AMD A6-5400k - CPU1: Not Responding

Hi fellas,
I got a new CPU for my maschine, which runs on ARCH-x86_64 Kernel 3.6.10. So far everything went fine but one thing:
At boot, only of the two cores is recognized. This is only the case in Arch, both BIOS and Windows show both Cores. I rebuilt my initramfs and reinstalled linux, but none helped.
I realize, there are several topics around the www and this board, but none of them helped me in my case.
I tried some things, like booting the LTS-Kernel.
Any ideas how I can solve this issue?
I got the outputs of dmesg (system boot):
I think the relevant Lines are around 0.17000.

Sorry fore double-posting, but there's something new:
At beginning, the PC continued booting after throwing this issue. But now, Booting sometimes just stops at the very moment when the CPU is not responding.
...sounds like a hardware problem to me given the sporadic nature.

  • Firefox4 keeps haning on first page , and shown not responding at top of page.had to install 3.6.16 to get firefox to work.(no virusses/mall/adware etc. found, amd explorer worked fine) how can i get ff4 to work properly again (like it did for two weeks)

When i open FF4 the first page opens(google search).
the when i go to, lets say gmail, it will open but when i try to look at an e-mail, it won't load.In the bar at the top of the screen a msg shows (in Dutch) saying" firefox reageert niet" (firefox is not responding).
All I can do is close FF and when I start it again it opens with a window asking me to start a new session or open the latest session.
No matter what choice I make the outcome is the same. I can open 0ne page , and then get the same msg as before.
I ran several anti virus programs as well as Mall and Spy-ware killers, restarted the computer, started the computer from a point in the past, nothing helped.
As this went on I was able to use Explorer.
    As a last resort I re-installed FF3.6.16
Now everything seems to work again.
But in the two weeks I worked with FF4 it worked really nice, therefore I'd really like to be able to to use FF4

  • CS6 Not Responding - AMD Radeon 6630m issues

I have been faced with an increasing number of CS6 freezes, primarliy when in the middle of some quick select editing on raw files, which appear to be the video card. Windows informs me that the "Display Driver AMD stopped responding and recovered" in the windows task bar. After this message shows Photoshop is frozen, and listed as not responding in task manager at which point I have to kill the process. Are there any known compatibility issues with this video card and\or drivers and Photoshop? I have the latest driver from HP (this is an Envy 14), which had the version 9.0.0.0 driver from AMD. I tried the latest beta drivers from AMDs site and it gave me an error saying that the hardware was not supported and to use the manufacturer provided drivers.

  • IPod does not respond at all when plugged in

Alright, this topic is for people who have had this exact problem only. I don't want to get this confused with other problems and have people trying to help troubleshoot multiple problems and get things mixed up. Here's the problem.
After updating to v1.1.2 of the iPod software, the iPod does not respond when plugged in. The iPod still works fine when not plugged in. It plays music and both the standard and shuffle play modes work accordingly. The problem is when you plug the iPod in, it doesn't charge and it doesn't mount. The orange blinking light does not come on. While plugged in, it works the same way as it does when you're listening to music with it. It's as if the iPod's USB connector is dead. Here is my original post and description of the problem.
Alright, so here's my story. I bought my 512MB Shuffle in April. It has worked perfectly fine since I got it. Last night, I updated to v1.1.2 of the iPod software, clicked no when it asked if I wanted to restart, added some songs to the iPod, then restarted. As of this morning, I went to listen to some music while out for a bike ride, and I was greeted with the red battery light. I thought it was a bit odd since I had left it plugged in overnight. I figured, what the heck, I'll just plug it in and let it charge when I get back. When I got back, I plugged it into my PC and left for a while. I came back later and went to grab my Shuffle and I noticed it was cold, which was unusual after charging for a couple hours. I plugged it back in, a bit frustrated, and it never came up in Windows. I looked at the iPod plugged into the back of my PC (a high powered USB port) and sure enough, no orange light. No lights at all. I can still slide the switch to one of the play modes (standard play or shuffle) and play music for a couple seconds before it stops and says the battery's dead again. It works.. I mean it turns on and plays music, it's just not charging or mounting when I plug it in. I tried multiple computers and USB ports, none of which worked. I would really like some help with this considering it IS my only source of portable music and I'm not going to go pay $50 to talk to tech support or have it sent in for repairs. That's half of what it's worth.
I've tried uninstalling all iTunes/iPod related software from the PC I normally use it on and reinstalling it. That didn't work. I also tried uninstalling again and installing the last known working version of the iPod software, still no results. The only thing I havn't tried is giving it a good beating... Not that I would. Anyways, I hope there's a solution to this that doesn't involve buying a new one.
Here's a rundown of the computers I tested it with.
    500MHZ G4 Cube (384MB RAM/Mac OSX Tiger)
    400MHZ G3 iMac (384MB RAM/Mac OSX Tiger)
4.2GHZ AMD 64-Bit running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (my PC)
    515MHZ Dell running Windows 2000 (256MB RAM)
UPDATE: The BIOS won't recognize the iPod, so it has nothing to do with my computer. Somehow, installing v1.1.2 of the iPod software made it so the iPod itself has USB problems. The iPod works to the extent of playing music and showing the battery charge level. I get no response at all when I plug it in, from the computer or the iPod.
I'm going to have to agree with Philip Harhay on this one. The original 10GB iPod I bought 3 years ago came with a full one-year warranty, no extra charges. I am disappointed to see the Shuffle only coming with a three-month warranty.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

Help! I just purchase an iPod Shuffle for my son's birthday and I cannot get the darn thing to show up on my iMac G5. I am running OS 10.4.2 and I have downloaded the latest iPod and iTunes software. When I try to restore my iPod to the factory settings it tells me to plug the iPod into the computer, but it is plugged in. I have tried different USB ports, too. I'm running out of ideas and so is the trouble shooting Apple site. I was hoping someone out there might have some ideas.
It showed up at first and I transferred a few songs from the iTunes to the iPod but I couldn't get them to play, so I plugged it back into the USB and the icon never came up.

  • Problem with Youtube and Flashplayer : some options are not responding anymore

I have a very strange problem since few days only on Youtube (other famous flashvideo websites are working without problem) I tried many things already without success.
I can still play videos on youtube, excepted the buttons under the player are not responding AT ALL. I can still see them but it's not responding (or for exemple when Im going on the youtube player "Sound" icon the bar volume doesn't appear)
I tried already to uninstall flashplayer and update it to the last version (10...38) but no changes. I have the same problems on all browers (IE; Firefox and Chrome). I also reset all Firefox and IE without success. Reinstall Java. And I have the last drivers for my graphic ard AMD.
Here is a few pics to show my problem :
You can see clearly that the button for resolution doesn't appear at all.

    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/225/29761205.jpg/
Quite strange also on IE you can see that there is a kind of bar who seems to block me the access to the control of the youtube player icons :
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/812/ie2q.jpg/
Im on Windows 7 64Bits, but i'm using the 32Bits version of Firefox and IE, I tried also to turn OFF my Avast Antivirus and my firewall. But no changes.
If anyone has an idea, i would really appreciate because even if i can still watch video, i cannot change the audio volume of it and change the resolution or even activate the google subtitles options. The only icons who are responding on the youtube players are the two on the right (to enlarge the screen).
    Regards,
    Yann

  • Adobe after effects not responding, ever!

I have been having this issue for a long time and cant seem to find a solution, maybe I am wording it wrong, i dont know. It worked just fine for about a year, but now basically every single time I open adobe after effects cs5 it works for about 1-2 minutes and then freezes, the typical "this program is not responding" message shows up with no error code. it doesnt matter what I do or what I click on, it happens every single time! Its really frusterating! my computer has 32 gb, I'm sure that is plenty of RAM. I have done all the updates on the adobe website (including the quicktime updates) I saw OpenGL mentioned many times but I cant seem to find anything like that on my computer so I dont know if that is a problem or not. I noticed on the sytem requirements list (I have a windows 7 professional) they said that the processor must be Intel® Core™2 Duo or AMD Phenom® and my computer has intel (R) Xeon(R) cpu  5160 @   3.00GHZ  3.00 ghz (2 processors) I honestly have no idea if that would be a problem. If anyone else has had this issue I would love to hear how you fixed it, I have tried so many things chances are I already tried it but still.

okay sorry it took so long, this is my dads old computer so I had to keep calling him haha. so I literally anwered everything, I really want to find a solution!
    1) adobe after effects cs5 with the 10.0.2 update
    2) on the adobe website it looks like this is the most recent update for cs5 on windows
    3) windows 7 professional 64 bit opetrating system
    4) intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU, 2 processors, 32 GB of ram, NVIDIA Quadro FX 5800, 2 disk drives, no external drives
    5) NVIDIA Quadro FX 5800
I couldnt seem to find anything about CUDA , I googled it but couldnt find anything to tell me how to find out this info, if you know please let me know
    6) nvidia quadro fx 5800
    7) source footage is microsoft video AVI, with quicktime
    8) it was just the typical "this program is not responding, please wait for the program to respond" I let it run a couple times to see if it ever responded but it never did. but the last couple of times I opened AE it just freezes and no message shows up.
    9) it doesnt matter what I do, even if I just open it and let it sit there it still freezes up.
    10) it worked for about a year, I dont beleive anything major has changed on my computer, but I have been stuggling with this problem so long I wouldnt be able to remember anyways.
    11) yes quicktime is installed and updated, it is version 7.7.4
    12) I usually dont have anything else running other than AE
    13) I asked my dad about this and he said he didnt think so so I assume that means no.
    14) yes I have openGL enabled
    15) within the first two minutes of opening AE doesnt matter if I am editing, ram previewing, or nothing.
    16) I have tried checking and unchecking the "render multiple frames simultaneously multiprocessing" and the problem occurs either way, but right now I am using it.
    17) no use of ray traced 3d rendering
    18) not an out put problem
    19) exact sequence of steps? well... I click on adobe after effects, it opens kinda slower than it used to, then I usually will his ram preview because then I can see when it stops exactly, but I also have tried opening it and just looked at settings or preferences or what not and it would freeze then, or I will click on a diffrent compositions and it would freeze. pretty much whatever steps I take it always happens.

  • Windows 8 Pro Adobe Bridge CS6 5.0.1.23 x64 not responding

On my new SSD with a fresh install of Windows 8 Pro and Adobe CS6 Design and Web Premium, I regularly get a "(not responding)" warning in Bridge's (5.0.1.23 x64) title bar when opening a folder location, and the program takes around 10-20 seconds to display folder contents. This seems to be an indexing or caching issue, but I have not resolved it through the following fix attempts.
In Bridge settings, I have placed the cache on the OS SSD at "C:\Users\York\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS6\Cache", and I have placed it on a separate internal physical HDD at "D:\Adobe Bridge CS6 temp cache". I have experimented with all other options (100% previews, export, manage, compact, and purge cache - restarting the app after each tweak).
I have Ctrl-opened Bridge to access the "Reset setting" dialog box, where I restored default preferences and purged the cache. This did seem to alleviate the problem temporarily, but it did not resolve it.
I have not uninstalled, repaired, or re-installed Bridge because it is not listed as a standalone app in the "Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall or change a program" window or the Adobe CS6 Design and Web Premium installer.
My system is Intel i7-2600K, Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti, 32GB RAM, Samsung 840 250GB SSD, various HDDs.
My other system, an Intel Quad-Core Q6600, Asus P5Q-Pro, AMD Radeon HD 6950, 8GB RAM, Samsung 840 250GB SSD, various HDDs, does not have this problem.
    Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks for the input, Curt. I have not changed the TEMP/TMP directories, which are set per Adobe instructions at http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/bridge-crashes-changing-temp-file.html. Temporary "not responding" freezes (10-20 seconds) are my issue. Crashes, as others are reporting due to the temp directories, are not occurring.  Other thoughts are appreciated.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 won't open "because it is not responding".

When trying to open Premiere Pro CC 2014 it won't open and I get the message "You can't open the application "Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014" because it is not responding.
I've done my updates, uninstalled it, reinstalled it. Even did a clean re-install of the Yosemite OS but nothing. It opens up fine on my laptop.
    I'm on an iMac 27, late 2009.
    2.66 GHz Intel Core i5
    16GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB
Really need this to work asap.
    Thanks.

A variety of issues can cause PPRO to crash on launch. Here are some of them:
a problem with the Preferences, or some other pref-related file in the Profile-<USERNAME> bin.
    the graphics driver
having an integrated graphics chip as well as a graphics card. Disabling the integrated chip often fixes this.
having Nvidia CUDA drivers installed on a system with an AMD card
    third-party plug-ins
a problem with the cache files.
a problem with the project file (if you're loading a project...)
folders that Premiere writes to being set to read-only
the user not having administrator rights
a conflict/incompatibility with some OS setting
a problem on the licensing/authentication side.
The fact that you've done a fresh installation of 10.10 eliminates some of those possibilities.
After a crash on launch, does a dialog box eventually come up prompting you to submit a crash report to either Adobe or Apple? If so, please click "information" or the like to access the crash log and copy/paste the report here.

  • IE11 Shows :Program not responding, on Desktop, after IE File is closed out

Hi, I am looking for help with this odd problem and cannot find any other question like it.
My PC has Windows 7 64bit installed on HP pavilion g7 notebook. I use 32 bit browser I mostly go to in private as I have to erase all Temp internet files manually.(Different problem)
I always open IE , not in private first, and again before I close out to insure some needed      files are in temp internet files. I have done this for 3 years as this PC has a quirk and am
telling this just so you have all information. Still EI will close out, as below, no matter what!
After IE 11 update KB2962872 IE works well but very often after closing out IE file a message appears on my Desktop saying that the program is not responding....looks for solution.....then says to close out IE. But I had already closed it out???? The
message takes 1 to 3 seconds to appear on my Desktop. Makes no sense and I have tried many things. Tried a compatibility       trouble-shooter and when  I give the file for IE it said this program cannot be tested.
IE does not show up in Programs and Files , from my control panel?
    Event viewer shows Error:
    Faulty Application name: IEXPLORER.EXE, version:11.0.9600.17207,time stamp:0x53a20c50

Action center shows this problem and thus my performance is about 2 on 10.
Thank you very much for looking at my question.

    Hello Picpansnap & Rob,
I encountered a similar problem, as Picpansnap did "After IE 11 update KB2962872 IE works well but very often after closing out IE file a message appears on my Desktop saying that the program is not responding....looks for solution.....then
says to close out IE." This happens now every time I open IE.
I agree Rob that this is likely a 3rd party add-on problem. In my case I tried the consumer solutions 1st.  I myself did try all the recommended solutions and even ran the good old fixit tool. However I was not ever able to get to Tools>Internet
Options>Advanced as my browser would crash shortly after opening. This became very frustrating so being an IT professional myself, I of course came to technet to check the forums.  KB2962872 is a recent update at the time of this writing and as such
the consumer site may not quite be aware of the need for an advanced solution as of yet.  Picpansnap showed some advanced level understanding by sending an event viewer output, it was the similarities between his output and mine as well as your mention
of 3rd party add-on's that prompted me to remember another method to turn them off as I had tried Tools>Internet Options>Advanced unsuccessfully due to the quick crashing of newly opened IE page.
I remembered how to diagnose an individual IE add-on so I opened internet properties and from the program tab clicked the manage add-on button and proceeded to disable all IE add-on's and bring them up one by one to see which one was the culprit. In my case
it was the avast online security add-on that was the cause. With that add-on disabled Internet Explorer is now working fine. I have a subscription to avast internet security and am passing on this information to them as well as to http://answers.microsoft.com
I would like to wholeheartedly thank both of you for providing me with the clues to get my own IE working again. I had just performed a re-install of Windows 8 due to AMD's 14.4 driver hosing my USB, sound & DVD drive. I was able to get the sound &
DVD working again without the re-install but after spending hours in forums and trying solutions I was left with the re-install & update all the way back to Win 8.1 as my only option (recovery image was on external USB drive , of course). That was a battle
and I really do appreciate the posts here in technet where many problems with Microsoft programs are resolved 1st.  I usually am a reader only & this will be my 1st post, I hope this can help others with similar issues.
    Chuck ;)

  • My Photoshop CS3 is 'Not responding'

    Hi all.
I havent been using my photoshop (CS3) for the past month because everytime I try to access it, it starts up but doesn''t show the interface (only the window). I would wait for the interface to display but it never. When I click on the window, it ends up 'not responding', then I'd have to close it. I've also tried re-installing it but that doesn't help. My RAM is 2G, 1.6GHz AMD processor. I've used it before on the same system.
    Please help

    Try a Preferences Reset first:
Press and hold Cmd - Shift - Opt immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop.  If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be VERY quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your established preferences, which will lead to them all being set to defaults.

  • Keeps not responding

Ok, so I had premiere pro installed. I started a project, and had it cut down to the good stuff. Then it started not responding. I closed premiere pro and opened the project again, as soon as the project loaded it would freeze again. This happened several times. So, I restarted the project. After a while the same thing began happening. So I uninstalled premiere pro, upgraded, and re-installed it. The same issue still exists, but slightly different. It appearrs that everytime I use the scroll bar in the time line to navigate it freezes. I suppose I can just try the hand tool to navigate. But that's not the point, these programs should have this happen. Should I restart the project again?

    Version of premiere pro: 5.5.2
    Just installed updates today
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP-1
The source files are h.264 in .mp4 rendered through aftereffects w/ sound
Problem (step by step). I click premiere pro, the polygon pops up (sometimes the loading box with the text flashing through extensions and plugins shows up separate on my second monitor, othertimes not). Premeire pro opens, asks me to choose a recent project, new one, or open one. I choose my recent project. It opens, it gives me the screen that says "loading media" in place of the video files, then the video loads, and the cursor has the spinning circle like it is loading something. Then, a dialog box appears "Premiere Pro CS5.5 has stopped working - Premiere Pro has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution and will notify you when it is available." This also occurs if i choose open project and select the project. It does not happen with other past projects.
This program has worked before, and this project has worked before. This is actually the second time this has happened using the same files, which makes me wonder if the files are corrupt somehow. I started over once before and it worked the second time. Then I moved on to scene 4 and it started having the same error again. I am not sure what is causing the problem.
I have made sure that all background programs are down except for the essentials and that Premiere pro is the only program running, including having all browsers or file browsers closed out. I do have carbonite backing everything up, has this been known to cause issues? It does back up the files I am using in this project.
I do have the neat video plugin installed.
Computer is custom built so I know everything in it, here it is:
    Biostar TA890GXE
    AMD Athon II x4 635 2.9ghz
    ATI Radeon HD 5770 GDDR5 1gb
    Samsung Spinpoint 1TB 7200Rpm
8 GB Cosair Vengeance RAM DDR3
4 GB PNY XLR RAM DDR3
CPU has a big rig fan on it and never climbs above 30C even on full 1080p render, so I know that is not the issue. The computer runs beautifully. The only thing i can think of is that possibly one ram stick is bad. But really I'm thinking the files must be corrupt somehow or that carbonite is disrupting saving and causing the project to corrupt.

  • Firefox Locks Up And Is "Not Responding" A Lot

This has been going on for years. When I have 3 or 4 tabs, especially facebook open, and am watching a youtube video Firefox freezes up a lot. I just dealt with it but I'm starting to get sick of it. The only addons I use are DownloadHelper and AdBlock Plus. I have a lot of plugins disabled. I don't know what is causing this but I just checked on my CPU Usage and Firefox was using 266,000+ K and that's not counting Flash, which was using 70,000+ K. Someone please help me fix this extremely irritating issue.
    PC Details:
Windows 7 Home Premium (32 Bit)

I have followed the troubleshooting solutions, reset, no add-ons etc.. even full uninstall & reinstall. Nothing has worked to resolve the issue.
FF hangs with Not Responding is frequent, while this is hung, it locks up my entire PC and I cannot do anything including opening Task Manager.
