All my comments and mark ups keep disapperaing

Hi,
I have been having the most frustrating problem with Adobe Acrobat Pro, every time i what to use the typewriter tool or any other mark-up tool, once i have written it and clicked away it disappears. This as been happening for a few months now, i don’t know if i have changed a setting somewhere or what but i need this for work and can’t find a solution anywhere.
I would appreciate any advice

I think Adobe should read your problem and make a quick solution. I also suffering with same problem. I also suffer with Adobe Illustrator. Some of Adobe Illustrator components don't install in my PC. That's why I dont use it properly.

Check for 'others' in iTunes against your iPhone.
Restore from a previous backup to reclaim some of it.

when you run the application .
when your pdf gets displayed.
in the acrobat reader itself, in the acrobat toolbar....
there is a colorful button<option> that has a cloud, a ^ sign, and a dialog box like graphics.
when you click on that it has several options for commenting.
check it out i have never worked on it though.

Problems with notes and mark ups in pdf

I'm having problems with the Adobe reader for iPad.
Whenever I modify a pdf file, adding notes or any other mark up, I'm not able to see any of the markups in the file when I open the same file with another application or I send it via e-mail.
Only the digital signature is still visible.

You are correct. When i open it with Adobe i get my mark ups etc. When i use Apple`s pdf view i do not.

Can you share what applications you are using to view the notes after emailing? You have to view the document in a Reader that supports annotations. Apple ships a built in pdf viewer (like the one used in iBooks) that many iOS developers use (e.g. Dropbox, email). This built in PDF viewer does not support rendering annotations. However, many other applications (like the Adobe Reader for iOS and the Adobe desktop products) do support Annotation rendering. Similarly, one of our competitor's PDF viewers (PDFExpert) supports this functionality as well. Annotations are part of the PDF standard and the specification is widely available and we would love to see more renderers support it!

I've run into the issue and it seems to be related to an app not fully supporting the iOS you're on, the reboot doesn't usually solve it.
I've solved it in the following manner(s):
1) Backup the device to iCloud, then erase the iPad (Content and Network Settings).
2) Setup the iPad and choose to restore from iTunes/iCloud Backup (wherever you backed it up)
3) Perform any software updates
I have not tried simply performing the software updates (which may fix it, but if it doesn't you won't be able to perform the above steps).

How can I export comments and tracked changes from Pages to PDF?

I would like to know how I can export my pages document to a pdf that still keeps the comments I had made in the pages version. I am using the latest version of Pages by the way.

Last week I printed a Pages '09 document to PDF and it carried over all the comments and marked up changes. This week I foolishly updated to Pages 5 and it won't do this anymore. If you need to print to PDF and get the comments in the document, you have to switch back to Pages '09, which I am doing tomorrow. Cannot believe they gutted Pages like this.

Enable Reader Rights for Commenting and Markup in Acrobat X Pro?

I am sure there is a nice long thread somewhere on this but I cannot find the old "Enable for Commenting and Review" in Acrobat X Pro (Windows 7, 32 bit). I get basic comments (sticky and highlight) but i need to make a PDF where my Reader X users can make all the comments and markups. I also tried doing the Send for Review task and it still did not have all the tools in Reader X.

File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Commenting & Measuring

We created a pdf document with comments and hyperlinks. On iPad, comments/hyperlinks disappear.

Using Acrobat Pro 9, we created a pdf with comments and hyperlinks to be shared with a large community on the iPad, through a server. Once the document is opened on the iPad, all the comments and hyperlinks disappear. Are we missing a tool on the iPad or is there a different way to create this file? Thank you.

Is everyone on the iPad using the latest version of Adobe Reader mobile for iOS (10.6 at the moment)? You can see all the comments (including drawing markups) as well as view the notes attached to text markup with this version.

please not that the "PRECEDINGAND" (missing space) bug, which had a comment workaround (see Re: wrong convertation of script in view editor is still there and that because of the removed comments, it is actually not possible to get around this one.

With iTunes 11, how do I view all the comments I saved in previous versions

I think I must have been foolish to update to iTunes 11, reading everyone else's hassles.
For now, my trouble is perhaps simple: I used to rely on the old list view, and had entered several comments for the music I have imported into iTunes.
I cannot see how to get such a view back. I simply want to see all my comments, and ideally have all my albums just in a simple list.
The View>Column Browser looks like what I want but I cannot see how to get it enabled - it's grey.
I hope someone can help!

Migrating Comments and Replies

Solving this problem is critical to the workflow...
I manage design review for a large CA state agency. We have been using the Acrobat shared reviews for about a year and a half with great enthusiasm.
The workflow requires the migration of comments and replies from one design submittal to a subsequent set of revised documents (drawings and specifications, typically). Documents are converted to PDF (not plotted as an image).
It is very important that comment and response authors' names stay with the comments and responses (instead of "publishing on behalf of..."). To achieve this, my admin staff will typically follow these steps:
1. Send out the revised documents for shared review.
2. Migrate the comments and replies from the previous review to the revised documents.
3. Systematically change identity to each reviewer / replier: change identity, close/reopen Acrobat, reopen the shared review document, publish for that person only (leave unpublished comments unpublished), change identity to the next review participant, close/reopen Acrobat, etc. until all migrated comments and replies are published to the shared review folder.
This works fine but it is a bit convoluted and time consuming. Replies stay with the comment.
Now the problem:
Not often, but occasionally, a migrated comment and response will find itself on the wrong page or drawing (as the design progresses, pages and drawing sheets are added to the set). It does surprise me that most migrated comments land in the right place. Only the person who wrote the comment can move the comment (the change identity trick facilitates this). As long as the comment is being moved to the correct loaction on the same page, the reply moves along with it. If a comment/reply needs to be moved to a different page, the comment and reply become separated (the comment moves but the reply stays behind). Obviously, one cannot be both the comment author and comment responder at the same time if these are different people.
This blows the whole workflow out of the water, when comments/replies must be moved across pages. It is impossible to move a response back into the comment (text can be copied/pasted but then the current date is adopted. Plus this is extremely time consuming.
Once again, it is very important for the original author and responder names to remain with the sticky note (instead of "on behalf of").
If anyone knows of a trick to move a comment and response to another page, please pass it along. Migrating comments from an archived copy BEFORE sending the revised documents out for shared review results in all comments being published "on behalf of".
I have suggested to Adobe that the review administrator be allowed to manipulate/move/ even delete all reviewers' comments without having to change identity. This suggestion was made well before v9 was released. Perhaps it will be a critical enhancement of v10.
Any suggestions or ideas for a workaround in the meantime would be appreciated.

If it works in a new user account, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Issues with Commenting and Signing

I'm using the latest update of version 10. When I have a document that has comments and I use the sign tool and then it saves the document the comments disapear. I've tried just about everything I can think of but it seems like after you use the sign feature it wipes all the comments and sticky notes out. Any ideas or fixes for this?

This can be done using the Sign pane without having to print the PDF/scanning pages after adding comments/signatures.
You can add text comments using the 'Add text' tool from Sign pane, add your signature using the 'Place signature' option where you can choose from 3 different signing options (typewritten signature, hand-drawn signature or importing signature from an image which can be a scanned image of your signature). After one person has added his comments and signature, you can choose to "finalize" the PDF which flattens the PDF so that the comments/signature of this person cannnot be modified by others. The next person can now add his comments/signatures on this PDF again. After all people are done with signing, you can attach the final PDF to your accounting program. This should work seamlessly.

The built-in Summarize Comments tool in Acrobat only uses the text in the comment itself, so if you've made a bunch of comments without enabling the setting mentioned above, you're screwed... Well, almost.
I've developed a tool that allows you to retroactively copy the highlighted text back into the comment, while preserving any comments you might have made yourself.
