AMIS releases set of JHeadstart Application Generator Extensions

Now you can have JHeadstart generate:
- radiobuttons (horizontal, vertical, grid-style)
- stacked regions and side-by-side regions
- JavaScript event code
- different prompts and displayTypes for Find, Table and Formpages
- Bubble help (balloon help)
- NLS enabled hint-text
- CSS styles per item, region or group
- LOVs that diplay and return more than one value
- a lot more than this
through the JAG Extensions just published by AMIS. See for all details, examples, instructions and the necessary software: http://technology.amis.nl/blog/index.php?p=225.
Note:
- it is for JHeadstart 10g (9.0.5.x) (not for ADF JHeadstart and not for JHeadstart 9i (9.0.4.x)
- it only affects JSP generation (not UIX)
- it is a consolidation of our JHeadstart Cookbook's recipes
- it is free (and not supported)
- just as manual post-generation changes are not covered by a migration to ADF JHeadstart, these generated extensions are (probably) not migrated. We may provide a migration facility of some sort to help you migrate the AMIS JAG Extensions.
We hope you will like this package. We would appreciate it, if you would let us know what you think!
best regards,

Lucas, just amazing.... ;-)
I hope you will provide a migration facility to JHS-ADF as it will be released in the (very) near future.

Marcel

  • JHeadstart Application Generator in batch mode?

    Hello,
    We working in an environment based upon Continous Integration. Each night we re-create our application in a separate environment in order to validate the application.
    Is there a way to start the JHeadstart Application Generator in batch mode?
    Regards Leon Smiers

    Hi Smiers,
    I am trying to setup something similar with Continuous Integration. Did you find a solution to this? How can the java classes only be within the scope of JDev?
    I have multiple app def files in JHS and would like to be able to do two things:
    1: Create a batch file that will generate all apps, one after another, so developers do not have to monitor all the generations to start the next one.
    2: Setup continuous Integration so that it will try generate all app defs to make sure they are valid and also to run tests.
    We are trying to do this in ANT so a java API or custom ANT task to do this would be ideal.

  • Command to execute the jheadstart application generator ?

    Hi,
    I would like to use Ant scripts to call a command to execute the jheadstart application generator. Just Wonder what is the command and parameters to do so.
    Our project has multiple app defs, It may be useful to re-generate them all at some times.
    Thanks,

    Is it possible to run a java command to generate outside of Jdeveloper? There must be a java class to do the gen, I guess the question is if the gen relies on any of the jdeveloper design time objects.
    It will be very helpful to integrate the generation in the build process. Our project is 100% jheadstart generatable (with a lot of customization templates) and includes about 10 application definition files.
    Thanks,

  • New record insert in JHeadstart application deployed to Tomcat

    Hello Friends,
    I developed an application with JHeadstart and it works well but when I deploy it into Tomcat a problem appears:
    I have some records -let's say employees- and I want to enter a new record. I click the "New Employee" button but the selected record seems in the form instead of empty form. This problem is seen in the first run of the program.
    How can I overcome this Tomcat problem, I need an immediate help.
    thanks...

    Dear Muller,
    THanks your reply, As my test to generate new jheadstrat application again that using JHEADSTART10.1.2.2.32 release, the problem be solve! but I follow /install.html to migration our exist application that using JHEADSTART10.1.2., the problem cannot be solve after did all migration procedure , the problem whether can be solve using migration path on exist application?
    the following is my migration procedure:
    For upgrading from a previous JHeadstart 10.1.2.0.x build, apply the following steps:
    1. Apply the steps in section Installation in the existing JHeadstart 10.1.2 Home, overwriting the old JHeadstart 10.1.2.x files.
    2. For each JHeadstart project where you want to make it possible to run JHeadstart Application Generator with all the new features and fixes, perform the following steps:
    * Select all JHeadstart Generator Templates (*.jut files, *.jjt files, and *.jtp files) in the JDeveloper (ViewController) Project and choose File - Erase from Disk. If you customized one or more templates, you should re-apply the functional changes you made.
    * Select all JHeadstart generated files in [HTML Root]\common in the JDeveloper (ViewController) Project and choose File - Erase from Disk. If you customized one or more of these files, you should re-apply the functional changes you made.
    * In each Application Structure File, for each Lookup of type "lov", turn on the new Generation Switch "Generate LOV Page?"
    3. Other upgrade steps to perform for each JHeadstart project, to ensure that the new JHeadstart Runtime will work correctly:
    * Correct the link to the JHeadstart documentation in index.html. In previous builds, this link was incorrect. It should be * Re-enable JHeadstart on each (ViewController) JHeadstart project. Choose Overwrite All and Yes to All, unless you know you have customized images or other supported files other than web.xml or uix-config.xml. A backup will always be made of those two files. If you customized the uix-config.xml or web.xml file, you will have to re-apply the customizations.
    * If you don't generate the Struts-Config Service-level Entries anymore (a setting in the JHeadstart Application Structure File), you should manually add the processorClass attribute to the <controller> element of your struts-config.xml file(s) like this: <controller ... processorClass="oracle.jheadstart.controller.strutsadf.JhsRequestProcessor"/>
    * If you subclassed any JHeadstart runtime classes in your own Java classes, check the overridden methods to see if they have changed. You might need to change the way you override the JHeadstart behavior as well.
    Note that if you have overridden classes in JhsDataAction just to override default behavior of the JHeadstart BindingUtils or ReportingUtils classes, the new JhsDataAction has a much easier way to achieve that. Just override JhsDataAction.getBindingUtils() or JhsDataAction.getReportingUtils(), and make sure that it returns your own subclass of BindingUtils or ReportingUtils.
    For upgrading from a previous JHeadstart 10.1.2.x build, apply the following steps:
    1. Apply the steps in section Installation in the existing JHeadstart 10.1.2 Home, overwriting the old JHeadstart 10.1.2.x files.
    2. Re-enable JHeadstart on each (ViewController) JHeadstart project. Choose Overwrite All and Yes to All, unless you know you have customized images or other supported files other than web.xml or uix-config.xml. A backup will always be made of web.xml and uix-config.xml. If you customized the uix-config.xml or web.xml file, you will have to re-apply the customizations.

  • What is JHeadstart?  Can Forms be converted to JHeadstart applications?

    Is JHeadstart a part of Oracle Developer Suite? Can Designer 10g Release 2 generate JHeadstart applications?

    JHeadstart is not part of ODS. It is a separate consulting offering, see the FAQ on the JHeadstart Product center for more info:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/consulting/9iservices/jheadstart.html
    And yes, JHeadstart can generate ADF/JSF application from Designer metadata. See the Developers Guide (http://download.oracle.com/consulting/jhsdevguide1013.pdf), chapter 4 for more info.

  • Unable to read the dictionary of the application or extension...

    I had previously installed the HP Color LaserJet 3600 driver from the install CD under Tiger. I recently did an archive and install of Leopard, then ran all the system updates. (Currently at 10.5.5)
    When I insert the 3600 CD, though, I get a bunch of jibberish (parts of images, etc.) and a MAC OS X directory. The installer inside that directory attempts to be opened with Script Editor, though, and gives an error: "Unable to read the dictionary of the application or extension because it is not scriptable." followed by "The document 'HP Color LaserJet v5.6.1.069' could not be opened."
    Previously this would launch the HP installation program that would install the driver. Now, it's like it's not a recognized program or something. I downloaded the driver from the HP website to try it that way (clj3600MacOSX.dmg) with the same result. The .dmg file opens a disk image with the "HP Color LaserJet v.5.6.1.069" file in it...same result. Cannot open.
    I know this program ran fine under Tiger...and a co-worker got it to run after doing an upgrade to Leopard (instead of archive and install.)
    When I downloaded the HP 4300 installer dmg, it launches a .mpkg file and Get Info says it's set to open with "Installer (default)". The 3600 file, though is set to open with "Script Editor (default)". I've looked to set it to Installer, but don't know where it is...it's not in Applications or Utilities folder.
    I then right clicked on the installer file and selected "Show Package Contents". In the window that was displayed, there was a Contents folder. Inside that folder was a file called "HP Color LaserJet v5.6" with no file extension (Get Info doesn't show an extension either,) but it has a VISE logo. Opening that file launches the VISE installer and performs the setup.
    So, by jumping through hoops and getting lucky, I was able to install the driver.
    The bigger issue, though, is why the installation CD and/or .dmg file downloaded from HP's website cannot run the installer as usual...why are they set to open with Script Editor as the default application...and how can I fix it so that other disks won't have the same problem?
    [I originally posted this in the Printers forum, but it appears it's not a printing problem...it's an OS problem...]

    Installer.app is in /System/Library/CoreServices/

  • How to specify application by extension rather than mime type (e.g., docx as word, not xml)

    When I try to open a link to a file.docx or file.xlsx, FF sees it as an xml file and wants to open it in my default xml application. I can select Word or Excel (I have Office 2010 installed), but a) it doesn't remember that in the applications list, so I have to browse applications each time, or b) if I set it to always use that type, it tries to open docx in Excel or xlsx in Word, depending on last usage. How can I specify applications by file extension instead of seeing these as the same type of file?
    Thanks,
    Ian
    FF 15.0.1, Win 7, Office 2010

    I don't know if the source server sends the right mime type - it probably doesn't. In fact, now you mention it, I'm not sure I've tried this from any sites except one, which is the one giving me problems. I'll try contacting them about fixing their mime types. Assuming though that they can't or won't fix it, the question still remains - is it possible to set application by extension rather than by mime type?
    Yeah, I can definitely save it and open it, just trying to take the easiest possible route for a quick view.
    Thanks.

  • Patch set 3 of Application Server (version 10.1.2.3)

    All,
    I just got word that patch set 3 of Applications Server 10.1.2 (10.1.2.3) is now targeted for March 7th 2008.
    It includes support for MS Vista, both on the client and the builder.
    It does not include certification for Sun's plug-in version 1.6 though. It is targeted for the end of March currently.

    Let me explain, although I am sure Jan can clarify further if required when he comes on line.
    If for example, 10.1.2.3 came out on the 15 March (made up date) and we said that we have not yet completed our certification testing.
    Then between the 15th and the 30th March we run all our tests and everything passes (it can take a week or so to do the testing). Then on the 30th of March we can say "10.1.3.2 IS certified".
    So, we don't need to patch it, its just that we haven't completed all our certfication testing by the time the product is released.

    Grant

    Yes, this is a known issue. We will fix this for the next release.
    Having said that, the next release will contain the JHeadstart Forms2ADF generator which directly reads Oracle Forms .fmb files to ADF, without the need to use Oracle Designer, avoiding problems like this alltogether.

  • JHeadstart Designer Generator not in JHeadstart 10.1.3

    What is the reason that JHeadstart 10.1.3 does not include the JHeadstart Designer Generator (JDG)? Why is JDG in 10.1.3 under consideration? Are there any better alternatives to migrate Designer applications to JEE applications?
    Regards,
    Rik

    Rik,
    The reason is that the JDG uses the Adf Business Components Generator under the covers which is no longer supported in JDeveloper 10.1.3.
    See chapter 4 of the developers guide, which explains how you can use JDev 10.1.2 to do the migration, and then proceed with JDev 10.1.3 to generate the application. It's not ideal, but it works OK.
    For a more thorough discussion of forms migration and alternatives, see the last section s of this white paper:

  • "error occurred setting the server application active"

    Hi All,
    I found following error when I save outline in ASO application. It seems that the application cannot be started correctly. Other applications (BSO/ASO) are running correctly.
    "error occurred setting the server application active"

    try this:
    Issue can be from both server and application side:
    1)Addition of SERVERTHREADS with a proper value. When any database operation is requested then monitor the number of process, memory etc. Idea is to identify which process is trying to use max resource on server level.
    2) Also, if possible try and increase the ulimit setting to "unlimited".
    3) Verify NETDELAY and NETRETRYCOUNT -- Guess you have checked this so values should be fine here.
    4) If the environment is windows then:
    a)Open the Registry
    b)Navigate to Local Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters
    c)Add new DWORD Value named TcpTimedWaitDelay, right click and select Modify. Select decimal radio button, type in 30. (The default value of this parameter is 2 minutes. This is how long it will take for a TCP/IP port that was used by the network for a connection to be released and made available again. 30 sec is the minimum allowed by Microsoft)
    d)Add new DWORD Value named MaxUserPort, right click and select Modify. Select decimal radio button, type in 65534. (The default value is 5000. This determines the highest port number TCP can assign when an application requests an available user port from the system).
    e)Add new DWORD Value named MaxFreeTcbs, right click and select Modify. Select decimal radio button, type in 6250. (The default value is 2000. This determines the number of TCP control blocks (TCBs) the system creates to support active connections. Because each connection requires a control block, this value determines how many active connections TCP can support simultaneously. If all control blocks are used and more connection requests arrive, TCP can prematurely release connections in the TIME_WAIT state in order to free a control block for a new connection).
    f) Reboot the server.
    5) On application side, look at the cache settings, If they are very high then try lowering them and check.
    Cheers!!
    HA:-)

  • Work on New Part Review and Release (NPRR), a bolt-on system (extension)...

    hi.................
    i need to know detail information about this and need to generate RICE components....
    " Work on New Part Review and Release (NPRR), a bolt-on system (extension)..........
    Only after approval from NPRR, the item gets transferred to Oracle EBS..."
    Can u help me in this..............

    prices pricestamp = new prices();
    for(int c=0; c < stringtext.length-1; c+)
    mmm=stringtext[c];
    mmm=mmm.trim();
    ccc=mmm.split("\\s");
    pricestamp.time=Integer.parseInt(ccc[0]);
    pricestamp.price=Double.parseDouble(ccc[1]);
    data.add(pricestamp);
    }This is definitely wrong. You have only created one instance of pricestamp and you just keep overwriting it with new values. You need to put the new inside the loop to create a new instance for each row.
    Also I doubt you really mean .length - 1, that doesn't include the last row.
    Style wise:
    Class names should always start with capital letters, fields and variable always with lower case letters. These conventions aren't imposed by the compiler but are established practice, and make your code a lot easier to follow. Use "camel case" to divide you names into words e.g. priceStamp
    When using single letter names for integer indices people tend to expect i through n. This is a historical thing, dating back to FORTRAN.

  • HOW TO: Set up your application server to run BC4J

    How To set up your application server to run BC4J.
    INTRODUCTION
    A running BC4J application is actually the combination of:
    * Your own application files
    * BC4J runtime libraries
    In order to successfully run your BC4J application in local mode, the first requirement is
    that your application server contains the necessary BC4J libraries.
    This How To describes the steps required to ensure that you have a functional
    BC4J runtime environment installed on your application server.
    Oracle IAS 1.0.2 and Tomcat 3.1 will be used as examples.
    THE BC4J RUNTIME LIBRARIES
    Whatever application server you deploy to, the following libraries
    are required in the following order to be in the classpath.
    BC4J Libraries:
    xmlparserv2.jar
    jdev-rt.zip
    jbojdbcpatch.zip
    connectionmanager.zip
    jbohtml.zip
    jboimdomains.zip
    ordim817.zip
    ordvir817.zip
    ordhttp.zip
    jbomt.zip
    jbodomorcl.zip
    jboremote.zip
    jndi.jar
    jbodatum12.zip
    These libraries can be found in <JDEV_HOME>/lib/
    INSTALLING THE LIBRARIES ON IAS:
    Installing the libraries is simply a matter of copying them to the
    application server's filesystem and adding them to the classpath.
    IAS's classpath can be modified by editing the file:
    <IAS_HOME>\Apache\Jserv\conf\jserv.properties
    In this file you'll find the existing pre-installed BC4J libraries which
    looks like this:
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\lib\ordvir817.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\lib\ordim817.zip
    etc.
    Note! These BC4J libraries correspond to JDeveloper 3.1.1.
    In order to run JDev 3.2 based applications you will have to update these libraries
    to JDeveloper 3.2 production.
    Steps:
    1. Copy (or FTP) the JDev 3.2 BC4J libraries from <JDEV_HOME>\lib to a NEW directory on the
    appserver's filesystem called:
    <IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib
    2. Modify the classpath by editing <IAS_HOME>\Apache\Jserv\conf\jserv.properties.
    Example: (modified classpath entries)
    # New 3.2 BC4J Runtime libraries
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\xmlparserv2.jar
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\jdev-rt.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\jbojdbcpatch.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\connectionmanager.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\jbohtml.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\jboimdomains.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\ordim817.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\ordvir817.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\ordhttp.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\jbomt.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\jbodomorcl.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\jboremote.zip
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\jndi.jar
    wrapper.classpath=<IAS_HOME>\Apache\BC4J\newlib\jbodatum12.zip
    Note: Make sure to remove or comment out the existing 3.1.1 BC4J library entries!
    To see the changes, you must restart IAS and that's it, your IAS will be updated with
    the JDev 3.2 BC4J libraries which allow you to run BC4J Data Tags among other
    things!
    INSTALLING THE LIBRARIES ON TOMCAT
    As before, this process involves both the copying of the libraries
    and modifying the classpath.
    After copying the BC4J libraries to a path accessible from Tomcat,
    you can modify Tomcat's classpath by editing it's startup script:
    <TOMCAT_HOME>\bin\tomcat.bat (NT)
    <TOMCAT_HOME>\bin\tomcat.sh (Unix)
    Here is a portion of a modified tomcat.bat (on NT)
    rem Add BC4J libraries
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\xmlparserv2.jar
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\jdev-rt.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\jbojdbcpatch.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\connectionmanager.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\jbohtml.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\jboimdomains.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\or dim817.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\ordvir817.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\ordhttp.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\jbomt.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\jbodomorcl.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\jboremote.zip
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\jndi.jar
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\jbodatum12.zip
    rem Add Oracle JDBC library
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;D:\bc4j_lib\classes12.zip
    Note: I also added the Oracle JDBC library since Tomcat does not have it.
    It is found at:
    <JDEV_HOME>\jdbc\lib\oracle8.1.7\classes12.zip
    And That's It!
    When Tomcat is restarted using this script, the necessary BC4J libraries
    will be in the classpath..
    A follow up How To:"How To Deploy a BC4J JSP Application on IAS and Tomcat"
    will be posted shortly!

    I copied the following files in jserv classpath
    bc4jct.jar

    In the JDK 1.3 APi docs, i found that TimerTask was introduced only in JDK 1.3
    Does this mean that BC4J (in jdev 9031) will only work
    with JDK 1.3 or later?
    Thanks for your time.

    How to multiple/ parallel sets of books to generate more than one financial statement based on different (or the same) accounting principles.
    My Client needs Parallel Ledger in SAP B1 similar like SAP ECC. Is this functionality available ?

    Dear Mr. Nagrajan,
    Thank you for your response. I have already gone through documents but not able to understand. Is there any setup for this ? or its just work around i.e. using template and special field in JV i.e. Ref. 1 /2
    My doubts :
    I understand that Chart of Account structure is one and common for IFRS and other accounting method. We need to create only those account separately ( 2 times with prefix like IFRS revenue account, GAAP Revenue account).
    Now at time of entry, Assume some entries / adjustment are specifically for IFRS and not for other ledger. In this case, What need to do ?
    You have mentioned about DTW approach but do we need to insert all JV's again with other ledger ?
    Someone suggested that if any entry which are specific to IFRS Ledger, We need to user Ref.1 /2 column or Transcation code column and in which we can put IFRS
    Based on this, Need to create 2 seperate template for IFRS and other ledger for all report.
    This is my understanding of Solution in SAP B1. Please help me to clarify my though process
    Please do needful.If you have done implemenation and if you can share doucment, it would be great help.
