All Photo's GONE

I went to add a few more pic's to my iPad and noticed my entire iPhoto Library is empty (i synched my iPad just a few days ago and all of my pics were there - 6 years worth of my children growing up). At first I thought no big deal since I am running a backup via time machine but they are not there either?? I went back to a few days ago in time machine to restore the old library and time machine is showing there is no library either. i downloaded the iphoto library manager to try and do a restore but that did not work either. in finder, i notice my original library looks to be about the right size (25gig) but i cannot open it, restore it, anything. please help...

i downloaded the iphoto library manager to try and do a restore but that did not work either.
Exactly what did you do with it? WHat command did you use? DId you get any error message?

Recently updated Apple ID and PW.  After change, all the photos were gone from Photo Stream.  How do I get them back?

Did you create these notes in the iPad notes App ... I assume?
This support article will explain how you can restore from a backup - which is what you have to do in order to have any chance of recovering your note.
How to backup and restore from a backup
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
But you have to remember, that you will lose any of the notes that you have taken since the date of the last backup. If you synced your iPad last week, then you will lose a whole week of current notes - or whatever notes you have created since your last backup. When you restore from a backup - you restore everything in that backup onto the iPad - that was on the iPad on the time and date of the backup.
If you backup every day, then all of your notes should be recoverable from the backup - except for any notes that you took since you last backed up. There is no foolproof way to recover everything once you start taking more notes or creating new documents or whatever that you do in an app unless you are syncing those notes with iCloud and backing up all of the time or unless the app is set to sync with iCloud as you work on the files - like in Pages, Numbers or Keynote - Apple's iWorks apps.
If you decide to restore from an iTunes backup you should turn off at sync before you try restoring because iTunes will want to backup your iPad right away when you plug it in and you will lose your old or last backup.

How do I restore all my photos? After upgrading my iPhone, all my photos were gone.

    What photos?
Photos taken with the iphone should be imported to your computer regularly as with any digital camera, most especially before any update or restore.  If you failed to do this, then they are likely gone.  You can try restoring from backup.
Photos synced from your computer should still be on your computer an in you regular backup copy of your computer.

  • All music and all photo's gone!!

After updating to OSX lion and then installing Xcode (also apple) my mac mini crashed dureng tghe install and wanted me to reinstall Lion. So i did and expexted to get all my files back from my TM backup (that is on an external drive). So i thought this worked well (as it did several times before). Untill i opened iTunes and iPhoto: all sourcefiles are gone. And they are also gone form the TM backup files. The entire backup has shrunk about 200 Gb. I called Apple support (10ct per minute) nut nothing could be done.... ALL IS LOST! Great such an Apple sevice. Is this the beginning of gthe decline of Apple?

To have more than 1 backup is a cheap argument at this moment. How many hard drives for back up do I need to cionnect to my Mac?
A cheap argument could have avoided an expensive problem.  As I said, you need a minimum of two hard drives for two separate backups.
Nobody here knows what went wrong in your case.  It's very clear something went wrong, because this is not typical behavior.  Nobody's saying this should have happened, we're just saying that it does not appear to be a "Lion bug," since that would bite someone else other than you.
Corruption is a nasty, creeping, unavoidable problem.  Corruption in a hard drive can easily propagate through backups, yet most people have only one backup, if any at all.  The only way to protect yourself is to have multiple backups.  Even then you could lose data to corruption if you don't also have some archival copies stored away somewhere.
Nobody's saying all this is your fault, we're just trying to point out that this sort of thing will inevitably happen from time to time, and in order to protect your data in the future, you need to do far more than just hook up a drive and turn on Time Machine.

  • Iphoto '08, Snow Leopard - after rebuilding all photos are gone

over 16,000 photos appears lost,  I do have online storage with Crashplan and can download (I think- but the automatic backup process was going on
during the rebuilding process - may be corrupt too).  Iphoto is unresponsive.  Iphoto manager shows my default library will appropriate files, but calculated
size is 29GB which I am sure means nothing there.  Do I remove all iphoto software and reinstall with the DVD before I download the recovered files
from Crashplan?  Today Crashplan phone help is overwhelmed (post holiday?) so I am on my own.  Thanks

    Try this:
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1. Open the library package like this.
    2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    3. Drag the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from that open iPhoto Library package  into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Your original library will be untouched for futher attempts and a fix if so desired.

  • All photos gone!!!!

Yesterday I was downloading off an SD card when iphoto decided to wipe everything, all photos are gone. Running iphoto 7.1.5 on OS 10.6.8 on older black macbook. I tried to restore using the time capsule but it says the disk is full. How do I fix?

Well if you have 100k photos that'll be a lot larger than 24 gigs.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • All photos gone with upgrade to iPhoto 9.6 ???

    Hi!
I updated my Mac to OS X 10.10. Since opening iPhoto required an update to iPhoto 9.6, I made this upgrade as well.
When starting the new iPhoto, I accepted to upgrade the library to the new format. There a mistake was found and a repair was necessary. When the repair was done, all photos were gone. Still the library file had a size of 500 GB, what gave me comfort to see, that the photos must still be there.
Then I opened iPhoto in the repair mode and prompted the repair myself. After a little while it asked whether all found 212,000 photos shall be imported into iPhoto and I accepted. Then it stopped saying that the disk space will not be sufficient and I cancelled the process.
Now looking at the iPhoto library, its size is only 2.69 GB and there are no photos in the masters folder.
There is a new folder "iPhoto Recovered Photos" which includes 121,000 photos (243 GB) - without folder hierarchy, all in this one folder.
It has to be noted, that iPhoto regularly complained about inconsistencies before, which have been repaired.
Unfortunately, we made no backup of our photos ...
Current storage: 466GB free out of 999 GB, 128 GB photos
What can I do to get my photos back?

    1. Make a back up. Make a back up. Make a back up.
Using a computer without a back up is like driving without a seatbelt. You can drive for years with no problem, but the day you do  have a problem the mess will be a lot bigger. Upgrading anything OS, Apps, whatever without first making a back up is drunk driving with a blindfold on and no seatbelt.
    2. I'm not sure what you've got right now. Is the 500 GB library still intact? If not, then really you're next job is to start over from scratch. Make a new Library and start importing all those photos again.
    3. If you do still have that 500 gb library intact, then try Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
    4.
It has to be noted, that iPhoto regularly complained about inconsistencies before, which have been repaired.
If that happens once then it's not a problem, but when you get a message like that "regularly" then there is an underlying damage that's not being fixed.

  • All photos in additional album from PhotoStream disappears

First off, system and device is:
iPhone 3GS w/most current iOS5 & HP Laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Eerything fully up to date on all devices.
I was having issues with Photostream not uploading new photos from the PC's "Upload" folder. Created another album on iPhone and copied all Photostream photos (150) to new album (FWIW the album name is/was "Stuff") Followed instructions to reset Photostream. Instructions say to turn off Photostream in iPhone and that will delete all phtotos in Photostream folder. This did not happen. Instructions also said to delete all photos in Photostream folder on PC. Did that.Turned Photostream on iPhone back on later in the day.
That was yesterday. Today I checked and Photostream and all it's photos (150) are still on iPhone but not in Photostream folder on PC. Try resetting Photostream again i.e. turning off on iPhone and doing the reset from icloud.com acct.
Now Photostream album still exists on iPhone but has blank boxes that just say "jpeg" in them but there are no photos. AND all the photos that were in the "Stuff" ablum are the same way. So all photos are gone.
iPhone was backed up to icloud before any of this happened started. And I have not tried to do a full restore yet.
What is the issue and what do I do to get those photos back? Almost all are NOT replaceable.
    Thanks for your help.

It goes to the Camera Roll so you can import it to your computer and so it will go onto the Photo Stream. You can create your own albums on the device if you wish to put things together in a different manner. Search the App Store for "Photos" to see what other apps are available and which might more closely approximate what it is you are looking for.
    Cheers,

  • Iphoto froze then lost all photos-Help!

Iphoto froze so I forced it to quit several times.  Then i did a safe boot and restated machine.  It would then open but all photos are gone.  How do I restore them?

If you were able to locate the file called 'iPhoto Library' in your Pictures folder then now is a good time to make a copy of it just in case. I lost my hard drive once and the only thing I cared about were the lost pictures of my kids. Now I keep multiple backups.
You can view the files in the 'iPhoto Library' file by holding down the control key when you click on the 'iPhoto Library' file. A menu will appear. Select 'Show Package Contents' and you'll be able to view all of the files in your iPhoto library. You should see a folder called 'Masters' which has subfolders based on year, month, day that contain your images. Hopefully you'll be able to recover easily, but in a worst case scenario you should be able to pull the original images.
You may want to post your question in the iPhoto forum where you're more likely to find iPhoto experts who can provide more in-depth assistance.

launch iPhoto wile holding down the option key and select the original library - when you create a new library of course it is empty
And you seriously need to backup your iPhoto library and purchase and install iPhoto '11 version 9.5.x from the App store and download and run the iPhoto library upgraded \then run the new iPhoto - 7.1.5 is not fully compatible with Mavericks

PS you also need to update your profile - it states that you have OS X 10.6.8

Is there any way we can get them back. I already have the program Asoftech - but it doesnt seem to register the iphone only C and D drive. Please help!

This is called "stealing". You do not have the legal right to give her the music you have in your iTunes library unless you are the copyright holder.
when syncing it it said she had to update her phone software first
That's not quite what it said.  Someone should have paid more attention to the great big warning about the possibility of losing data if the phone wasn't backed up.

It restored the backup that was made on your computer 6 months ago, which did not contain those photos. You're wasting your time trying to find them on the phone. They don't exist.
Hopefully, your friend syncs her phone to her own computer on a regular basis. She needs to plug her phone into her computer and restore it from her last backup. That will restore it to the state it was in when the backup was made.
She also needs to get in the habit of extracting the photos on a regular basis, like she would from any other digital camera.

  • All photos gone after setting up iCloud?? Please help!!!

Hi, I've had my iPhone for about a month decided and decided to finally set up my ICloud. It said I needed to verify my email address, which I did. As soon as my iCloud account was set up, I noticed that all of my photos were gone. Somebody please help!! Why did it do this and is there any way I can get my photos back???

iCloud doesn't "delete" photos. You have lost them some other way. Most people sync to different computer and loose them or sync with computer that that has none saved. Camera roll remains no matter what computer you sync. Restoring may have erased them. If they were from photo stream sign into icloud at settings>icloud> and turn on photostream.
