An XML element was malformed

Hi!
I got "An XML element was malformed" error and found the corresponding note 979583. It mentions that VC Flex client can not manage extremely large amount of data. I wonder if anybody knows how much is "extremely large" for VC?
Thanks for ideas,
--- Kaspars
P.S. In may example there was just table of 2 columns and 18 rows (each field max 40 chars) which was sent to & received from RFC function module ...
P.S.S. the strange thing was that with one user ID it didn't gave this error, but with another test user ID it did.

Hi!
I have the same problem and it happens each times I have a special char on an xml element.
In my case, this error started showing up just after the upgrade from the 7.1 to the 7.3.
I see it's a quite old thread, hope u found a solution

  • A communication error has occurred: An XML element was malformed

    Hi all,
    I have trasported an VC model to the production enviroment.  While executing it i am getting the error
    "A communication error has occurred: An XML element was malformed"
    When i search SDN i got to know the details from the Note 979583 as : its a  known limitation of Visual Composer, as the flex is unable to handle the large amount of data been fetched.
    Please let me know whether there is a work around to this problem.  Can this problem be resolved by using Visual composer 7.1 ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jeswin,
    Can you please check whether the alias you use in your DEV system is the same as you use in your PROD system? If not, you might also get this error.

  • A communication error has occurred:An XML element was malformed(call to SP)

    Hello experts,
    Visual Composer tells me in a pop up, that:
    "A communication error has occurred:An XML element was malformed"
    when it tries to call a Stored Procedure (SP). This is s.th. that happens only sporadically, i.e. I can trigger the SP many times and see that it executed correctly. Then, suddenly it doesn't work anymore, but when I keep clicking it starts working again after a while.
    I checked that nobody has opened or locked my model, because I read that this can cause this behaviour in another thread.
    What is the cause for this? What can I do?
    I'm looking forward to your replies and will reward with points,
    Sincerely,

  • "an XML element was malformed" error with anonymous user

    There is no problem with another user but with anonymous user  it gives "an XML element was malformed" error  when I want to select data from Oracle database using BI_JDBC in VC. I have done the user mapping for the anonymous user like  other users. I also give "read" and "end user" permissions for  anonymous user in the BI_JDBC connection. For other users, it works. What should I do to use BI_JDBC in VC with anonymous user.

    Hi Nihat,
    we currently facing the same issue, did you found the solution for this, or maybe a workaround for anonymous system access? Thanks for your help!

  • Error: XML element malformed in iView preview

    Hi all,
    I've got a problem with an iView in my EP.
    Everytime I open the preview of a Visual Composer iView I get a "Communication Error" which says "<b>An XML element was malformed</b>"
    Does anybody know what this means / how I can solve it ???
    Maybe it has sth. to do with the backend connection ???
    Thanks in advance,
    Marielle

    Hi Marielle,
    check the user permissions and the user mapping. It might be that your user has not the permission or the mapping is wrong. Have you opened the preview with the user, who has build the model? Or is it another user?
    You can also check in the system landscape, if the user has permissions on this system, if the system doesn't appear in the user mapping.

  • Hiding XML elements in the structure view – scripting influence to the structure view?

    Hi
    Is there a way to hide specific XML elements (really the elements and not the attributes) in the structure view?
    I am asking this question to know if it is possible to influence the structure view by scripting.
    Many elements are indeed used as a kind of help for constructions which have nothing to do with the actual contents especially in the case of tables.
    You inflate the the structure view unnecessarily and the author will lose track of the real contents. It would be nice if there was a possibility to hide those help construction elements.
    Thank you for any hints.
    Regards
    Apollo102

    Hello Apollo,
    There is a way to hide elements from the Structure View (one such method is offered by the free AXCM plug-in). What happens when you use AXCM (or other methods to hide elements) is that the elements get wrapped into hidden content. This might make the structure view less complex for your authors, but has a number of disadvantages and dangers.
    1. The structure is normally invalidated, as the helper elements are usually required.
    2. Accidentally deleting hidden content may make the invalidation permanent and render your documents useless.
    It is NOT good practice to hide elements from authors in the structure view. Instead, you should either teach authors about the structure, or let them work in the Author View while adding sufficiently clear formatting to show them the underlying structure. In some cases, it might be better to create an authoring structure which is automatically transformed into the required full structure using an XSLT or other processing step. I have created a couple of such environments and they work fine. It just depends on the difference between the structure required for further processing and the structure that would be optimal for your authors (which in turn depends on the level at which your authors are experienced in working with structured content).
    I hope this helps you solve your problem without having to tweak the structure view.
    Kind regards
    Jang

  • Remove xml element using JS[CS3]

    Hi, I have an xml structure where i want to remove some paritcular element named "extlink".
    I do have one script with me but it doesn't wipe out all specific xml element from structure.
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var foundtext = 0
    Query_Remove (myDoc);
    alert ("You have removed " + foundtext + " " +" Link !!")
    exit (0);
    function Query_Remove(elm)
    try
    for(var i=elm.xmlElements.length-1; i>=0; i--)
         if((elm.xmlElements[i].markupTag.name == "extlink") && (elm.xmlElements[i].xmlElements[0].markupTag.name == "http"))
        var Store_CitAttri = elm.xmlElements[i].xmlElements[0].xmlAttributes.item("c_style").value;
         if(Store_CitAttri == "URL")
          elm.xmlElements[i].remove();
         foundtext = foundtext + 1;
       Query_Remove(elm.xmlElements[i]);
    catch (e){
    Some time it skip the element from all figure captions and some time from body text and some time it works perfectly
    Could any one figure it out why this script behaviour is not consistent as i am new to scripting and not getting any idea about this.
    Thanks
    Mac

    Okay, after peering over your code and trying a few things out I see one immediate problem and one possible improvement.
    The problem lies in this:
    1. if condition is true, remove item
    2. check recursively
    The problem is .. if an item is removed, the following recursive check will always fail. However, the entire loop is wrapped into a try..catch, so InDesign will not alert you that it failed. Instead, it will continue with what's after the loop, exactly because the try..catch is around the entire loop!
    Change the loop code to this
    if((elm.xmlElements[i].markupTag.name == "http") && (elm.xmlElements[i].parent.markupTag.name == "extlink"))
        var Store_CitAttri = elm.xmlElements[i].xmlAttributes.item("c_style").value;
        if(Store_CitAttri == "URL")
          elm.xmlElements[i].remove();
           foundtext = foundtext + 1;
           continue;
    Query_Remove(elm.xmlElements[i]);
    so the recursive checking is skipped. You can also remove the entire try..catch block, as this may hide additional errors ...
    The improvement is: as I started reading this thread from the top again, shouldn't you be removing the "extlink" items, rather than just the "http" ones inside?
    If so, remove the parent of the found item (which is always the "extlink"):
          elm.xmlElements[i].parent.remove();
    -- and, as this will break the loop (because you just removed the set of elements it was working in!), replace 'continue' with 'return'.
    Hope this helps

  • Howto use Converting File Content in Rec. Adapt. to suppress a xml-element

    Hi,
    we use PI/700, SP6.
    I have following structure (example):
    <MsgOut>
      <Sender>Partner1</Sender>
      <Receiver>Partner2</Receiver>
      <FlatPayload>
         blabla blabla
      </FlatPayload>
    </Msgout>
    Now I wanna use a XI-File-Adapter to write just a Flat-File with the content (of the element <FlatPayload>):
        blabla blabla
    (in other words: I wanna suppress all other xml-elements beside of FlatPayload)
    But I'm not able to configurate this with the function "Converting File Content"
    I tried different possiblities:
    e.g.
    setting yyy.fieldFixedLengths = 0 and yyy.fixedLengthTooShortHandling = Cut
    (yyy = Sender and Receiver)
    or
    just defining "MsgOut,FlatPayload" as RecordSet Structure (without Sender and Receiver)
    Result: no success.
    Now my question: is it possible to suppress some xml-elements?
    Thanks for your help!
    bye
    Wolfgang

    HI,
    You can suppress the XML Nodes/Elements over here. Not Fields ..
    For e.g if your outout xml is like this
    <MsgOut>
        <Sender>Partner1</Sender>
        <Receiver>Partner2</Receiver>
    <FlatPayload>
       <flatdata> blabla blabla</flatdatat>
    </FlatPayload>
    </Msgout>
    In this case you can suppress the <FlatPayload> node/element here.. Using Cut Parameter in the Receiver File Content COnversion.
    /people/sravya.talanki2/blog/2005/08/11/solution-to-the-problem-encountered-using-variable-substitution-with-xi-sp12
    So in your case, you can restructure your data type as you required.. I have mentioned in vice-versa here
    Hope this helps,

  • JMS Queue XML: Elements with same name

    Hi
    I notice that ODI does not do a good job of reverse-engineering JMS queue models where an element name is referenced in different parts of the schema.
    For example:
    root
    ..body
    ...consignment
    ....load
    .....event
    ....unload
    .....event
    etc
    In the above, ODI will reverse-engineer the 'event' element under 'load', but not the one under 'unload'.
    I don't have control over the xsd models and was therefore wondering if there is some sort of workaround I can perform in this scenario?
    Cheers

    Actually, I just found the following Oracle note sums this up: 757642.1
    Is it possible to use the SAME ELEMENT as a SUB-ELEMENT in multiple DIFFERENT Elements of an XML File?
    If so, what is the impact of this approach on the reverse engineered Model and Datastores and how can Integration Interfaces be set up to map these identical ELEMENT for which the content is semantically different and as a result to be used differently in different Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Integration Interfaces.
    The following XML is a simple example in which the ITEM Element is logically set as a sub-element to three other XML Elements:
    •Shoppinglist
    •GroceryStore
    •HardwareStore
    <Shoppinglist>
    <Item>ShoppingList</Item>
    <GroceryStore>
    <Item>Eggs</Item>
    <Item>Milk</Item>
    <Item>Bread</Item>
    </GroceryStore>
    <HardwareStore>
    <Item>Screwdriver</Item>
    <Item>Hammer</Item>
    <Item>Nails</Item>
    </HardwareStore>
    </Shoppinglist>Solution
    Such an approach must be avoided. This is a strict limitation of the ODI XML Driver.
    See Bug:8563428 DUPLICATE SUBELEMENTS WITH DIFFERETNT TYPES ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY XML DRIVER

  • Selecting the content of XML element CS3(JS)

    Hi
    I am trying to select the whole content of XML Element.
    I am trying like this
    app.activeDocument.xmlElements[i].select();
    But it is not working.
    Regards
    Suresh

    A few hints:
    Perhaps your variable
    i i
    is not defined. If that's the case, give up trying to write code for this complicated job! XML is not the easiest part of ID to begin with. Starting with uninitialized variables and flagging that as an error (and complaining about that in a forum) is a beginners' blunder.
    If I run your script line with i set to 0, the first element of my XML structure is selected. I can see with my own eyes it works, because I have the XML Structure pane in ID open. If I click on the 2nd element there and run your script line, the top (= 0th) element is selected. Perhaps you didn't open the XML Structure view so you did not see it worked after all. Or perhaps you expected something
    i else
    to be selected -- the text content, maybe -- so you tag it as "error". That's a misinterpretation of what the XmlElement object is. Understandable, but still not an error. You can have lots of XmlElements without any text or other object associated. If it was your intention to select whatever the xml element contains, try working with the property 'xmlContent'. From its description I gather that sort-of does this alternative interpretation, i.e., you can select the
    i text
    which is pointed to by the element. Untried. But do read on.
    If I run your script with i = 1, I
    i do
    get an error, and it's perfectly valid too! "Object is invalid" -- well, of course it is. There is no other XML element at that level. An app.document.xmlelements entry always points to the
    i root
    of the XML, and you can only have one. Perhaps you expected #1 to be the next sub-element. Well, not so in the ID implementation -- as usual for almost all XML based structures, it's a tree. The "next" element is xmlElements[0].xmlElements[0], which you can check by changing your line to
    >app.activeDocument.xmlElements[0].xmlElements[0].select();
    and verifying the 2nd element from the top is selected in the XML Structure view.

    I would like something that for example
    unmarshall car -->remove(speed); ....-->marshall car
    would result into:
    <car>
    <owner>me</owner>
    </car>
    could someone point out a way to do that ?
    thanks in advance...

    Change the loop code to this
    if((elm.xmlElements[i].markupTag.name == "http") && (elm.xmlElements[i].parent.markupTag.name == "extlink"))
        var Store_CitAttri = elm.xmlElements[i].xmlAttributes.item("c_style").value;
        if(Store_CitAttri == "URL")
          elm.xmlElements[i].remove();
           foundtext = foundtext + 1;
           continue;
    Query_Remove(elm.xmlElements[i]);
    so the recursive checking is skipped. You can also remove the entire try..catch block, as this may hide additional errors ...
    The improvement is: as I started reading this thread from the top again, shouldn't you be removing the "extlink" items, rather than just the "http" ones inside?
    If so, remove the parent of the found item (which is always the "extlink"):
          elm.xmlElements[i].parent.remove();
    -- and, as this will break the loop (because you just removed the set of elements it was working in!), replace 'continue' with 'return'.
    Hope this helps

  • Cannot transform Java to XML - nested XML elements are empty

    Hi,
    We're using WLI 9.2.1 and in one of our JPDs we're invoking a transformation control that is supposed to do Java -> XML transform. The XQuery for this gets written and works when tested independently within Workshop.
    However, wehn we run the JPD, the transformation is not completely successful. What we find is that attributes values that go into top-level XML elements are populated from the Java object. The nested elements are NOT populated and show up as empty.
    Q: Is this s limitation in WLI 9.2?
    Googling turned up this reference:
    XMLBeans APIs Not Supported for Local Element and Complex Type Variables Produced by XQuery
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wli/docs85/relnotes/relnotesLimit.html#1375310
    http://edocs.bea.com/wli/docs81/relnotes/relnotesLimit.html#1226313
    Q: Is this the problem we are seeing?
    Q: If yes, any ideas if this CR138983 fixed in WLI 9.2? (it is open in 8.1, 8.5).
    Any pointers will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Exception in assigning XML elements value in Workshop

    Hi ,
    I tried creating a variable of type XML object(OrderREsponse). I have one MB Publisher control which sends in a variable of type OrderResponse. Before sending it , I try setting the individual XML elements value in it. So, for all the individual elemtns , I set accordinglly in both the formats.
    responseXML.addNewOrderResponse().setOrderNumber("N12121212");
    responseXML.getOrderResponse().setOrderNumber("N12121212");
    where responseXML is a variable of type OrderResponse document.
    This place while executing I'm getting an exception.
    Here is the exception I'm getting.
    <Jan 4, 2005 10:51:11 AM MST> <Warning> <WLW> <000000> <Id=top-level; Method=com.bea.wli.bpm.runtime.ProcessState.processNodeOrchestration()
    ; Failure=com.bea.wli.bpm.runtime.UnhandledProcessException: Unhandled process exception [ServiceException]>
    <Jan 4, 2005 10:51:12 AM MST> <Warning> <WLW> <000000> <A message was unable to be delivered from a WLW Message Queue. Attempting to deliver
    the onAsyncFailure event>
    Let me know if the approach is the right one... or how can i set the individual XML elements value from a XML variable.
    Thanks
