The scam that was reported that there are problems on my system not only gives the message but takes a hold of the system and will not go away unless you restart the system. It gives a continual beep. Can Skype do something about this??

I've been getting these for a few days, my account has not been suspended as I can still access it.  I have gotten 3 now.  Also.. you need to make it easier to report this stuff!!  I spent half an hour to hijack someone elses complaint.  Dealing with problems is just as important as supplying a product and taking in the cash from the customers.  Get with it Skype!  The last two were sent only 1 second apart on the same day.

  • Premium messaging scams

My current bill has 2 charges on my wife's number for premium messaging services "Pure Luv Alerts"  and "Cellfunz". She swears she never subscribed to them. A quick internet search shows numerous scam reports from others who had the same thing happen. How can these companies get away with this? Can Verizon do anything to prevent it? Do these services have some official business relationship with Verizon? If so you should sever it with the companies that are doing this.
PS I've now blocked premium messaging services on both our lines.

There are ways to subscribe to premium SMS services without fully realizing that you have done so. Probably the easiest is through Facebook. By giving Facebook your mobile # and playing some of the endless games available via Facebook COULD subscribe you to a premium SMS service. I am sure that this is listed in the ToS that you have to agree to when you first play one of these games. How many people just click "I Agree" instead of actually reading these agreements? Anytime you give out your mobile # on a website, you are also setting yourself up for the possibility that the website will sign you up for premium SMS. Do you read the privacy policy of any/all websites you visit or give your cell # to?
Does Verizon do anything to prevent this? Yes, and you have taken the precaution that Verizon offers to prevent exactly this from happening. I have done this to ALL of the lines on my account.

  • Any way to block messaging phishing scams?

My husband and a lot of other people have gotten the text message (smiONEcard)  Call 800 997 0065 Immediately!  478655XXXXXXXXX Account Issue. The states hardest hit seem to be PA, GA, FL and I am in TN.
I was suspicious and googled the info above with SCAM after it and WOW - there were a lot of hits and they were all Verizon customers.
I wonder if Verizon needs to warn their customers.  Does typing STOP prevent them contacting us again?
    Thanks.
    Ann

Never reply with stop. Verizon Has a text Scam reporting text Which you Send the scam text to them for Investigation.
use that first. its Under spam controls on http://www.verizonwireless.com

  • Scam artists using skype

I am concerned about the response rate of skype or their protocol and framework for handling scam reports. I recently uncovered scam artists offering jobs and video calling using skype names and I wanted to get them off as soon as possible. May we be protected expediently please.

  • Reporting: Txt Message Phishing Accounts / Scam ac...

I don't know why on earth it's so hard to report suspected phishers/scammers (without credits on my account anymore I can no longer contact customer service).
    Anyway.
Some accounts are linked to some scam that sends SMS messages to people's phones, and has been associating individuals' names with their real phone numbers. The SMS messages ask the individuals to contact them on one of the following skype names.
    amanda.spencers
    Babbum8
    bam_25
    nikita_barnes
I'm not sure what happens if someone actually messages one of these accounts on Skype.

I got a similar text message yesterday:
"Hello <my name>! This is Jenny. Please add me on Skyype msgr so we can chat a bit, its: Bam_25"
The phone number listed as the source was 313-499-9157 though I assume that can be spoofed. I googled Bam_25 and came across this post.
While this doesn't necessarily indicate that my name and phone number was obtained via Skype, clearly this Bam_25 character (or someone that doesn't like him/her) is up to no good.

  • I recieved a scam email from apple. then sent me the same email using my own email account. how do I report this to apple. can't find any contact details.

hi over the past month have received maybe 5 scam emails from apple.
I opened one the other day cause I thought well maybe it is from apple.
went through the steps and it was  amazed at how well they did at copying apple website. you could even go to the apple shop page from their page!
what set me off that it was fake was that I tried to open the other apple pages along the top and it wouldn't let me. so I opened my own apple page and logged in. and realised that they don't ask for your bank details in your Apple ID account.
anyways so now what has happened is I got an email today " from myself" with this same scam email. it is as if they have hacked my email account and sending me these emails. I want to report this to apple but am unable to find any contact details apart from call back options. does any one have any advice on this.

I've had that same exact issue, I received the first e-mail claiming to be from Apple last night (though over the past week I've received two other scam e-mails from different addresses claiming that my bank transactions have been aborted). It said it was from my own address, and I checked it closely to make sure it wasn't a spoof account but found it was indeed my own e-mail address. Five minutes ago I changed my password, and I have just now received a second e-mail exactly the same, still coming from my own account. My best guess at an explanation is that it may have been sent before I changed my password and there was just a delay in the message sending, resulting in it coming through after changing my password.
I've now forwarded the e-mail on as an attachment to the [email protected] address, however this still doesn't help me with regards to stopping these e-mails. It concerns me that even though I changed my password they still possibly have access to my account. I tried checking my account activity but as opening the mail app on my iPhone is considered as a log in and I check it almost twice an hour, it's impossible to tell which could possible be an intruder logging in.

  • Got a warning about a reported attack page. Described what an attack page is, and then there was a linked button to install as update for Mozilla/ Firefox. scam or legit? I took a screen shot and then closed the window. What should I do now?

I was in Zyngas/ facebook frontierville doing my thing and then this "information" came up on the scree, not as a pop-up. Panicked for a few and then realized that it could be a scam and wanting me to click on the button to do exactly what it described an attack page would do. I have a screen shot of it, no idea how to post it here, even if I can. Did I do the right thing, and how do I keep it from happening again?

What happens when we receive what seems to be a legitimate warning? My message looks like that at the 'Reported web forgery' and 'Reported attack site' links. Can we just choose to 'Ignore this warning'?

  • TS1702 How do I report an app that intentionally scams it's users?

The only thing ever mentioned when having a problem with an app, is to contact the developer. But the developer's website is in Arabic or something. But more importantly, their app was created with the intent to deceive consumers.
The app in question is known as "Mobile Cinema" by grees artoul. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mobile-cinema/id498619950?mt=8
The app is listed as a free app with a $9.99 in-app purchase option to purchase the ability to view over 4,000 movies. Upon doing so, you quickly find that what you get instead is a link to IMDB for about 30 movies. That's it. So you get no movies, but instead a wikipedia article on when the movie was created and who starred in it. You don't even get 4,000 IMDB articles, it is all a scam and there appears to be no recourse. The problem isn't a glitch or bug with the app, the app was intentionally made to deceive people from the beginning.
The way the developer is getting around the system is when you first download the app, he tells you to rate his app 5 stars and it will unlock an additional 15 movies. So being a free app, and people's attention spans. Most of the free users do just that and all those 5 stars drown out the 1 star people who actually paid for it, because free users > paid users. Now when the ratings for the app start to fall, the developer just 'updates' the app to a different version and the cycle starts over again with reset stars for the current version. It is a blatent scam and if you read through the reviews, you can see it, but it doesn't matter and there is no hope for a refund.
I know that the money lost is gone for those that bought into it, but there should a way to report this to Apple, but all the articles just say "contact the developer", which naturally is culprit in the first place. Apple's suggestion: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702

I received a chat from skype_coordinator20120 informing me I was a lucky winner on the Skype Lottery and should contact Mr. Philip Kenedy on [email protected] to see how I could receive my US$500,000.  I know this is a scam, and have blocked the address, but think Skype might want to take extra measures to stop this and block this user from Skype, period.

you can also report that user to [email protected]

  • Is there anywhere to report scam emails?

I received an email  stating I had an invoice for a purchase £28.99 that I didn't make, the link took me to an official looking site, but looking further into it the site I realised it was not secure. I know others won't look into it as much as I did and may enter their Apple id and password into the fake site. Does Apple have anywhere where these scam emails can be reported?

Forward them to [email protected] and then delete them.

  • How do you REPORT Phishing Scams sending personal messages in these Forums?

I've looked high and low, and I have no idea how to report a user. Nor how to report Personal Messages of the following nature:
I first realized it WASN'T actually a Staff member after I saw current forum status as a regular "member", then was further clued in by the "English" used in the message body.
Why isn't there "Report as SPAM" and "Report PHISHING SCAM" options in the mailbox? Once you have been here for a while they are likely easy to spot, but it's obvious they are targeting those who just barely set up their accounts and are receiving other mail in the inbox automatically from the server.

  • Reporting "Skype Office" scam attempt

I failed to find any way of contacting customer support and decided to report this here rather than on facebook. By the way you should really fix your support page, it sent me to microsoft and microsoft sent me back to the skype support page and I found no email adresses or in browser forms anywhere. Now anyways, I have no idea where I was supposed to post this, but I just got a message from an account I don't know, which is an OBVIOUS SCAM.
