ALUI 6.1 Search Server, Filling in the operational gaps

The topic is Search Server 6.1 running on ALUI 6.1MP1 or MP2..
The <root>/ptsearchserver/6.1/cluster/requests folder contains a number of folders each uniquely numbered.
In these folders are timestamped files with ".delta" ext.
We have all these files and they can be collectively quite large.
Question?
Do search server checkpoints help eliminate the collection of these folders and files.
Are there any procedures recommended by clients to maintain the health of the search collection

These files are moved to $PT_HOME/ptsearchserver/version/cluster/checkpoints
Not into the current search index (collection) in nodename01/index/1
I guess the reason why only 1 folder was not moved is that in this folder the indexQueue.segment file is less than 50k. Normally, each request folder keeps growing until the segment file in that folder is larger than 50k before a new folder is created.
Hope this helps.

  • Newsfeed error - The operation failed because the server could not access the distributed cache.

Recently installed SharePoint 2013 RTM, on the newsfeed page an error is displayed, and no entries display in the following or everyone tabs.
"The operation failed because the server could not access the distributed cache."
Reading through various posts, I've checked:
    - Activity feeds and mentions tabs are working as expected.
    - User Profile Service is operational and syncing as expected
    - Search is operational and indexing as expected
    - The farm was installed based on the autospinstaller scripts.
    - Don't believe this to be a permissions issue, during testing added accounts to the admin group to verify
    Any suggestions are welcomed, thanks.

  • Verity Search Server Problem

    Hello all,
This is my first attempt to use Verity on my localhost and
I've run into a problem trying to create a collection via the CF

Verity Collections I see the following error:
"Unable to retrieve collections from the Search Service.

    running."
I've taken the following troubleshooting steps:
    - Checked to make sure Verity was installed
    - Stopped and started the ColdFusion 8 Search Server services
    - Ran the verity-install.bat again. When I did this I
recieved the following error: OpenService Failed: Access is Denied
I'm running Windows Visa Home Premium.
Any thoughts on how I can get Verity working on my local

  • Purpose of certificate in the Operation manager store - ADCS server.

    Hello,
I do have win 2003 ADCS server. When I do mmc snap in for local computer, I can see one of the certificate under operation manager expiring soon.
Can anyone please tell me the purpose of operation manager store - ADCS server.
    Thanks

    Hi,
The Operations Manager store is used to contain certificates which are used for securing communication between Operations Manager servers across untrusted domains.

  • Upgrade OM 2012 to SP1 Beta - Version of SQL Server for the Operational Database and the Data Warehouse

    Hello,
When I try to verify the prerequisites to upgrade my SCOM 2012 UR2 Platform to SP1 Beta, I have these errors :
The installed version of SQL Server is not supported for the operational database.
The installed version of SQL Server is not supported for the data warehouse.
But when I execute this query Select @@version on my MSSQL Instance, the result is :
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP1) - 10.50.2500.0 (X64)   Jun 17 2011 00:54:03   Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation  Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7600: ) (Hypervisor)
    But
here, we can see that :
Microsoft SQL Server: SQL Server SQL 2008 R2 SP1, SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2, SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2012 SP1, are supported.
Do I need to pach my MSSQL Server with a specific cumulative update package ?
    Thanks.

These are the requirements for your SQL:
SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2012 are available in both Standard and Enterprise editions. Operations Manager will function with both editions.
Operations Manager does not support hosting its databases or SQL Server Reporting Services on a 32-bit edition of SQL Server.
Using a different version of SQL Server for different Operations Manager features is not supported. The same version should be used for all features.
SQL Server collation settings for all databases must be one of the following: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS, French_CI_AS, Cyrillic_General_CI_AS, Chinese_PRC_CI_AS, Japanese_CI_AS, Traditional_Spanish_CI_AS, or Latin1_General_CI_AS.  No other collation
    settings are supported.
The SQL Server Agent service must be started, and the startup type must be set to automatic.
Side-by-side installation of System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 reporting and System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Operations Manager reporting on the same server is not supported.
The db_owner role for the operational database must be a domain account. If you set the SQL Server Authentication to Mixed mode, and then try to add a local SQL Server login on the operational database, the Data Access service will not be able to start.
For information about how to resolve the issue, see
System Center Data Access Service Start Up Failure Due to SQL Configuration Change
If you plan to use the Network Monitoring features of System Center 2012 – Operations Manager, you should move the tempdb database to a separate disk that has multiple spindles. For more information, see
    tempdb Database.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj656654.aspx#BKMK_RBF_OperationsDatabase
Check the SQL server agent service and see whether it is set to automatic AND started. This got me confused at my first SP1 install as well. This is not done by default...
It's doing common things uncommonly well that brings succes.

When I search for stuff on the internet it says safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding and non of my games work either. What do I do to fix this?

Settings → scroll down to Safari → in Safari settings, I selected both Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data.
IF that does not work -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Finally - if problem still present -
    Go to Settings>General>Reset
Reset the network settings - you will need to add the password of your home WiFi in your phone once more
The device should turn itself off & back on then go into Settings>Wifi and join your network

  • Filling of the cache server

i would want to know the main system parameters involved in the management of the cache server. Indeed our cacher server fills up until it's full and then some entries are deleted after some delay; i don't know which parameters manage these events.
    Eric.

Caching server is backed by an sqlite database.  If you want to see what you currently have downloaded, you can glean some information by accessing the database.  Use this command to connect to the database:
    sudo sqlite3 /Library/Server/Caching/Data/AssetInfo.db
Once connected, you can use .tables to see the tables in the database but the one with the most information appears to be ZASSET.  Use:
       select * from ZASSET;
To list the current contents.  You will get a series of records similar to the following:
    26|1|5|0|868991341|402440412.42114|402507221.969799|ffaf18a45cd5dd5e853233629036 5767|30B9108D-ABE4-4061-A2E0-42E91301249B|Fri, 06 Sep 2013 18:21:34 GMT|/content/downloads/14/11/091-9722/ognnjd4fno85m4pbapjtnv23b7rf1mkufx/OSXUpd Combo10.8.5.pkg|
Note that the final value is a human recognizable name of the package.  However, you may also see items like this:
    125|1|4|0|11622676|406739736.508118|406739736.508125|4f1f9b08b32f9f6211e4569604b 1efef|481BF3D9-99BB-415F-ADB6-860EDD24B08E|Thu, 14 Nov 2013 10:24:30 GMT|/us/r1000/032/Purple6/v4/37/a3/d2/37a3d2f7-2594-8224-7eda-712f17a3fd8b/mzps 6227198657217312566.D2.pd.ipa|
This is an iOS application.  There is no real way that I know of yet to match the package name (mzps6227198657217312566.D2.pd.ipa) to a product name.

    Hi
I have intsalled the plumtree portal.... The links are working. But when i search any word then it gives following error messages
"Error executing search on Plumtree Corporate Portal : Could not contact the Search Server."
Please let me know what could be the solution to above problem
    Thanks

Santosh,It appears that your portal server can not connect to the Search Server.1) Check to ensure that the "Plumtree Portal Search Server" NT Service is running. It will be an NT service. If you check the PlumtreePortal_v5-0.properties file you should see two entries for where you installed the Search service.SEARCH_SERVER_HOST=servernameSEARCH_SERVER_PORT=15244
    2) If the service is not started, then start it...
    3) You can test connectivity to the Search Server by telnetting to server in question at port 15244 (or whatever port you installed the search service on). If you get a response from Ignite, then the search server is up..

  • Print Server filling the server HD!

Hi, im having a serious problem with my XServe 10.4.9 startup disk, its 80GB size, and has only the OSX Server system files, and right now i have only 800MB free on it!!
i had this problem before, thats why i know that the print server keeps all the file that has been printed through it, but i forgot where it did keep them, i've looked into /var/log/cups/ its 600+MB so its not whats eating my HD, i cant really find it..
any one can help me locating these files and deleting them? and if any one knows how to stop it from keeping copy from each file printed?
i tried several software that can see hidden files and measures folder sizes, but non managed to find this huge folder..

Thanks guys for all the help..
it has been solved finally and thanks to you, here's what i did:
I had to log in as root: sudo -s, otherwise i wasnt able to see either on GUI or shell.
then did: du -h /private/* , and saw that the huge files are sitting on: /private/var/spool/atprintd, inside there was a folder for each printer set on Print Server, and inside that folder there was .ps file from every single file has been printed since the Server been running from the 1st day, it was 68GB of lost space.
then cd into each printer folder and rm *.ps , and my HD got fresh all again..
im just wondering why would the the Server keep all these files for?!!?!? if its ment to keep for whatever reason, cant it be set to delete after a while?! though this problem doesnt seem to be common, i spent hours searching and didnt have much complaining about it!.
Thanks Again guys for all the help

  • Tuning search server cache settings

In search cluster manager under WCI Administration utilities in WCI Portal console, we see a warning msgs as below:
-Docset cache size used does not match the recommended size for this configuration
-Index cache size used does not match the recommended size for this confguration
How to tune the search server cache settings?

Actually, I think these configurations should be done (in WCI 6.5 or higher) in the configuration.xml located in /alui/settings.

When I debug, I can see that the structure GS_RESB is not getting filled through the READ TABLE statement. However, GT_RESB shows the data.
Could you please tell me where am I going wrong and a way to correct it?
    Thanks in Advance!
    Best Regards,
    Ashutosh.

    Hi Joshi
    You can use
LOOP AT GT_RESB INTO GS_RESB WHERE MATNR = BESTAND-MATNR. "BINARY SEARCH.
MODIFY BESTAND TRANSPORTING BDMNG WHERE MATNR = BESTAND-MATNR.
                CLEAR: BESTAND, GS_RESB.
    ENDLOOP.
And please check in debug BESTAND-MATNR .
    Best regards.

  • Trying to link SharePoint 2010 Enterprise with SharePoint 2013 Search Server raises error

    Hi,
I am currently working for a multinational who has SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition installed, 2 WFE SERVERS, 3 APP SERVERS, 1 DB SERVER. They also installed SharePoint 2013 Exterprise recently.
Microsoft have recently come in and set up the SharePoint 2013 Search Server to crawl content in SharePoint 2010 as the replacement search to SharePoint 2010 Search. So they have gone through process of certificates and permissions
setups I guess. I was told it was working, but recently failed. When I type in the search box on a web site for SharePoint 2010 I get the message:
The search request was unable to connect to the Search Service.
I checked the Event log and the Critical error (in Task Category:Timer) I get is the notorious:
The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.CrawlReportJobDefinition (ID fa882704-80d9-415b-9b9d-eae5e9bdefd4) threw an exception. More information is included below.
The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration
component. Verify that the administration component 'e9172a05-22ec-4904-9508-
e5431a180c2b' in search application 'Search_Service_Application' is in a good state and
            try again.
I know administration component is the crawler. I am assuming this is permissions.
The SharePoint 2013 Search Server is picking up SharePoint 2010 site collections items fine i.e. The SharePoint 2013 search shows items from 2010 as expected.
On the SharePoint 2010 central admin box the search service enabled and running (checked with powershell). (SharePoint Server Search 14)
    The Search Service id: e9172a05-22ec-4904-9508-e5432a180c2b
I also get the message in event log for gatherer on SharePoint 2010 CA and Search Server:
Could not access the Search database. A generic error occurred while trying to access the database to obtain
           the schema version info.
           Context: Application 'e9172a05-22ec-4904-9508-e5431a180c2b'
    Details:
                (0x80040e09)
Is this permissions to delete something from crawler??????
I would appreciate if someone could help on this. I have tried to be as concise as possible.
    Thanks.
    John.

It was a case that someone had fiddled with the Service App Associations. Hadn't ticked SharePoint 2013 search. Was still point at 2010. Thanks.
The SharePoint 2013 Search works correctly for SharePoint 2010.
Can someone confirm that the Search Service Application on SharePoint 2010 still needs to exist and hence SharePoint Server Search 14 Service still needs to be running? I am guessing it would as you search from 2010 interface not 2013. I am getting a critical
    error in the Event Viewer:
    CrawlReportJobDefinition (Id <SharePoint 2010 Crawler>)
The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration component. Verify that the administration component <crawler id> in search application "Search Service Application" is in a good state and try
    again.
I think this is related to the fact we have SharePoint 2013 doing the search instead of 2010.
    Any ideas?
    John.
