Albums & Events sync from Aperture - why?

I transfer photos via Aperture, where they are contained in Projects and Albums. Most of the time, under the Picture app on the iPad, they are on a page listed as Albums.
Sometimes, though, they are listed under a page called Events.
Does anyone know why is this, why is there is not consistency?

I should have gotten back here earlier.
I think it was operator error, in part.
First, though, for no reason I can figure out, Projects from Aperture would occasionally come across to the iPad as Events, rather than Albums. My work-around: If there are any Projects that end up as Events, create a new Project, remove the photos from the old Project, and put them into the new one. Then try to transfer photos again.
I also had trouble getting photos out of what I thought were sub-albums into Album on my iPad. These photos would show up in an Event folder on the iPad. I think the problem may have been that I created folders rather than albums. Folders seem to transfer to the iPad as Events, while Albums transfer as Albums. So it might be operator error - make sure than photos in Aperture are being transferred out of Projects or albums, and not out of folders.

I am trying to sync the ipad calendar with my Google calendar.  The events sync from my Google calendar to the iPad calendar but when I enter an event on my iPad caledar it does not sync to the Google calendar.

Did you ever get an answer to this?  I'm having the same issue.

  • Selected videos won't sync from Aperture through iTunes to my iPhone 5s

I don't know if this is an iPhone issue, an Aperture issue, or an iTunes issue . . .
I'm using Aperture, on my iMac, and have created albums that contain videos (as well as photos). Some videos are iPhone-created that I imported from my iPhone into Aperture (since iCloud/Photostream does not automatically cloud videos); some videos were created by me in a separate program (iMovie or FCPX) and then down-mixed to put into my Aperture album. I'm trying to sync my Aperture album (not Event, but Album) to my iPhone 5s so that I have an album on my iPhone directly mimicking my Aperture album.
The pictures come over perfectly, sorted by date as they are in Aperture. However, the videos have issues. Most importantly, only the ones originally created by my iPhone come back across to my phone, and in the correct album. Anything that I've created (Final Cut Pro X or iMovie) are not coming through (down-mixed as .mov files).
I do have the "include videos" box checked in iTunes; that only serves to bring over the iPhone-created movies, some of which it dropped into the synced album, some of which it decided to put into my videos album.
Anyone out there have any ideas what I could be doing differently? I'd like all my videos in my Aperture album to come across to my iPhone in the same album.
Second smaller issue is that movies I made on my iPhone 5s in slo-mo, though they imported to Aperture in slo-mo, are syncing back to my iPhone 5s in real time, not slo-mo.
    Aperture: 3.5.1
    iPhone: 5s, 8.0.2
    iMac: 10.9.5
    iTunes:  11.4(18)

As a follow-up, I down mixed the video in FCPX using "Apple Devices" 720p. That did not help.

  • Weird workaround for syncing from Aperture

I sometimes regret moving from iPhoto to Aperture. It ought to be an improvement, but there are problems with iPhone syncing. Lots of posts here about that. I have my iPhone 4 set to sync all photos from Aperture. I noticed some individual photos were not syncing from a particular album. Could not figure out why. Noticed that these photos were the only ones in the album without keywords. Added a keyword, and then they synced. But this does not seem to be uniform. I looked at other photos in my Aperture library also did not have keywords, but they synced. Wonder if it has something to do with the fact that those pictures that were not syncing were added to my library using a card reader rather than connecting the camera (Canon EOS digital Rebel). Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts . . .

    You’re welcome.
can I just delete all of the messages in my .mac inbox periodically
once I know they have all been copied to both computers?
Yes. Beware, however, that copying the messages may cause things such as clicking on the reply arrow to find the reply to a message to stop working because the copy may not be recognized as being the same message. You may want to check whether things work as you expect before getting rid of the original messages.
If I delete them in the .mac inbox in mail I presume they will
    disapear from the server?
If you delete them from the account’s Inbox in Mail or from the server via webmail, they’ll disappear from everywhere as a result of Mail synchronizing with the server.
Actually, if you move the messages to a locally stored mailbox, instead of copying them, that’s enough to remove them from the server (and from the other computer) as well.
Thus, you may want to designate one of your computers as the “master” and move the messages there instead of copying them after having copied them on the other.
there is no way of automating the deleting of messages from the
inbox after a period of time.
There is a way by setting up a rule that invokes an AppleScript that forces the rules to be evaluated for already existing messages. Andreas Amann’s Mail Scripts’ Filter Sent Messages script illustrates how this technique works. I don’t recommend you to do that for what you want to accomplish, though.

  • Syncing from aperture fail.

I have got a problem during syncing my photos from Aperture to my iPhone.
And later iTunes wrote aperture library is not available. What can I do now?
    Thanks.

Are you sure that it isn't how you are viewing them on the iPad? Open Photos on the iPad and note that there are 2 icons at the bottom (Photos & Albums). Have you tried changing that to Albums?

  • MobileMe gallery switched syncing from Aperture to iPhoto

I had an album on Aperture that synced with MobileMe. Friends added photos via email and via web upload, and all was good. Until one day when the Aperture web album was gone. MobileMe album was still there, but it says (under Info) that it's syncing with iPhoto (which I haven't used in 4 years). So I load up iPhoto and, voila, it starts syncing.
How can I tell MobileMe to sync with original Aperture? This is a real pain.

Actually this is an Aperture issue since this problem only occurs when I export and then import files from aperture into iphoto 08. When I import files off a disk or external compact flash disk directly into iphoto 08 and then upload to the web gallery they retain the same file size yet the files that were brought over from aperture somehow loose there size once they go to the gallery. Interstingly enough the file size of versions brought over from aperture appear to remain in tact in iphoto but drop off once on the web???? Does this have anything to do with Versions as reference files...but if so how does one retain the chaanges made in aperture to a master file and export it to iphoto 08 and then on to the web and still retain some semblance of file size??? Note I already did enable downloading prior to uploading to the gallery.. HELP!

  • Mobileme Album List disappearing from Aperture Library

My MobileMe Album list disappeared from my Aperture Library a few days ago.
Aperture activity window shows "MobileMe - Retrieving Album List" every time I start up Aperture, and quits without error messages, but no album list appears.
Anyone know how I can get my MobileMe album list back?
    Thank you.

Upon further investigation of this new 'feature' I came upon the following.
In my above example, let's say I have my Library A open.
I can see the MobileMe albums of the other libraries (B and C) that do not belong in A.
I just clicked on a MM Album of library B and it is now synchronising the contents of this Album with my Library.
So now I have photo's of MM Albums B and C showing up INSIDE MY LIBRARY A
    Good grief APPLE !
It get's even worse. The synced photo's manifest themselves inside smart folders, ilife media browser and iphone/ipad syncs !!!
I'm having genuine problems with some aspects of Aperture since version 3.0, there is an open bug in bugreporter that seems to be unsolvable, and after 8 months of bugfixing (february 3.0.1 to November 3.1) this is what they come up with ???
The worst part is that it seems this new 'feature' was intentional :

  • Blurry photos on Everpix (syncing from Aperture)

I'm trying to sync pictures from my Aperture library to everpix.com using their Mac Uploader.  However, no matter what I do, every single picture I upload is fuzzy when viewed within the everpix.com website.  You can see a screenshot of a duck from the website (right), overlayed with the jpg that was synced with the Mac Uploader (left).  The website image is so much fuzzier than the original image that I can't believe anyone isn't complaining about this - I must be doing something wrong.
Every single picture I've uploaded looks like this.  I thought maybe it was something wonky with the fact that I was viewing this on a Retina MacBook Pro, but I tried it on my wife's non-retina MacBook and I can still see a difference.  If I download the picture to my computer and view it in preview, it's as tac sharp as the original.  If I sync my Aperture library with another service like Loom or SmugMug, I do not have this problem - the photos on the website look like they do in preview.
There are no everpix forums or discussion board, so I emailed everpix and got this response:  "If you want to compare photo quality, you need to compare with a downloaded full-resolution photo from Everpix (that's of course assuming you synced full-resolution photos to Everpix in the first place)."
I find this hard to believe - I know they have their own image optimization (https://support.everpix.com/entries/23231607) but it shouldn't make all of my photos look blurry and out of focus.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
    Thanks!

Photos added to a shared stream will be a lower resolution than the originals in your camera roll but they shouldn't be blurry.  If they are, you could try again later to see if it's a server problem.  Otherwise, to get the originals from your computer in your camera roll you'll either have to email them to your self, then save them to your camera roll or use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to over your wifi.

  • Bad Quality in photos sync from Aperture

I have just bought a shiny new imac with Aperture Installed and I've found a problem when syncing projects in Aperture with my iPhone.
What happens is that about a third of all photos I sync appear blurred and pixalated on the iphone even though they are crisp and clear in Aperture. I've tried the unsync and resync 'cure' with no success.
One curious thing though, if I export the project from Aperture into a folder on my hard drive and then sync directly from that ALL of the photos are crisp and clear even the ones which were originally blurred.
As I said this is a new imac and I've never used Aperture before so I wondered if there was something I might be doing wrong or some setting I may have missed, because it seems that the problem is something to do with Aperture but I'm at a loss on how to cure it.

Thank you that solved the problem. I had a feeling it was going to be something I'd missed in the settings but I never would have guessed that it was to do with preview sizes. I'd always assumed it was the master copies that were sync'd.
    So thank you one again

  • Problems deleting an album previously synced from pc

Hi, I have read several threads on the subject, and all seems simple, but I can't get it to work!
I go to iTunes, select photos, uncheck the sync photos box, and get a popup saying " iTunes will no longer synch photos on the iPad. D you want to keep or remove photos previously synced to your ipad?"
I hit "remove photos", the pop up goes, and then I sync.
The album is still there, now....I am old, but not usually this stupid.....what am I doing wrong please?

    Ios is 6.1.3
Thanks for the quick response.  I have tried the settings, general, useage, photos route, got to the delete button, hit it...album is still there!
As you suggest, I suppose the next step is to try syncing from an empty folder, and/or renaming the folder on the pc to retain the images there, and deleting the folder that was originally synced.
Seems a long way round though, and frustrating to have to go that route.
    Cheers

  • How to automate a unilateral sync from Aperture to an FTP server?

+You can export multiple Projects at once:+
+1. Select the top-level *Blue Folder*, this will show all the images from all the Projects in it.+
    +2. Select all the Versions.+
+3. Export, using the image export preset of your choice, and a folder-naming preset made up of 'Folder Name', '/' & 'Project Name'.+
+This will export the whole lot in one go, into a subfolder structure of 'name of *Blue Folder*'/'Name of Project'. Note that it will only take the name of the topmost *Blue Folder*, so it will only work for single-level *Blue Folder* structures.+
I want to take this one step further. My goal is to have a "mirror" of a given *Blue Folder* (with the projects and sub-folders represented as sub-directories as accomplished by the advice above) not just on my hard drive, but on a (private) FTP server. In essence, I want a significant percentage of my photo database mirrored on an FTP server. Note that this is not for backup purposes but for sharing the contents of my photo library (the portion of it that is appropriate to share--for example photos of family events, travels, etc.)
Currently my workflow is to click the *Blue Folder* that houses all of my family photos, select all versions, and export to a directory as advised above: Folder Name / Project Name. That takes a long time. Then I ftp the entire exported-directory tree to my FTP server. I try to do this cleverly by taking advantage of Yummy FTP's relatively new "sync" feature that compares my source directory tree with the destination directory tree, deletes files on the destination FTP server that aren't in the source file tree and uploads only the files in the source tree that aren't present in the destination tree (i.e. a unidirectional sync).
This works well enough, but it seems like a process that could be readily automated. Does anyone know of an Aperture plugin that can accomplish this workflow? Ubermind's plugin "UberUpload for Aperture" appears to come close, but it doesn't approximate the Project-Name/Folder-Name to directory tree conversion and it doesn't delete files on the destination FTP server, so it doesn't accomplish the unilateral sync I'm looking for.
Are there any other plug-ins I should look at; are there any other plug-ins you know of that might accomplish this task?
    Thank you,
    George
This is a new question but partially in response to a previous post (here --> http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1586469) that was marked answered.

Hmm, that's a possibility, made a little more difficult by the fact that I don't know how to write Applescript. I understand that it's not too difficult to pick up, but that will add to the time required to figure this out (especially if there's no documentation for calls to Aperture--is there really no documentation?). The simplest way to do this with Applescript would probably be to run a script that exports my library of photographs into a file structure as described above, then runs the sync commands available through YummyFTP, and finally deletes the exported files off my hard drive. The major drawbacks to this approach include the long time required for export (and sync if there are a large number of changes) and the need to have a significant amount of free hard drive space (probably 10 gigs in my case) which could be potentially be a problem if one were running low on disk space.

  • Sync from aperture

i have some albums that i sync to AppleTV, iPhone, and iPod.
recently, i added some shots to one of those albums, but they do not sure up on the devices. the photo sync window in iTunes shows the album, but does not have the correct number of images.
this is happening with just some images and i can't determine what about them is causing this. i have shot some new images and this does not happen with them.
what could cause iTunes to fail to "see" these images in the album??

I had the same issues and I think I have solved it. At least for smart folders within Aperture.
Basically, if you have smart folders that you are syncing with iPhoto, please make sure that you don't have any filtering enabled on the search criteria on the top right section of Aperture. The filtering should be done only within the Smart Folder filter section else the other apps seems to get confused.
Removing filter at the top right solved the issue for me.

  • IPhoto albums not syncing from computer to iPhone

I can't sync selected albums from iPhoto on my Mac to my iPhone.
First I connect the iphone to the Mac, then select certain albums under Photo on the iPhone.
It goes through the entire sync process, which takes several minutes; however, the selected albums do not appear on the iPhone.

You are still under Snow Leopard, and basically iCloud is not supported.
Are we talking about iCloud calendar, or Gmail calendar ?
In any case, I would advice you 2 things :
    1 - update to 10.6.8
    2 - check iCal parameters for SN http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57511534-263/how-to-set-up-icloud-services- in-snow-leopard/

  • My iPod Air doesn't sync from Aperture properly.

I can sync up to 5000 pictures without problems. If I go for a full sync(35,000 pictures), the sync gets interrupted, all existing photos from iPad are being deleted, and there is an error message saying that my iPad could not be synced because the sync was not completed (haha). I have tried all remedies, e.g., deleted the cache, repaired my picture library, overinstalled Mountain Lion, and newly set up my iPad. Usually, the procedure then works, but only once. Any repeat from there produces the same failures. I'm desperate and very disappointed. I expressly bought the 126 giga device to carry all my photos. Anybody knows a fix, or is it simply an Apple bug?
