Am trying to sync my ipod nano 7th gen. i get this message: not enough access privileges."

i am trying to sync my ipod nano 7th gen with my music on the cloud, via a desktop PC.
I have successfully done this in the past.
now I am getting a series of messages: "not enough access privileges"
have reset the nano and also downloaded latest iTunes software.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
I'm having a very similar problem, so I was excited to see the link above. But when I click on it, it redirects me to the nike.com main website (I'm assuming Nike redid their website since the above link was posted). Could you please point me to that article somewhere else or tell me how you fixed your problem?
My exact problem is this: I was running until recently with my iPod Nano 6th gen and the Nike+ sensor kit (sensor that goes in the Nike+ shoe plus receiver that goes in the iPod Nano). When I would sync my Nano with iTunes (I would have the "Automatically send workout data to nikeplus.com" option checked), all was well with this set-up as far as syncing my stuff to the Nike+ website goes.
I recently realized that for the iPod Nano 6th generation, the sensor/receiver combo is not required anymore. So I ran two runs without the receiver. I kept the sensor in the shoe though as nowadays I mostly run with my recently purchased Nike+ Sport GPS watch and I like to have the sensor in the shoe in case the GPS signal gets lost at some point during a run. Anyway, those two runs that I ran without the receiver won't sync to my nikeplus account. I can see them in my iPod Nano's history and I can see one of them (the latest one) on the Nike + iPod tab of iTunes when I sync my Nano. The difference though is that on iTunes this latest run appears under a "Sensor 1" selection, whereas all my previous runs with both the sensor and receiver would be under "Nike + Sensor" selection. Within the "Nike + Sensor" selection, under nikeplus.com, there's the "Automatically send workout data to nikeplus.com" option and below it a Login ID that shows my Nike+ website log-in info. Within the "Sensor 1" selection, the Login ID is missing. I've tried renaming "Sensor 1" to something else but it didn't make the Login ID appear.
Thank you for reading this and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best,
Dimitris.

  • Playlists will not sync onto iPod nano 7th gen

Since the very beginning of iPods, I subscribe to a number of podcasts that refresh in iTunes automatically. Once a day I transfer the "recently added" podcasts to a created playlist for my daily listening. This allows me to cull out music downloads from the pure podcast list. Since "podcasts" have been separated as an app, iTunes made it difficult to accomplish this. With iTunes 12 and my current iPod 7th generation, I can find no tip that will allow me to continue the practice. I want a continuously playing playlist of the most recently downloaded subscribed podcasts that can easily be refreshed and transferred to my iPod nano 7th gen at the end of each day.

There is no Apply button there, until you change something.  Until you make a change to a setting on that screen, the button (where the Apply button is located) says Sync.
It is somewhat difficult to understand what you are describing.  The Recently Added playlist is a smart playlist.  It comes "pre-installed" with iTunes.  However, if you right-click on it and select Edit Smart Playlist, you will see that the two rules for populating it are
Date Added - in the last - 2 - weeks
Genre - is not - Podcast
Therefore, if that is the playlist you are referring to, it intentionally excludes podcast episodes.  If you want a new smart playlist that lists podcast episodes downloaded in the last two week, you can start with the Recently Added playlist.  Don't modify that playlist.  Right-click on it and select Duplicate.  Name it (the duplicate) something like "Recently Added Podcasts" (or whatever you want).  Right-click on it and select Edit Smart Playlist.  Change the rules so that they are
Date Added - in the last - 2 - weeks <- You can change the number of weeks as desired.
Media Kind - is - Podcast
NOTE:  I suggest using Media Kind instead of Genre, because it more accurately identifies items that are podcasts.  Something can be a "podcast" without Genre set to Podcast.  But everything iTunes shows as a podcast MUST have Media Kind set to Podcast.
That new smart playlist ONLY shows all podcast episodes downloaded in the last two weeks.  You can then sync that playlist, if you want them all, or use it as the source to manually update your "daily podfest" playlist, and then select that playlist on the iPod's Podcasts screen (as described in my previous reply).

  • Help with Syncing new iPod Nano 7th Gen

I just bought a new IPod Nano 7th Generation.  I set it up on iTunes and was able to sync music to it but was unable to sync photos from iPhoto or Photos (the new beta photo app with Yosemite).  When I chose Sync All Photos the only choice was the Pictures folder or other folder, thus only one picture synced.  I suspect this has to do with the beta Photos app but not sure.  Also my new iPod does not show up in the iTunes list of approved devices.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks so much.

You have to shake the Nano again to get it to Shuffle to another song. If you want to shuffle the songs in your playlist, start a song from that playlist and then enable the Shuffle option from the additonal controls that you bring up on the Now Playing screen.

  • I have Mac OS X 10.5.8 is this why I cannot sync  my ipod nano 7th GEN

I had no problem when I got my new ipod nano about 2 years ago......notice in the pass few months I cannot sync music to my nano.......do I have to upgrade my macbook to OS 10.6.8? or higher?

Yes you do need to upgrade, and especially Upgrade to the latest version of iTunes on your Mac.  And then, as expert User kenichi Watanabe informed another user with that issue,:
"The latest version of iTunes may hide the sidebar.  If it is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  With the sidebar visible. when you connect the iPod (to the same USB port used by your other iPod), does it appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES?
If it does not, I would shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices including hub.  Start up with only standard keyboard/mouse connected (if normally used).  Do this to Reset the iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
Run iTunes.  Connect iPod to a direct USB port on computer."
"If the iTunes sidebar is visible, does the iPod appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES?  If it does, select it there.  The iPod's Summary screen appears to the right.  The Restorebutton is there.
If you are able to do the above, click the Restore button.  This will erase the iPod's storage, re-install its software, and set it to default settings."

  • Keeping my itunes playlist order after I sync to iPod Nano 7th Gen

So I created a playlist but I am having trouble keeping the order of songs after I sync. I have tried rating them as well but as soon as I sync, Alphabetical order is what I get. Any thoughts?

In iTunes, go to your playlist.  On the playlist, click on its column header row at the far left end, above the column with sequential numbers below.  That sorts the playlist by playlist order, and you can change the song order by dragging songs around on the list.  You may have done this already.
If you sync this playlist to the iPod, it should appear in that order on the iPod.
If it does not, you may not be looking at the playlist on the iPod.  If you select the list of All Songs on the iPod, it will be in alphabetical order.  Even if you only have one playlist synced to the iPod, the All Songs list is not the playlist.  If you select the playlist on the iPod, it should be in playlist order.

  • ITunes freeze's when trying to sync my iPod nano (1st gen).

    Hello.
I can't update my iPod, because iTunes freeze's when i try so. I can't restore my iPod, because no button names that is appearing. I can't update it either, so donøt know what to do. I just downloaded the newest version of iTunes, and it didn't help.
I've been thinking about, reinstalling iTunes, but what will happen with all the music then? I've used tons of hours on getting it on my computer, so don't want it to get lost. What will happen with the music if i reinstall?
    Thanks in advance, 0eyvind

The music files should stay right where they are, in the music folder.
Reinstalling iTunes will change stuff in the c:Program Files folder.
That being said, it's always a good idea to have backups in case something goes wrong. You do have backups, right?
Also - before every itunes upgrade, you chould also back up the library ITL file which holds all your playcounts, ratings, etc.
I back mine up on a USB stick, or you could just put it in another folder on your hard drive.

  • Ipod nano 7th GEN no audio out from head phones jack

I am trying to use my Ipod nano 7th Gen with a monster wireless remote that connects to the charging and sync connection. The remote works fine and I can control the Ipod just fine with it, but when I connect the headphones to the headphone jack there is no audio. If I remove the wireless remote receiver from the charging sync connection the headphones jack works just fine. I am using a lighting speed to a 30 pin adaptor because the monster remote receiver is of the 30 pin format if that matters.
Please let me know if this is normal or if there is a work around. My intention is to use the Ipod connected to a motorcycle sound system using the headphones connection to connect it to the motorcycle system amp and control the Ipod wirelessly.
    Thank you!

Can you provide a link to the monster product, or the model name/number?  If it's a Bluetooth product, it seems superfluous to connect the receiver to the dock connector, because the 7th gen nano has built in Bluetooth.
So, IF the remote control device is Bluetooth, you may be able to pair to it from the nano without connecting the receiver device to the dock connector.
If it's not Bluetooth, you may be able to find an equivalent remote control device that IS Bluetooth, and not need to connect anything to the dock connector, which seems to be the source of the problem.

  • IPod Nano 7th Gen says "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported" when trying to charge / sync

iPod Nano 7th Gen says "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported" when trying to charge / sync with official apple lightening cable.
It worked for almost a year then suddenly began to say that. My computer [windows], lightening cable and my power brick [all apple official] are all the same as they were when it was working. The iPod is almost a year old now, and has worked perfectly up until about a week ago.
I have tried resetting the iPod, plugging it into different charging sources but it keeps saying "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported"
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks.

Your iPod Nano firmware and iTunes updated to the current versions?
It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.

  • I got a new iPod nano 7th gen., but when I tried downloading a video from my iTunes library a message popped up that said: Some of the videos in your iTunes library cannot be copied to your iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod.

I got a new iPod nano 7th gen, but when i tried downloading a video from my iTunes library a message popped up that said: Soem of the videos in your iTunes library were not copied to yor iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod. What should I do?

I kept having a similar problem - 3 out of the 10 videos I had on iTunes wouldn't sync. They were in the right format and I KNEW they worked on my iPod because I'd RECORDED them on my iPod. I finally figured out what to do! Go to the movies in your iTunes library. Click on one that does not sync. Click on "Advanced" at the top of iTunes and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version". Once that's finished, be sure you delete the old version so you don't keep getting the error (or have 2 copies of the same video) and sync. This should eliminate the problem. At least it did for me!

  • IPod Nano 7th Gen Syncing Erratic

I have a peculiar problem with my iPod Nano 7th Generation (16GB). (Software Version 1.0.3). I am using iTunes 11.0.3.54 on a Lenovo T440 Laptop with Windows 7 32 Bit O/S.  The syncing process behaves erratically.
When I synch small playlists, fewer songs the sync works perfectly. When I select larger playlists, while iTunes reports that syncing is complete, when I eject and take out the Nano, it says No Music. All Music content (including those available previously on the device) disappear. When I reconnect the iPod, iTunes says <<it cannot read from the iPod and that  I need to restore>>. I have done several restores. I have even completely uninstalled iTunes and all support software (following http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923)  and reinstalled. The same issue continues.
After iTunes reports the problem (of not being able to recognize / read from iPod), when I look at the iPod using Windows Explorer, all the standard iPod_Control Folder / Files including the Music files are all there. Only iTunes is not able to read it due to corruption of some kind. It beats me.
On the same Windows PC / same version of iTunes, the rest of my devices (iPad-1, iPad-Mini 2nd G, iPod Touch 4th Gen and an iPod Classic) are syncing properly. Only Nano 7th Gen is having this issue. I tried different cables, direct connect / connecting through a hub etc., Nothing works :-( .
Finally I tried syncing it with another Windows PC (of my friend) and it syncs without any issue, any size. Tried several times and it works. iTunes versions are same. Windows USB support driver is also the same. Problem appears specific to my Lenovo T440 PC. Can someone please offer some advice ? Thanks !

    Hi kumaradevan.g,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue syncing music to your iPod from a specific laptop. The article linked below provides a lot of great tips that can help resolve the syncing issue that you described.
'Disk cannot be read from or written to' when syncing iPod or 'Firmware update failure' error when updating or restoring…

    I hope this helps.
