Hi
is there a way to set the same width for several select lists located vertically in one column ?
Thanks

  • Set Character Width of Select List

    Hi All,
    I have a select list on my apex page. It is a dynamic select list generated from a sql query. Does anyone know how to set the max character length of the list item, as some of my entries are enourmous and the select list takes up the width of my page.
    Thanks in advance!

    User,
    What is your name?
    You would do this with the LOV query. Here's an example:
    SELECT
       CASE
          WHEN LENGTH(display_col) > 50 THEN SUBSTR(display_col,1,47) || '...'
          ELSE display_col
       END display,
       return_col AS return
    FROM my_tableRegards,

  • How to set width of a select list?

    Hi,
    another newbie question from me :-)
    When I create a select list the default width is 30, no matter what I set this value to the width of the select list stays the same, it gets as wide as the widest element in the list. This messes the design of the page. I f I have three select lists in a column I want them to have the same width. How do I accomplish that?
    /Magnus

    Edit the item and in the HTML Form Elements Attributes field type the following:
    style="width:120px";adjust the 120 to whatever width you like

  • Select list width and printing output

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me how to set the width of a SELECT LIST control? I have tried to set but it is always dynamic and depends on the width of the data items of the list which are supposed to be displayed. Can i fix the width, jsut like simple text field.
    I want to print a text from my pl/sql procedure on the web page from where i am caling the procedure. I tried using DBMS_OUTPUT, but vain. I actually want to print a customized error message on my web page at the occurrence of any exception.
    Thanks
    Salman

    Unfortunately it is not working. I have following exception block in my procedure. control will transferred to the exception block if my query to remote database failed over the database link which this procedure just created.
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    BEGIN
    htp.p ('Database connect information incorrect, please provide correct database connection information');
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP database link '||p_db_name;
    END;
    But, i don't see this message printed on my web page. Instaed, i see exception thrown by the the calling procedure of this procedure which also queried over the same database link.
    Thanks

  • Select list width

    Hi,
    how can I make 'select list' width smaller (strings in list are long)? Setting 'width' and 'maxWidth' properties doesn't show any result?
    thanx
    alek_mil

    Go to HTML Form Element Attributes of the select list and try to enter something like:
    style="width:190px"
    This will control the width as you want.

  • Align Layers to Selection: more options please

    On the Layer/Align Layers to Selection menu, can we have additional combinations of options?
    Ideally:
    Top Left
    Top Right
    Bottom Left
    Bottom Right
    Center (i.e. horizontal and vertical combined)
    It’s annoying having to do two trips to the menu for this at the moment.

    Ah, I see now. Your totally correct, I wasn't savy to that technique.
    You can have several non vector layers, lets say a bunch of retangle selections made with the marque and filled, stacked on top of eachother but not center aligned on the their x values and not aligned to the center of the canvas. When you select all the layers it will center their x val to eachother. If you select them and then do (Select > all) it will center align their x to the center of the canvas.
    Very useful to know, thank you. You can see why I missed this though right? It seems more like a useful bug in it's exicution rather than a thought out feature (not saying its a bug : p). Like the selection made by the (select > all) becomes an it's own "layer object" the size of the convas that is added to the list of selected layers, thats why the alignment then works to center it in the canvas. It's a short cut to what I used to do -  select all on a new layer and fill a color in the layer so that the other layers align to it. To me using select all is not very apparent since Logically I think of it as I'm aligning layers. Hence why I actually used to make a full width and hight layer to center align things.
    That said, I stand by my request for adding a visible toggle option in the Options bar of the Move tool. I feel It is much more discoverable method. It would have been hard for me to figure your technique out on my own it took a while for me to process because of how I interpreted the behavour of (Select > All). Down side to my feature request is that it may be slower to power users. It would requre switching the toggle back and forth instead of a quick hotkey. Maybe Adobe could have it do both? It could be Align to Eachother by default and your shortcut to select all would still behave the same way, but if a user is not savy to that they can toggle the align to canvas option and be able to use that method.

  • Change display value of "select list"

    Hi!
    I have a problem with a select list, I want to change the display value through an own pop up (page 5 of apex application) after I submit in it.
    The select list is based on a sql query:
    select A_NAME display_value, A_ID return_value
    from APPLICATIONS
    where a_application_type='GROUP'
    order by 1
    beside I have an link to open a pop up window:
    ... onClick="window.open ('f?p=&APP_ID.:5:&SESSION.::::', 'newWin',
    'scrollbars=no,status=no,width=500,height=270' ...
    On the pop up site there is a tree and a submit button which close the window and renew the original page:
    javascript:window.opener.location.reload();window.close();
    Through the tree I get the value (Group-ID) which I need.
    When I'm back on page 4 a "before header" renew page process links again on the side 4 and change the value of my select list. Afterwards the values have changed correctly but the display value is still the old one. It only change when i go on an other page of the apex application and come back.
    I don't know why it doesn't change immediately!?
    Thanks ahead

    I have done with a solution just in a nutshell of what u r looking for:
    1.create HTML region.
    Add two items : Select list with redirect(P6_X) and text field(P7_X)
    2. Select list is based on LOV query as :
    select empno d,empno r from emp ;
    Source value is Empno Type:DBcolumn.
    3.The text field Source type : SQL Query .
    Query : select ename from emp where empno = :P6_X
    Now select from the dropdown empno and it will populate the Ename value accordingly based on the query .
    U can have more than one text fields and populate those in the same way.....

  • Column width in finder LIST view

    I am using Yosemite.  This issue has been driving me mad for years and try as I may I cannot find the solution.
    How do you set a default column width in Finder LIST view for all folders?  Whatever I do (for example VIEW OPTIONS, USE AS DEFAULTS) does not work.
    Can anybody help? I would use third party plugins if I could find something that controls this.  Please note: I am using LIST view NOT column view.
    Many thanks

    Like Jim, I also generally use Icon view for folders containing images, and have the View Option to show item info selected. Column view will also show image dimensions (both of these work, provided the folder has been indexed by Spotlight).
    If you want to see the dimensions, but also want to view the folder contents in List view, the best you can do is bring up the Inspector (Command-Option-i), expand the More Info section, then move down the list using the arrow key. The Inspector pane's contents change with each new selected item, and the More Info section includes the dimensions.

  • Setting current values in Multiple Select List in SQL Query based Report

    Hi,
    I have a report based on a sql query that contains a multiple select list. Unfortunately I cannot get the multiple select list to display the current values (p_value) correctly. I have created a page item, :p311_current_versions, that is set using a pre-header process and it returns a value with a colon delimited format e.g. '10.1.2.1.0:10.1.2.2.0'. Then this item is used in the sql query to set the current value (p_value) of the apex_item.select_list_from_query function. However when the table is displayed, instead of having two entries, 10.1.2.1.0 and 10.1.2.2.0 selected, it has an extra entry '10.1.2.1.0:10.1.2.2.0' selected.
    Here is my code:
    select distinct a.product, a.version from (
    select distinct
    apex_item.display_and_save(2,product)||apex_item.hidden(1,env_product_id) PRODUCT,
    APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY(3,decode(product, 'HTTP Server' , :p311_current_versions, version), 'SELECT distinct version d, version r FROM ebs_tech_stack where
    product ='''||PRODUCT||'''',
    decode(PRODUCT, 'HTTP Server' ,'multiple="multiple" style="width:170px"','style="width:170px"'),
    'NO') as version
    from ebs_environment_tech_stack
    where environment_id = :p311_umgebung_id) a order by a.product
    If anyone can help me figure out how to set the current values correctly I'd be really grateful!!
    Thanks in advance,
    Jean

    Jean,
    I don't think this is possible using the apex_item package. The select_list_from_query function accepts only a single value for the second parameter.

    mistake in guide corrected.

    Hi Matt,
    which version of APEX are you currently on?
    With ApexLib Framework you can have cascading select lists in normal forms, but not in a Report or Tabular Form. Also refreshing a Report when changing a select list doesn't work out of the box. You would need to add some javascript. But i think this isn't what you wanted.
    brgds,

  • How to populate another page item based on cascading select lists?

    Oracle 10gXE
    APEX 3.2
    I've created cascading select lists based on the examples (using Javascript and AJAX) that i've seen on this forum. Thanks for help on that!
    Now that I have these LOV's being populated without needing to submit the page, how do I take the value that is presently in each LOV and concatenate them together to populate another page item? I'm trying to build the URL string that will execute an Oracle Report once the user clicks a button.
    Previously, when I had multiple Select Lists with a submit, the URL was being put together using an After Submit Computation that would set the value for an item (P26_REPORT_URL) on the page. Notice that a report parameter (i.e. parameter name and Select List value) is only included if the user has provided a value. The page item that holds these values is then referenced by a button for URL redirect. The URL Target for the button currently is: javascript:popupURL('&P26_REPORT_URL.'), but will not work at the moment because P26_REPORT_URL page item is not changing based on what is selected in the LOVs. Since I'm not submitting anything (do I need to?), how do I put together the values needed?
    Computation for P26_REPORT_URL:
    DECLARE
    l_param VARCHAR2(2000);
    BEGIN
    l_param := '&REPORTS_URL.&report=&P26_RPT_VIEW..rdf&desformat=&P26_DESFORMAT.&destype=cache';
    IF REPLACE(:P26_OLO_CODE,'%'||'null%',NULL) IS NOT NULL THEN
    l_param := l_param||'&p_olo_code=&P26_OLO_CODE.';
    END IF;
    IF REPLACE(:P26_BEG_DATE,'%'||'null%',NULL) IS NOT NULL THEN
    l_param := l_param||'&p_start_dt=&P26_BEG_DATE.';
    END IF;
    IF REPLACE(:P26_END_DATE,'%'||'null%',NULL) IS NOT NULL THEN
    l_param := l_param||'&p_end_dt=&P26_END_DATE.';
    END IF;
    IF REPLACE(:P26_ORG_CODE_2,'%'||'null%',NULL) IS NOT NULL THEN
    l_param := l_param||'&p_org_code=&P26_ORG_CODE_2.';
    END IF;
    IF REPLACE(:P26_FLAIR_ORG_2,'%'||'null%',NULL) IS NOT NULL THEN
    l_param := l_param||'&p_flair_org_code=&P26_FLAIR_ORG_2.';
    END IF;
    IF REPLACE(:P26_BUDGET_ENTITY_2,'%'||'null%',NULL) IS NOT NULL THEN
    l_param := l_param||'&p_agy_code=&P26_BUDGET_ENTITY_2.';
    END IF;
    RETURN l_param;
    END;

    Andy,
    This is a great suggestion! After I posted, I started looking at a Javascript solution and figured it's probably what I had to do.
    However, now the cascading select list no longer working for some reason after I added the function to concatenate the item values. When I remove the showReport() function the select list works again.
    Here is what I have in the HTML Header portion of the page:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function popupURL (url) {
      w = open(url,"winLov","resizable=1,width=800,height=600");
      if (w.opener == null)
      w.opener = self;
      w.focus();
    function showReport()
      var l_param = '&REPORTS_URL.&report=' + $v('P26_RPT_VIEW') + '.rdf&desformat=' + $v('P26_DESFORMAT') + '&destype=cache';
      if ($v('P26_OLO_CODE' != '')
       l_param += '&p_olo_code=' + $v('P26_OLO_CODE');
      if ($v('P26_ORG_CODE_3' != '')
       l_param += '&p_org_code=' + $v('P26_ORG_CODE_3');
      popupURL(l_param);
      function get_AJAX_SELECT_XML(pThis,pSelect){
         var l_Return = null;
         var l_Select = $x(pSelect);
         var get = new htmldb_Get(null,$x('pFlowId').value,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=ORG_SELECT_LIST',0);
         get.add('TEMPORARY_ITEM',pThis.value);
         gReturn = get.get('XML');
         if(gReturn && l_Select){
             var l_Count = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("option").length;
             l_Select.length = 0;
             for(var i=0;i<l_Count;i++){
                 var l_Opt_Xml = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("option");
    appendToSelect(l_Select, l_Opt_Xml.getAttribute('value'), l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue)
    get = null;
    function appendToSelect(pSelect, pValue, pContent) {
    var l_Opt = document.createElement("option");
    l_Opt.value = pValue;
    if(document.all){
    pSelect.options.add(l_Opt);
    l_Opt.innerText = pContent;
    }else{
    l_Opt.appendChild(document.createTextNode(pContent));
    pSelect.appendChild(l_Opt);
    </script>

  • Display select list from query on manual tabular form

    Hello,
    I'm trying to display a select list from query on a manual tabular form. I'm using a collection to store the data. I can't seem to get the query to work. I can display the item as a text item. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Elizabeth.

    -- I also apply an id to each entry

    I got so frustrated I started over. I'm following the how to create a manual form.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/howtos/tabular_form.html#MANUAL
    The problem I'm now having is even though I display items as hidden, there is a column holder on the report for them. If I go into the report attributes and toggle the show attribute off I cannot reference an items value in my logic. I used /&nbsp/ for the column heading but I still get the little sort arrow where the column heading should be. I tried to toggle the sort attribute off but the sort arrow still shows up. How can I use the apex_item.hidden and not get a place holder for the column on a report? Thanks, Elizabeth
    Here is the code I'm using to generate the report:
    select x.ceah_people_lang_id,
    x.language_id,
    x.proficiency,
    x.ceah_people_id
    from (
    select apex_item.hidden(1,ceah_people_lang_id) ceah_people_lang_id,
    apex_item.select_list_from_query(2,language_id,'select language_name, language_id from foreign_language') language_id,
    apex_item.select_list_from_query(3,proficiency,'select name, id from proficiency') proficiency,
    apex_item.hidden(4,ceah_people_id) ceah_people_id
    from ceah_people_language where ceah_people_language.ceah_people_id = :P152_person_id
    union all
    select apex_item.hidden(1,null) ceah_people_lang_id,
    apex_item.select_list_from_query(2,null,'select language_name, language_id from foreign_language') language_id,
    apex_item.select_list_from_query(3,null,'select name, id from proficiency') proficiency,
    apex_item.hidden(4,null) ceah_people_id

  • Select List & Pop-up Page

    Hey everyone...
    I am having some trouble with passing values to and from a pop-up window. When running the application the user must select a value from a select list (which appears in every row of a query report), then another page must pop-up displaying another query report. The user then select a row from that report and the window closes, returning the values of that row.
    I am able to do everything, including returning the values to the original page, except for sending values to the pop-up itself. I need to send the pirmary key value to the pop-up.
    The select list is a query based LOV. In the element attributes field I have:
    onchange="triggerPopUp('#TABLE_PK#');"
    The syntax for triggerPopUp is the following:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function onceYouPopYouJustCantStop(table_pk) {
    var sendpk = table_pk;
    var url;
    url = 'f?p=&APP_ID.:30:&APP_SESSION.::::PK_30:'+sendpk;
    w = open(url,"winLov","Scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=320,height=600");
    if (w.opener == null)
    w.opener = self;
    w.focus();
    </script>
    The window pops up, but the value of TABLE_PK is not recognized. If the function call is used in the URL for a column link it works perfectly, but I need it to happen after the select list is changed...
    any help would be great...

    the onchange is on the dropdown column, which is not the TABLE_PK column. I can use this.value to find the value of the drop down, but not any other column. getElementById does not work. If I use getElementById or simply #TABLE_PK# in the HTML Expression field it will give me the value. But I'm trying to place it in the Element Attributes field, which seems not to work the same way.
    If I could somehow refer to the drop-down item (which is a query LOV, not an HTMLDB created item) through the element attributes, I think it would solve my problem...

    hi jari,
    In the HTML header i added this code
    <script type="text/javascript" src="#APP_IMAGES#jquery-1.4.4.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function htmldbIrtPagination(pRet){
    var p=$.trim($('#apexir_DATA_PANEL').find('td.pagination').find('span.fielddata').text());
    var a=new Array();var n=new Array();a=p.split(' ');
    $.each(a,function(i,v){if(!isNaN(v)){n.push(v)}});
    n.push($v('apexir_NUM_ROWS')*1);
    switch(pRet){case 'first':return n[0];case 'last':return n[1];case 'max':return n[2];case 'show':return n[3];default:return n}
    function RetMinRow(){
    var lS=$v('apexir_NUM_ROWS')*1;
    var lM=htmldbIrtPagination('max')*1;
    var lN=lM*1/lS*1;
    lN=Math.floor(lN*1);
    if(lN*1>1){lN=lN*1*lS*1+1;if(lN*1>lM*1){lN=lN*1-lS*1}}else{lN=lM*1}
    return lN
    </script>and in region footer
    <div id="first_last"><table><tr><td style="cursor:pointer;cursor:hand">
    <img align="absmiddle" alt="&lt;&lt;" title="&lt;&lt;" src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#srmvall.gif" onclick="gReport.navigate.paginate('pgR_min_row=1max_rows='+$v('apexir_NUM_ROWS')+'rows_fetched='+$v('apexir_NUM_ROWS'))" />
    </td><td style="cursor:pointer;cursor:hand">
    <img align="absmiddle" alt="&gt;&gt;" title="&gt;&gt;" src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#smvall.gif" onclick="gReport.navigate.paginate('pgR_min_row='+RetMinRow()+'max_rows='+$v('apexir_NUM_ROWS')+'rows_fetched='+$v('apexir_NUM_ROWS'))" />
    </td></tr></table></div>Could give the suggestion why it is giving like that.
    Thanks
