  • Problem in aligning dynamic UI with the static UI

    Hi All,
    I have problem in aligning dynamic UI with the static UI, I am using Matrix layout.
    Static fields are spread over 2 colums and 3 rows:
    lableA SPACE input field SPACESPACE lable B SPACE input field
    lableC SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableD SPACE dropdown
    lableE SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableF SPACE dropdown
    Now when a value is selected in C, than E becomes visible, and depending on the values selected in E, there are dynamic UI generated, i.e dynamic lables and depending on some validation it will be either a dropdowns or input fiels or both.
    at run time screen is like this:
    lableA SPACE input field SPACESPACE lable B SPACE input field
    lableC SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableD SPACE dropdown
    lableE SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableF SPACE dropdown
    dynaSPACEdropdown
    dynbSPACEinput field
    if I change my selection in E than layout looks like:
    lableA SPACE input field SPACESPACE lable B SPACE input field
    lableC SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableD SPACE dropdown
    lableE SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableF SPACE dropdown
    dynaSPACESPACEdropdown
    dynbSPACESPACEinput field
    Requirment: I need all the lables as well as dropdown/ input fiels in line with the static fields irrespective of my selection in E.
    Something like this:
    lableA SPACE input field SPACESPACE lable B SPACE input field
    lableC SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableD SPACE dropdown
    lableE SPACE dropdown SPACESPACElableF SPACE dropdown
    dyna   SPACEdropdown
    dynbSPACESinput field
    dyncSPACESdropdown
    All this elements are in a group and that group has 2 transparent containers, 1 for static and for holding dynamic UI.
    I tried playing with the container properties, and also tried fixing width of dynamic UI but still the alignment issue is encountered.
    Can U guys plz give in ur valuable inputs as i need to fix this urgently.

    Hi Armin,
    Can you please elaborate your solution ?, I do not have an idea of InvisibleElement & IWDView.resetView() ,
    If you can give me the exact pointer than it would be great and a good learning exp. for me.
    Thanks for the action assignment part, it worked.
    if (wdContext.nodeMaterialClass().size() > 0 && wdContext.currentContextElement().getActionMatCls()) {
         if (wdContext.currentMaterialClassElement().getMaterialClass_Description() != null || !wdContext.currentMaterialClassElement ().getMaterialClass_Description().equalsIgnoreCase(" ")) {
               IWDGroup Searchgroup = (IWDGroup) view.getElement("DynGroup");
    Searchgroup.destroyAllChildren();
    view.getContext().reset(false);
                                                      for (int i = 0; i < wdContext.nodeMaterialCharateristcs().size(); i++) {
                                  //this for label
         IWDLabel CharLabel = (IWDLabel) view.createElement(IWDLabel.class, "label" + i);
         CharLabel.setText(wdContext.nodeMaterialCharateristcs().getMaterialCharateristcsElementAt(i).getDescr_Char());
         CharLabel.setDesign(WDLabelDesign.EMPHASIZED);
         CharLabel.createLayoutData(MatrixHeadData.class);                              CharLabel.setWidth("154px");                              Searchgroup.addChild(CharLabel);
                 further there are conditions to create either dropdown or input field
    Can you please point where and how to apply your solution.

  • How to align text paragraphs with caption text boxes

    Hello,
    Im moving from QuarkXpress to InDesign, and Im setting up styles, templates, libraries, etc...
    The issue Im having is that when I add an image with a text caption box in one of the columns, the text that wraps around the caption text box, no longer aligns to the other columns, its off. I can't get it to realign to the other columns.
    Any help is appreciated.

    1. Is the leading of your caption the same as the body text? If not, you have to choose to align the top of the first line (slightly jarring) or bottom of the last line.
    2. It appears to me you have the caption vertically centred. That will make it far harder.
    To make it feasible to do manually, you can set the caption box text frame to start at offset "Leading", move the text frame to start exactly at the bottom of the image, and make sure all your images' heights are multiples of your leading. Group the caption frame and the caption box to make moving around easier.
    "Align to baseline" would be a good option, except that I find it too constricting on the entire rest of my designs (viz. the already observed "jump per entire line only"). One way around that is to set up your baseline grid to half, 1/3, or 1/4 of your leading. That way you have at least some control left over inter-paragraph whitespace, and you can still manually drag your images and have them snap to the closest "actual" baseline.

  • How do I align check boxes with text in the form?

    I'm most of the way there but I am stuck fixing the formatting misalignments.
    1. What controls the little checkboxes? What's the best way to align them with the text?
    2. Part of the form is controlled by some form-specific css and  part is getting inherited from the body. What's the best approach to make sure they match?

    Thanks Liam. I haven't done a site for a while so I'm a little rusty but I did finally figure it out using Firebug. At first I couldn'tfind the applicable CSS but when I tuurned on the element selector in Firebug, well, Bob was my uncle.
    The site is based on a Twitter Bootstrap template modified for BC. Since the few changes to the css only apply to that one page, do you think there is any reason not to leave them embedded just on that page given that they will not apply anywhere else. I don't want to change the Bootstrap css but I could create a mystyles.css. Is there any reason to do so?

  • Align image left with css

    Hi, I have a simple question. I am using the following line
    in my css file to apply a background image to a canvas:
    Canvas {
    background-image:
    Embed("/images/Icons_Final/connected.png");
    What would I do to align that image to the left of the
    canvas. I can't seem to find any documentation on these specific
    types of properties within CSS. Also, if anyone could point me
    toward a nice concise list of all the properties available in
    FLEX's CSS, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

    CSS is not a substitute for HTML, it is a styling
    companion… it stands for Cascading STYLE Sheets… It is
    a method to apply uniform styles to a page or all of your pages on
    your site. You still need to use the full functionality of HTML or
    graduate to PHP, SQL, or other methods of adding functionality to
    your site.
    As for animated image links… use animated .gif files
    and just apply a link to it. You will get all kinds of advice and
    opinions on whether animated .GIFs are appropriate, classy, ugly or
    tacky… but if animated links are what you want, they work.
    If you want animation in the sense of Flash buttons, buttons
    that blink, change colors, images, etc. when moused over or
    clicked, you can use CSS for this effect.
    Make 2 to 4 images with your graphics editor, sized to fit as
    background images behind text. Try 100x15 pixels to start. Then put
    this code in your CSS file for links:
    .left a:link {
    color: #FFF;
    .left a:visited {
    color:#CCC;
    .left a:hover {
    color: #FF6699;
    background-image: url(images/left-hover.jpg);
    .left a:active {
    color: #F00;
    background-image: url(images/left-hover.jpg);
    I used this to define a left side and right side set of
    links, but you could apply this to all your links or just a named
    set.
    This will produce links that can very closely approximate
    flash buttons but still maintain a text based link that can be read
    by the search engine browsers.
    Hope this is helpful…

  • Column's Right Alignment goes out with CR in format Mask like NNN,NN0.00CR

    I am working in Reports 6i. For a numeric calculated column, I give format mask NNNN,NNN,NNN,NN0.00CR. Due to CR, right alignment of the column goes out. That is rows for which CR is NOT printer are also aligned at right. A blank space should be left at the end of every row when no CR is printer. Muhammad,
    I tried this on 6.0.8.14.2 version of Reports 6i and it aligned properly (i.e., spaces where present for those values without CR). I originally had the Arial font which as you know is not a fixed font and in this case, the spacing was not exact. I switched to Courier and the output was much more readable for the numeric values, especially with the spacing.
    Regards,
    Jim Safcik
    Thanks Jim Safcik. I changed the font of that column to Courier and it resolved the problem. But I am using Times New Roman font which creates above alignment problem.
    It would be nice if we have an other solution which is NOT font dependent.
    However I appreciate your guidance and knowledge.
    Pl. guide.
    Thanks.

  • SQL to align child values with parent columns

    Hi everyone,
    I'm stumped on how to develop an sql query that generates a report where my child values are aligned with my parent columns based on matching years.  Here's the example...
    create table test_yr (yr_id number primary key, yr_nb number);
    insert into test_yr values (1,2013);
    insert into test_yr values (2,2014);
    insert into test_yr values (3,2015);
    create table test_parent (parent_id number primary key, parent_yr_id_begin number, parent_title varchar2(100));
    alter table test_parent add foreign key (parent_yr_id_begin) refererences test_yr (yr_id);
    insert into test_parent values (1,1,'This rec starts in 2013');
    create table test_child (
         child_id number primary key,
         child_parent_id number,
         child_yr_id_begin number,
         child_title varchar2(100),
         child_yr1_val number, child_yr2_val number, child_yr3_val number, child_yr4_val number, child_yr5_val number
    alter table test_child add foreign key (child_parent_id) references test_parent (parent_id);
    alter table test_child add foreign key (child_yr_id_begin) references test_yr (yr_id);
    insert into test_child values (1,1,3,'This rec starts in 2015',10,20,30,40,50);
    insert into test_child values (2,1,3,'This rec starts in 2015',15,25,35,45,55);
    The child can start at a different begin year than the parent, making yr1 for parent and yr1 for child different.  So for this example, year 1 of the child (2015) = year 3 of the parent.
    I can get the values strictly from the child using the following...
    select child_yr1_val, child_yr2_val, child_yr3_val, child_yr4_val, child_yr5_val
    from test_child
    where child_parent_id = 1;
    However, I need the report to be based off of the first five years of the parent.  And since the child doesn't start until 2015, the first two years should be zero.  Here is the expected result:
    yr1 | yr2 | yr3 | yr4 | yr5
    0   | 0   | 10  | 20  | 30
    0   | 0   | 15  | 25  | 35
    I'm trying to do this using plain sql without having to use pl/sql to derive a dynamic query.  But I need to somehow match up and align the years... such as in this example, yr1(child) = yr3(parent), yr2(child) = yr4(parent), etc.  I'm hoping some joins and case statements will do the trick, but I don't quite know how to utilize them to get the result I need.  Can anyone help?  Oracle 11gR2.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks so much for your reply!  I'll try to digest this solution and implement it this weekend.  I also agree completely about the table design...  I know apps shouldn't drive database design,  ...
    If you get indigestion, feel free to ask questions here.
    The SELECT ... PIVOT feature isn't very convenient for dealing with missing values.  You may prefer to change the main query like this:
    WITH unpivoted_child AS
        SELECT  child_id, child_parent_id
        ,       child_yr_id_begin + child_yr - 1   AS column_num
        ,       val
        FROM    test_child
        UNPIVOT (    val
                FOR  child_yr  IN ( child_yr1_val  AS 1
                                  , child_yr2_val  AS 2
                                  , child_yr3_val  AS 3
                                  , child_yr4_val  AS 4
                                  , child_yr5_val  AS 5
        WHERE   child_parent_id  = 1
    SELECT    NVL (SUM (CASE WHEN column_num = 1 THEN val END), 0)  AS yr1
    ,         NVL (SUM (CASE WHEN column_num = 2 THEN val END), 0)  AS yr2
    ,         NVL (SUM (CASE WHEN column_num = 3 THEN val END), 0)  AS yr3
    ,         NVL (SUM (CASE WHEN column_num = 4 THEN val END), 0)  AS yr4
    ,         NVL (SUM (CASE WHEN column_num = 5 THEN val END), 0)  AS yr5
    FROM   unpivoted_child
    GROUP BY  child_parent_id
    ,         child_id
    ORDER BY  child_parent_id
    ,         child_id
    Also, if you want to see how SELECT ... PIVOT works, this can help show you.
    Having 5 separate columns for input can be very conveninet, just like having 5 separate columns for display.  But, as you said, that shouldn't drive the table design.  If necessary, you could create a view that has 5 separate val columns, like your current table, and write an INSTEAD OF trigger for user input.

  • ADF Faces Components:how to align af:panelBox with fields in af:panelForm?

    Hi,
    I have an af:panelForm component to which I added af:selectOneChoice and few af:inputText components. af:panelForm aligns all af:inputText fields properly with labels being right justified and the input fields left justified.I wanted to add af:panelBox at the end but don't know how to align it with the input fields.
    I wrapped the last input field and the af:panelBox inside af:panelBorder but this didn't help. I still get af:panelBox displayed at the extreme left hand side.
    I could put af:panelBox inside another af:panelForm but that does not work for me because af:panelBox happens to be target of a PPR, source of which is the af:selectOneChoice. Depending on the selected item of ad:selectOneChoice, I want to either show af:panelBox or hide it. So I had to include af:panelBox in the same af:panelForm that contains af:inputText so that both source and target of PPR are at the same level for PPR to work. I can also add af:objectSpacer before af:panelBox to get the alignment i am looking after but this again doesn't help because when window is restored or maximized, then the alignment gets lost. Any clue how to achieve that ?

  • Once more on right-aligning footnote numbers with GREP

    For some jobs I want the footnote numbers in the notes to align on the period that I have IDCS4's Footnote Options add (along with an en-space) as the Separator between the note number and the text of the note.  No big deal if I define the footnote paragraph style with an "Align to Decimal" tab and then insert that tab at the start of the note.  I recently bumped into this thread from 2009 where RodneyA described this in more detail, and Eugene Tyson added a GREP search to automate adding the tab: replace (~F) with \t$1.
    I cannot get this to work in IDCS4.  Did it work in earlier versions?  Earlier this year Jongware explained that GREP cannot replace a footnote marker, only look ahead or behind the marker to replace whatever.  Unfortunately, in my footnotes there's nothing ahead of the footnote marker for GREP to replace until I manually put my tab there.  Adding those tabs to hundreds of notes by hand isn't so bad (jumping with Ctrl + arrow keys), and ID's propensity for occasionally eating a note means I need to check them all anyway.  But am I wrong in thinking that if I want to automate adding the tabs I'll need to do so via JSX?
    Thanks,
    David

    David, when stating you cannot get something to work it's important you also tell why
    But when I tried your "replace (~F) with \t$1" for myself it became real obvious straight away: the code ~F does not only indicate "the footnote reference number" but also the footnote itself in the text. So, while it works in the sense that you get a tab before the footnote number code, you get loads of extra tabs in your text as a bonus.
    There are several ways to circumvent this. The most obvious is to limit the replace operation to just the paragraphs styled with your footnote style. If that's a unique one (mine usually is), it'll work straight away. That's Eugene's first answer in the previous thread -- possiblly you forgot to set this Paragraph style in the Find Format field.
    Another way is to only add a tab when the footnote number code is at the start of a line:
    ^~F
    replace with
    \t$0
    (You are correct in noticing the "lookbehind" trick cannot be reversed to a lookahead for just 'start of line followed by the footnote number code'. It's a Limitation of InDesign's particular flavor of GREP.)
    This one may fail if you ever have a footnote at the start of a paragraph
    Yet another way is to try to make use of the vertical position of the footnote number code. If your references are in superscript (which is fairly regular) and the numbers in the notes themselves are not (which they may or may not be), you can look for
    ~F (+ position: normal)
    and replace with itself plus a tab before, as above. (A variant could be to use a character style for the superscripted references and look for [None] character style to pick up the ones inside the footnotes.)

  • Printer aligns BUT only with Black and Blue all other diagnostics print with all colours

    Initially when installed the printer REFUSED to align, took 7 attempts (OK I have heard of Einsteins quote !). Each time I used the printer screen to ALIGN PRINTER - the process failed. So I looked on the web, and:
    Cleaned the cartridges,
    Cleared the vents
    Removed and cleaned the printhead
    Prayed
    Tried again
    All to no avail, so then I tried doing the diagnostics via the PC software, and here the mystery deepened.
    When running the HP Photosmart B210 Series tool box I got three differing results from the three printing options
    A Print Quality Diagnostics Page gave me Ba full five colour printout
    Align Printheads gave me black and blue lies/boxes/grids and the Alignement Successful message
    Print Diagnostic info gave me all four colours with lots of meaningful info including the 73 Print head Calibration COnfidence Level:0
    Any Ideas ANYONE, before I bin this and buy a Kodak or Epson in disgust
    This question was solved.

    What exactly is the issue?  The alignment aligns the color printhead to black printhead, and only one color (cyan for your printer) and black are needed for that.  (There is likely an additional set of blocks that prints gray blocks fading to white.  This section is used to calibrate the energy for the colors.)  The other test pages you printed will print various diagnostic or test pages which will use all the colors.
    A successful alignment page requires the page be printed on unused white paper and requires that the black and cyan sections are printing properly.
