  • How to change the default left alignment setting in Word 2010 professional (personal use)

Hi, I use Word 2010 Professional for my personal use at home, and somehow the default setting for the left alignment in a new Word document has been changed to a hanging indent at .25.  So every time I open a new Word  document, the left margin
has an indent setting.  I have to change it to 0.0 every time, which is annoying.
I've tried to go into the "Options" section, under "Custom Settings" to de-select an auto left margin indentation, but I can't seem to find an option to do that.  Can anyone please tell me how to change this setting in the master Word 2010 template,
so that every time I open a new doc, the left side is aligned at the 1" margin with no hanging indent?
    Thank you.

  • How to stop changing stroke weights when changing the size of an object in CS5 on Windows 7?

I'm not sure what I did to make this happen or how to change it back, but for some reason when I change the size of an object/line it changes the stroke weight as well. (For example, if I drew an ellipse with stroke weight 2 pt, and then increased the size the stroke weight would be 2.856 pt or some such number instead of 2 pt.) Does anyone know how to change this back?
    Thanks!

Take a look at the Scale Strokes and effects preference either in the general programme preferences or in the flyout menu of the Transform palette.

  • How to change Font size and alignment in Appraisal document - Font settings

    Dear Eperts,
We are working on 360 Appraisal. Can Any body explain how to change the fornt size and allignment (text wrapping to wndow size) in Appraisal document.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ajaykumar

    Hello Ajaykumar,
if I am not completely mistaking the 360° Appraisal uses the Adobe Forms.
In this case the font can be set in the Adobe Live Cycle Designer by selecting "Palettes" -> "Font".
Here is a discussion which addresses this question, and also contains a link to how to handle Adobe Forms:

  • Align Stroke To and Snap To are incompatible.

This has always bothered me. I am wondering if anyone can defend ID's current stroking behaviour. If not it should be fixed.
Changing the stroke alignment on an object changes the dimensions of the object. Does this ever make sense?
If anyone begins to answer in the affirmative, then they should immediately go to jail, do not pass go. There they should be forced to ponder the quirky behaviour of snap to as it relates to stroke.
Regardless of which stroke alignment is used, a frame will always snap with the stroke to the inside. This means that if a centred alignment is snapped to guides, changing to align stroke to inside will result in a box half a stroke away from the guide, changing to align stroke to outside will result in a stroke centred on the guide. But repositioning any of these to snap to your guides again, will result in the stroke being inside.
The only stroke alignment that changes to what it should in relation to a guide is align stroke to inside. But the user still loses the ability to snap to a guide if the stroke alignment is changed.
This shouldn't have needed this lengthy explanation. This is how snap to guide should work:
Stroke aligned to inside: outside edge of stroke snaps to guide.
Stroke aligned to centre: centre of stroke snaps to guide.
Stroke aligned to outside: inside edge of stroke snaps to guide.
    Does anything else make sense?

    > But that wasn't exactly what I asked.
It still describes the behaviour; by extrapolation your example would also yeild a single stroke. If you wanted both strokes to show, resulting in a double thickness, both would have to have the same alignment, i.e. both inside, or both outside. This is simple and intuitive: opposing alignments cancel, same alignments multiply.
    > Now I think you are misunderstanding me. What you describe is the current behavior.
I don't think I misunderstood. That's why I answered, No. The behaviour of the content is fine and as it should be. The content should always be defined by the path. Any behaviour change such as you were hinting at (Do you shrink the content when you force the frame to shrink by moving the stroke from inside to outside?) would be horrendous. For the behaviour modifications I propose, we can safely ignore considerations of the frame's content. But I will say this in clarification. Traditionally printing has always preferred a situation where the border of a quad slightly overprints the content; a centred stroke both protected against content printing outside the border and against a white line forming inside of the border. The idea that the content scale to accommodate a stroked border that a quad should be reduced something like 99.873% just so that the outside two or three rows of screen dot would NOT be overprinted will never make sense to me on any level.
    > You don't have to select any points.
"(selecting the appropriate anchor points and contraining their movement)" Perhaps I should have said "and/or." But really, I not inclinded to entertain arguments that amount to "the more awkward, unintuitive, and difficult way that you say you shouldn't have to use isn't as bad as you think." Yes it is. Moving objects around in your layout and snapping them to guides should be done by the selection tool. The direct selection tool is micro management and intended for manipulating content in relation to the object.
    >I'm sure that well over 90% of the time I'm more interested in snapping the "visible" outer edge of an object
That simply doesn't make sense to me. First, and I repeat, the most simple-minded interpretation of align stroke to outside means the stroke is put outside. What advantage is there to having three different choices if all three have the same result when snapped to a margin? You may as well stick with Quark's simple one choice: the border is always inside the item. Having different behaviours for the different doesn't restrict you. Use align border to inside 90% of the time.
    >And I get the sense that you don't like to use the coordinate fields for positioning
Not necessarily true, just not relevant to the topic. I am talking about the behaviour of snap to as it is affected by the stroke alignment. There is no need to confuse the issue. If I have guides in place, and an object selected, there is no simpler way to position that object than by using snap. Or at least there shouldn't be.

  • Align stroke not selecting

    Greetings!
I am currently working on creating a vector for a friend. At this point I have drawn a line with the pen tool and simply need to use "Align Stroke" to have the stroke start to the left of the line. Yet the other 2 options remained "Ghosted" out. Any idea how to get these active?

"Align Stroke" only works on closed paths. To offset an open path use a "Stroke Profile".
With the stroke selected choose the "Width tool" (Shift-W)
Double click on end of the stroke and set one side to "0" and the other side to any width
Do the same for the other end of the stroke, using the same numbers.
Now open the "Profile" option in the bottom of the Stroke panel and save the new Stroke Profile, naming it "Offset" or something.
You can now change the stroke weight while maintaining the offset path.
By adding this profile to your default document you can reuse it any time.

  • How to change the default text style?

The MacOS system seems to maintain a collection of text 'styles' available in applications such as TextEdit, Bean, MacJournal, Notebook and DevonThink. This collection contains a default style, used by some (but not all) of these applications as the default text style for new documents.
At my computers this default style is characterized in the 'favorite styles' panel as 'left aligned, spacing 0.0x' and it has strange tab stops (0.99, 1.98, 2.96, 3.95, 4.94, 5.93, 6.91, 7.90, 8.89, 9.89, 10.86, 11.85 cm).
I prefer tab stops at 1.00, 2.00, 3.00 etc., and 1.2x line spacing.
I guess I have changed the default style by accident, as I cannot imagine Apple putting such strange tab stops in a default style (0.0x spacing sounds a bit strange too). If so, it must somehow be possible to change the default style.
I have tried to change the default style via TextEdit (which does not use the default style as default, but spacing 1.0x and tab stop at each centimeter) and several other applications (Bean, MacJournal, Notebook) in the following way: select a piece of text with the intended format, open the document styles panel, click 'Add to Favorites', enter 'Default' as the name for the style and click 'Replace'. Unfortunately, that doesn't work. Although I do not get an error message, the Default style hasn't changed. I can save my preferred style as, for example, 'Preferred' but that does not prevent MacJournal and other applications from using Default for every new document.
Any idea how to change this default style, or, if that is not possible, reset it to its original state?

I suggest you have a look at [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/stationery/?src=api Stationery].
It won't help you in defining styles, as such, but will give you templates wherein you can set up styles.

  • How to change default vertical page co-ordinates from center, to top?

    Hi There,
We're having trouble understanding why InDesign centers the page instead of aligning the view to the top when switching pages (and copying and pasting) - and how to change this behavior.
To understand what I'm talking about, do the following:
Create a new document (any size)
Use the page tool to to change the height
Create a new page and use the page tool to make the height a lot taller
    Now switch between the pages
Notice how InDesign always shows you the center of the page?
This is frustrating in many situations like copying and pasting - try the following:
Create a box on the first page and align it to 20mm from the top and 20mm from the left
    Copy the box
    Switch to the second page
    Paste using CMD + OPT + SHFT + P
The object should be pasted in the same spot (20mm from the top and 20mm from the left) but it isn't - on the vertical, it's pasted relative to the center of the page for some reason.
It surprising how annoying this becomes when you're constantly re-positioning pasted items or when switching between web layouts of different heights - it becomes a two step process instead of one.
Does anyone know how to change this behavior?
Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated - we're using CS5.5
    Cheers
    Ben

Thanks for the replies - sorry I didn't reply earlier but they went to junk.
Why in the same spot if pages have different size?
In general, sure - but what about letting the user define a point of reference? For me, it's always the top left corner like the rulers - I completely understand if that doesn't work for others but it would save me so much wasted time constantly repositioning objects.
Also, in a lot of documents with different page-sizes, setting the reference to top left (or whatever you set your rulers to) actually works a lot of the time - granted, probably only for those that use the numbers to position objects.
Anyway, what I'd like to do is find out how to set a document-wide reference point for co-ordinates - obviously you can't do this right?
Another thing that wastes time (in a similar vein) is the ability to set defaults for translation, rotation and flipping etc.
Almost without fail, I find I want top left when moving (because I set rulers to top left) but center for rotation and flipping. Being able to set a default per translation type would save a lot of pointing and clicking.
    Is this possible?

Hi, I'm working on a document in PAges 09. Any idea on how to change the document color? I want it black instead of white.

    Nichelle,
You must add your own background object, and then make it Black.
    Insert > Shape > Rectangle
In the Wrap Inspector, set to Floating.
In the Graphic Inspector, set Stroke to None and set Fill to Black.
Grab the corners of the document and stretch the document to cover the entire page.
Back in the Wrap Inspector select "In Background".
Format > Advanced > Move Object to Section Master.

  • How to change the order of albums iOS 8?

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 5 to a 6 Plus. Everything is fine except for the fact that some of my music is in the wrong order. There are some groups that released multiple albums in the same year, and I would like them to be in the order of when they were released. On my 5 I was able to put them in the right order by going on a computer, changing the sorting, then update iTunes Match to have it change on my phone as well. (example; group came out with album "1" and "2" same year and it defaults to "2" first, then "1." I was able to change it on the iPhone 5 to be in the right order by changing how they are sorted from my computer but that doesn't work on the 6 Plus.) I would like to order it where it goes top to bottom, with the newest on top going down. How would I do this?
    Thanks

    Hi Jason,
How to change the order of tables within sheets
Make a table active by clicking in it once to select that table, then drag it by the 'bullseye' (top left, I have placed a red circle to show the bullseye):
    After dragging the table down:
Table 1 is now below Table 2.
The blue line is an Alignment Guide
    Two types of Guide:
    1. Menu > View >Show Rulers. Drag Alignment Guides from a ruler to where you want them.
    2. Menu > Numbers > Preferences > Rulers > Alignment Guides. Turn on (tick) both guides. That allows you to align objects with *each other* (as well as with the ruler guides). These guides help to align objects left, middle, right, top, bottom.
Alignment Guides do not show unless you are moving an object.
to drag/move table to another sheet in the one file
Not possible in Numbers 3. The Sheets Pane has gone. Instead, select the entire table (click once in the table to make it active, then click on the bullseye). Copy (or Cut if you are brave). Go to another Sheet and Paste.
Also can you change the size of sheet tab width on tab toolbar, so I can see more sheets at once??
No. Let's hope this will be added in future updates. However, you can drag a Sheet tab left or right to reorder them.
Another tip: each Sheet tab shows the contents of that Sheet, with some options such as Duplicate and Delete:

check out the smart styles...create a font of ur size n use.
Define the paragraphs & character formats using SMARTSTYLES & use them in your smartform.
You have to give the smartstyle name in the Form attributes-->Output options for the formats to be used in your smartform.
You can define font size in Smartform Style.

  • How to change the font size of text element in smartform

    Hi
i want to know how to change the font size of text element in smartform
    regards
    Gincy

    Hi
You can create Smartstyles, in which you can define paragraph formats for texts and character formats for character level changes.
Paragraph format ---> alignment, font size etc
character format for ---> superscript, subscript.
After creating, in your smartform, there will be a option in the text element to enter a style.
You give the created style and you can use the paragraph and character formats i that style.
    Hope this is clear..

If I use Move up/down column

  • How To Change Key Figure Name

    Hi Gurus,
Is it possible to change the name of a Key Figure in Demand Planning? For example, in DP, i have a Key Figure name 'Sales Forecast'. The 'Sales Forecast' currently appears in every Planning book it was set.
Now, for alignment of understanding, I need to change the name from 'Sales Forecast' to 'Sales Demand' . Basically, i just need to change the text that appear in the Planning book and in the extracted BI reports.
Logic of Key Figure will remain the same. Is this possible? How do I go about this? I only know of how to add a Key Figure but never thought of how to change the Key Figure name/description.
    Thanks in advance!
    Nap

    Hi,
You can change it in 2 ways.
1] Go to each Planning Book in Edit mode.
In that go to a Tab called Key Figure Attributes.
Select your Sales Forecast Key figure from the dropdown   against Key Figure.
Then in Description click the radio button Free Text and give your new name which is Sales Demand.
This you have to do for all the PB in which this KF is used.
    2] Go to RSA1 : Admin Workbench
Under Modeling section go to InfoObject.
Select your KF. Double Click on it. Or right click and go to Change mode.
Then change the Long and Short Description of the KF as desired.
    Save & Activate the KF.
This will change your KF description for all the PB in which you have used the same PA.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Pushkar

  • Why when I switch between a centre-aligned stroke and fill do my anchor points move?

Hi there, I've been using Illustrator for many years and never noticed this happen before when I fill a shape - can anyone explain why this is happening?
I'm drawing a logo using a centre-aligned stroke, rounded rectangle and another stroked path merged together to make my logo outline....like this...
....and when I change my centre-aligned stroke from a stroke to a fill and back again (to make the shape solid black), the anchor points of my shape move.....after about 10 time so fswitching between fill and stroke, fill and stroke etc my paths look like this....
Why is this happening??? It doesn't do this when I use a stroke aligned to the outside or inside of the path - just when the storoke is aligned to the centre of the path? CAnanyone explain why this happens? what it going on here?
    -thanks in advance!
    -Pete Moore

No I don't mean 'outlining' a stroke - all I'm doing is changing a stroke'd box to a fill and back again using the 'Swap fill and stroke" button on the main pallet.
When my (rounded rectangle) path has a stroke applied to it, and it has the stroke aligned to the centre of the path, the anchor points of a rounded rectangle move slightly every time I swap from a filled shape to a stroked shape.
If I apply a stroke to a path (again -  a rounded rectangle)  that has the stroke aligned to the outside or inside of the path, then the anchor points do not move - however many times I swap between fill and stroke.
I've been wondering why when I re-apply a stroke to a filled object (and that stroke is alinged to the centre of the path)  - I get slight movement with the anchor points (do it alot of times and it can really mess with rounded corners).
Draw a rounded square, apply a stroke to it (a center aligned stroke), click the 'swap fill and stroke' button (shift + x)  a few times, watch the box move slightly every time you click.
