Allow filter file type at import!

It should be possible to exclude/include file types, especially video/image in the import wizard (or through some preference).

Lossless is really good, however the files are large and will drain your battery quicker. I settled on AAC at 192kbps as an acceptable Quality to Battery life compromise. MP3 will be more compatible if you wish to use the tracks on non Apple hardware or software.
Here's an article that compares formats: http://www.recordstorereview.com/misc/aacmp3part2.shtml

  • Acrobat Reader don't allow this file type to be opened! (Excel)

    I have several PDF files that were generated in a previous version of Adobe Acrobat. They are converted folders from outlook into PDF. These PDF's contain email communication about a certain topic. Some of the emails contain attachments, like excel workbooks. It worked fine.
    But now I have switched to newer versions of Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat, suddenly I get the message "Acrobat cannot open the file type attachment because your PDF file attachment settings do not allow this file type to be opened". See picture below.
    What is the solution here!
    I have Adobe reader 9.5.5 and Adobe Acrobat X (Version 10.0.0) installed om my computer (Windows 7). Going back to the previous versions is not the solution, because the software / hardware are supplied/set by my company policies.
    Thanks in advance.

    I've found the solution myself.
    Go to Edit --> Preferences --> Trust Manager and select "Allow opening of non-PDF file attachements with external applications". See below.

  • Advice on allowing specific file types to be written to USB flash drive

    We currently have all of the Removable Storage Access policies enabled (Computer Config > Policies > Admin Templates > System/Removable Storage Access) and would like to know if it is possible to allow specific file types to be exempted from this
    policy. Specifically we need to allow certain users to write to USB flash drive but need to limit to MS Office files only.  Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Third party products can do that. GPO cannot.

  • Filter file type for af:inputFile

    Hi,
    I am using jDeveloper 11.1.2.4.0.
    I used af:inputFile to get an image file and save the file to the server.
    Is it possible to filter file types when I browse file from af:inputFile? My users would like to see only image files when they browse in the directory.
    Thanks.

    <input type="file"> has property "accept", so you can add this attribute after page load, for example:
    <af:clientListener method="onPageLoad" type="load"/>
    <f:facet name="metaContainer">
        <af:resource type="javascript">
            function onPageLoad(evt) {
      // yourInputFileId is id of <input type="file"> element so you need to use firebug or similar tool to find this id
                document.getElementById("yourInputFileId").setAttribute("accept", "image/*");
        </af:resource>
    </f:facet>
    but note that this property is not supported in all browsers (especially in IE )

  • Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type while importing from Canon 5d Mark iii

    Anyone mind helping me trouble shoot why my Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type of my Canon 5D Mark iii ?
    I have seen this in a couple other threads but none of those suggestions worked for me. I am also a Mac user.

    Bomal9 wrote:
    I have Lightroom 4.3 and a Mark iii and cannot import raw files into Lightroom.
    The above contradicts with this:
    Bomal9 wrote:
    I am downloading images through the Canon EOS Utility manager and have to import the photos in a folder into Lightroom.
    So my reading of that is that you ARE importing Raw files from the 5D3 into Lightroom, but having to use a roundabout route to do so. Is that correct? If so, how are you trying to import when you "cannot import raw files into Lightroom", are you using a card reader or direct camera attachment? Have you tried both methods? And what happens when you do try?

  • JFileChooser wiping filename on selecting a new filter / file type

    Got a new and annoying little quirk with File Chooser under 1.4.2 (actually using 1.4.2_01 here). The new L&F for Windows XP is great, but whenever I type a filename and change the file type, whatever I've typed gets cleared and I'm forced to re-type, or reselect the filename again..? any ideas on why or ways to prevent this behaviour; previous versions of this dialog didn't do this, nor do the native dialogs.

    The culprit is line 2068 in WindowsFileChooserUI, in the listener for the combobox someones added the explicit command setFileName(null); in the 1.4_xx versions.
    I've gotten around this with a little side-shuffle, create your own FileChooserUI thusly:
    public class MyWindowsFileChooserUI extends WindowsFileChooserUI {
        public MyWindowsFileChooserUI(JFileChooser filechooser) {
            super(filechooser);
        public static ComponentUI createUI(JComponent c) {
            return new MyWindowsFileChooserUI((JFileChooser)c);
        // patch the filter change filename blanking bug 4678049
        public void setFileName(String filename) {
            if (filename != null) {
                super.setFileName(filename);
    }and install it as the default somewhere in your code like this;
    if (UIManager.getLookAndFeel().getName().equals("Windows")) {
    UIManager.put("FileChooserUI", "osbaldeston.swing.MyWindowsFileChooserUI");
    }All filechoosers created after this assignment shouldn't blindly wipe the filename anymore. Other look & feels seem to have the same problem, with the same line in the same routine; so overriding the FileChooserUI L&F of your choice with a modified version of the above (MyMetalFileChooserUI etc..) should work just fine.

  • Different File Types to Import - To Conver or not to convert?

    I have a project that I am dealing with which is requiring several different file types. Mainly .avi exported from VEGAS and footage ripped from a DVD.
    I have heard that it is best to use MPEG Streamclip to convert everything to a DVPro format (I am outputting in SD for broadcast) but wouldn't that just cause more compression?
    What is the best way to handle multiple file formats and the best output settings for broadcast when dealing with multiple formats? Thanks!

    The Avi's might work OK as they are, but the DVD footage has to go through MPEG streamclip. You might have to do this with the Avi's too, but not always... depends on the codec that was used to capture them in Vegas.
    Might try putting the AVI's in Compressor for the conversion if need be, as it might look a bit better in the end. But you've no choice with the files ripped from the DVD.

  • Cannot open the file attachment because your PDF file attachment settings do not allow this file type to be opened.

    I think this issue may have been posted elsewhere, but I have tried all solutions offered with no success.  I am attempting to open a Link within a secure PDF file when I receive the error above. I have made registry changes and verified the trust manager settings. Is there anything else I can do?

    You should be able to check by opening the Attachments panel on the left (paperclip icon) and looking at the file extension.

  • Filter Open Dialog File Types

    I want to filter file types in the open dialog. By reading the Photoshop CS3 scripting reference, I understand it is different if you want it to work on a Mac. So my question is how do you filter file types on a Mac computer. I know how to do it for a Windows platform (Example: *.psd)
    This is what the JavaScript Tools Guide PDF says:
    ● In Windows, a filter expression, such as "*.jsx"
    ● In Mac OS, a filter function that takes a File instance and returns true if the
    file should be included in the display, false if it should not.

    Or you could do something like this:
    function filter(file) {
    return file.creator = 'XXXX' && file.type == 'XXXX';
    where XXXX are whatever they should be on a Mac. You could write a conversion
    function that takes a Win-formatted pattern (*.psd) and returns a function that
    works for the Mac. I tried but never did get it working for anything other than
    simple patterns; it just wasn't that necessary for my work.

  • CS4 Set default file type when placing file

    The File->Place dialog box has a default file type of 'Importable files.'  Is it possible to set the default to All files (or anything else)?  Making the change manually does not seem to stick.  I have the same general question regarding File->Open.  A search of the forums returned one hit (unanswered) in the Dreamweaver forum.
    Thank you.
    Dick Conrad

    Peter:
    Good question.  One of our editors made this request, and I believe that he works with files that lack extensions.  But controlling the default would also let us go in the other direction: quickly see only .rtf or .txt files, for example.
    Any trick would be impractical if it lived in InDesign Defaults.  All ID users get the same copy, and no two editors would want the same filter.
    Thanks for your response.

  • Adding images to rows in a table depending on file type

    Hello,
    Within Visual Composer we have a table which lists documents and contains information about the document type
    i.e. description = 'This is a Word Document', file type = 'application/msword'
    then I have uploaded the images (icons) for the different file types, created a 'Document Type' column (of type image) in the table and assigned the correct boolean statements to determine which icons are shown
    e.g. BOOL(IF(@MIMETYPE == 'application/msword', true, false))
    This is the exact steps explained in the how to: How To… Integrate BI Document Store and SAP Analytics Applications
    But just does not work? It will not display the icons even though the file type (MIMETYPE) is displayed and is correct.
    Any help much appreciated!

    Seem to have fixed the problem.
    By adding a filter before the table view it seems to allow a slight delay which allows the file types to load and the IF statements run correctly and display the correct images for the various file types.
    Still seems that there is a slight Visual Composer Issue there? (but now with a work-around)

  • File type associations limit in WP8.1

    Hi everyone!
    I'm building a music app for WP8.1 called Teh Jukebox. I am aiming to support many music file formats.
    I am however running into a huge problem due to the file type limit at certification time, only allowing 20 file types to be registered with an app.
     The reason it is a problem is because I want to make a music app that plays many music file formats, from lossy types like mp3 to lossless types like flac, along with chiptune formats such as nes, spc and vgz. Secondly I want the app to be able to
    display album art, and the album art may be in jpg format or png or gif.
     After I added support for chiptune formats I went over the limit and the certification tool told me that the app failed certification as it went over the limit.
     Here is a breakdown of the current file type support:
     lossy:
     mp3
     ogg
     m4a
     aac
     wma
     lossless:
     wav
     flac
     album art:
     png
     gif
     jpg
     jpeg
     Playlist:
     m3u
     m3u8
     chiptune:
     kss
     spc
     vgm
     vgz
     gbs
     nsf
     nsfe
     sap
     ay
     hes
     As you can see I'm over the limit at 23.
    If I don't put each file type inside my Package.appxmanifest file as a File Type Association declaration when I call StorageFolder.GetFilesAsync() I don't get the files in the list, even though they are in that folder.
    The code is all done and the formats all work but because of this limit my app can't currently be certified!
    So my question is can the limit be extended for certain apps (up to 30 would be fine!) or is there some way to add more file types that I don't know?
    Thanks all for your help
    -Alister.

    Hello Alister,
    I am not aware of any way to extend the 20 file extension limit. However, the other thing to keep in mind is
    certain file extensions are reserved by the OS and any declarations you place in the manifest will be ignored. MP3, MP4, WAV, WMV are all reserved by the OS, for
    example. The above link contains the full list.
    There are two types of reserved file types: file types reserved for Windows Phone built-in apps and file types reserved for the operating system. When a file type reserved for a built-in app is launched, only the built-in app will launch. Any attempt
    to register your app with that file type is ignored. Similarly, any attempt to register your app with a file type reserved for the operating system also will be ignored.

  • Allowing .exe file attachments to open in PDFs - creating reg key

    Hi,
    I'm creating some user support material and have attached .exe files to PDFs. As this is a black-listed file type the files will not run from the PDF. I've checked the registry keys and the FeatureLockDown key has an empty default key when I expected to see HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\[version number]\FeatureLockdown\cDefaultLaunchAttachmentPerms
    and be able to allow the file type. Can anyone help? Most users have Acrobat Reader 8. Can I add a key for a file type and give it a value to allow it to run?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jane

    You have to change the behavior under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\[version number]\FeatureLockdown\cDefaultLaunchAttachmentPerms -change .exe 3 to .exe 1(or 2).  But I agree with the previous post it would not be a good idea to do globally.  If you really need it to open the exe you could write a script that would change the registry key then open the pdf. when the pdf is closed it changes the registry key back to .exe 3

  • Question about filtering a file type on check in?

    I am reading on how to filter file types on check in and I was wondering.  Is it possible to check a file type and pop up a error page in iDoc, or would I have to go the custom component route (and would that need to be java or iDoc)?

    Thanks for the input, but seeing how the setting where I'm going to employ this component for UCM is secure I can't use code I can't read for myself (No offence to the author of that blog or to you).  But yeah I kinda figured making a filter based component would be the best route, but most examples I've found used the intradoc library.  Problem is I can't seem to find the intradoc library to try to write a basic example to see what I'm doing, everything I get is for RIDC (even found a small example on writing a filter for RIDC).  Is this what UCM is using now in 11g?
    Also one thing I felt missing when looking at example code, I get the basic idea of the code itself.  But to employ the componant to work on the check in request would I just include that component in that idoc function for checkin?
