Invalid report xml is the error I get when I try to pull up an Analyzer report upgraded from version 6.1 to 7.2, thanks, James

Read, Modify and Apply Report XML using Java Script

Requirement ::
Users should be able to add Column to the Report Dynamically at Runtime.
(There are around 1000+ Users, Answers Approach is not acceptable)
So we are planning to provide a Multi Select / Shuttle Box Option for Users to add Columns dynamically. (Only for Table View)
What we planned to DO ::
Create a Presentation Variable Prompt, Which reads the Metadata Table (Presentation Table.Column Name, populated using the Metadata Dictionary)
And Create a report with One Column and the Column Fx like @{var_dynamic_columns}{'"Time"."Year","Time"."Month"'}
With this, OBIEE is rewriting the Logical SQL Currently as "Select "Time"."Year","Time"."Month" from "A - Sample Sales" "
But getting an error
The number of columns returned in retrieving column metadata was invalid (expected: 1; received: 2)
So we want to see, if we can rewrite the Advanced XML of the Report to have dynamic columns based on the Values from the Presentation Variable.
Please help me if this is a viable solution or any other better solution.

Error "Invalid Report Object" when running any CR

Hi, I have installed BO XI V3.1 and upgraded to 1.4 level.
However when logged into the infoview app, if i browse to any 2008 report i have uploaded into the enterprise system and double click to run i get the error "Invalid Report Object".
This is also true if i try to run any report in the Public Folders \ Report Samples folder.
Nothing will display for me but they run fine in CR 2008, just not via the web tool.
Any help on this will be much appreciated.

Is this issue after you have upgraded to 1.4 or was this issue occurring before?
Since the reports are running properly in the designer please try to do following steps:-
1) Open the report in the designer which is not working in enterprise
2) Refresh the report in CR designer
3) Save the report back to the enterprise and make sure save with data is checked.
4) Now open the report in the Enterprise and check it works or not.
The reason of doing this is that to generate new PID's for the reports if after the upgrade the PID's have changed or has became corrupt.

@trevorbutler - Could you send us what version of Ant you're using and a sample of how you're using the <junit> Ant task? Additionally, can you validate that the example you gave for the JUnit output is from the <junit> Ant task and not the <junitreport> task? Could you also let us know which version of JUnit you used with Ant, just in case?
FWIW - The XML output that you see from running tests in JUnit via the <junit> Ant task is output that has been defined without specification by the folks at Apache Ant. There has been a lot of discussion on standardizing the output amongst the folks at TestNG, the Maven Surefire plugin and others, but I haven't seen anything standardized come out of that. Here is a wiki page that has some of that discussion http://wiki.apache.org/ant/Proposals/EnhancedTestReports. t's also important to note, that the aggregate results of the <junitreport> task contain a slight variation on the output produced by the <junit> task. Consequently, we have to emulate the lowest common denominator that we know will work with the tools out there that parse the XML output associated with an xUnit framework (e.g. - Ant tasks, CI server, etc). This being said, we rely on the community to keep us up to date with variations that we may have missed or for which need to update. It's not so much that we've decided to exclude any particular elements from the output, we just need help fine tuning as time goes on.

Problem setting ADF BC Conneciton. Error Invalid connections.xml

I need to do some enhancement on an existing ADF Based project so I got the project source code
from Source Control.
But when I am trying to define a Database Connection on my Application Resources>Connections->New Connection->Database
I am encountering below error.
oracle.adf.rc.exception.CatalogException: Invalid connections.xml.I wanted to change the ADFBC connections also by right clicking the project and then choosing properties.
When I try to add a Database Connection nothing is happening. CLicking the OK button does not do anything?

Anyone using TAW/custom/report.xml or custom.xml

Oracle's out of the box configuration for the custom.xml and report.xml appears to be commented out and has no bearing on the TAW application default functionality.
Is custom.xml for some type of third party integration?
Is report.xml for third party reporting or required for TAW reporting?


We too have a similar situation.
In one of our .Net base product, we have to retreive Production Order details of a specific Order Number using .net connector and BAPIs. Our search for a BAPI that can provide this information did not yield any results.
Does any know if there is a BAPI that can return the Production Order details? or, Can confirm for sure that a BAPI does not exist?
I am also surprised at the BAPIs available for Production Order. Getting order details seems a rather basic functionality and one would expect it to be there. I wonder why SAP does not provide it, while it has BAPIs for creating order and other opertaions. Did they miss out on this fundamental api? or has it been provided through a different BAPI?
We would prefer the BAPI route as it is simpler and eliminates a lot of the process involved in getting the ABAP code (custom function module) to be moved into production. Writing custom function module to retreive the details is our very last option.

Problem in Loading - Invalid Report File Path

Im using CR which came as a bundle with VS2005. I deployed my ASP.NET project on online server. Sometimes, When users try to load the reports, they got an error says "Invalid Report File Path" appears at the top of the report, and no data shown. If i reset the IIS, it return to work fine again.
Usually i got this error when there is a lot of hits on the server and reports..
Can you plz advice on that???

The formula must always return some value. When a conditional test produces no result and this code is responsible for the RETURN in a formula, the error occurs. Make sure that the condition returns a value in all cases (trap errors).
Example:
Problem code

If deptno is not 10 , this does not return any value .
Correct code
You can write the function as:

FR error: *Error: invalid report object*

When we run the report we are getting error "*Error: invalid report object*. It is for one specific entity at the base level for some user's. Other user's can able to view the data at that leve. All the user's have same level of access. can someone help......

You are most likely getting this error because you have a report object trying to reference a value out of a datagrid or a POV that doesn't have any data for the given entity.
When you run it for an entity with data in the grid, everything works great. When you run it for an entity with no data, the datagrid essentially doesn't exist and references to it will fail with the error you have shown.
A good example of this is when you have a header and you pull parts of the header from a grid such as showing the scenario, etc. To do this you reference a row (or column) from the datagrid, etc.....

I'm saving my report in the reports path. <oracle_home>/reports/printer
which is in the report_path of regedit.

Invalid Report File Path Error

I have included several Crystal Reports as embedded resources in a Visual Studio 2010 C# project. When I try to run the application on a client PC I receive an invalid report file path error. Why am I receiving this error if the rpt is embedded in the manifest?

The following code now works on my development machine. It obtains the server name and database name from the configuration file. When I run on my client PC, however, it prompts me to log into the database. It provides the correct server name but the database name is blank and integrated security is not checked. The database name field is not enabled so I cannot provide a value.

Invalid Report File - Embedded Report - VS2010 C#

I'm trying to implement Crystal Reports in my first c# application. I've created the report. It is set an embedded report. I'm calling crReportDocument.loadd("reportname.rpt:). When I call the report, I'm getting an error message that states "Invalid report file path."
I have also tried using application.startupPath + "
reportname.rpt", trying to define my report.
Sort of stuck here.
Any Suggestions?

Hi Billy,
Where are you seeing this error? On your development machine while testing your application in debug mode? Or are you seeing the error after deploying the application. Also, when you say the report was embedded do you mean that you added your RPT file to the project?
If you're seeing the error on your development machine look at your project through Windows explorer. The physical report may actually be in a sub folder in your project - like the debug folder. After confirming where the report is adjust the file path accordingly.
If you're seeing the error after deploying your application double check that the physical report file was deployed also. This is often overlooked.
