Hello fellow awarians,
For those of you who are using JavaScript in Authorware,
there is some =
great news! When the AW team integrated the ability for us to
use =
JavaScript, by keeping the actual DLL related to the language
unaltered, =
we have been able to download the source code to updated
versions of the =
language, compile it to a new DLL, and replace the existing
JS32.dll =
with the new one. We then instantly get access to bug fixes
within the =
language, and new functionality as it becomes available
rather than =
having to wait for a new version of Authorware.
AW7 was released with an early revision of JavaScript 1.5 -
which turned =
out to have a lot of issues! My own company struck several of
these, =
including a garbage collection issue that meant some
variables were =
referencing old values. A new final version of the language
was released =
recently (version 1.6), and 1.7 is also due out shortly. We
have =
compiled version 1.6 and found that some of the advantages,
for example, =
the inclusion of E4X - a powerful technology for creating and
processing =
XML content within JavaScript, will most certainly bring a
smile to your =
face.

No problem. Actually this brings up a good point - does your
JSQR have a
way to identify what version a function is available from? In
1.6 there are
7 new functions (listed below), but there is also E4X
support. I don't think
your JSQR will really deal with that will it? It's more a
syntactical
thing. Anyway, there are more new things in JS 1.7 - once
this is final I'll

JavaScript 1.6 - New Functions
There are seven new Array methods that can be separated into
two categories,
item location methods and iterative methods. The item
location methods are:
a.. indexOf() - returns the index of the given item's first
occurrence.
b.. lastIndexOf() - returns the index of the given item's
last occurrence.
The iterative methods are:
a.. every() - runs a function on every item in the array and
returns true
if the function returns true for every item.
b.. filter() - runs a function on every item in the array
and returns an
array of all items for which the function returns true.
c.. forEach() - runs a function on every item in the array.
d.. map() - runs a function on every item in the array and
returns the
results in an array.
e.. some() - runs a function on every item in the array and
returns true
if the function returns true for any item.

Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later 0xC1900204

I upgraded in-place from Windows 8.1 to Build 9926. I am unable to upgrade past 9926.
Windows Update finds the new preview build on both fast and slow rings. It downloads it successfully. Upon attempting to install, it fails.
I get a screen overlay with the message:
Can't update to Windows 10 Technical Preview
Sorry, it looks like this PC can't run Windows 10 Technical Preview. This might be because the Users or Program Files folder is being redirected to another partition.
Closing the overlay and returning to the "Update & recovery" screen, I see the error in red: Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later 0xC1900204

As we have Windows 10 install Media available at hand, might we consider to do a dual boot of Windows 10 and Windows 8.1?
Based on the information you posted, it seems to be that the current Windows 8.1 environment is not suitable to do an Upgrade.

Failed to Install The New Preview Build. Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80246007: FBL_AWESOME1501 9926 Professional.

I'm having issues upgrading my Windows 10 Technical Preview installation build 9879 to a newer build that's become available late January 23rd.
I am installing the new upgrade in a Hyper-V virtual machine and get the following error:
Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0x80246007
What could be the problem?
Previously I've had messages that Windows cannot be upgraded on a computer with less than 2 Gbyte of RAM. That's a Hyper-V VM with dynamic memory and I was highly surprised to see this error; never had this before. Had to set 2048 Mbytes as a minimum memory
for this VM. Now that I have this 80246007 error code.
When looking up System log, the following error messages are listed multiple times:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80246007: FBL_AWESOME1501 9926 Professional.
The errors are returned for the Event ID 20 by WindowsUpdateClient
in task category Windows Update Agent..
I reviewed the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability
registry key as suggested in Windows
Insider stuck on build 9841 - "No new preview build was found", and here is what it shows:

Note, when attempting to install the downloaded update from a native boot, installation starts with no errors.
However, since setup is not supported for a natively booted VHD files, it does not proceed further showing a message that installation on virtual drives is not supported.
Looks like Setup is having problems installing in a Hyper-V virtual machine.
Possibly, some ESD files got corrupted during downloading? Is it possible to remove them and re-download missing files? (I, however, noticed that Windows seems to re-download upgrade files after you restart 9879 and attempt to check for a new build.
Any clue why installing under VM causes 9926 to fail?

According to the error message, this problem seems like update package installation failed during system upgrade.
You can try to remove ESD file which locate at boot of C drive and upgrade the system again for test.
On the other hand, make sure the system 9879 installed all Windows pushed updates before system upgrade.

"A newer version is available" error

A little background: I have a SharePoint farm with 2 web front ends load balanced, a application server and a database server, serving content to over 600 users.
I've started experiencing some issues with users on shared accounts. For ease of use (though I don't like it) a number of staff at certain locations all login with the same user account. We use roaming profiles to maintain consistency between the computers and these shared profiles are mandatory. The internet explorer temp files are not redirected and are stored locally.
These staff members regularly have to update a specific excel spreadsheet in a document library in SharePoint. The shared accounts are not allowed access to SharePoint for tracking and security reasons. So users log into SharePoint using their own credentials.
Lately I've been having an issue of when they open a document and check it out to make edits they get a bar at the top that says "A newer version is available. To modify this workbook, open the latest version or save a copy."
I've verified that it's not been checked out and had the user attempt to check this document out and they still get this error. It seems to be random and possibly per different computers.
I first suspected it was an internet explorer caching issue and adjusted setting to clear the cache on close and to check for a new content on every visit to the page. That didn't seem to make a difference.
We're in the process of rolling out IE 7 and I suspected maybe that would solve this issue, but we're still having the problem. I've also tried repairing and reinstalling office 2007 to no avail. I have the latest service packs and hot fixes on Office 2007 and Windows XP. I haven't upgraded SharePoint to service pack 2 yet but I do have the latest infrastructure updates on it.
I’ve seen a little information from searching around on Google but nothing specifically similar to this that has more of an answer then “reinstall office”. Does anyone have any insight into these errors and how I can go about solving them? Thanks!

I’m not clear from the 2 posts what should be deleted.

New software is available - DISABLE

I'm looking for some help regarding the New software is available
tray notification. I am trying to configure this notification so it is only displayed when an application is specifically deployed as
available to the client device. At the moment, the notification is also appearing when users uninstall an application that was previously installed using the Application Catalog.
Example: User upgrades to Office 2013 using the Application Catalog. User isn't happy with performance so they uninstall the application via Programs and Features and then proceed to re-install Office 2010 using the Application Catalog. Now every time they
login to their computer the New software is available tray notification is displayed
I have the following settings enabled:
Client Settings > Computer Agent > Show notifications for new deployments = YES
Applications > Example Program> Deployment Properties > User Experience > User notifications = Display in Software Center and show all notifications
In testing, I have tried disabling these options but the side effect has been no notifications at all. When users install software it no longer tells them whether or not the installation was successful.
Has anyone gone down this road before?

From memory, this has come up before and is essentially known but unchangable behavior. The best you can really do at this point is file a design change request on connect.microsoft.com.

New authoring tools available (Sept 1)

The v15 Folio Producer tools are now available here:

If you install these authoring tools, the folios you publish are compatible with the current Adobe Content Viewer available on your iPad, Android, and PlayBook devices. However, if you created a custom viewer app using an earlier set of tools and don't want to submit a new version to the store, you don't need to update your authoring tools.
If you install the newest version of the Adobe Content Viewer on an Android device, you can use the new Preview on Device feature. The updated Android viewer is available here (or you can search for it in Market):

The Preview on Device feature is not yet available for the iPad. When using the Preview on Device with the Android viewer, make sure that you have the newest viewer, that you turn on USB Debugging on your device, that you install the required device drivers to transfer files from your computer to your mobile device (Windows only), and that you start Adobe Content Viewer on your attached device when you open the Preview menu in your Folio Builder panel. See Use Preview on Device for details.
The updated version of the Viewer Builder is not yet available. It is scheduled for release next week.

Hello Bob, i welcome myself in public forums. I'm quite desperate now. Finaly we are able to use full DPS, so we start to upgrade our tools from Drop 10 to current tools (so i'm on CS 5). Unfortunately even after many tries (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/916/cpsid_91689.html) i'm still stuck with error of folio builder requesting upgrade.
BTW because of quite non-helping names of .dmg i'm even not sure that i'm downloading REALLY the newest tools, because name is just AdobeDigitalPublishingPatch-All and files on this dmg are from 25th of August. Here is screenshot from installation of this update:
Any idea what to do? And no, reinstall CS 5 is not the answer, it's late evening here and i don't have access to medium and serial number in IT section.
And please can you improve informations about what version belongs to which "Drop" (and which viewer is supported by this version), and can you improve naming of downloads so it's crystal clear what is what?

New software is available for your computer?

I hope this is the right place to post this. I currently have iLife '08 and iWork '08 and I'm running Leopard 10.5.8. Every Sunday evening I get a software update request from Apple "New software is available for your computer." The update is for iLife Support version 9.0.4. In the extra comments section it says "The update is recommended for all users of iLife '09, iWork '09 and Aperture." (I do not have Aperture.) Do I need this update? (Is it for '08 too?) If I do not, how do I permanently keep this update from showing up? Right now, I just keep canceling and it reappears the following Sunday.

I don't think there's any way to prevent just this update from showing up, but you can disable Software Update announcements. In System Preferences>Software Update, you can disable notifications completely, or have them show up monthly instead of weekly. (But then you might miss something you do want, so keep checking manually.)

Popup "New Software is available"

is there a way to disable the information "New Software is available" at the clients!? This is a nice feature but some users think they have to install all software which are available for them, and this information on the top of the taskbar will notice
them at every new doployment!

Have you tried with Client Settings: Computer Agent\Show notifications for new deployments = "False".
You can also configure the User Experience\User Notifications configuration setting for the app deployment to "Display in Software Center, and only show notifications for computer restarts".
This will disable all notifications from the SCCM client, like "software is now installing" and "software is finished installing".

UPDATE: Install new Folio Builder panel

The Folio Producer tools on the web were updated July 21. Please update your Folio Builder panel to make sure that it's in sync with the web client. The links for downloading the 1.1.2 update will appear on the main DPS installer pages:

Note that there is a difference between installing the new Folio Builder panel and updating the authoring tools. Whenever there is an update to the web client, you should update the Folio Builder panel. However, when the new version of the authoring tools (Overlay Creator panel and plugin) becomes available, you have a choice of updating the authoring tools or continuing to use an older release. For example, you may want to continue using an older set of authoring tools so that you can continue to work on folios for a custom viewer that you created, and you don't want to update that viewer app in the store every time a set release comes out.
The v14 authoring tools will be available later, when all the viewers are approved in the stores. The new version of the Viewer Builder app is scheduled for release early next week. You'll be able to specify languages and use in-app billing for Android viewers.
When you update your Folio Builder panel, you will be able to do the following:
* Re-order articles in the Folio Builder panel by dragging and dropping
* Unshare folios with individuals
* Upload large articles (the limit increased from 100 MB to 2 GB)

OK, I've done this.
To test what's happening for sure, I have uninstalled and re-installed time and time again, step by step. Here's what I get:
1. install Digital Publishing Suite: I can sign in to Folio Builder
2. install patch 1.0.1: I can sign in to Folio Builder
3. install patch 1.1.1: I can sign in to Folio Builder
4. install patch 1.1.2: I cannot sign in to Folio Builder
Here are the messages I get when I try to sign in with 1.1.2. It's always one or the other, at random.
On my Mac at home, I can sign in without problem. Could it be a firewall issue with the Windows computers at the office? If the sign-in system has changed, please tell me what Adobe has done so that I can communicate this to our IT support.
In the meantime, I have downgraded to 1.1.1 so that I can continue working with DPS.

Firstly, according to this article:
Managing Permissions with Stored Procedures in SQL Server, one method to protect your database is to implement all data access using stored procedures or user-defined functions. You revoke or deny all permissions to underlying objects, such as tables, and
grant EXECUTE permissions on stored procedures. This effectively creates a security perimeter around your data and database objects.
Secondly, access to
xp_cmdshell should be restricted to highly privileged users. As Dan’s post, by default sysadmin fixed-role users have access to the xp_cmdshell procedure. Users that don’t belong to sysamin fixed role must be impersonated with a xp_cmdshell Proxy Account.

First you must import sap crptographic toolkit from help.sap.com, following link: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/04/d246215f1d4f588d1d9c49391acb01/frameset.htm
Here be careful to follow all the steps, have a look at the link and the subt topic deploying crptographic toolkit.
Onec you have done that, restart the portal and related services.
Now it is possible that you might face other new probles or exceptions.
In that case you might need to update your jce files etc.

Windows Insider stuck on build 9841 - "No new preview build was found"

I am in the insider program and on build 9841. I did this same process on 2 other machines, starting at 9841, running through windows updates, and then upgrading to build 9860. However, on this one particular desktop machine, I have all other windows updates
applied, but every time I check for a new preview build I simply see the following message:
"No new preview build was found, please try again later."
Any idea how to force this thing to detect the newer build which I know is available?

For anything newer than 9926 registry settings must be as follows:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability]
"BranchName"="fbl_impressive"

"Ring"="WIF"

Copy this into the registry file and double-click it to import settings into your registry.
Then restart Windows Update and BITS services for the settings to apply on the running instance of Windows. You may use the following script:
net stop wuauserv
pause
net stop bits
pause
net start bits
pause
net stop wuauserv
Copy the text above into a text file, rename its extension to CMD, and run the command file with elevated privileges (right-click the CMD file and select Run as administrator from the shortcut menu).
Note: the branch name changed since 9926 days. Previously you could have the following settings:

Both did NOT work for me. The fbl_impressive value worked flawless.
Remember the value of BranchName MUST be the same as the keyword found in the name of the ESD file you download from Microsoft when you click
Download now in Update & recovery . The ESD could be found in %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\Download or in %systemdrive%\$Windows.~BT\Sources.
You can check to see what is the
valid branch name for a particular build on Windows here.

Set BranchName REG_SZ value in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability] to:
fbl_release -- to upgrade to 9879
fbl_awesome1501 -- to upgrade to 9926
fbl_impressive -- to upgrade to 10041
fbl_impressive -- to upgrade to 10049
