Albums vs. artists, where to submit feedback/complaints?

Is there a place to send Apple design feedback?
When viewing albums, why does it split the albums up into separate artists? It's incredibly annoying when it's a compilation album. There's a tab for that, it's called ARTISTS, I'm supposed to be viewing by ALBUMS!
(come to think of it, didn't it used to be the other way around way back in the original version? If you're going to add a feature like that, make it as an optional setting!)

  • Where to submit feedback for iBooks?

Anytime I've wanted to submit feedback for an Apple product, I've visited this page --> http://www.apple.com/feedback/
It provides the mechanism through which you select what you want to provide feedback for, and then simply fill out the form and submit.  Unfortunately, no where on this page is the iBooks application listed.  So there is no way to submit feedback for the iBooks application.   I would have expected it to be listed under the "iOS Apps" heading, but there is nothing.
So if one wanted to provide feedback to Apple for iBooks, where would one do such a thing?

Looks like Apple finally added an iBooks entry to their Product Feedback page and you can now submit feedback for iBook via the following page: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ibooks_ios.html

  • Where is the submit feedback page?

How do you access the "Submit Feedback" page? All I keep getting is unrelated questions that others have posted.

    https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedback
    Or
    Help->Submit feedback..
    Is this what you meant?

  • Where to submit a feature request concerning an application (Mail) that doesn't appear in the feedback section?

    Hello.
I (and I suppose many others) have a very, very obvious and needed feature to request about Mail.app. As far as I understand, usually such requests go into the feedback section (http://www.apple.com/feedback/). But while even iCal appears on that page, Mail.app doesn't—a fact as bizarre and incomprehensible as the lack of the feature to request. (Namely: Mail allows to set rules for outgoing messages, but it doesn't execute them (obviously a coding error, one that persists since the very first version of Mail. If Mail isn't supposed to allow rules concerning outgoing messages, then it's a mistake to make setting such rules possible; but can anyone think of a sensible reason to disallow such rules?). This is very, very annoying, and it's equally annoying that apple fails to include this application into the feedback page. It's almost like they don't want us to use it.)
Well. Anybody any idea how to get this through to them?
    Thanks.

You can submit feedback for the application to the operating system feedback as a start, that is, submit to the Mac OS X that you are using.
One does wonder why there is not a separate category for something as heavily used as mail, but...

  • Albums by artist has been ruined

So far, my only complaint about ios7 is viewing albums by artist.  For instance, Elton John has 37 albums.  Why do I have to scroll through every single song on every single album to get to the one I want?  It literally makes the default music app unusable to me.
And don't tell me to search by album, because I might not decide that until I see all my choices in one place.

This really isn't the place to file complaints. I'd suggest you drop a comment here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
I also find how this new App sorts songs, Albums, playlists, everything. I've filed my complaint.

  • Who do I submit a complaint to?

My Late 2008 MBP was having problems on the more powerful graphics card(Nvidia 9600M GT). When Using the GPU the black areas would flicker red and the whole screen would flicker. So I brought it to the West Nyack New York genius bar. I sat there for about 45 minutes waiting for the genius to spend 5 minutes looking at my computer. He said the problem was the monitor and said they had the part in stock could fix it in 3-5 days.
After about 3 days in their possession I called them for a status update. They said they'd call back. I had to wait till the end of the day. Not a big deal really. They told me that it wasn't my monitor that was causing problems, it was the GPU so they'd have to keep it for another to swap GPUs.
I called the day after and tried to just have a conversation with a genius to see if my computer was ready. They said they'd call back.
This time they called back much later to tell me that they had broken the computer and the thing won't turn on. Now they will have to replace the WHOLE computer with a new one.
Ok, I thought, I'll get a more modern unit. So I gave them the weekend to update me on anything and called them on Monday to find out when I could expect my computer. They said they'd call back.
This time they didn't return my call. So to get some answers, like when can I expect my computer and why am I not in the loop, I physically went to the store to talk to the manager. Instead of listening to my problem, Sharon the Manager seemed more interested in getting me out of the store than listening to my problem.
I asked her when my computer would arrive, she said she didn't know and that it was apparently being shipped cross country. So I asked her about maybe a shipping tracking number so I could track it. She said she'd email it to me. That was 7 hours ago and still no contact from them. I'd really just like to have some detailed information.
My question is, who do I go to submit a complaint. I tried apple.com/feedback but it has nothing about the genius bar or their service. Is there a regional manager?

    Hi Mcetta,
Very sorry to hear of your experience at the store. A couple of options:
1.) You can either go back to store, or call them and ask to speak with the store's general manager. The woman you spoke with, Sharon, was she the store manager or one of the assistant managers? Each store has one "store/general" manager but has several assistant managers. Your concern of getting your machine back and in your possession is a pretty valid claim, especially considering you haven't had it for a while. Give them a call... stay cool and collected (not indicated you wouldn't, just saying) and I'm sure the store will make things right for you.
2.) You can call into Applecare technical support, as to my knowledge, the systems that the stores and the phone agents access are available to one another. I know when I've called in for support, the phone agents can see my previous case history from my retail visits. As an above posted stated, you can reach out to Customer Relations. It doesn't make sense to call into troubleshooting line, simply because you're not troubleshooting anything.
I really hope this all ends in your satisfaction and I hope that Apple is able to make things right for you. Best of luck!

  • Sort order when using "Album by Artist/Year" album list view

In iTunes 10, I seem to have lost the sorting I've been using for the past 5 years at least. I use the "Album List" view, and have the album artwork showing to the left of the songs. I see the new "Album by Artist/Year" sort option in the album artwork column, and that is how I would like it to sort. However, now the album are arranged by artist, and within the artist by the year they were released as tagged in the info for each song. I want the newest albums at the top, and I cannot figure out how to make it sort that way. What do I need to do? Basically I want it in descending order by release date, but still sorted by album.

    dannycorker wrote:
It appears they are, although I refuse to believe this is the accepted behaviour - has no one else complained about this?
It could simply be a weakness is the way this was all designed. If you look at the information Gracenote uses, it's not unusual for all tracks on a 60's compilation album to be incorrectly listed as the same year, often the year the compilation was released. The same thing tends to happen with re-issued albums. That's down to whoever inputs the information into Gracenote for that album, often a bored record company employee.
First of all, you could try changing the year for each documentary to the year the album was produced and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, then you have to decide how to handle it.
    Accept it as it is.
Change the year for the documentary to the same year as the album and simply kid yourself that it's the correct year. (I'm not being flippant, but if the documentary is all footage from album release year, then "technically", the doumentary is from that 60's year.)
Leave the year of the documentary track blank, but put the year (2010) into the track's "Comments" field instead.
Propose a workable solution to Apple via Apple Feedback. (I am being a bit flippant now. Sorry, but you'll be in for a long wait before anything might change.)
Get Gracenote to change their text fields, get the people who input the information into Gracenote to do so correctly and then get Apple to change iTunes to recognise those changes. (Now I am being very flippant. Good luck with this one!) Oh! And hope Apple never decide to change from Gracenote to someone else!
Number 2 or 3 are probably your best bet.

  • Hi! Album by Artist Question?

When I transfered music from my old computer to my new one using Home Share I noticed that the first column to show up was the album by artist column. Is there anyway to fix this and restore the original order of my outlook beginning with the name and so forth? thanks

Clicking on the heading for the Album column cycles between three views *Album, Album by Artist & Album by Year*. Whichever value is displayed in the heading the field value is simply Album.
While iTunes doesn't give the user any facilites for multi-layered sorting some of the columns do not simply order things by the value of the single field they represent. Album by Artist is more properly *Album by Album Artist* and in pseudo-SQL it would go something like this.
SELECT * FROM Selection ORDER BY Sort Album Artist, Album, Disc #(Empties Last), Track #(Empties Last)
Where there is no Sort Album Artist value it is infered from the first non-empty value of Album Artist, Sort Artist or Artist. Where there is no Sort Album it is infered from Album.

  • ITunes 9 sorting Album by Artist shows multi-cd albums out of order now

    Hello,
This has worked before in every version of iTunes I have used. iTunes 9 now lists my multi-cd albums' tracks out of order. For instance, it lists them as track 1 of disc 1, then track 1 of disc 2, then track 2 of disc 2.
It used to list them correctly as Disc 1 of 2, track 1-x and then disc 2 of 2, track 1-x, in that order. Why did they break a perfectly good thing?
I use 'list view' and sort by 'Album by Artist', anything else my my huge library just slows it to a crawl.

I'm in the same boat. I always use Album by Artist.
My work around for now is to add the Album Artist field to the library list and sort on that field. It seems to work ok.
I'm able to edit my post ok here.
I see that my solution only works if I've put in the album artist. Other wise, they go to the obttom of the list as "Unknown". This shines a spotlight where I haven't put in Album Artist so I will now work on cleaning that up.
I hope they can fix this quickly.

  • Album by Artist Sort Column

If you are trying to sort using the ALBUM column, and it appears as
ALBUM BY ARTIST, which mine did, you will notice that compilation
albums will scatter throughout the column. The album will not be
grouped as it should be like a normal album.
here's a little nested egg i came across tonight to help.
click on the column title, where it says, ALBUM BY ARTIST (it may
read differently per user) and you'll notice the title and sort parameters
change to ALBUM BY YEAR and just plain ol' ALBUM.
worked for me and i hope it helps someone else.

Thank you Fizzlestix for posting your discovery about changing the type of sorting done in the Album column! One of the first things I noticed about v. 7 was a different column heading in my music Library ('Album by Year') and I could not get the thing to sort albums in any way that was meaningful to me. (The column header remained 'Album' in all of my playlists and continued to sort alpha order which is all that I need.) A long search in the iTunes Help didn't turn up anything helpful (not unusual).
I should have turned to this discussion forum sooner.
I have other questions now that I will soon be posting here.
    Thanks again.

  • Sort album by artist or album by artist/year & compliations behavior

    I am running iTunes 10.4.1.10 on Windows 7 (64-bit)
I was wondering about the behavior of sort album by artist or album by artist/year. Instead of sorting solely by artist or artist/year, it seems to take into account album artist. Is this correct? Previous versions of iTunes (iTunes 7 and iTunes 8) used only the album and artist field not album artist. Is there anyway to force it to sort solely by artist and ignore album artist?
I am wondering because I currently use the album artist field to hold information about featured artists, featured instrumentalists, conductors, alternative band names, etc and reserve the artist field to describe the more generalized album artist. For me, this organizational scheme works better because my iPod does not feature offer any access to album artist. My current solutions are to roll back to iTunes 7 or 8 or change the sort album artist field for every entry which has information in the album artist field; neither of which are long term solutions.
Finally, I would like to group compliations (musical soundtracks, movie soundtracks, etc) where the artist might differ by album but still use the sort by album by artist to organize the rest of my music using List View. Is this possible?
I really wish iTunes provided more options for sorting music.
    Thanks!

Album Artist has been supported since iTunes 7 (7.1 I think) and normally takes preference over Artist when it comes to grouping tracks in iTunes. As you say the iPod Classic doesn't work quite the same way. You'll find my extensive thoughts on fixing things at http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp You might find that different vlaues of Group Compilations and Use Album Artists restore the view you were familiar with, otherwise it might be time to rethink the strategy.
If it is simply a mattter of swapping Album Artist with Artist then I can (and will) rustle up a script for that... It will end up on the list at http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/scripts.asp shortly. More complex rearrangements of properties are also possibe once you know what you want to achieve.

  • ITunes 10 How do I get rid of the "Album by Artist" column?

Okay, I don't like the looks of iTunes 10 in general, but I can get used to it. The font was so small, I found where to kick it up to "large" but I can't figure out how to get rid of that first horrible column "Album by Artist" and the column next to it with a number in it that I have absolutely no idea what it's for. I want those two columns OUT. I can make them smaller, but I can't move them or delete them.

Select *List view* instead of *Album list view*. These are in the View menu or the boxes next to Search, on the right top of iTunes.
and the column next to it with a number in it that I have absolutely no idea what it's for. I want those two columns OUT.
In List view, you can turn off every column (in menu View > View options) except track name.

  • Browse Albums by Artist problem

? Hello everyone, I've had a quick search and couldn't find the answer so here goes. I have a Zen 32GB player which I only use for music. All of my albums are sync'd with WMP without any problem, however.... when browsing on the player, if i search by aritist and then by album I find that the album does not contain all the tracks. This happens where another artist has contributed on the track, or if the track is a cover version. Is there a way I can browse albums by artist properly (i.e. they way anyone would search for an album in the real world)?and see all the tracks correctly? Its really infuriating.
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Happy Christmas!

I think this will all come down to the tags. I've never seen a technical discussion of exactly which tags the Zen pays attention to and how it resolves ambiguities (say when there is both an "Album Artist" and "Artist" tag).
You can probably work out a decent hypothesis on your own by comparing the tags of songs that end up in the album vs ones that drop off. How are the multiple artists encoded in the tags? For MP3 tags the character forward-slash ( "/" ) gets special treatment as a magic field separator in some tags (which at times can be awkward). I don't know if the Zen honors that, though.

  • How do I email or submit a complaint?

I've heard about Verizon's legendarily bad customer service, and I've experienced some frustrating episodes before, but it wasn't until this morning that I fully appreciated how awful it can be to deal with Verizon Wireless.  The only thing that keeps me from leaving is that ATT is probably not much better.
After finally resolving my issue this morning (not the way I want to spend a Saturday morning), I asked the customer service rep to provide me with an email address so that I could submit a complaint and inquire as to how to avoid such unpleasantness in the future.  I was put on hold for five minutes, only to be told that there was no email address, but that I could use the "leave feedback" option on the website.  First, why did this take five minutes? Second, why doesn't Verizon Wireless, a communications company, have an email address to allow customers to communicate with them.  Just wondering.  Third, I cannot find that option.  Please point me in the right direction.  Fourth, please tell your automated message thingy to stop calling me.  It's ridiculously hard to get through to Verizon when I want to, and when I want to be left alone I keep getting unwanted calls.  It's like Verizon is taunting me.   I could go on, but at some point I have to get on with my day.

Their tech support is horrible.... ive been with them for 19 years and i miss the old days when they had techs in their corp stores..  now all their tech supports consist of is..  1) replace your phone 2) replace your sim card..  if you have a issue that is out side of the box.. you are (removed). ... ive been dealing with tech support almost every day for 5 weeks.. they put in trouble tickets. the people who do the trouble tickets dont read them and give a blanket reply of....  the issue is due to the customers house.. meanwhile im complaining of issues not only inside my house.. but OUTSIDE of my house as well. so they instantly say.. network extender needed.. i said to them.. the network extender will reach  miles from my house?  even the tier 2 techs are saying the network techs are NOT reading their notes.. they cant be.. cause their answers make no sense.. but this is the support i get regardless.  when they run out of options. they say... we are sending you another phone.. i said.. you realize we are getting close to 10 right??   bottom line is. the biggest cellphone provider does nothing more than throw phones and sim cards at you when you have issues..    like everything now a days.. no on actually works on anything.. they just replace it..

  • How do I submit a complaint to Verizon?

Does anyone know if there is a way - other than posts in this forum - to submit a complaint to Verizon about its customer service?  Or am I doomed to wander Verizon's barren wasteland of customer service for eternity? Several weeks ago, I called to order a premium channel and was offered a 50% discount.  I accepted, the channel was turned on, and yesterday I received my bill, with the channel charged at full price.  I called the same number again tonight to get the discount applied, and was told it could not be applied because the Verizon system did not show that I made any calls to Verizon...since 2012.  Had it all been a dream?, I asked myself.  But no, there on my bill it showed that I had clearly called to order the premium channel on March 27th.  Looking back now, I'm not sure why, but I spent several minutes trying to understand how this could have happened, and why it could not be easily remedied by simply honoring the discount, but I had no success.  I asked to escalate this with a supervisor, who I hoped would be able to solve the mystery of the missing discount for me.  Wouldn't you know it, the rep informed me, the supervisors are all in a meeting!  And, miraculously, it was scheduled to end exactly when the customer service office closes, so I would not be getting a return call tonight.  I asked to submit a complaint, upon which I was told I could not submit a complaint about the discount, because there was no notation of the call on which I was offered said discount.  Before my mind had a chance to explode, I asked if there were any other avenues for submitting a complaint about this. Surely that customer service rep is cackling to herself now, having delivered me into the kafkaesque hell that is the Verizon customer service website.  Initially presuming some reasonableness in the design of a major website, I began by clicking on the "Contact Us" link for billing questions, and was rewarded with reams of options for registering my complaint; alas, they appear to have been written in white font on the white Verizon backdrop:Forging ahead, I imposed upon the friendly looking avatar in the upper right to ask the question, "How do I make a complaint?"  The response was vexing indeed: I wondered, am I . . . the first one ever to complain to Verizon?  How else to explain the machine's inability to comprehend such a simple request?  Excited now, I pressed on for a solution, and found that I could try the Verizon support "community."  So here I am, asking why Verizon would lead me on this path to air my complaint for all to see, my criticism snowballing, rather than provide an easy way to seek an answer to my original question. Unfortunately, unlike fictional travelers of an infinite loop, attempting to navigate Verizon's "customer support" has cost me an hour of my night and fair amount of my sanity.  If anyone has any ideas how to escape this, they would be very much appreciated.

Two days now, I have been attempting to get an answer. Yes, I have a complaint. And, the documentation to support it exists. Have been a long time FiOS customer in Newton, MA (must be over 15 years). We were one of the first on our street to pioneer with Verizon. And, we have had nothing but great things to say about the product service, technical support (when needed) and the customer support (when needed). We are in the process of retiring to Virginia and on our list of "needs" was a FiOS wired home.On July 28th, Verizon confirmed FiOS was available in the actual UNIT we were looking to buy (this knowledge led us to seal the deal on the condo -- that's how important FiOS quality and service is to us!). Here is a copy of our resulting online Verizon FiOS order for service at the condo that we purchased on August 4th. I also have an accompanying transcript of the Chat discussion where an actual (as in "alive") customer service agent walked me through this order. We ordered all the same FiOS services as we had in Newton, FiOS to FiOS. (Note the titles "FiOS" that appear below on our actual order ).Service Address[address redacted]

Let's get to the point. What we have in our condo is internet, cable tv, and phone (yep, the bundle) delivered over a DSL phone line! Yes, FiOS fiber optic is connected to the building's basement. And ends there. From that point on, a telephone wire is used to connect the condo down to the FiOS line in the basement. A DSL telephone wire (from the stone ages!!) that is incapable of providing FiOS quality and speed. This deception has led us to purchasing a home that does not have the Verizon services promised by Verizon. To say we're disappointed does not even BEGIN to capture the emotions we are experiencing.VERIZON: Will someone there, with authority, contact us about running coax cable instead of telephone wire and make this right?
