Alternate content for Flash area

Hi.  Could someone give me the simplist, yet working method to display alternate content if Flash isn't installed?
What I have is a website with a Flash header that has the navigation buttons as part of the Flash animation.
What I TRIED to do is have it so that if Flash isn't installed, it displays an image, plus HTML nav buttons (to replace the Flash nav buttons in the SWF that is not there now).
I did this with a <noembed> tag... but testing it on an IPhone (...the bane of my existance...), it didn't work, and had nothing in the 'window' where the swf would normally be.  The <noembed> doesn't appear to work... unless I did it wrong, which is entirely possible, as it's already baffling having THREE methods of embedding (<object>, <embed> and javascript) present.
I COULD just put HTML buttons on the main body (but I quite like the animated Flash nav buttons I have in the SWF, and that would mean two sets of nav buttons, one under the other, which looks dumb..... So, I'd have to have a sytem where it's one or the other.... HTML buttons or Flash buttons in the swf....  which is what I tried, but it didn't work.
Looking up the subject online, I found lots of very intricate coding that just made my head spin.  I would rather not use coding that I didn't at least partically understand... in case something is not working, etc.
Could someone outline the easiest and best method to do this:
If the SWF doesn't show (Flash not installed/supported), it shows the image and HTML buttons (all within the window that the swf would normally be in).
Please give me the complete, idiot-proof explanation, as vague ones will probably go over my head, as my scripting knowledge is weak, at best... (assuming this involves scripting).
Would the <noembed> not work, or might it be that it is placed in the wrong spot or something?
Here's the code I have (...as far as the content of the table cell, which is normally the swf, but attempts to load the image 'noflashheader.jpg' and the html buttons if needed):
<td width=920 height=120>
<script language="javascript">
     if (AC_FL_RunContent == 0) {
          alert("This page requires AC_RunActiveContent.js.");
     } else {

  • Best setting for 3D content for Flash

Hello all. I am a Premiere noob that works in Cinema 4D.  I am exporting C4D  animations as QuickTime "animation" files. (.mov)  These videos are highly  detailed pixel-precise renders. I want to bring them into Premier with this  level of pixel precision, yet I cant seem to find the correct setting to ensure  they import and play back "ice cold." They tend to look slightly blurry in the  preview. The renders are for a specific flash size and are set to 874x480.
Can someone help me with the correct setting for the movie? Please... The  content is so beautiful, I don't want to sacrifice any quality. I have the  latest version of PP. Thank you for any help you can give.

Thanks for the help sir.  This is actually for a huge project. I'll post the  link here in a week or so.  Be sure to check it out.  We're all good now.  Ice  cold.  - No blurriness.  Its too bad I was able to do this years ago without any  issue.  Video codec's and technology sure have changed drastically in the past  few years.  There's a real learning curve for those who are not daily users.
    -B
A side note I learned in this process: Cinema 4D users should not export their Quciktime (.mov) files from Premiere Pro as Uncompressed AVI.  It just screws up the pixel precision. Not sure why.  Just use the old school .avi and the advice above. The renders will be perfect.

  • Alternate jpg for a Flash Banner

    Good day everyone.
I have a flash banner. I also created an alternate jpg image
in case the user don't have flash plugin installed.
Is there a code I can insert on the html or object/embed
tags, or is it somewhere in the publish settings?
    Thans in advance.

If you use SWFObject, it's real easy to display alternate
    content when Flash
    is unavailable.

  • Compressing for flash video setting

Anyone out there building content for flash video? I have a client who is shooting all their footage on a sony HD cam. All footage comes to me as 1080i60. They have requested all content be converted or embedded into flash at a 400X300 canvas size.
I have tried some differant setting but most comes up somewhat pixilated. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Maybe this is helpful: Flash 8 Pro comes with a Flash 8 Video Encoder. It automatically converts Quicktime files into a .flv flash video file WITH a .swf AND a playback skin.
The cool thing about this is how Flash then plays this back as a "progressive download," therefore less waiting time for it to start playback and smoother playback and very nice quality.
I have a sample of this at size 540x400, larger than I have made in the past with other programs, just to see how it would look. I'm still playing with the dimensions. Thinking of making it smaller, actually; but the quality really holds up, I thought. http://web.mac.com/bfkproductions/HomeOne/PowWowSample.html

    Hi Jean,
    Thank you for your reply
I have removed some the archivelogs manually to freeup the space

Flashback will continue to use available space, but the

  • Content for itunes in Canada

My obvious question is are you waiting approval from the CRTC to use all the features the US Store has? If so when, looks like iphone functionality will also be hampered by borders. When you purchse an ipod, you take off the sticker displaying "Don't steal music", yet you hamper the way people can get content for their ipod, and consequently will go to other sites to download what they wanted from the "advertised" product. Your hands might be tied, but trying to get a feel when if ever will this issue come to a head. You should structure your advertising campaigns to say US Only. Limited functionality in other Countries. I know other networks cannot also let other countries view tv shows, why. Is it gov policy, or Canadian Regulations?
    Signed Frustrated

First of all, we're all just your fellow users here. Apple employees only rarely participate.
As to the content in the Canadian iTunes Store, as has been said here many, many times already, Apple is limited by what the holders of the rights to the content for Canada are willing to let Apple sell. Many Canadian record companies have been notoriously reluctant to license to non-Canadian companies. And the US TV and movie companies haven't allowed Apple to sell shows and movies anywhere outside the US yet. For advertising, if you look at the Canadian ads and web pages, not the US ones, it's pretty clear.
As to the iPhone, that's apparently going to be sold through Rogers, according to this news report.

  • Should I download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash to use with Lion?  My need for Flash is very basic: Google Maps, YouTube, and content on certain websites.  Thanks for any help you are able to provide.

Should I download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash to use with Lion?  My need for Flash is very basic: Google Maps, YouTube, and content on certain websites.  Thanks for any help you are able to provide.

Thanks for the speedy reply.  I have read so many comments about Flash being incompatible with Lion I was wondering whether to download it or not.  So many sites on the Web still require flash, however, you almost don't have a choice but to download it even if it is incompatible.  I gather a better version of Flash will be available for Lion soon.  Again, thanks for the help.  I will download the latest version of Flash.

  • Flash Detection and Alternate Content, HTML Include?

So I have a header.shtml file that I'm already including in
all of the pages. In the header.shtml, I have the script that
substitutes content in if the viewer does not have the right Flash
    plugin. (See attached code)
If I take the desired include, which is altnav.shtml, and
insert simple text, I can get it to ouput in the final page where I
want it. But when I insert the actual HTML for altnav.shtml, the
entire header.shtml is not shown. I've heard a few things, such as
turning altnav.shtml into a one-line file with no linebreaks, and
that you have to backslash before special characters when declaring
    the alternate content, etc.
What steps should I follow and how can I get this include to
    work?
I will reply to my own message later with the code for
    altnav.shtml.
    Thank you.

Here is the HTML for the final include
I have tested the idea of eliminating all line breaks, but I
have no idea what might need to be commented out. Any help is most
    appreciated.

  • Available HTTP delivery options for Flash Access encrypted content

    Dear colleagues,
Could you please clarify available HTTP delivery options for Flash Access encrypted content.
Standard HTTP DS scheme with Apache web server getting chunks of video from segmented with f4fpackager file.
HTTP Progressive Download of encrypted with Flash Access file (non segmented).
Is it possible to use byte range delivery in this case in order to start playback from custom position (seek)?
Are there any pitfalls in this case? Is it required to make encryption blocks aligned with keyframe intervals or something like that?

Thanks for your response, seems though that only the encrypted videos appear to have a problem because when I tried some un-encrypted videos (again from adobe http://drmtest.adobe.com/content/unencrypted/Indesign.f4v ) it played fine.
Maybe is has something to do with the decryption process and the hardware of the mobile phone after all.
    Again thanks for your response.

  • Are there any performance benchmark tools for Flash?

I am looking to benchmark Flash on various computers that I use.  I was surprised that the performance of Adobe Flash on my Intel i5 computer running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS and IE 10 was MUCH WORSE than running on a Windows 7 Pro 32-bit on an Intel i3 computer running the same browser.
I have tried running both 32-bit IE and 64-bit IE and get the same general bad performance on the 64-bit Windows OS. I would like to find a tool to benchmark these various computers so that I can establish baseline performance while I explore finding a fix Adobe Flash on a 64-bit OS.
Can someone suggest some tools for Flash performance benchmarking? Thank you.

The best advise we can really give you is that both companies offer free trials and you should download them both and see which works best for you.  I own Parallels Desktop v6, and VMWare Fusion v3.  For me, VMWare s better for some things, but Parallels is better for most.  Depending on what you do and how you use your applications your milage may vary.
One other note to keep in mind.  Since Apple is looking to release a new OS version in the very near future, you might want to hold-off a bit on our vitualization choice just yet.  I would exect that both companies will be working on a new release for support/compatibilty of the new MacOS, so you might want to wait to see if there are any other changes that make you want to lean towards one or the other...

  • Alternate text for "Text content"

    Hi friends,
I have one doube in postscript language to implement alternate text for "Text content"
Can anybody please help me on this
We have using the below tags for alternate text for images.
    [/Subtype /Figure /Alt (Image of Figure 2-1) /StPNE pdfmark
    [/_objdef {layoutObj} /type /dict /OBJ pdfmark
    [{layoutObj} <</O /Layout /Height 70 /Width 140 /BBox [90 290 250 360]
    [/Obj {layoutObj} /StAttr pdfmark
    [/StBMC pdfmark
    Please share me your comments
    Regards,
    Jayakrishnan

I wouldn't swear to this, but I think what's happening is the effect is essentially treated as a separate image during export, but as far as I know you have no way to select it to add the alt text or anything else. I don't really do this kind of work, so I could be way off base here.
A newer version of ID might behave better, so you may want to consider downloading the trial for CS4

  • Adding new hard drive for Flash recovery area

i am adding new hard drive for flash recovery area. How i can make single directory on that flash recovery area & how i can test that i am accessing that rightly , to that directory & flash back recovery area disk?

Are you on Windows or Unix? And are you using ASM?
I'll assume you are on Windows....So after allocating the drive, you will format it say as F drive. Then you can create a directory T:\Flash. The parameter determining the location of the flash recovery area is db_recovery_file_dest. But you also need to set the size of the flash recovery area as well. After that's done. You can do your backups to Flash and see if the directory is populated.

  • 3D content for iOS using Flash Builder? Possible?

    Hi,
Is it possible to use Papervision or Away 3D using Flash Builder 4.6 and compile this succesfully for iOS?
I have previously had lots of fun with Papervision and I am just wondering if it is possible to create 3D interface content for iOS and/or Android?
    HR

I think Away3D (and possibly PaperVision) uses Pixel Bender shaders. They don't work on mobile devices, AFAIK. But Stage3D is supposedly coming to AIR mobile soon. That should blow the socks of any software rendering. I think Away3D will be supporting it.

  • Create Flash Content for Pocket PC "Windows Mobile 2003 SE" from Flash Professional 8

    Hi all,
I would like to create a standalone flash application on my
two pocket PCs (Dell Axim x50 and Qtek S110). These pocket PC
uses the "Windows Mobile 2003 SE" operating system.
At this time, I have installed the "Flash Player 7 for Pocket
PC" on my 2 pocketPCs. Apparently, I have not flash player
    application
that is able to load .swf files but only a plugin for Pocket
    IE. Do you confirm?
I have the license to use "Flash Professional 8". Could you
explain me the procedure to publish flash content for my Pocket PC?
Which Flash version I have to use?
Which Action Script I have to use?
Is it possible to test my application with Flash Pro 8?
Finally, I would like to develop a Flash application in
fullscreen mode and not embedded into Pocket IE. Is it possible to
    realize
    that with Flash Pro 8?
    Sincerely,
    Romain

    Hi Romain.
As at the time of this writing,
I suggest you have a look at Flash Assist by AntMobile
    (www.antmobile.com)
It will allow you to view Flash content at full screen.
It officially supports Flash 5 and 6, but I've used it with
    Flash 7 for the PPC.
Flash 7 for the PPC supports AS 2.0
Macromedia hasn't released a stand alone player /
distribution Kit, or CDK for Flash Player 7 for the PPC, and I am
    anxiously awaiting that as well.
However, the stand alone player for the Flash Player 6 for
    the PPC is available
You will want to change your publish settings to Flash 7,
    AS2.0
    Do some hunting around.

    Cheers,
    Wasim
