ALV (Factory class)  field length problem

Hi experts!
I build an ALV report using the Factory method. But I can't set the field length.
When I set the field length in a column attributes it doesn't change nothing
What is the problem?
My column  attributes are like that:
TRY.
      lr_column ?=  lr_columns->get_column( 'NAME1' ).
      lv_text_s = text-103.
      lv_text_m = text-103.
      lv_text_l = text-103.
      lr_column->set_long_text( text-103 ).
      lr_column->set_short_text( lv_text_s ).
      lr_column->set_medium_text( lv_text_m ).
   <b>   lr_column->set_output_length( 30 ) .</b>
      lr_column->set_active_for_rep_interface( gc_default ).
    CATCH cx_salv_not_found.
  ENDTRY.
Thanks forehead,
Dani

Hi,
In ur fieldcat populate the output length field.
  CLEAR x_fieldcat.
  x_fieldcat-fieldname = 'FLAG'.
  x_fieldcat-seltext_l = 'Text' .
<b>  x_fieldcat-outputlen = 30.</b>
  x_fieldcat-col_pos   = 1.
  APPEND x_fieldcat TO it_fieldcat.

  • Displaying Selection option values in header using alv-factory

    Hi all,
    I am using alv factory class 'CL_SALV_TABLE'.
    I want to display selection-option values on my header.
    I have creted grid using class 'CL_SALV_FORM_LAYOUT_GRID' and am displaying other values.
    But am facing problem in displaying selection option values.
    Any pointer on this will be GR8.
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hi,
    Use this sample code.
    form top_of_the_list_main  changing lv_grids type ref to cl_salv_table.
    *Creating instances of the clases
      data :     lv_grid   type ref to  cl_salv_table,
                 lv_header type ref to  cl_salv_form_element,
                 lv_layout type ref to  cl_salv_form_layout_grid.
      move lv_grids to lv_grid.
    *Creating the layout object
      create object lv_layout.
    *Setting the Header Text

      lv_header = lv_layout.
      lv_grid->set_top_of_list( lv_header ).
    endform.                    " TOP_OF_THE_LIST_MAIN
    Loop it and keep changing the row and colom..Pass the selection option to the text field.

  • Comp. Primary key class-field mapping to DB columns problem.(EJB 2.0 CMP)

    Hi!
    I have deal with EJB 2.0 CMP bean.
    I have a composite PK so use the java class to store it. And there is a corresponding field in the Entity Bean with its primary key class type.
    The problem is: when deployment tool creates sql query for the findByPrimaryKey(PKClass ck)
    where ck is an object with 3 fielde : a_id, b_id, c_id.
    it says:
    <sql>SELECT "ck" FROM "MyTable" WHERE "ck" = ? </sql>
    And it means by the "ck" simple a column in DB but NOT the composite key which has to be splited into 3 different fields. So the container can't do the proper mapping.
    Does anyone know solutions?

    I was wrong about primary key class fields, take a look at Ejb2.0 Specification (10.8.2):
    The primary key class must be public, and must have a public constructor with no parameters.
    All fields in the primary key class must be declared as public.
    The names of the fields in the primary key class must be a subset of the names of the container-managed
    fields. (This allows the container to extract the primary key fields from an instances container-managed
    fields, and vice versa.)
    Right now I'm using BMP and I don't have this problems. Primary keys, calculated fields and types not supported by the DB can be easily achieved. But I understand your interest on CMP, is clearly evolving!

    Hello,
    Try updating the description fields of the Fieldcat records prior to defining the outputlen field. Depending on the way you are implementing your ALV, try updating the following fields:
    scrtext_l
    scrtext_m
    scrtext_s
    or
    seltext_l
    seltext_m
    seltext_s

  • File with various field lengths non - fixed cardinalities problem

    Hallo all,
    we have the following problem.
    we implemented a scenario as sown in this blog
    /people/venkat.donela/blog/2005/06/08/how-to-send-a-flat-file-with-various-field-lengths-and-variable-substructures-to-xi-30
    but there is a problem.
    If the file structure is declared as :
    Header,1,Items,*
    then the adapter does not even read the file from the directory (so I assume that for some reason the file structure is not as expected).
    If on the other had the structured is declared as :
    Header,1,Items,3
    everything works.
    Obviously though, this is not satisfying since we need variable cardinalities.
    Any suggestions and help is appreciated
    Thank you .

    Well, I will write the main tests we tried, in case that the situation could be cleared :
    I have a specific file in a standard directory, called xi_input. The file is edited straight into that directory, so there can't be filename errors etc.
    If the file is left empty :
    Nothing happens . No message of any kind in sxmb_moni/monitoring xml messages .
    If the file contains the following (data is random) , where 'H' is the key for the header and 'I' is the key for the items :
    H     20060403     16     3     316001     kapou     lalla     morellala     20060403     F3     23
    I     277101010     2
    I     277101011     3
    I     277101012     4
    There are to cases :
    if the file structure is declared as :
    Header,1,Items,*
    Then nothing happens .
    If on the other had the structured is declared as :
    Header,1,Items,3
    everything works .
    I guess there is now a more clear picture of the problem.
    As for whether the file adapter does care about the file contents or not, I think that if the Message Protocol is "Message Content Conversion", then it does check the structure.

  • Reflect public field from static Factory class

    Hi, i have a static factory(all public static fields and methods, and private constructor), and i want to reflect one of the public fields with reflection. eg.
    package pak;
    public class Factory{
    public static byte MYFIELD=0;
    //private cannot instantiate
    private Factory(){}
    I which to use reflection to do somethin like this in another class
    try {
    Class xClass= Class.forName("pak.Factory"); //getClass ref
    Object xInstance= xClass.newInstance(); //ERR**get Object to extract field Val
    //4 Field.getByte(Object)
    SPECIFIED_VAL = xClass.getField("MYFIELD").getByte(xInstance);
    } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
    e.prin...................
    However as the nature of the static factory, i can't instantiate it so can't use
    java.lang.reflect.Field.getByte(Object)
    what i need is something like
    java.lang.reflect.Field.getByte()
    ??Any ideas on how to over come this?

    To get a single "known" static field you would do:
    Class myClass = Class.forName("my.Class");
    Field myClassField = myClass.getField("myField");
    Object value = myField.get(null);if you want all the fields:
    Class myClass = Class.forName("my.Class");
    Field[] allClassFields = myClass.getFields();Check the API docs under java.lang.Class ;-)

  • How to add field length constraints when using an existing JavaBean model

    Within our current project we used a O/R mapping tool to generate our JavaBean model. For e.g.
    <b>public class Person{
      private String name; ...getName() ...setName(...)
    }</b>
    The whole model is used within our Web Dynpro project. Now it's a requirement to implement field length constraints. Normally this is no problem using ISimpleType like the following:
    <b>attributeInfo = wdContext.nodePerson().getNodeInfo().getAttribute
    (IPrivate...IPersonElement.NAME);
    ISimpleTypeModifiable type = attributeInfo.getModifiableSimpleType();
    type.setLength(60);</b>
    But we've got an runtime exception that it is not allowed to modify the models datatype:
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.context.ContextException: AttributeInfo
    <b>(Basics.Person.name): must not modify the datatype of a mapped attribute</b>
        at
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.context.AttributeInfo.getModifiableSimpleType
    (AttributeInfo.java:337)
    The question is how could a workaround look like. Or is there nothing like that and we have to build a dictionary type tier upon our JavaBean model. Any ideas ?
    thx,
    s.w.

    Sabine,
    You may:
    1. Import JavaBeans model
    2. Create DDIC type with necessary constarints (string-based, max. length 60)
    3. Open editor for target model class and change type of property.
    See my blog /people/valery.silaev/blog/2005/06/29/apojo--almostplain-old-java-objects-as-model (section "Tweaking model classes") for details.

  • Fields Length

    Hi,
    I have pulled up the required e-mail field  from table ADR6 , but the problem is the ADR6-SMTP_ADDR field length is 241 char which is taking too much space in the ALV output may i know how to  reduce the actual legnth of field to the required pls..
    Thxs,
    Vin.

    Hi,
    if you are using 'REUSE_ALV_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE' to build the field catelog, then change the field length with below code :
    loop at it_fieldcat into x_fieldcat.
    if x_fieldcat-fieldname = 'SMTP_ADDR'.
       x_fieldcat-OUTPUTLEN  = 20.
        modify it_fieldcat from x_fieldcat index sy-tabix.
       endif.
    endloop.
    if you are building the fieldcatelog in your own way then use below code to change the field length.
    it_fieldcat-FIELDNAME = 'SMTP_ADDR'.
    it_fieldcat-KEY = 'X'.
    it_fieldcat-OUTPUTLEN = '20'.
    it_fieldcat-SELTEXT_L = 'E-Mail'.
    APPEND it_fieldcat .
    CLEAR it_fieldcat .

    " stru_c_materialplantdata " is not an internal table - the " OCCOURS n"  specification is missing.

  • CATT - vendor/customer master address field length over

    Dear all,
       when use CATT to record vendor/customer master,the address some fields length are over recorded field length(ex. ADDR1_DATA-NAME4,ADDR1_DATA-STR_SUPPL3...etc)
    is there any config in CATT to solve this kind of problem?

    When you are doing your LSMW batch input recording, on selection screen (where you specify the sales org, distribution channel, division, account group, etc) please put a flag on "Use central address management" checkbox (SAPMF02D 0100 >  USE_ZAV).
    In this case you should be able to see and fill the desired fields.

  • What is the best way to declare field length 500 in internal table?

    Hi all,
    what is the best way to declare field length 500(constant value allways) in internal table?
    I am trying to send data from internal table to file format, and I have a field in internal table with 500 length (constant value always). So how do I can declare and append this field value to table?
    Thanks

    Hi.  Please see the following example program, notice how I am filling the field with the constant value.

  • FIXED FIELD LENGTH is not constant

    Hello Guru's,
        This is the question asked in IBM .
    What will you do if field length of a field in flat file is not constant or not equal to the FIXED FILED LENGTH ?.
    i.e. f1 is of length is 10 and in one row its length is only 9 what will happen and what will you do to overcome this situation.( consider its a FILE TO FILE SCENARIO )
    can anyone help me in this regard.
    Thanks in advance.

    The ans for this question is very simple.
    Since your FIXED FIELD LENGTH is 10 correct. now if any value comes of length 9 or less, then there will be no problem at all. It will work perfectly without doing anything. BUT if your length goes beyond 10 then it will throw an error message which you can see in RWB.
    Shorter length is never a problem in case of FIXED FIELD LENGTH.
    I hope now you got the ans, but good way to learn is, to create a simple scenario and test it. )
