Allow one URL in Access Restriction?

I'd like to allow internet access for lunch hour only for a group of computers. I've assigned the IP's and set up two access restrictions to DENY for morning and afternoon. Is there a way to allow those computers to have access to just one URL (www.gmail.com) all day long?
Is there a link where these access restrictions have been explained a little more fully than what's available in the WRT610N help screen?
Thank you.

I am afraid, you cannot allow those computers to have access to just one URL (www.gmail.com) all day long if you have denied them for Internet Access for Morning and Afternoon...

  • Setup more than one policy in one day using Access Restriction

Anyone can tell me how to set up two policys in one day using Access Restriction ?
    For example:
For Weekdays, before 6pm, no restriction to use internet. after 6pm, internet ok, but certain web site or ports need to be blocked.
I can set up policy for after 6pm but then before 6pm, the router consider no-internet access period.
    Any advise ?

what you just need to do is to set the policy to allow from 6PM upto the time you wanted your router to give internet access... and just set the status to enable.. type in the LAN mac adress of your router in the edit PC list, then save the settings

  • Weblogic url direct access restriction

    Hi,
I have an OHS configured as a proxy for weblogic server. Here my main objective is that all the requests should pass via webserver only.
I have a requirement like whenever weblogic app url , suppose http://weblogic:7001/app1 is accessed directly, it should redirect to http://webserver:port:7777/app1 and again the request should be forwaded to http://weblogic:port:7001/app1.
In brief blocking direct access to weblogic and making the user access the app1 via webserver. How can I achieve this?
    Regards
    DPK

    Hi,
But I need to achieve that using Weblogic only. Client wants to access weblogic directly and one more thing is only one particular application with root context as /app1 must be accessed via webserver and rest all the applications directly through application server. That is the reason why we are not blocking the port for direct access at network end.

  • E1000 Access Restrictions Issue

I attempted to create a rule to limit access only to specific URLs during a specific time of day.  However, it seems to have blocked all of the internet for the user at that MAC address, outside of the times I had chosen.  I double-checked to make sure that the radio button next to 'Allow' was selected in the section that reads:  "Internet access during selected days and hours."  I don't know what I'm doing wrong.   How is the time of day determined by the router?  Is there a clock which needs to be set to my time zone somewhere?  If so, I've yet to find it.  Also, why is it blocking all access to the internet?  It should only be blocking 3 URLs.

The Access Restrictions feature of a Linksys router allows you to limit Internet access on your network.  You can deny certain computers’ Internet access or block certain applications and services.  This article will provide instructions on how to set up Access Restrictions by blocking certain days or hours.
Here is the link for the same: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=20b29e54474a4a17aff594cb659747ea_4041.xml&pid=80&r...
The time zone on your router should be set correctly according to the time zone in your current location.  This is to ensure that the Parental controls feature will block Internet access on the exact time you specified.  To configure the time zone on your router, access your router’s web-based setup page, then go to Basic Setup sub tab under the Setup tab.  Click the Time Zone drop-down menu and select the appropriate time zone.  Once done, click Save Settings.

  • How to use one URL for several Oracle AS?

    Hi folks,
how do I use one URL to access several application servers (i.e. for different applications).
    Example:
    We have one URL:
    www.test.com
In our DMZ, wie have three application servers and one web cache:
    test1.intranet.com:7777
    test2.intranet.com:7777
    test3.intranet.com:7777
    webcache.intranet.com:8000
One application server is no problem. In Web Cache, i just map site www.test.com:443 to AS test1.intranet.com:7777.
But what is the correct setting, to access all three Oracle AS over one URL? I tried URL PATH Prefix. Then i am able to access all three Oracle AS, but the application server does not know the Path.
    Example for mapping:
    www.test.com:443/server2 -> test2.intranet.com:7777
When I access www.test.com:443/server2, I get redirected to the correct AS (test2.intranet.com:7777), but the Oracle AS does not know the path /server2.
How do I have to configure the Oracle AS?
Thanks in advance and best regards.

I setted up a proxy and at first glance,
it works fine. The problem are internal links. Some links redirect to the
machine name, which is of course not accessible from outside our dmz.
    My httpd.conf entries:
    ProxyPass /test1infra/ http://test1.intranet.com:7777/
    ProxyPassReverse /test1infra/ http://test1.intranet.com:7777/
    ProxyPass /test1mid/ http://test1.intranet.com:7778/
    ProxyPassReverse /test1mid/ http://test1.intranet.com:7778/
When I now access (for example) www.test.com/test1infra/pls/orasso I get
redirected to www.test.com/pls/orasso, which is another Oracle AS!
How can I prevent my OracleAS doing this? It has to "know" that all its internal urls need a url path prefix.

  • Only one user at a time allowed to open MS Access database on a Mac share

I have an issue trying to open a Microsoft Access database from our Mac OS X Server running on XServe.
The MS Access file is stored on a Share Point on the XServe. Windows XP clients open the database. The problem is that it will only allow one user at a time to open the file. The has previously been operating fine when it was stored on a Windows server.
The Group's permissions for this Share Point allow Read & Write.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I think you're being misled a bit by the interface: the checkbox labelled "Strict locking" doesn't just allow strict locking, it requires it (and thus disallows byte-range locking). That is, with strict locking enabled, any client that tries to lock any part of the file actually locks the entire file. Access normally depends on byte-range locking to allow different clients to share the database (as long as they aren't trying to modify the same part of it at the same time), but with strict locking the first client locks all others out.

You have to explicitly share directories on external/secondary volumes.
Use the Server admin app to configure file sharing, and select which directory/directories on the second drive you want to share, then they'll be available to clients.

  • Desire firefox kiosk mode where full screen allows an exit (other than ALT + F4) only one URL required for company timesheet entry. No optons. No navigation.

using win 7 x86 SP1, firefox 18 with kiosk add-in r_kiosk-0.9.0-fx.xpi . Full screen kiosk mode uses one URL to company time entry sheet. Firefox is not company standard and needs to be provided for this purpose only. We're adept at virtualized delivery via AppV and have a solution BUT.... Really like the lack of toolbars providing no option to the user. No right click, no navigation. Perfect except there's no close or exit option except keyboard stroke such as ALT+F4. I'm not talented enough to modify the XPI file to provide a full screen kiosk BUT with a close option simple enough for 3500 end users. Advice appreciated.

Thank You David. The add-on you are suggesting is exactly the kiosk add-on specified in the question. That is the one that does not have a close button. Thank You again for researching this.

  • WRT160Nv3 problem with blocking traffic using Access Restrictions

    Hi.
I want something quite simple. Block Youtube. I go into "Access Restrictions", choose a name for policy 1, enable it, choose the pc from the pc list, but then...
if a click Deny, all other options will be disabled (greyed out, can't click nor write on them).
Therefore, I can't put the urls I want (youtube).
I tried writing the url with "allow" and then change it to "deny" but it will block ALL traffic.
    No good.
So, how do I make a new policy just to block this one URL?
Is it normal that when I click and choose "Deny" everything gets disabled afterwards?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Leo

for internet access policy DENY means to restrict internet access during specified days and hours. this will block ALL internet traffic for the said schedule. website blocking by URL, blocking by means of keyword and blocking applications would then be NOT AVAILABLE as the computers would not have internet access to begin with if you have such a policy disabled.
for your case, you may want to try to set restriction to ALLOW internet access then specify youtube.com under Website Blocking by URL. this would allow computers to have access to the internet all the time (if you have the schedule set to EVERYDAY) or during specific days and hours but NOT have access to youtube.

For example, I set up one of PCs was allowed to access internet between 7:00am~11:55am. This PC could access to internet after 11:55am, even I set another rule for this PC with duration 12:00pm~18:00pm.

The Access Restrictions feature allows you to limit Internet access on your network.  You can deny access to certain computers, block certain applications and services, and block certain websites by the use of keywords or by the URL at a given time.  This feature allows you to customize up to 10 different Internet Access Policies for particular computers, which are identified by their IP or MAC addresses.
Here is the link Implementing Access Restrictions for computers: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=20b29e54474a4a17aff594cb659747ea_4041.xml&pid=80&r...

  • WRT54GS 1.1 Access restrictions

I have a WRT54GS 1.1, firmware 4.71.1, and cannot block sites. I can create DENY rules to selectively block my kids, but must set up 2 rules for each MAC address, one to block 1200-0600 and another to block 9PM-1155PM, leaving 6AM-9PM open for the internet. Problem is, by having to use DENY rules, I cant block sites by URL or keyword - that only works on ALLOW rules. If I make a generic ALLOW rule, the URL blocking works, but none of the DENY rules then work, allowing internet access 24/7. I tried a generic ALLOW, 24hrs, and named all MAC addresses. This was followed by specific DENY's, by MAC, to filter. The ALLOW rule was the only rule being used - all others stop. Help?

Policies are evaluated from the top down, i.e. it starts with the first and continues from there. For each policy it is checked whether the time of day matches and if the IP address/MAC address is in the list of pcs. If a policy matches it is evaluated, i.e. either it denys the traffic for deny policies or it allows the traffic for allow policies. If you have configured URL/keyword blocking those are excepted in allow policies.
The important thing: with the first matching policy the processing ends! No other policies are evaluated. If you have a allow all policy with 24/7 time and some computers listed this will be the only policy which will be evaluated for those computers.
Thus to use URL blocking from 0600-2100 and to block all internet the rest of time you should be able to use two policies:
    1. allow traffic 0600-2100 for listed PCs blocking certain URLs
    2. deny all traffic at any time for listed PCs.
This allows full internet to all non-listed PCs. It blocks all traffic on listed PCs outside the 0600-2100 time. It allows internet traffic from 0600-2100 except for URLs listed.
This should work. Unfortunately, the access restrictions implementation varies between routers and has a long history of flaws. Thus no guarantee that it will work this way. Still, the basic rule remains the only the highest matching policy gets evaluated and no other.

  • WRT54GX v2 : Access restrictions rules fails

    Hi,
I have updated the router (WRT54GX v2) with the last firmware "Firmware Version: 2.00.20".
I have setup some website URL to block in the access restrictions screen.
I tried several samples like :
    http://www.xxxx.com, http://*.xxxxx.com, www.xxxxx.com
Only one URL has been blocked one time. I tried again for 2nd time to access to the same website and then all url were allowed.
Currently all URLs blocked can be accessed.
Is there some people which have the same problem ?
    Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion.  I've tried it but no success. I have learned something interesting though:
With this hardware/firmware Wrtg54c v2.0 / Firmware 1.00.7 you cannot have 2 enabled ALLOW rules that apply to the same MAC address. If you try then ALL internet access for that device is blocked.
I guess that if you allow one time slot it aUtomatically denies everything else, and the deny overrides any second Allow you create. Like I say - this is a guess because in there is no documentation.
It is possible to have an ADD and a DENY rule for one device.  ie you can ALLOW internet access  6am to 11pm  and have a second rule to DENY access between 5 - 6 pm.  This seem to work for my limited testing.
I did want to test one rule applying to IP address range and another to a MAC address - and then I discovered that when you use the 'Assign Static IP' function - that also does not work. ie - give it a MAC address and tell the DHCP function to always assign it a specific IP has no effect.  Whether the IP is in the normal DHCP range or outside of it seems to make no difference.
Verily I say unto you "This firmware is a buggy".
(Mod note: Edited for guideline compliance.)

  • Access Restrictions still not working with latest firmware

    Linksys WRT54GS V5 with firmware v1.52.2
I cannot believe what a frustrating experience this is. All I want to do is block facebook.com from my two high schoolers until they’ve done their homework.
Starting out, it simply did NOT work, and I discovered from this forum that the initial firmware did not work for this feature. So here is what I did:
    - Downloaded v1.52.2 firmware, which is indicated as being the latest for this router
    - Upgraded the router, per the instructions with this firmware.
    - Pressed (and held)the reset button for the indicated 30 seconds
At this point, my router switched back to the default access point name and access password. Fortunately, I had backed up my configuration, so I then:
    - Loaded my previous configuration that included my Wireless security settings, different AP name, etc...
    - Powered down, then back up router, cable modem.
Router now works wireless as before, but Access Restrictions still does not restrict. Router does list the correct firmware on the admin screens.
Here is how I sent up my one (and only policy)
    Internet Access Policy: 1(facebook)
    Status: Enable
    Enter policy name: facebook
    PCs: Allow checked
    Days: Everyday checked
    Times: 24 hours checked
    Blocked Services: NONE
    Wewbsite Blocking by URL Addresses:
    3 entered, they are:
    http://www.facebook.com
    http://static.ak.facebook.com
    http://apps.facebook.com
Website blocking by keyword: All 6 boxes empty
This was easier to do on my old netgear router, and it also actually WORKED. ARGHHHHHH

Thanks, but that did not work either. It seems to me that, entering mac addresses ended up totally taking away all internet access for the computers on the MAC list. This is really pathetic that a concept that on the surface seems so simple, as in 'deny access to hostname xxx.com' can be so difficult to implement. If there wasn't the suggestion that this were a feature of the router, I wouldn't care. But it *is* supposedly a feature, and the feature simply does not work.
It seem to me that LinkSys has too many mutually exclusive options on a single page. It would be easier to grok if the hostname filter had it's own page, then you wouldn't be wondering what the 'deny/allow' check box did or did not do in conjunction with your selections.
Does the feature work or not? As I mentioned, this was childishly easy to accomplish on my Netgear router. If it didn't suck so bad in other areas of performance, I'd simply go back to it.
