subsequent to our indirect conversation with him mentioned above, we called them back and told them he stated that he did not make the calls nor send the texts, and that we believed the phone might have been compromised, cloned, hijacked or whatever.  First, the customer svc rep looked at our account and suggested that we put an unlimited text on the phone for the current unbilled usage (there were a lot of texts, and we have no text plan on the employee's phone), and then remove that plan once we get to the bottom of this matter.
Due to our concern about fraudulent usage, the customer svc. rep called the fraud dept. while my husband was holding on the line.  She came back on the line and told my husband that the fraud dept. said that "it cannot be fraud because if it was, there would be thousands of dollars in international long distance to countries like Pakistan and India." (WTH?)  Also, she said that it couldn't be fraud "because texts were sent to and from the telephone number so we know it was your phone."  (another WTH?)
She then went on to say that it looks like texts were sent to international numbers (???) recently (these same 523 and 352 area code numbers I referred to above).  Number one, if these were international texts, it seems odd to me that these texts show up on our billed and unbilled activity as "domestic text" and there is no premium charge assessed to our account for international texts.  Number two, if these numbers were international numbers, I imagine that we would be charged for outgoing international calls, which we were not.  Further, I imagine that the numbers would be displayed on our bill in other than a ten digit format, but am not sure, as no one has ever made an international call or text on our phone.
    Next steps:
Does anyone have advice for the next steps we should take and how we can get to someone in customer service who can actually help us with this problem, instead of what we experienced on our previous call?  Can we demand that Verizon launch an investigation through its fraud department on the activity on this phone, or is this at the discretion of VZW to launch an investigation?  I am unsure, since this was not given as an option by the customer service rep...
If we can get Verizon to launch an investigation, is payment of the portion of the bill with the unusual and disputed usage (namely, that which is over and above the usual usage) waived pending the investigation results, or will we have to pay the entire bill to both avoid having the phones turned off, as well as any detrimental effects to our credit?  We've been hit hard by the economy, both personally (I am out of work right now) and business wise (my husband's business has been doing only about 25% of its usual business), and we don't have the extra $$ for the bill unless we take it out of our grocery budget.
If anyone has any insight, suggestions or otherwise, I sure would appreciate it.  Sorry for the lengthy first post, but I thought it would be helpful to outline as much about the situation as I could in order that people could respond.  Thanks in advance!

    kbinga,
I know this is a confusing and frustrating situation for you. I would be happy to review the account in detail to see what is happening with the usage and charges to ensure it does not continue to be a problem for you. Please send me a direct message for further support assistance.
    Thank you!

  • App that gives option for alarm ONLY through headphones

At some point in the past, I used to be able to configure my settings in such a way that my alarms would go off only through my headphones when they were plugged in. I guess this function has been lost over the course of software updates, but it's become a problem now that my partner and I are on opposite schedules and I need to be the only one who is able to hear it. FWIW, I use those soft headband SleepPhones and have a wireless pair that works via bluetooth, as well as the standard pair that plugs into the headphone jack. I hear the alarm blaring through them, don't get me wrong, but it also blares out loud now and I used to be able to prevent this. Anyone know of any 3rd party apps that allow for a return to this functionality?

  • IPhone 4 - alarm and phone sounds

I have a new iPhone 4. At night I only want to hear the alarm and phone calls (no emails or push notifications, etc.).
Is there a simple way to do this? Currently I have to go to settings > sounds > then i turn off all the individual sounds. Its not that big of deal, but don't they have a phone only mode, or something that is one simple touch (like my blackberry used to have)?
    Thank you!

I think you will find that everything but the alarm is silent if you flip the switch on the side. I too have the same problem looking to switch to phone only mode while sleeping, I really dont care what facebook is doing at 3am. I tried looking for extensions to do this but cant find anything there either.
I sure wish there was a forum to suggest apps and extension requests to developers so you could see the request count for each.

  • Yet another question about Alarms on SJSCS 2005Q4

I'm trying to set an alarm, using the call:
    storeevents.wcap?id=mySessionId&calid=myCalId

    &alarmPopup=20060204T05300000&alarmEmails=myId
It claim that the created event was stored successfully, but if I
go into the event using the web interface, the new event
does NOT have an alarm associated with it. When I fetched
that same event by id (fetchevent_by_id), I saw that the VALARM
event has an associated time of Jan 30 1970 (Yes, that date
    is extremely familliar).
Anyone have any clues as to what I could be doing wrong?

This is normal. There are in act two fans in the MBP, one for the CPU and the other for the GPU and when running a 3D game like WoW the GPU is run at maximum causing it to be as hot as it's going to get. Without some external cooling solution you can't really do much about it.

  • Can't find my salesperson

Ok on 9-23-13 a agent came to my door to sign me up for verizon I told her I was not interested because I was going to get time warner in two days . She ask me the price and I told her and began to day that she could beat it . I ask her to come back in the evening when my husband was around . She agree and both women came back into my home that evening . She ( main woman ) began to tell me that that they could save me money she show me the plan and said I can get you ultimate , fully loaded package and a Dvr and 3 stb- had boxes . I told her no because I was going to put six boxes and I was adding the spanish channels for my mother and she said ok I'll give you all that plus the 50/25 internet . My husband and I said it sounds good but we have time warner home security and she said no problem we can add it on their 10.00 monthly charge and the numbers still sounded good . I was so excited . Then my husband said how much would it be to do the 75/35 internet she said 10.00 and we ask about the maintenance wires and she's said 10.00 well we did not hesitate since the number was still lower then time warner . She said you will get a 400. Visa gift card too . I was happy even though I was letting go of a 500. 00 visa with time warner . Since my price was still much lower . She wrote in the contract and check off the spanish and the fully loaded, 75/35 and ultimate package . I husband ask her what about the alarm that we were discussing and she said oh I'll add it write here under list all promotions/ offer applicable to the customer . She wrote on those line 400.00 visa , security back up and inside wire maintenance and my estimated bill for $228.06 with an activation fee of 69.99. 0 charge on equipment and installation fee . 1 st est. bill 302.99 since it had my first installment of the 69.99 . She said I would be getting and email and that she would call me back and wrote her number and the the other agent name and number too. I did not recieve the email so I left a message on both agents cell phones and I never got a call back til this day . When the verizon people call to versify of my order they would not mention my complete order and they would not even mention my home alarm . Two call and then I ask wait you are all calling but no one is saying anything about the house alarm and they said said that's a different dept. huh? Well I call an d spoke to the home security Nd told him was getting worry because no one knew about my alarm order and he said I understand but no one is going to call you and you only call us if you are ordering it if they wrote it in your contract then they will get a hold of you . So I try to get the Agents again no call back . I then went to my verizon and added a note to the technician telling him about my concern with the alarm and the I wrote the name and the number to that agent . When the technician came I show him my contract and he said he was only told one Dvr but he would install the other one . I show him where the agent wrote my security . He said they would contact me when his work was done because they could not do anything Untill then I said ok . Next morning I wake up and I'm super excited to see my channels and I notice that I don't get HBO so I call them and tell them that it was part of plan and they said no that they could not charge me twice for show time since it was on my ultimate nd package so the agent had keyed it differently . I said she never said anything like that she said it was fully loaded and handed me a line up so I could see all the premiums channels I was getting . This phone agent said I'll add it her but we will have to take away 400.00 card and I said what ? Then she went on and said ok I can do I thus way and you can get your HBO and I ask is this going to cost me more now and age said no mam it's actually going to save you 3.00 oh wow ok . She said I will send you and email so you can. Understand . I said ok then we discuss the alarm and told her no one seem to know anything and she said she had to add it because the agent did not write it down and I told her I have the hard copy here. And where she wrote it I said someone has to have the original white copy the agent signed . I told her the agent said we could use our equipment from time warner because it work the same I said great but the agent on the phone said no and that I would have to purchase it and I said ok at this point I was worry more that my family did not have an alarm set in the house anymore . She explain if I was not happy I could cancel within 30 days . But the 14.99 for shipping if the kit I would have go pay . I said ok . Three hour later I go online and I see HBO is costing more not saving me 3.00 and now my shipping charges for the kit have gone from 14.00 to 19.99 and now there are equipment and installation charges . I called up again frantically and speak to a another agent who says to fax the bill .first person to seem willing to help me out . I do so and she call me and leaves a message that she received my fax and will handed to another group so they can help me and call me on Monday . I call the two door to door agents and leave. Message to one because the main one box is too full to receive any messages .meanwhile I can't understand why no one sees that she wrote about my alarm being part of it . I know that the original white copy exists somewhere. I study the form and I realized that she called it security back up and I it makes me wonder if she deliberately wrote that so I would not get the services I was promised . I've tried getting a hold of her because I figure she could be the one person to sort all of the mess easily if she forgot to key in the info on the computer when she placed my order . No answer again from both door to door salespersons .... .. Here I am waiting for Monday to arrive and the party that will help me resolve this . Scare of calling again since my bill keeps getting bigger and bigger with each call........ What happen to trusting the people that come into your home and sit down and chat with you like they really care about getting you a great deal ..... They disappear as soon as the ink dry on my paper .... Nowhere to be found . I ask myself how can anyone keep hearing your messages about the confusion and asking you to return the call to clear all the mix ups . Hiw is it that they can come into my living room and drink the beverages that I offer because they seem so hit from walking from door to door and spend two hours talking with my husband and me about my family and and their families and tend it with a shake of Hand and never to be heard of again ....... What type of sales people is verizon training ? Someone please help me get them to see the original contact and honour the quotes .......... Very hurt and disappointment doing business for the very first time with verizon

  • GE70 Issues on Startup / Resume from Sleep

Ever since I got my laptop back from it's first RMA to fix the fan which had stopped working, I've been having issues with the hard drive. For some reason the packing slip on the first RMA said they also replaced the HDD, which was working fine I though. What happens is that when it's been off for several hours, when I go to turn on the system the BIOS can't find the HDD to boot from. Putting my ear to where the hard drive is I can hear a faint repeating click.
Needless to say this was quite alarming, so I called support. They had me open the back on check the connections and try again. I redid the connections and the problem still persisted. Before he gave me a second RMA I tried once more and to my surprise was able to boot into windows! The tech on the phone advised me to call back for an RMA if the problem came back. It came back later that night, after trying to resume Windows from sleep. The same clicking could be heard from the HDD as windows locked up on me. Further reboots had the same issue. I called back and RMA #2 was issued.
This is where it gets annoying. The tech working on the second RMA called me and said he couldn't recreate the problem, and would be sending that laptop back. Imagine my surprise when after unboxing my laptop and trying to boot it up resulted in the exact same issue I'd sent it in for the second RMA. I've been doing what test I can over the weekend, and so far I've gotten the clicking / not detected on every startup in the morning. It doesn't matter if it's just on battery or plugged in, or no battery and plugged in, the issue persists and the BIOS doesn't see the HDD. If I listen really closely to the HDD though, on startup or resume, and listen for the click to go away, I can then boot into windows and everything seems to run fine.
Needless to say this is especially confusing. If it's not the HDD that's failing then for some reason the laptop isn't getting it the power it needs on startup. It's probably not the AC adapter, or the wall socket / wiring as it still happens on battery only, and it's probably not the battery since it still happened without the battery in. What  does that leave us? Motherboard issues perhaps? Maybe a power problem in the Laptop itself? I'm stumped at this point, and not looking forward to a third long RMA period should it (likely) be needed. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands a good 2.5 inch HDD tomorrow for more testing, but for now I'll post this and see if anyone has encountered something similar or has any ideas.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Switch from iPhone

I just switched from years of iPhones to a Blackberry Z30. I really like the OS but there are still a couple of issues that i hope will be solved in the near future. I travel a lot and some things are of great importance to me.
Is there any way of having a headphone profile? I would really like the alarm or incoming calls to be over the headset iso the speakers.
The ability to make a VPN connection with my home NAS. Right now the VPN options are very limited and i am not able to connect to my NAS.
Print emails directly from the phone. I cannot understand why this is not possible right out of the box. I thought that  BB was a "workphone".
Can anyone tell me if these things are solved with a new software update? I really wanna like the phone (and i do for the most part).

    Welcome!
For the headphone profile, is this something you want automatically when the headphone is attached?
I know in OS 10.3.1 you will have much more custom profiles you can create.
VPN,. some new stuff coming on that from BlackBerry... perhaps it will resolve that for you.
Printing, via an app from App World, present now.
