  • Migration FOREX deals from Non-SAP system

    Hi,
has someone experience with migrating Treasury deals?
    > how did you migrate?
    > what tool/ transaction did you use?
    > what number of deals should there be to have automated update?
    > what problems could arise?
    > are there specific settings required in
    > Other hints?
We have around 600 (forward) FOREX transaction that would need to be taken into a SAP ERP 6.0 system and we try to find out how to do this best.
    Any hints much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
In ECC6.0, you will need to activate the extension EA-FS. When you do this, you will see a new node for Financial Supply Chain Management in the IMG. Navigate as below for the data transfer process:
Financial Supply Chain Management ->Treasury and Risk Management->Transaction Manager->General Settings->Tools->Legacy Data Transfer
You will need to refer to the IMG help and the link below for help.

  • Amazing service from Apple for my iPad Air

Probably the first time i ever taken the trouble to give feedback, but given my recent positive experience with Apple i really felt i had too.
My problem revolved around my 128Gb iPad 3 which was just on the edge of it's one year guarantee - i think. The battery was failing and i had an issue with the power button being stuck. Following initial remote diagnostics via a very comptenent technican the battery problem was isolated. Apple then put excellent communication together and my ipad was picked up via UPS. Another amazing bout of communication stating that my device was received and being worked on followed pretty much the next day by an email stating my device had been replaced and was en route back to me.
In summary in a space of 4 days my ipad was picked up, replaced and a new one was back in my hands. Indeed i write on it right now !
Never in my life had i experienced  service like this and helps me justify why my family own a combined  4 ipads, 3 iphones and a MAC !
Thank you Steve Jobs a superb foundation created.

  • Your website is showing the weekly deals from last week still?

When will the new one be available?

    Hi Matt,
I just checked our deals page, but it looks like this week's ad (3/9/14 - 3/15/14) is currently available. I'm guessing the site was updated shortly after you posted, but you'll want to make sure you're not viewing a saved offline page if you're still seeing last week's offers.

  • IPad and MiFi deal from Verizon Wireless

    Hi, all,
Check this out at http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/ipad.jsp  This will be a great Christmas present for you or for someone else.  I wonder if the new relationship between VZW and Apple is a sign of good things to come...?  We shall see.
    Doc

The MiFi is a dedicated hotspot, just like the new fivespot device.
The reason you got the MiFi upgrade requirement on the ipad plan is that there are 4 plan options there that are all offered ONLY on the iPad/MiFi bundle. If you go to the next tab over in the mifi/netbooks column you will see 2 plans listed there you can select, the 5Gig and the 10 gig one. At least that's what I got on my netbook plan, with the same "upgrade" requirement for the ipad plans. Now since you have a MiFi, you also might see thd 3Gig/$35 plan also,, since it's on a "promo" whatever that means, but because my netbook is not, I didn't get it, which is of course, the plan I reeally wanted.
I personally do not like this device selectivity at all. I think these plans should be totally device agnostic. Tablets, netbooks, mifi's, modems, aircards, whatever, they should have equal access to all plans. I don't like Verizon choosing my device for me depending on what data delivery package I want. Their job is solely to deliver data, not tell me what devices I must use or where I can consume my data, be it a phone, a mifi, a tethered computer or a 3G-equipped sky-writing WW I bi-plane flying in the deep blue sky.

  • Open box deal was not as much of a deal as we were told

After doing some research online, we made more than an hour long trip to the Boise, ID (store# 526) location to purchase a speaker system. After speaking with the associate named Tony (associate#removed per forum guidelines}), it looked like we were going to get a great deal. Prior to paying for the item, we specifically asked if the contents included the remote. We were told yes. We then paid for the item and told it would take a day for the item to be dismounted from the display and we could pick it up then.
After waiting a day and making the trip back, we were told that the item did not have a remote. I asked if the remote ever existed and was never given an answer. We were told by the associate and the manager that we got such a good deal that we could buy one from the manufacturer and still have saved money.
After waiting another day, I decided to call the store and see if there was anything they could do. I was told by another associate from the home theater department and a customer service manager that there was nothing they could do and I would have to purchase the remote control from the manufacturer. Regardless of whether we decide to spend more money to get the item we were told we were getting, up to this point there has not been one associate, manager, or customer service representative to apologize or simply state that they made a mistake. We have been marginalized and minimized by being told over and over again that we got a great deal.
    Solved!

    Hello JamesOss,
Our open box items are great to snag when available, as they’re usually floor models, or returns that didn't meet someone’s needs for one reason or another. When packaged back up, they should be labeled with what accessories are included, the condition, and any mark downs applied accordingly.
It is regretful if you were misinformed about the inclusion of the remote control. It would be quite annoying to find it wasn't included after being advised it was, and I am sorry if this information wasn't provided accurately.
After reviewing the receipt for this purchase that I was able to locate using a bit of your information, I see that you were able to purchase the floor model at a clearance price on top of the open box price. While that definitely means you got an amazing deal on this system, it doesn't excuse any mistakes that may have been made. That being said, I am sending you a private message to gather further information about this experience which you can view by signing into the forum and clicking the envelope icon in the top right corner of the page.

  • Call of Duty Ghosts Deal of the Day 7/17/2014

Is it really true/possible that the video game deal of the day offering Call of Duty Ghosts for PS4 and XBox One really sold out in about an hour this morning or will there be more available?
I get the idea that "you snooze you lose" but I work for a living and being up between 1-2 AM my time is impossible.  It would be really nice if Best Buy would offer a rain check on this one.  I really wanted to get this game and that was a great price point!
Anything that can be done about this one?  I was up at 5 AM and it was already gone.  The only reason I know it was gone quickly is because of posts on another board.

    Hi billycuth,
As an avid gamer, I’m constantly checking Best Buy’s Deal of the Day as there are often some amazing deals. The Call of Duty: Ghosts Deal of the Day promotion you’re referring to was a perfect example of the types of sales I’m keeping an eye out for. Sadly, like you, I also missed this sale due to the demand. I’m very sorry for any frustration this has caused as that’s far from our intent with these promotions.
Per the Deal of the Day FAQ, these deals are generally up for 24 hours, or until they sell out. Once gone, Best Buy does not offer any price-matching or rain check opportunities as the Deal of the Day products are all limited in quantity. Again, I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Keep an eye on BestBuy.com as it’s definitely possible we’ll run more gaming promotions similar to this one in the future! Thanks for posting and please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Renewing Contract? + Amazing Offers made & Signed

After being a customer with BT for 8 years, offer I get for Infinity Option 2 and line, total price= £38.1
Last year they offered me: Special offer discount - £ 8.35 on £41
I asked whether if the sales person would waive of the hhb4 charge, he declined.
I don't know what to say, if I call this an appauling offer (which it is) , I will get a lot of backlash from top posters, mods e.t.c
I know some of you will ask me to negiotiate, which I will, however, the stubborn employees of BT Sales are not that interested. What do you recommend and do you think its time for me to leave BT forever?
I read on another thread that a very high poster on this forum managed to get an amazing deal and is saving £200, compared to the £24 that I will be saving.

Update Guys: Sky is offering me deals that have now expired.
Before I start, I was never going to buy the BT Vision service. Just before shutting my PC down around 11pm, I was on the Sky's build a bundle site. A pop came up for live chat, this amazing person offered me an expired deal.
TV Unlimited Extra£15 a month comes with 18 extra channels, none in HD
I am waiting for Sky to give me a call back, they have agreed to give me 50% of on the line and Fibre Broadband, but I need Fibre pro (80mb). I would still like to stay with BT as what they have offered me for the line and broadband isn't bad but no way near what Sky is offering me.
    BT's offer atm:
    1> BT Infinity Opt 2 and Evening & Weekend Plan £22.65 + 15.45 : £22.65 (12 months) + £129 upfront: £400.8
Unfortunately, wasn't offered a free hub as of this moment, however, since I stated the press release salesman put the deal down on my account, so, when I do give them a call back in June I will get the above deal plus:
BT Sports on Sky (going to subscribe to Sky soon), BT HHB4 for free, BT Cloud 50gb
Nice so the Admin has decided to remove the Sky's 50% off offer that I had posted here. Very nice move, if you are going to remove something in future, then please remove the account too, that way I won't bother returning to the forum.

  • Creating from scratch, a css layout for my website

I am building a website from scratch and I would like to use CSS.  I am conceptualizing the design, however, I am struggling with designing it and working with the div tags.  I would like to have two sidebars, one on each side, and for them to be tri-colored, which means I have to create three small boxes and align them closely together, each a different color (the colors are part of the theme to my website). Of course the links on the sidebars would be white, and then change colors when hovered over or clicked on.  I would like to have a header and a footer, with the header containing my logo and if and only if I can get real fancy; a scrolling message.  My footer would contain additional links such as 'additional links', and 'contact us' and all the necessary copywrite info.  Please let me know, if first, my conception of this layout makes sense, and if so, what tutorial you could recommend for me to view that would assist in my web site development.
Thank you, all you great tech minds out there!

I'm with Murray.  I don't think you should concern yourself with HTML5 and CSS3 yet.
Stick with XHTML and CSS2.  When I was learning to work with CSS positioning, it was immensely helpful to use a pre-built layout.   And I learned a great deal from looking at source code.
Look at the DW Starter pages described below:

If you have some money to spend, Project Seven has some excellent CSS Templates.  If you plan to do more projects, CSS Layout Magic is a nice extension for prototyping inside DW.

  • MacBook and Applecare from Amazon

    Hi,
I hope we have someone who has bought MBPro (or any Apple computer)from Amazon. I just cannot resist the deal from Amazon for MBP with $150 Rebate (new ones on back order). Question - If I buy this from Amazon, and buy Applecare (discounted at $299) how does that work. i.e. With being back ordered, MBP would arrive later than the warranty. Is there a timeframe that the warranty needs to be activated?
Also, if there is a problem, do you return it to Amazon or Apple?
    Thanks,

Apple doesn't care where you buy AppleCare from as long as you buy the AppleCare product that matches your computer. (If you have an iMac you buy AppleCare for iMacs, etc) What you get is a little box with a hardware diagnostics disk in it and a leaflet with a registration number. You go online to Apple's website and register AppleCare to your computer. A few weeks later you'll get a confirmation letter from Apple.
Just to ease your mind here, while I work for an Apple reseller and get an employee discount, I am almost always able to find AppleCare at a lower price at eBay or other reseller. If you buy from an eBay dealer, just be sure you are dealing with a reputable supplier. I've never had any trouble registering AppleCare for my notebooks nor have I had any trouble getting warranty repairs.

  • Linking Account Object to the Dealer Object

    Hi,
Has anyone tried to use the Dealer object?
It seems that linking an account to the dealer object requires categorizing the account type to 'Dealer' from the pick list. If I change the value it still works. However, we have more than 1 dealer type and would like to use multiple values that will all do the linking.
Does anyone know if there exist other values that link the 2 objects or whether there is a way to add new values that will link the 2 objects?
    Thanks.

    Colin,
Not sure what you are trying to do, but the dealer object is same as account with the account type of dealer. If you are familiar with enterprise Siebel just consider it as a business component that references the account table with a search specification for account type = "dealer"
You can have a field on the dealer or account called dealer type make this a cascase picklist to account type and classify the two types of dealers - am not sure if this is what you are trying to do.
If you are creating an activity or an opportunity there is an account field as well as a dealer field (You will have to configure this on your page layout), in this way you can reference your activity or opportunity to both dealer and account. Am not exactly sure if this is what you are looking for.
The sad part of using dealers/ Vehicles is currently there is no reporting capability for both these objects, you can try doing some reporting using the account/asset object respectively - it could get bit confusing.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need VZW to deal with this, very uphappy customer

I’m submitting this complaint, hoping Verizon Wireless management can help me out in a situation in which I feel Verizon Wireless mislead/deceived me.
My wife and I have been Verizon Wireless customers for approximately 7-8 years, we always pay our bill on time and have been great customers.  We have always just got 2 year contracts with basic flip phones and avoided smart phones due to our frugal nature.  I didn’t see having a phone with data package as a necessity.
My wife’s phone had been acting up, periodically turning itself off.  We dealt with it for a few months, but decided it was time to get new phones.  Our previous 2 year contract had ran out a year or so ago, so we were eligible for a phone upgrade.  We saw an upgrade deal from VZW for free iPhone 4s phones.  Using the Verizon Wireless website to shop around, the price to upgrade to the new model of the basic phone we had would be $50 a phone. So we weighed the options and plans and looked into the iPhone 4s.
After running through the plan options numerous times, we decided to keep our same voice plan, have no text plan and share a 2GB data plan between two new iPhone 4s phones. On the last page of the “Customer Agreement checkout” (of which I have a screen capture), our “cart summary” states that our monthly cost will be $79.98, which is right around the same price as we are paying for our basic phone plan.  I said to my wife, this seems too good to be true, but it states right here “$79.98 – Monthly”.
Using that as our justification to purchase the phones, we agreed to a new 2 year contract on March 2, 2014.  We received the phones via FedEx on March 6, 2014 and received our monthly bill on approximately March 12, 2014 for $204.45.  I’d been expecting our bill to be around $160-$170, due to the fact that the cost of our phone “upgrade fee” was $60 and included in the next months bill, so was surprised to see it for $204.45.
I didn’t have time to contact VZW until this afternoon on March 22, 2014.  I spoke to two VZW reps, one a customer service employee, the second a Supervisor named Athena.  I explained to Athena and emailed her a copy of the checkout cart summary which stated our monthly bill would be $79.98.  She said that that didn’t take into account the voice plan we previously had with our basic phones which we continued to use for our new contract with the iPhones.
I told Athena that was very misleading; nowhere in the checkout process did it make clear that the cost of the voice plan wasn’t taken into account in the checkout cart summary.  We would not have upgraded to the smart phones which now cost us approximately $120/mo, vs. the approximately $80/mo we paid with our basic phones.  The $40 cost of the voice plan should be included on the “checkout cart summary” giving us a “true monthly cost”.  Athena told me that she didn’t know why the cost was not on the checkout cart summary and that she did not design the website.
I told Athena I’d like to return the iPhones, which would remove the data plan costs.  I’d also like to purchase new basic phones (the current model of our old basic phones) which would keep our monthly bill at approximately $80.  She told me that we were at day 16 of the VZW 14 day return guarantee.  This means that we cannot return the iPhones, we own them and are locked into a new two year contract.
I told Athena that we received the phones on March 6, but didn’t have the bill until approximately March 12, which means we haven’t even had 14 days since receiving the new monthly bill for approximately $120/mo.  She said this didn’t matter, the 14 days started when we received the iPhones, not when we received our bill.  I asked her to bend a little and extend us a 2 day grace period so we could return the iPhones.  She would not.
I said this is very misleading and deceiving, based on the “Customer Agreement checkout cart summary” we should be paying $79.98/mo.
Athena offered to find us a cheaper plan for our smart phones, but couldn’t get us back down around to the $80 price range we previously had.  Her only idea was for us to sell the iPhones on our own (since we now own them, it’s been 16 days vs. 14 ), find/purchase some old basic phones, then call VZW back and “Change Devices” from iPhones back to basic phones.  This would remove the data plan and get our monthly cost back to around $80/mo.  I said that sounds like a pain and that we would be back to square one, except that we were now locked into a 2 year contract, based on what I felt was a misleading checkout system and a tardiness of 2 days.
I told her that I was very dissatisfied and said that they would lose my wife and I as customers as soon as our new 2 year contract was up.  It seemed as Athena didn’t care.  The way I look at it, I’m locked into a 2 year contract based on misleading information and can’t do anything about it.
So that’s my situation. Feel that VZW took advantage of my wife and I because we “Should have known” (Athena’s words) that the cost of our old contract’s voice plan would be added onto our new contract.  On top of the $79.98/mo cost the checkout cart stated.
Nowhere in the final “Customer Agreement checkout cart summary” was the "True Monthly Cost"stated.  If it was, I never would have upgrade our basic phones to smart phones.
I’d love to be able to send my iPhones back to VZW and go back to having 2 new basic phones (the new model of our old contract’s basic phone model) under a 2 year contract.  VZW would still have me locked down with a contract, I'd have the cost point I expected to have.
    Thanks,
    Matt

What you have done there only ensures that one thread can execute that particular update at a time. You should do this regardless, since you wouldn't want two threads both getting into that code -- you might get prod_qty from one thread and prod_no from another thread.
However what you have done there doesn't prevent two customers from both ordering your last widget. And I don't think locking the table will help. What you need is a method that does this:
    - Get the product record
    - see if there is anything on hand
    - if there isn't then set on the out-of-stock flag (or whatever)
    - if there is then decrement the on-hand quantity and update the product record
And this entire method needs to be synchronized on some object.
