Premiere Elements 9 not responding

When the software starts to generate a peak file it get up to 99% then the software stops responding. Dell xps 8300,5.9 window experence index,processor intel r core tm i7-2600 [email protected] ghz, installed memory ram 8 gb, system type 64 bit opetating system,amd radeon hd 6450 1gb ddr3.
Sometime it will freeze when I can get film to editing stage and workingon it. Need Help very frustrated.

Well I tried my new Sony hd camera and everything seams to work, but now my

You mentioning the psa.prf file helped me in googling the steps you mentioned for other users on the forum, so thanks for that.
Also your direct download link was helpful, as the package is not able to update from the help/update function.
Any idea why the update functionality is not working properly?
I still need another update for camera raw, for both photoshop and premiere. I found links for direct dowloads for versions 6.5 and 6.6. Also the direct links end in a crash, see attachment.
Do you have suggestions?

Great news. Great job in working through the details to get to the solution.
I was waiting for more information from you so that I could give you version specific information on the how to.
But you seemed to have found the paths needed without supplemental instructions.
The two major troubleshooting tools that I would use when the Elements Organizer is involved
a. delete the psa.prf file
and/or
b. create a new catalog.
Best wishes as you move forward in your Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 projects.
By the way, if you are not working from the 9.0.1 Update, good idea to do that.

You can do that update with the program closed....do not bother with Help Menu/Update for this update. Use the link instead.

Installation Adobe Premiere Elements not working

I'm trying to install the Adobe Premiere Elements 13 but it's not working. I downloaded the file for the trial version, after downloading i also had to download something called Akamai netsession Client ? I dont know what it is, but i installed it as well. But everytime i want to open the setup it says that an error occurred. I cannot open adobe premiere elements, what should i do? i did the installation 4 times now, it's still not working

Bin soeben beim Installieren. Falls mal jemand das selbe Problem haben sollte... nach Installation von SP2 für Vista (dachte ich hätte das schon gehabt) und Benutzung der selben CD wie für die Installation von PSE 8 funzt es nun... Darauf muss man erstmal kommen... 2 Programme, 2 CD`s die Beide gleich aussehen... und da soll man 2 Mal die Selbe nehmen... egaaal.
Thread könnt ihr, wenn ihr wollt schliessen.

Premiere CC "Not Responding" Message after opening

Hi,
Two of my projects (one last week that I managed to get open) have crashed. They open up on CC, then the project loads and I can see everything fine. However, when I click anywhere, Premiere goes white and it says "Not Responding" on the top. I tried opening my previous files but they crash as well.
The first one I fixed by renaming my footage files (to break the links), opened it, then re-linked. However, this doesn't work on the second project.
When I press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, then go back to my desktop the 'white' and 'not responding' disappear but once I click premiere, it reappears again.
What could be causing this? Since there are no error files, I can't figure out what's going on.

More information:
1. Premiere Pro CC for PC
2. Windows 7 64bit
3. Source Footage (7 5D cams, and 1 RED cam - shot in 3K)
4. No error message, just white screen and "Not Responding" at the top.
5. This occurs right after opening up the project (project loads, and I can see everything, but once I click a window, everything turns white).
6. No other programs running.
7. No third party codecs installed
8. Hardware: Xeon E5420 processors (2 quad core), SSD main hardrive, 2 Tb HDS x6, 8 gigs RAM, NVIDIA quadro FX 1700

Photoshop Elements not responding

I just purchased Photoshop Elements and have registered and loaded all my pictures but now everytime I open the program another screen appears on top of the welcome screen about taking a tour, I have taken the tour several times now because the only way to get out of that screen is to take the tour and then it will open up to the home screen, then the program will not respond and that is as far as I can get. My computer meets all the requirements for this program, can anyone tell me what might be the problem, is there a number to call to talk to someone from Adobe?

A number of people have reported here problems with a tour that just won't go away. Some Adobe employees were participating in the threads, but I don't recall seeing a solution (there might be).
Meanwhile, you can work around the annoying Welcome Screen by avoiding it, starting the Editor and Organizer directly. See this FAQ:

photoshop elements is not responding at all. it will not open images. it will not process multiple images.

Try to reset the preferences :
Windows
Step 1. Hold down the Alt + Ctrl + Shift keys as you click on the icon to open Elements. When asked if you want to delete the settings file, say yes.
Step 2. Reset the preferences as above.
Step 3. Close Elements and let the file regenerate.
Macintosh
Step 1. Hold down the Opt + Cmd + Shift keys as you click on the icon to open Elements. When asked if you want to delete the settings file, say yes.
Step 2. Reset the preferences as above.
Step 3. Close Elements and let the file regenerate.
Try to edit the imagesw on photoshop elements again.

Premiere Elements not Opening

I bought Premiere Elements about a week ago. I installed it, opened and used it. Now, not but a week later, it will not open. I have a computer running Windows 8, I have no clue why it won't open. I uninstalled and re-installed it will no luck. Tried contacting Adobe support and was disconected after a hour and a half of waiting... Please help! I need it for my school project!

Premiere cs4 Not Responding after a few mins use

Hello,
I have been using premiere cs4 to make stop motion videos for awhile on this computer and have started having problems with the software.
Everytime I try to use it after a few mins sometimes 5 sometime less it goes white and says not responding resulting in having to close the program. Im starting to get late on deadlines and this is becoming a problem. Ive resorted to doing one step saving then having to close the program and repeat the process.
My system...
i5 750 OCed to 3.5ghz
8gb 1600mhz ram
I know its not the best but untill now its done this work for me fine. I am using stills at a res of 1920x1080 at 150 dpi and there are thousands of stills but again This is a new problem and I have been doing this for awhile with no issues.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I did attempt a small batch sized as you stated but it did not help. It doesnt seem to matter what I'm working on within the program I could have no content and just click different menus and within mins the system will stop responding. That being said the final video must be in 1080p.
Here are the the items requested in the FAQ given.
i5 750 OCed to 3.5ghz also tried stock clock settings.
8gbs 1600mhz ram
2 hhd set up as follows
500gb 7400rpm hdd, program Pagefile, Media cache
1tb 7400rpm hdd, media, project file, previews
4gb virtual page file
win 7 fully updated
premiere pro fully updated
No Audio used
Ive tried various file sizes and settings to match those files all with same result.
As I state above the actual conent size, type and quantity doesnt seem to matter 3-5 mins in and it just stops responding.
Things ive tried so far.
I did extensive mem tests on my ram with no issues
reverted my over clock to stock settings
reinstall the software several times.
Also of note my ram never goes over 50% usage so Im not using all my ram.

I never designate the external hard drive as the save location. It makes a copy automatically.
Also, you mention investigating “drive speeds.” I didn’t think the external hard drive has a drive speed (?).
If it does, would that mean the external hard drive is somehow helping the desktop internal hard drive?
I’m not sure what you mean when you say: (With the plug in and out external hard drive situation), periodically check the drive letter of the external hard drive to assure
that it is not changing. That could cause some media disconnect issues for your projects if the projects source media are
stored on the external hard drive.” I think the external hard drive just makes a copy.

Premiere Elements not allowing me to edit photos. I am not interested in videos. Also not opening photos from other sources. Windows 8 computer

I have many photos in my files and computers; most of them are visible in Premiere elements Organizer, but I can't edit them or pull out individual ones. Often cannot open a photos that comes in an email. I don't use videos; I just want to edit my photos.
Did I buy the wrong program?

Premiere Elements is a video editor not a photo editor. This is why you cannot edit your photos.
The organiser is for both Photoshop (photographic editor) and Premiere (video editor) elements. This is for managing your photo and video library.

Can Premiere Elements NOT re-encode a video file

I want to take 200 HD camcorder files and put them on a Blu-ray disc with a basic menu structure.
I know Premiere Elements can do the menu structure. My question: Is it able to use the video files without re-encoding them? (The source files are 1280x720, H.264/AVC, 29.97fps.) I can't test this using the trial version because it watermarks the video.
If PE can't do it, am I overlooking some simple way of doing Blu-ray menus using the Creative Suite products? I have used Premiere Pro and Encore to author BDs, but that involved setting up every element of the menu structure by hand.

Premiere Elements not starting

Hi
I purchased (and starting to get some serieus regrets) premiere elements 9.0 and running it on WIN7 x64
When I start it the welcome screen starts, when I chose New Project it tries to launch Premiere, but it stalls first for a long time at
the stage of ExporterQuickTimeHost.prm it takes a really long time and then the welcome screen looks again like I never clicked anything.
If I now click again on New Project , the welcome screen disappears completely.
I read some stuff about GPU settings and all, but I never get to that stage. Since I bought PE9 one week ago I never got to stage of even seeing the damned program!!
I noticed that 2 processes are started
Adobe premier elements.exe
and
Adobe premier elements 9.exe
They keep running, but there is no GUI
I updated the graphics drivers to the latest, I updated Quicktime to the latest, my WIN7 is fully up to date with the latest updates....

If you can get it working in diagnostic mode, try adding the various items back. Either do this one at a time or by halves.
Halves - say you have twenty items loading:
add back half (ten) and see if it still works.
If it does then the problem is in the half you removed.
If it doesn't then the problems is in the half you left starting.
If it does (2) then add back half (five) and see if it still works. Repeat the halving until you get to the last item - that should be the problem one.
If it doesn't (3) then take out another half (five) and see if it now works. Repeat the halving until you get to the last item - that should be the problem one.

Premiere pro not responding

I have been working on a project, then when i saved it last and reopend it, everytime it shows up with a not responding message and the program shuts down. I have aready tried rebooting. Twice.

Windows keeps thinking Premiere is not responding?

Hey guys, so I am curious to know if anyone else has encountered this and how it might be solved.
Basically the problem presents itself as Windows immediately greys out Premiere and has the 'This program has stopped responding, please wait while Windows checks for a solution' and the only option is to let it do so then it quits it, or just cancel and it quits it anyway. On rare occasions it doesn't come up with the 'program is doomed' screen, it comes up with the one which lets me wait for it to respond, which I would and it comes right after 10 seconds or so. I used to have CS4 and this was not a problem
In this current project it has become so frequent I struggle to get any work done, it's only happened once or twice in other, more complex projects. I can't pinpoint exactly what's causing it but I can only theorize it is whenever RAM is needed quickly, such as scrolling through a bin of clips, loading several clips in the source monitor (most common), or scrolling the timeline at a few random points. The fact that Windows is so quick to disable the program makes me think it's a misidentification rather than Premiere actually crashing.

(only other program ever running at the time is Firefox, but still happens without it going)

Using the HDV 1280x720 25fps template with all 1080 files scaled to fit, the project consists of a single 3:30 sequence and close to 200 individual files in the project with maybe 50 clips on the timeline. There are 2 audio tracks and 1 video track, no transitions or effects applied yet, I am still merely trying to cut things into place

I think it's safe to rule out any background processes since they don't seem to pull the same kind of prank with other projects, and apart from the semi-beyond-my-control processes like MSE and Apple its only system stuff.
However, good spotting on the Cineform, liked that idea so much I sought a copy of version 5 (for CS5) and so far it's holding up... have to nap for now but I'll run some more stuff tomorrow and let you know
Sidenote: I've also had the Windows Performance pane open next to the program monitor on my 2nd screen since - RAM is yet to go over 5GB but it just slowly builds itself up, is that normal? I've never watched it for so long before.

Premiere keeps not responding every time I use Dynamic Link. What do I do?

Hi all,
I am having an issue with my Premiere Pro CC (ccv8.1 / newest update).
Every time I create an After Effects comp from a clip and go into after Effects, when I then go back to Premiere it has stopped responding. What do I do? I should have enough RAM etc, this is driving me crazy.
I've had this issue before, talked to Adobe Support who guided me through a process that was supposed to help but didn't.

Can Premiere Elements 12 Burn to a RW Disc?

Is Premiere Elements 12 capable of using a DVD+RW? Despite setting the DVD Player on the iMac to NOT play a DVD when inserted, whenever I insert a DVD+RW to have Premiere burn a DVD the DVD player starts and the burn always fails. I can use a never written to DVD+RW and can do ONE burn to it but then any other attempt fails. I used to use Pinnacle Studio on a Windows machine and I used RW discs multiple times until I had a version I wanted for a final burn to a DVD+R. I am getting very frustrated with running Premiere Elements 12 on an iMac. I don't know who to blame - Apple or Adobe.

When you got the device error at the end of the burn to as you described in your latest post, did you check the disc to determine if it had been written to completely in spite of the device error which you probably responded to with a Cancel?
I was going to do some troubleshooting on this player opening when a burn to is initiated with a DVD-RW and ran into a curious situation.
My DVD-RW coupled with the burn to disc were not interfered with by the player opening. But, if I used Blu-ray BD-RE coupled with burn to disc, there was my Cyberlink player popping up unwanted. My remedy that works consistently is quickly to click on the player close button, and then the burn to goes to completion successfully.
Is it possible for you to get some DVD-RW discs to compare to the DVD+RW?
It does not seem that this is a matter of Premiere Elements not being compatible with DVD+RW since you can burn to that type of disc provided the disc is a new blank desk. I do not have access to a Mac computer to dig into this deeper. But, we would be very interested to learn of your further progress in this matter.
Do you have access to Apple Support for its point of view on setting of Mac AutoPlay?
