Android: Volume media/ringer mode reseting on minimise

This is an existing bug that was recently noticed by a user. On android devices normally the volume buttons change the ringer volume. When a sound is played in air, it switches to a separate media volume setting as expected, and appears to stay this way for a few seconds afterward before switching back to ringer. The problem is when a user presses the home key to minimise the app before the cooldown period elapses to do something else, the volume gets stuck on media and stays that way, unless the user goes back to the app and the time elapses.
This is an issue for me since my app plays background music all the time, so the cooldown time never elapses and thus this bug always occurs on minimise. My guess is it has something to do with background music being enabled. Is there a way to disable background music?

Hi AdaptedArts,
You can use Event.DEACTIVATE event to stop the background music. Event.DEACTIVATE is called when the application loses focus e.g. phone call, press home button.
for example, if you have music playing in a sound channel then you can use the below code to stop music:
NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(Event.DEACTIVATE, deactivateMusic);
function deactivateMusic(event:Event):void {
      // application is now losing focus
      musicChannel.stop();    // stops the music, "musicChannel is a SoundChannel"
Also, if you want to start the music again, then use Event.ACTIVATE event.
NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(Event.ACTIVATE, activateMusic);
function activateMusic(event:Event):void {
      musicChannel = mySong.play();
Hope this will helps.

Nimit

This is happen after a startup of the phone and it will freez also the clock alarm setting as soon if you want to make settings in the clock alarm,the other thing that freezz as wel i discovered is thedownload app. Another thing while this message pops up is that the phone become hot and drains the battery. I tryed the factory settings,i installed the firmware again and a few other things but nothing will solve the problem. Also according some other websites i disable the sync option for google and this doen't work as well. This is happen also with a second z3 dual from me. So i guess that this will be a bug that sony has to soved with an update. I hope that someone or sony can help me to fix this problem

    Try performing a system repair as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone
    Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
    Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
    If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

    my phone automatically toggles between silent and ringer mode. How to fix ?

    Hey there Sam1011,
    It sounds like you are not flipping the side switch but the phone keeps muting and unmuting by itself.
    I would start by toggling the side switch manually to mute, then unmute. Then evaluate it for a bit. If the issue persists, reset the phone with this article and test the issue.

    If your device stops responding, you can reset it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    If the issue persists I would next backup your phone to iTunes and then restore it:

  • My iPhone 3GS vibrates when I put the silent switch in ring mode.

    What I remember the silent switch doing is when I put it in silent mode, an indicator icon would show on the screen indicating that sound is off and the phone would also vibrate.
    Now, the indicator icons are still correct (no sound in silent mode, sound in ring mode), but the vibrating is switched. It vibrates when I put it in ring mode and doesn't when I put it in silent mode.

    Nope, not jailbreak. On 4.3.3 firmware also.
    Problem was in settings; vibrate on silent was turned off. Turned it back on and problem is fixed.

  • Ring tones reset to default for no apparent reason

    I have a number of contacts setup with a specific ring tone. Sometime, and I can't figure out why, those ring tones reset to my default ring tone. I've checked after software to see if that was the cause, but that does not appear to be the case. Does anyone know why this happens and how I can stop it?
    Thanks

    My guess is that you are a MobileMe subscriber and that you sync your contacts to your iPhone wirelessly with MobileMe.
    Custom ringtones are not synced to MobileMe. On occasion, MobileMe will push a clean copy of your contacts to the phone, usually to correct for an incomplete sync. When this happens, it replaces all your contacts with a new copy and you lose your custom ringtones.
    The only solution at present is to turn off MobileMe contacts syncing and sync them only via USB.

  • Ringer Mode to Vibration Mode, programatically

    Hi,
    I am trying to make a function which will switch from ringer mode to vibration based on the argument provided.
    > For example if the argument passed to function is '1', the ringer mode will be turned off and vibration mode will be enabled.
    > If '0' is passed, the vibration mode will be turned off and ringer mode will be enabled.

    Hi Aman Modi,
    As I know, no for now. User need to control it instead of your code:
    How to use the connection settings task for Windows Phone 8, let's think about follow scenario: if some app enable the Cellular data programmatically without notifying the user, user probably need to pay for the extra fee for the cellular data cost.

  • Maintenance mode reset

    The instructions for a maintenance mode reset of the original Humax & BT Youview  are at
    http://videos.youview.com/support/maintenance_mode.pdf
    Is there a comparable set of instructions for the G4 box ?

    By request:
    DTR-T2100 Maintenance Menu - For Dummies ( i.e. me! )
    Maintenance Menu on BT DTR-T2100 Youview+ box.
    1.     Turn off the DTR-T2100 using the switch at the back of box. Leave off for 30 seconds.
    2.     Manually switch the TV to the associated HDMI or AV (Scart) port.
    3.     Hold down the down arrow button (the button between the OK, Power and Record buttons on the Control Panel on the top of the box) whilst powering on the DTR-T2100 using the switch at the back of the box.
    4.     Keep holding down the down arrow button as the “BT Logo – Waking Up” screen appears.
    5.     After a few seconds the "Enter Maintenance Mode Y/N (Y: POWER)" message appears towards the bottom of the screen. Immediately release the down arrow button.
    6.     Press the Power button once on the Control Panel on the top of the box. (A small amount of patience is now required) The "Enter Maintenance Mode Y/N (Y: POWER)" disappears from the BT Logo – Waking Up screen. After several seconds the screen goes blank. After several more seconds the Maintenance Mode menu finally appears.
    7.     Select the Recovery option required using the Up and Down arrow buttons on the Control Panel on the top of the box and use the Right arrow button to confirm the option.

    I have problem with my iPhone 4s, the problem is i can't turn on wifi, though i have wifi address in my iPhone setting when i go to the general then about option, i tryed many options like turning of iPhone in airplan mode, reset options, but still the same, its gray button of wifi, please help me.

    Hello Pllumb,
    It sounds like you are unable to turn on Wi-Fi because the option is grayed out in Settings. Use these steps from the following article named:
    iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559
    Restart your iOS device.
    Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
    Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
    Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
    If you still can't turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options. If you can turn Wi-Fi on but are experiencing other issues with Wi-Fi, please see these steps.
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • How do i change  ringtone volume to ring with low volume first and then gradually increase to the max volume ?

    how do i change  ringtone volume to ring with low volume first and then gradually increase to the max volume ? this feature was available before but is  still available now ? this is for IOS8 running on Iphone 5c.

    I've never been aware of a function like this in the past. You could create a personal ringtone that would last 30 seconds or less and set the volume on that ringtone to do that with an audio editor, such as Audacity.

  • CS3 Volume Media - Where to buy?

    We have a TLP license for CS3 Design Premium.  We have a license certificate with keys for Mac and Windows.
    When we purchased the license we also purchased Mac volume media as it was to be used on a Mac.
    We now want to switch the installation across to a Windows machine and we have a legitimate license, but no media.
    Adobe can't sell us electronic or physical media so I seem to be stuck trawling resellers and eBay looking for volume media.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    BobLevine wrote:
    If the volume media is the same as the retail, I might be able help you out, but unfortunately, I don't know if it will work or not.

    Sadly not, as we already have retail media for another Windows install of CS3 Design Premium which was purchased retail, and whilst it accepts the key (I didn't know there are different keys for volume and retail) it then wants to activate and can't.
    According to Adobe you have to use volume media.
    Thanks anyway though.
