• How to see Shared Members in Smart View on Ad-hoc Analysis mode

Hi All,
We are using Hyperion Planning v 11.1.1.3.
For the alternate hierarchy we have created shared members. But in Smart View we are unable to see Shared members hierarchy in Ad-hoc analysis mode.
Is this limitation in Hyperion Planning?
Or
Is there any way to see shared members Hierarchy in Smart View in Ad-hoc analysis mode?
It is urgent requirement Please let me know as early as possible
Thanks in Advance!!!

When you say open data form in Ad-hoc mode, can you do that? I think when you select Ad-hoc mode, you are basically connecting to Essbase and therefore need to manually select the members. (of course, I've got a 11.1.2 env right now so not too sure of 11.1.1.3)
I'm able to just go to Member Selection and select whatever hierarchy i want, Shared or Stored, when I'm connected to Essbase. When connecting to Planning, I dont have any option of opening the form as Ad-hoc mode.
Can you see the hierarchy if selecting the members using Essbase connection and not planning?
Cheers,
Abhishek

• SAP GRC 10.0 Risk Management - Forecasting Horizon Scoring Analysis Mode

Hi everyone,
In SAP GRC 10.0 Risk Management Support Package 7, we need to assess a corporate risk by performing an automatic analysis aggregation based on a scoring analysis profile.
The problem is that corporate risks must be created based on a forecasting horizon.
So, can we create forecasting horizons with scoring analysis mode? How? Must be enabled through customizing or applying a SAP note?
Best Regards,
Chema Traveso

Hi,
I think this is still user-specific, as it was in 5.X. I have checked the new GRC authorisation object parameters delivered within the roles and also tried to see if a Admin user was able to see all the variants created by the different users, but so far I have not found a solution.
It may be worthwhile to raise this in "IdeaPlace", hoping it gets enough votes and SAP's attention for implementing in a future Support Pack delivery.

• Does "SSAUDIT" works for Smartview update in "Ad-hoc analysis" mode?

Dear guru,
Would like to know if "SSAUDIT" works for Smartview update in "Ad-hoc analysis" mode?
The requirement is that we would like to know which user and when they have updated the application by submit data with some pre-defined smartview worksheets (in ad-hoc analysis mode).
Seems there's SSAUDIT function for logging spreadsheet update, but it's seems to be developed for Essbase add-in and it says in help -
SSAUDIT is not available when using Free-Form reporting in Excel Spreadsheet Add-in.
Free-form reportin (essbase add-in) = Ad-hoc analysis (Smartview)?
We are on version 9.3.1.3
Thanks & best regards,
Annie

Looks like it does work with SmartView per the John's:
http://cn.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1007130
And here's Glenn saying that it works. Of course he also says, "Never trust what people tell you or even what you read." So maybe a test on your part might be a good idea. See: http://glennschwartzbergs-essbase-blog.blogspot.com/2010/06/never-listen-to-what-people-tell-you-me.html

• Data is analysis mode is oscillating, but not in aquisition mode

Hi,
I'm having data acquisition problems using BioBench 1.2. I'm using pressure transducers hooked up to a PC1-M10-16XE-50 DAQ. When logging data, the pressure shown on the Biobench screen when acquiring matches the numbers on the transducer amplifiers, but when I go to the analysis screen, the numbers are oscillating from 5 to 50, even if the amplifiers are reading 15. None of the data matches. I'm not sure if this is a software or hardware problem. Any ideas?

Do you have Measurement and Automation explorer on your machine? Are you using Traditional NI-DAQ device drivers or are you using NI-DAQmx drivers? A good way to isolate the device hardware from the software would be to try to acquire data in Measurement and Automation Explorer and see if we get good data from there. If the data is good than that means the hardware is in good shape, and it is a software issue.
Please follow the following link to see how to use test panels in Measurement and Automation Explorer to verify that your device hardware is working well.

My other question for you is when was the last time you calibrated this device. This device has a one-year calibration cycle and so it could be useful to get your device calibrated. If you are interested in learning more about calibration lpease visit www.ni.com/calibration

• Deactivating Design Mode

Hi All
How can we deactivate the design mode in new Bex Analyzer so that user cannot make any changes to report opened in Bex Analyzer.
Thanks
sam

Only way is via Password Protection.
In design mode, worksheets are protected by default to prevent you from unintentionally deleting design items. Temporarily disable sheet protection (Tools Protection Unprotect Sheet on Microsoft Excel’s menu) or switch to analysis mode before formatting your workbook.

• Is there a way to have the Filters in Analysis be ignored when rpt is run?

When i'm creating/testing a new report in the Analysis in OBIEE (11g ver), i'm generating some charts and graphs in a potential report which sift through large amounts of data. But when i'm creating/editting, i just want to filter on something specific so when i return to the analysis, its quick. However, when i launch the report in the dashboard, i dont want that filter being applied -- i want the prompts i've set to do all the filtering. And as i return to the analysis mode, my filter would be there still and applied so i don't have to wait long for it to render. Is there a way to have the Filters in the analysis be ignored when the report is run in the Dashboard or run outside of being in the analysis mode?

As far as I have experience working with OBIEE. Any filters you create in reports inline are overwritten by filters in the dashboard prompt, if they created with the same columns and presentation tables. To stop this behavior, there is an option to mark your inline report filter as Protected, so it won't be overwritten. You should try though.

• Unable to perform Ad Hoc Analysis through a webform in 11.1.2

Hi,
When I open a webform in SmartView I'm not able to click on "Analyse" in order to switch to Ad Hoc analysis mode whereas I'm able to do it via the web interface.
(Please note that the option "enable for adhoc" is selected)
Is there any additionnal step to make it work?
Thanks,
Laure

Hi Laure,
A few things to check:
Can you try open the web form in ad hoc for ad hoc by right clicking the form in the Data Source Manager, Select Ad Hoc?
Ensure the form is enabled for ad hoc.
When you set up Planning & Smartview the first time, the 'default' server for planning will have ad hoc disabled. Try re-adding the server to the Shared Connections - it should add with ad hoc enabled.

• Alternate colors for Analysis grid in workbook

hi all,

Hi,
For Apply Formatting :
Deselect this checkbox to switch off the display of formatting, including icons and background color. Displaying formatting during navigation can be time consuming. You may therefore want to switch if off for performance reasons. An example is if you are navigating to achieve a result that you want to export to a text-based file.Scroll bars and scrolling icons are not affected by this setting.
SAP Notes:
Customizing Default Workbooks
You can format a workbook using all the Microsoft Excel functions. The following options are available, for example:
● Add a background graphic to the worksheet
● Add additional worksheets with design items or charts
● Embed a VBA macro that allows you to easily access the BEx Analyzer object model to enhance your workbook with BEx-specific custom VBA code
● Format cells outside of design items with text, borders, and colors
● Add a logo to a particular cell (outside the range of a design item)
You can also format a workbook using the BEx Analyzer design functions:
● Add or remove design items that you want to display by default
● Change the locations of design items
● Apply a BEx theme (see Workbook Settings)
Cells belonging to design items themselves use a standard formatting. Using Microsoft Excel functions, you can manually format these cells in analysis mode. For example, you can select a row of results in the analysis grid and set the text to bold. However, when you refresh the query, the standard formatting for the query cells is restored and the settings for these cells are lost.
You can permanently format design item cells in two ways:
● Using BEx themes, you can select different formatting themes, including formatting for design items. See Workbook Settings
● With certain types of queries, you can work in formula mode, which gives you complete freedom to format the cells as required. See Working in Formula Mode.
For example, your current default workbook consists of a background graphic and the Navigation Pane and Analysis Grid design items. You work with different queries in which exceptions were defined. You want to be able to display exceptions easily when you open queries in the BEx Analyzer. You want to display a background graphic that contains an exception alert symbol. You proceed as follows:
● Create a new blank workbook using Microsoft Excel function New.
● In analysis mode in the BEx Analyzer, choose Format ® Sheet ® Background in the Microsoft Excel menu, and select a different background graphic.
● Use the BEx Analyzer design toolbar to insert a List of Exceptions design item. If you were not already connected to a system, you are prompted to connect now.
● Insert an Analysis Grid design item to display the query results.
● Choose Save ® Save Workbook As in the analysis toolbar, and save the workbook to the server.
● Close the workbook.
● Choose Open ® Open Workbook and open the workbook from the server. This is a prerequisite to be able to define workbooks as default workbooks.
● In the analysis toolbar, choose Global Settings, and in the Current Default Workbook section, choose Use Current. Your customized workbook is now the default workbook.
● Choose Open ® Open Query and select a query.
Your query now opens in the workbook you have defined as the default. The Exception design item is already embedded in your workbook and your custom background graphic is displayed
Themes
BEx themes, based on NetWeaver Portal styles, are shared services across the Business Explorer suite. In the BEx Analyzer, they are delivered as a set of Microsoft Excel style definitions for your workbook. Themes provide formatting information such as background color, font, and font size. To display the set of style definitions for a workbook, choose Format ® Style from the Microsoft Excel menu. The styles provided by the Business Explorer are prefixed with SAPBEX*.
Themes are content objects that are stored on the server and that you can choose to activate. Themes are stylesheets in which you can make important changes to a theme. All workbooks in which the theme is used are updated accordingly.
The following settings are available on the Themes tab page:
Current Theme
The list of available BEx themes is displayed. The BEx theme that is currently applied to your workbook, if any, is selected.
New/Delete/Apply/Save
If the following special authorization is assigned to your user name, you can change and save themes on the server: AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT 'S_RS_TOOLS' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD 'THEMES'.
If you have this authorization, these buttons appear:
● Create a new theme by choosing New.
● Select a theme from the Current Theme list, and choose Delete to delete it. This deletes your theme locally.
● Select a theme from the Current Theme list, and choose Apply to apply currently configured styles to it. When you do this, the BEx Analyzer reads the Microsoft Excel style definitions of all the styles in the workbook that are prefixed with SAPBEX* and stores them in the selected theme. This allows you to edit the styles in Microsoft Excel and then create a theme with these customized styles.
● To save all the themes to the server, choose Save.
Reapply Theme Before Rendering
Since BEx themes are saved on the server, they can be changed on the back end. Select this indicator if you want to retrieve the most up-to-date definition of the style from the server and apply it again.
Apply New Styles
Select this indicator to update the current workbook with any style that has been added to the theme on the server since the theme was originally applied. If, for example, new styles have been added to a theme during a patch release, you can retrieve them from the server with this option.
Do Not Use a Theme
Select this indicator to stop using the selected theme in your workbook.

stimulating

1. Is it possible to generate sine, step, ramp and arbitrary waveforms
using
this particular card?
2. Ifso what is the range of frequencies that can be possible to
generate
using
PCI 4551 card?( we may require from 1mHz to 2kHZ)
3. And what is the maximum amplitude of the generated signal for full
scale
value?
4. Whether real-time octave analysis for NI DSA software can serve the
purpose
of following tests: Frequency response test, Step response test,
Velocity
test,
Strain Measurement, Linearity Test, Cyclic test.
Or any other software tool is required?
Regards,
Sreedhar T

Hi SreedharT,
In response to your questions, I've included my responses. I highly advise referencing the NI-4551 User Manual for more details.
1. Is it possible to generate sine, step, ramp and arbitrary waveforms
using this particular card?
NI-DSA includes functions to generate standard white noise, pink noise, band-limited noise, periodic white noise, single or dual-tone sine, and chirp signals. For step, ramp, and any other arbitrary waveforms you can use NI-DSA to define and generate an arbitrary analog output signal.
There is a good example which ships with NI-DSA that demonstrates how to generate arbitrary waveforms on the NI-4551. You can find this example in the NI-DSA function palette in LabVIEW under Application Examples>>Advanced>>Arbitrary Output Example.
By default, this example outputs a swept sine wave, but you can change the waveform to whatever you need.
2. If so, what is the range of frequencies that can be possible to
generate using PCI 4551 card?( we may require from 1mHz to 2kHZ)
The maximum output frequency you can generate with NI-DSA is 23 kHz. This limit is governed by the maximum output sampling rate of 51.2 kS/s. Because the digital-to-analog converters on the NI 455x DSA devices feature sharp roll-off, anti-imaging filters, you can generate a spectrally pure sine tone up to 23 kHz with minimal quantization noise, so when using the NI 455x devices, you do not need to worry about the output signal becoming choppy or noisy when approaching the Nyquist frequency.
The minimum frequency you can set is 0.1 Hz. This is limited by the finite size of the output buffer and the minimum update rate for the DAC. The output buffer is limited to 4,096 samples, and the DAC must maintain a minimum rate of 1.25kS/s for accurate results.
In Octave Analyzer Mode, when you're inputting a certain frequency, keep in mind the input range differs for each analysis type and the two configurable center frequencies. I've included the frequency ranges for a single channel below.
1/1-octave analysis
center frequency fs=25.6 kHz:
High: 8 kHz
Low: 16 Hz
fs=51.2 kHz
High: 16 kHz
Low: 31.5 Hz
1/3-octave analysis
fs=25.6 kHz
High: 10 kHz
Low 12.5 Hz
fs=51.2 kHz
High: 20 kHz
Low: 25 Hz
1/12-octave analysis
fs=25.6 kHz
High: 10.68 kHz
Low: 11.05 Hz
fs=51.2 kHz
High: 5.34 kHz
Low: 5.52 Hz
3. And what is the maximum amplitude of the generated signal for full
scale value?
The maximum amplitude is equal to the voltage range for the selected output channel.
4. Whether real-time octave analysis for NI DSA software can serve the
purpose of following tests: Frequency response test, Step response test,
Velocity test, Strain Measurement, Linearity Test, Cyclic test.
Or any other software tool is required?
The NI-DSA Real-Time Octave Analysis software add-on for NI-DSA supports fractional-octave analysis for 1/1, 1/3, and 1/12 octave analysis, level measurements, and A-, B-, and C-weighting. You can do octave, level, or both octave and level measurements, and have the additional option of specifying the weighting if required. This is all that can be done in real-time.
To perform a frequency response test, it is preferable to use the swept-sine analysis mode of the NI-4551 rather than a broadband FFT-based frequency response. Swept-sine analysis provides two main advantages over a broadband frequency response measurement in which all frequencies are excited and measured simultaneously. The first is a wider dynamic range. The second is flexible measurements of signal distortion and nonlinearity. For more information of swept-sine analysis, please refer to the NI-DSA Software Manual downloadable off our web site. http://www.ni.com/
For the Velocity test, Strain Measurement, Linearity Test, and Cyclic Test I should ask for more information about each test before attempting an answer. However, to answer your question, there are no methods I know of in NI-DSA that would directly perform these tests. In contrast with that answer, you may be surprised this functionality may be included with a LabVIEW development environment.
Let me know if you have further questions or this does not resolve your issue!

• Key Figure Sorting in Workbook

Hi Experts,
I am creating a workbook where the key figures are supposed to be sorted in descending order. I tried using a Condition the displays the Top 100% of the results (because I want to display all, I just want to sort). The condition is working fine during the first run. However, when I save the workbook and re-open it again, the sort does not work anymore. Please advise. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Juice

Hi Juice,
Why dont you use the key figure sorting property present in the the Bex Analyzer.?
Steps:
1. In analysis mode, select a key figure cell in the analysis grid and access the context menu. This can be done in 2 ways..
○ Choose the cell with your right mouse button (secondary mouse button).
○ From the menu, choose BEx Analyzer --> Context Menu for Selected Cell
2. Choose Properties.
The properties dialog box for the selected key figure appears.
On the Sorting tab, you can configure the different sort options for the selected key figure.
Hope this helps you!

• Adding a Default value to the Filter in a Workbook

Hi,
I have created a workbook in BI 7.0. In the Filter, for a variable its displaying '#' as default value, but i want to display one of my variable values there.
I added this value in the 'Default values' tab of the variable in the Query Designer. After saving the query, i went to workbook, clicked on the Filter button, changed to design mode, clicked on the Filter pane, assigned the query as the Infoprovider& saved the workbook. But still i am getting the '#' in my Filter.
I closed the workbook, opened it again & refreshed it but still i couldnt see the variable i added. Am i missing any other thing? Please guide me. Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Murali

Hi,
adding a value as default value for a variable is only relevant for the selection screen.
If u want to define # in the navigation pane u can do that there and save the workbook.
Then # is saved as filter on workbook lvl, but its changeable by the user.
Hint: In analysis mode disable "initial query view on refresh" in dataprovider settings of the analysis grid.
