ALL CONTACTS DISAPEARED AGAIN!!!

This is the 2nd time this has happened to me. There was a post earlier that told me to rename the file addressbook.data.previous to addressbook.data and it would restore my files. This is not working.
PLEASE HELP. I cannot afford to lose this files. They also used to be on my IPod, but are off of it too!

My wife and I share an iTunes account. Is there any way to set up a seperate one for her to sync her phone contacts, iCloud and music to without having to purchase all her music again and then share going forward?
It would be so much easier having seperate accounts but we have hundreds of her purchased songs on my account and she would need to be able to access these from her account. Possible?
Also, if we bought a song in future we would want to be able to both have access to it.
Alternatively, what is the easy way to sync two distinctly different contact lists to one iTunes account?
    Thank you in advance.

FYI: iTunes account (used to make purchases) is not the same as iTunes library (iTunes on your computer with music, movies, etc.).

Will we have to create a seperate account for her, or can we all have the same one?
You can but you will not be able to limit what she syncs.
I would like to avoid 'checking' and 'unchecking' individual songs every time one of us tries to synch our ipods to the library.
I don't recommend using (only) the checkmarks to select what to sync.
Each of you can create your own playlists then sync only those playlists.
Then add/delete from your own playlists to change iPod content.
The only time I uncheck items is if I rarely/never want to sync them to anything, such as Christmas music or old audiobooks.
I suggest you each have your own computer login account. Then everyone has their own contacts, calendars, and everything else.
You and your husband can share an iTunes library and let your daughter have her own.

  • All my contacts disapeared, how do i get them back

all of my contacts disapeared, how do i get them back?

If they were on your device when you last backed up to iCloud, you may be able to recover them by following Winston Churchill's user tip here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4841.

  • What causes iPhone to lose all contacts, and how can I stop it happening again?

iPhone 3gs, still running 5.1.1 because I actually rely on the mapping software.
A few days back, it started randomly exiting various apps for no reason.  Today, I tried powering off and re-starting, but when it re-started it had erased all contacts.
Last backup was a couple days before, so I won't have lost anything crucial, but this is the first such disaster since bying the phone 3 years ago.  I see numerous complaints about this, and no real solution or explanation offered from Apple.  I figure it's about time to replace my phone, so this will be a test: either there will be a clear explanation and a solution, or I'll switch to Android.

What are you syncing them WITH? Do NOT say iTunes. iTunes is NOT a contact manager.
If you're syncing them with your computer, your choices are MS Outlook or Windows Address Book on a PC, and Contacts / Address Book on a Mac.
If you are not syncing your contacts with a contact manager or cloud service, you are NOT syncing your contacts.
    See this document: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
    Particularly this item and disclaimer:
Contacts* and Contact Favorites (regularly sync contacts to a computer or cloud service such as iCloud to back them up).
    * Your contacts are part of the backup to preserve recent calls and favorites lists. Back up your contacts to a supported personal information manager (PIM), iCloud, or another cloud-based service to avoid any potential contact data loss.

  • IPhone 4 - iOS 5 upgrade - LOST ALL CONTACT DETAILS

I upgraded to  iOS 5 and now I can't get to any of my contact details.
    What I have -
The list of my contacts is displayed under the contacts option, but when I touch any contact name it takes me back to the home screen. Can't make any phone calls. But I can receive phone calls and the caller-id displays the correct name too. So my guess is the information is there somewhere, I just can't seem to find it or use it.
What I have tried so far -
    1) Resynced contacts from the Info tab in iTunes. I get the following error msg - "iTunes couldnot sync contacts to the "iPhone" because contacts are being synced over-the-air
    2) turned off sync over wi-fi from iTUnes. Tried syncing again. Same error message as above.
    3) Tried going to "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" under settings, it takes me back to home screen. It displays the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" details screen for about half a second and takes me back to home screen.
    4) Went to iCloud under settings and tried to turn off teh "Contacts" from there. It simplays doesn't turn off. I can turn off everything else listed under there, but contacts. No matter what I do, it stays on.
    5) Signed into iCloud.com with my account. The contacts info there has only one contact listed (mine).
    6) Tried to edit contact details from one of my recent text messages. Doesn't work. Takes me backto home screen.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this. At this point I can't even use the main function a phone should be performing, i.e. make calls from my stored contacts.

I had the same problem. Time Machine proved invaluable here. I opened up Address Book, selected "All Contacts", started up TIme Machine via Spotlight, and scrolled back to the day before I ran the 4.2.1 updater. Bada bing, all contacts restored to the address book! Simply did an iPhone sync after that and all was well again.
    Still, nasty bug Apple. :-|

  • All Contacts   won't open a new contact page

I am a first time owner of a new iphone4 which was professionall set up and synced (Macbook Pro, ipod) for me.  I was successfully enterering contacts when the ALL CONTACTS + function unexpectedly froze.
Not sure if I hit something in error and have no idea where to investigate this problem.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
    * Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
    * Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

  • How can I create a list of all contacts in my 'sent folder'

    Hi,
One of my email accounts has been hacked. So I need to contact everybody I ever sent an email again to warn them about fake emails sent from potential impersonators. First, I want to gather all their email addresses, maybe creating a distribution list and send a generic email. But they are a lot, so copying and pasting is not an option. On the other hand, the 'previous recipients' list contain all contacts from all email accounts I have.
Second, I do not want anybody to see the email address from others as they belong to different organizations. Can anybody help me out?

Apparently not. So I installed MIcrosoft Outlook for Mac and imported all the stuff. It was worth the hour or so I spent on it and I have a distribution list.

  • I've just purchased an ipad2 and have synced it with outlook to get all contacts.  I've also set up my earthlink mail account and it sends/receives fine.  IS there a way to sync it so I get all of the legacy emails sitting in the OUtlook inbox?

I've just purchased an ipad2 and have synced it with Outlook to get all contacts, etc.  I've set up the mail account and it is working just fine.  The sync doesn't pull over legacy emails from Outlook and my Outlook has been set up to remove them from the webmail server therefore they aren't available from webmail anymore.  Is there anyway to pull them over to the iPad?

But is there a way (simple or not-so-simple) to find
out EVERY SINGLE FILE that's referenced on a
timeline? (I have lots of stuff imported into the
project that I know isn't used on any timeline, but
I'm afraid of moving or deleting things for fear of
    never finding it again.)
I'd love to get some sort of "printout" (a list or
    something) of every single file.
There is, go to browser and cntrl click on any one of the columns,
and select - show/source. A new column named "source" will pop up and will show where everything "lives". Click on the header at the top and it will justify the column as well. You'll notice this won't show anything for your seq.'s. of course, but will show stills/audio/motion files...
Once you have the new column, you can drag it next to the "name" column and get a grab of it and print it if you like, or whatever.
If you want to do this for just 1 seq., then can create a new bin and double click it to open it. Cntrl-A (select all) in your main seq. and just drag all into the new bin. You will see only what's in that seq. with the "source" column right next to it.
From what I've read, you seem to get the MM thing and it's obviously what you'll need to do to archive as the guys said. But what your missing is a file path system to where everything resides.
Hope this helps and that I've read you properly,
    Peace

  • IPhone 5 Sprint shows wrong number in All Contacts. How can I change it in iOS 7.1?

I bought an iPhone 5 16GB for sprint on eBay. When I swapped phone it wouldn't let me call out or text. My data worked but everything else didn't. I switched from a galaxy s3. Now the weird part is that Under All Contacts it doesn't show my number. Same thing under Setting>Phone. Both were wrong and I don't know what to do
I called sprint and best buy. I did the ##update# numerous times. What can I do to fix this? It's on IOS 7.1. Any advice?
    I would greatly appreciate it.

iMessage and FaceTime work with iCloud. Change your Apple I.D in iCloud as well as in iMessage (SETTINGS - MESSAGES). Either turn off and on again iMessage and it would ask you to sign in with your Apple I.D or change it at "Receive at" by clicking on "Apple I.D" (Sign out and sign in with your new Apple I.D.)

  • IMessage - I changed the time on macbook pro and now it won't let me log in. All contacts are shown in red.

I have a macbook pro, bought new in Sept 2011.
Yesterday, I changed the date (forwarded it to 2020 - for a silly reason) and then changed it back. Now my iMessage on the macbook shows up that all contacts are offline and when I can't log in.
I've trawled through a number of the already-existing threads on this and tried a few things - in Terminal, or in Systems Prefs but can't get it to work.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks, Pádraig.

Log out or restart the computer and try again. Make sure the date is now correct.

  • What's the difference between "My Contacts" and "All Contacts"?

What's the difference between "My Contacts" and "All Contacts"?
I have no other account other then my iCloud account (from what I can tell), but "My Contacts" has a significantly smaller number of contacts then "All Contacts".
    What's the difference?

Thanks for posting the screenshots, that's helpful.  I didn't realize that you were looking at your groups.
"All Contacts" include (as the name implies) all of your contacts.  Below that are any contact groups that you may have defined.  These would normally be such things as "Work", "Personal", "Doctors", etc.; any groups that you find useful to define.  These contain subsets of the "All Contacts" group.
At some point, perhaps inadvertently, you must have created a group called "My Contacts", or imported it to iCloud from your computer.  At the time this may have contained all of your contacts and would have had the same number of contacts as the "All Contacts" group.  Then over time you probably added 433 additional contacts that were never part of the original "My Contacts" group, resulting in an "All Contacts" group that contained 1465 contacts.
If you don't have any use for the "My Contacts" group, you can delete it by clicking on it on the left sidebar, click the gear icon on the lower left and choose Delete.  If you're concerned about doing this, you can make a backup of this group first by selecting it on the left sidebar, clicking on a single contact within the group, pressing Control-A to select them all (they should all be highlighted), then clicking the gear icon and choosing Export vCard.  This will create a .vcf file that can later be imported back to iCloud if you ever need to (by clicking the gear icon again and choosing Import vCard).

  • IPnone 5 - Lost all contacts and calendar

    Hello,
I lost my iphone5 but I managed to get it back, using the “lost” function available in the find my iPhone app.
I´m afraid that I used the lost function too late, because when I receive the iPhone, I noticed that someone already had changed several things as the device name, all sms were erased, as well as the calendar tasks and all contacts (but not the rest as photos, apps, etc).
    Probably using my iTunes account.
I tried to use iTunes to get contacts back but all information had been synchronized with other contacts.
worst is the fact that all my other devices lost the same info…
Even my itunes, strangely, didn’t let me do the iPhone restore, even though the account is mine. I had to use iTunes of an other PC which I had used in the past.
Even after doing the restore, if I connect to internet, the contacts are lost again…
I also noticed that didn´t have my older backup copies in iCloud.
    Questions:
    1) Is it possible that someone had installed some app or malware in the iPhone?
If so, how can I get rid of it?
    2) How can I protect my self from the chance of someone have now access to my iTunes and icloud account?
    3) Is there any way for me to recover the old configuration, contacts, agenda, etc?
I found in the web some sites presenting software to recover files for iphones
Sorry for sush a long question.
    Please help.
    thanks

How did you delete your account on the iphone?
I have all my contacts in my old iphone and when I synced my new 3G it put the contacts from my computer on my new phone instead of the contacts from my old iphone.
I had synced my old iphone with 2 different computers contacts from my work computer and music, photos, etc from my MAC.

  • I-phone 2.0 update - lost all contacts

This a.m. did the 2.0 update and lost all contacts. Calender good, photos good, notes good, mail good. Did not have on PC but part of download said "backing up information" WHERE?
Did 2nd I-phone right after, before checking the first one, and that download went 100% not loosing anything!
Contacts where different on each phone.

A very similar problem happened to me. Had some issues during the update which I think may have initially caused the problem. Anyway, that was a couple weeks ago. Just today I was trying to figure out a way to restore it again and I got it. Before the 2.0 software is updated the iPhone automatically backups everthing. To restore your contacts, calendar, photos, text messages, and settings following these steps:
    1. Open iTunes on the same computer you performed the update on.
    2. Connect your iPhone.
    3. Right-click on your phone ("Your name's iPhone") under "Devices" in the left column.
    4. Left-click on "Restore from Backup..."
    5. Select your phone from the drop-down menu.
    6. Click Restore.
As I said, this should restore your contacts, calendar, photos, text messages, and settings to the way they were before you updated it. It does NOT revert your phone to pre-2.0 software. The new 2.0 firmware will remain in place!
    Hope this works for you!
Let me know if you're successful!!

  • Not all contacts in "To..." field in Nokia Text Me...

    Hello,
I noticed, that in the field "To..." in Nokia Text Message Editor all contacts are not showed.
After the small investigation I came to this it happened because I've set default tel. numbers for voice connections in my Nokia N70. When I switch off them and refresh the contact list in Nokia Text Message all contacts are appear.
In the the previous version of the PC Suite 6.82 wasn't this problem.
In Contacts list on Nokia Phone Browser everything is all right.
I Have Win XP SP2, PC Suite 6.83.14.1 and Nokia N70.
    All in Polish language.
    Could Nokia fix it?
    Regards

Have you tried resetting the sync history on what I assume to be a Mac, which is done via iSync preferences with the iSync application located in your Applications folder?
If not, quit iTunes, the Address Book, and iCal.
Launch the iSync application and after selecting reset sync history via iSync preferences, restart your Mac followed by syncing your iPhone again to check if this resolves the problem.
