Alternate Chart of Accounts- Require Alternate Account Number

For a few of our entities, they require an alternate chart of accounts.  Is there a way to put a requirement on these where if an alternate account number isnt entered, a hard error will come up and not allow the information to be saved unless an alternate account number is entered?  Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

You mean the alternative account number SKB1-ALTKT of the G/L account maintenance FS00? This can be set to mandatory for each relevant chart of accounts and account group combination in the FI G/L customizing settings, please search for further information.

  • Obyc for country chart of account

    Hi,
what is setting required for obyc for country chart of account. I have already assigned country chart of account number in operative chart of account- Comapny code section.

    Dear Nitin,
You can not assign an 'Alternative Account' of Country Chart of Accounts in OBYC, neither no additional customization settings can be defined in SAP to achieve your requirement.
Country Chart of Accounts is just for the purpose of drawing a Balance Sheet with reference to Alternative Accounts instead of GL Account from Operating Chart of Accounts.
As you said, only assignment of Alternative Account in GL Master record is possible, means to say that you are just linking GL and Alt A/c for the above purpose of Balance sheet.
So whatever postings (say for instance, inventory postings to Stock GL Account) you made via OBYC will not really flow into this Alternative Account and thus no point in talking about displaying this Alt a/c balances.

  • Alternate Chart of accounts

    Hi SAP Gurus,
In  a productions environment, we have a requirement as follows:
For the company code in Spain as per the new legal requirement, we need to change the alternate chart of accounts.
The client has many company codes and use Group chart of accounts also.
Is there any specific SAP patch available for this ?

    Hi Suresh,
you mean the country chart of accounts assigned to the company code in field T001-KTOP2 (not to mix up with the operational CoA T001-KTOPL).
If you are using a country CoA, field SKB1-ALKT alternative account number in the GL account master record is checked against that CoA. If you want to change it, you may have a current country CoA with plenty of GL accounts, assigned to your operational accounts.
To change the country CoA is an easy task in transaction OBY6. (first you have to create the new CoA, specify at least 1 account group and a retained earnings account for the start).
Then you have to create new accounts in your new CoA (FSP0 only, no FS00 or FSS0).
Finally, and this is the main point, you have to change the current assignments. The issue is that if your have a country CoA assigned to the company code, a change of the alternative account is only possible if the account has no balance. To remove the current balance to another GL and reverse this afterwards is not so easy for some type of accounts (post automatically only, reconciliation accounts, etc.) So you have 2 options for this change:
    1. Write a custom ABAP which will update your SKB1 records without checking the balance.
    2. Create the country CoA but do NOT assign it to your company code yet. (Remove any existing assignment). Now you can do a mass change using transaction MASS or manually account by account, regardless of the balance. Make sure you enter alternative accounts only that are created in the country CoA.
    3. Finally, assign the country CoA to the company code.
After this, the line items posted before the change are not in sync with the master record's alternative accounts (BSEG-LOKKT <> SKB1-ALTKT), but as most standard reports are reading the CURRENT alternative accounts from the master records anyway, that should not be a problem.
    Hope that helps, points welcome

  • Report using Alternate/Country Chart of Accounts

How can I write a report (in report painter/report writer) using accounts from an alternate/country chart of accounts?    I cannot see "Chart of Accounts" as a selection characteristics in the report libray.
    thank you,
    Lanny

    Hi,
when working with Report Painter / Report Writer, the first question is which is the summary table of the library you want to create your report in?
If this is an FI-SL summary table (something beginning usually with ZZ ending with T), then  most probably you only have a chance if that field (i.e, the alternative account number) is one of the characteristics in your ZZ*T summary table. If it is not, you have to write a custom ABAP report based on the summary table, and read the alternative account from the master record. The same is the case if your library is based on table GLT0 (GL balances table in the "classic" GL - NOT newGL).
    Hope that helps, points welcome

  • Best Practice for legally required Chart of Account

    Dear all,
our client has a global defined chart of account. Now they are going to implement the SAP template in France, Belgium and Russia. These countries have legally required chart of accounts. What is best practice to fullfill these requirements in SAP.
    1) Do I use the alternative account number?
    2) Isn't this field on the central level of the account master data record? How do I manage to realize the different number for Russia and for France at the same time?
Thank you very much for your help.
    Best regards Timo

    Hi,
the best way proofed by real life is to define new chart of accounts for the country specific accounts. Then to assign this chart of accounts as country chart of accounts in company code parameters.
Then you can use field alternative account number in company code segment of G/L accounts.
Just keep in mind that the assigment should be 1:1, i.e. one operative (global) account is assigned to one local account and one local account should be assigned to one operative account.
You can't change the alternative account number if there is balance on that account. You can just repost the balance to another account, then change alternative acccount number and then post the balance back. For some accounts its difficult to do such excercise so I use short ABAP which changes directly the field in table SKB1.
You can also define financial statement strucutre based on local chart of accounts - which is usually easier for maintennace, because you can use intervals. Just do not forget check "Alternantive accounts" in RFBILA00.

  • Group Chart Of Accounts and Group Account Number

    Hi SAP Gurus,
For the sake of consolidated reporting, we are planning to create group chart of accounts and assign a Group account number to the GL account master. The structure is going to be like this:
Operating Expenses (Group Account : 461000).
Air Conditioning Exp   (GL account 461000001)
    Elevators                   (GL account 461000002)
Coffee and snacks      (GL account 461000003)
This is being done to achieve a detail level reporting at the company code level and a consolidated reporting at a group level where the reporting would be based on group account or FSIs. We would define a financial statement version based on FSIs.
My question is : do we need to activate the consolidation (EC-CS) module to push the data to the FSIs or the data would flow automatically to the group account if we assign this to the GL master. If we go to fetch the data from the ECMCT table, do we need to have a consolidation unit?
    Any inputs are highly appreciated.
    thanks
    sri

    Hi,
There are certain preliminary steps to be carried out in ECCS. You can find them under SPRO->Enterprise Controlling->Consolidation->Integration: Preparation for Consolidation.
You need to choose the type of consolidation, create Company, link it to Cons Unit in ECCS, Creating/Copying FS Items (each account in Group COA will have an FS Item; 1:1),  etc.,
After the setup, you actually need to carry out Rollup or Flexi Upload for importing FI data into ECCS FS Items. This is done to Data Monitor - CXCD.
In ECMCT, typical selections would be Dimension, Cons Unit, Cons COA, FS Item.
I suppose these preliminary steps are requried for the data to flow to FS Items.
    Hope this clarifies.
    Rgds.

  • Group account number / Group Chart of Accounts

    Hi all,
We have created a new group COA and have assigned it to the company COA.
(In a production environment)  We have assigned the group COA number under the Group Account Number of the company COA.
There is already transaction data's posted to these GL accounts for the entire year.
    1. How to update these transaction data's with the Group Account Number?
    2. Is there any program available to make this updating?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
Our client is planning to create a group account number and populate the group account number in the GL master.  They already have transactions posted to the group account number.
But the question is how to populate the group account number on the historical trasnactions. Did you find a solution for this problem?
Appreciate if you can provide the solution

  • G/l Creation-asking for group account number

    Hello Gurus,
I am creating G/l through Tcode FS00.But system pop the error .saying provide group account no I have not created any group account no please tell me how to create the group account number.
    Many Many Thanks

    Hi
You create a group chart of accounts (OB13) and assign it to your operating chart of accounts. you can establish link between every GL account in your operating COA to GL accounts in group COA via gl master (FS01/02/03) via group chart of account field. If you choose to use ECCS (Enterprise Controlling-Consolidation) , then for each GL account in COA you need to create FS Items in ECCS module (1:1) and build the consolidated COA. Otherwise group COA can act as consolidated COA.
You need Country COA if you need to meet reporting requirements of specific country. An MNC with operations in various countries can have a common COA (operating COA) to ensure standardisation of accounting, but use of operation COA doesnt help in meeting specific accounting countries of country of operation. this arises need for country COA and you can establish a link to each GL account in country COA to GL accounts in operating COA via gl master (FS01/02/03) via alternate chart of account field.
So group COA sits on top to provide consolidated reporting (in much summarised form, cause 1 or more GL accounts in operating COA can be linked to 1 GL account in group COA) and then you have operating COA (to ensure standardised accounting across countries and facilitate cross company code controlling) and then alternate COA for meeting local requirements.
Please go through the below mentioned related links
    Gl number in FS00
    GL Master DATA- FS00
Hope this will help you to resolve your problem

  • Urgent : Doubt in Chart of accounts & Report generating

    Hi Gurus,
Hope all are doing well !!
I have a doubt in generating Balance sheet & Financial statement report for country specific COA.
    The Scenario is like this:
We have 3 Company codes and all company codes are assigned with single operating chart of acconts.
In one company code there is an addtional requirement of maintaining country specific COA.
All three company codes are maintaining same Group (consolidated) chart of accounts.
    Now my question is :
How to generate FS report for Country specific COA for the Company code along with the operating COA? And also would be helpful if you can explain me how it can also be for Group chart of account.
As per my understanding once you assign an operating COA to a co code and account determination is done, the table SKB1 (GL master co code segment)will get linked to the respective co code and you may not be able to creat data in co code segment of GL master record for another COA (Viz.Country specific COA). There is no such customisation has given to adopt this. Probably there should be some report or program need to be executed to copy the relevant table and country templates.
It would be helpful if you can provide some documentation on this please forward it to me.
Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions.
    Best regards,
    Sudheer

In IMG, under 'Global parameters for company code', you need to mention the country chart of Accounts in one of the fields.
In the GL master, you need to fill in the Alternate Account number field with the Account from the country COA.
As for reporting,COA is one of the selection criteria for any standard report anyway.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Using Country Specific Chart of Account in addition to Operational COA

    Dear Team
We are implementing 16 company codes with Group COA A002 and
Operational COA A001 across all companies. Out of 16 Company codes 4
company codes already went live and running successfully. We are also
using one controlling area and operating concern for all company codes.
Out of 16 company codes there are 2 company codes from Turkey and
requires Turkey Country specific COA to be used mandatorily. But we
would like use same COA A001 for Turkey company codes in order to use
one Controlling Area across group which is not fulfilling the legal
requirement of the Turkey. We would like to use Country specific COA in
addition to the Operational COA and the same will be assigned to the
    Company code in OB62.
In this case we need to create GL Accounts under Turkey COA and assign
the same in the Operational COA as alternate Account no.
In this case can we meet all the Turkey country specific legal
requirements as given below through Alternate GL Accounts No?Turkey Legal Requirements:
    1.Country Specific GL account numbering
    2.Reflection accounting
        - Monthly Closing for Expenses Accounts
        - Yearly closing for Expenses and Balance Sheet accounts
    3.Inflation Accounting- Presently not using
    4.Country Specific Reporting
    5.Bank accounting- Bills if Exchange
6.Print out of Transactions in Turkish language
    7.Cost of Sales statement
    8.Document Journal
    9.Taxes on Sales & Purchases
    Please help in this regard.
    Thanks in advance
    Ravi Nalluri

    Hi,
    1. Create country COA in OB13
    2. Assign it to your company code in OB62
    3. Create GL accounts in your country COA
    4. Assign country GL account to your operating COA gl account(FS00 > Control data > Alternative account no.)
    5. System doesn't allow you to assign country COA gl if already has the balance
So, change message settings accordingly in OBA5
    6. You can see financials from your country COA also as F.01 & F.08(Select Alternative Account Number)
