Annotation options

Can I put two optionals attributes in Annotation ?
I want to put two integers, mininus and maximus, and in the annotation I want to put one of them or both.
Example:
@A(min="") or @A(max="") or @A(min="" max="") but not @A()

Just to clarify we are working with "Remote Support".
I can see where my customer has the access to a magic wand annotation feature. But my rep view does have this option.

I have created a PDF and password protected it for view. However, when reading the PDF in Adobe Reader app on the iPad the commenting and annotation options are not available. Is there a way to allow commenting and annotation in the app while password protecting the document?

Is there a setting that needs to be set to allow the annotation features?  I set password protection to open and then password for editing and set it to Any except page extraction, but it still did not give the annotation option

  • All Annotation options unavailable in movie created by iPhoto

I am using QT Pro 7.1.3.
I exported an iPhoto slide show to a 640x480 movie. I'd like to set it to play in full screen when opened using the annotation feature in the Movie Properties screen. No matter what I select, none of the annotation options in the Presentation pane or Add Annotation pulldown is available to me (greyed out)? I double checked ownership and permissions.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks!

  • Proposal: Annotation @Optional

I have a proposal for a new standard annotation with the following declaration:
    @Retention(RetentionPolicy.CLASS)
    @Target(ElementType.METHOD)
    @interface Optional
}This annotation would present a standard way of declaring interface methods as "optional".
@Optional would replace those tedious JavaDoc comments "this is an optional operation" just like @Deprecated will supersede the corresponding JavaDoc-tag.
This annotation shall be applied to method declarations of interfaces where it shall have the following effect:
Suppose the Annotation @Optional has been applied to a set of methods m(1)..m(n) of an interface I.
When the compiler compiles a non-abstract class C that implements I, it will check whether all methods declared within I are implemented in C. For all unimplemented methods that are contained in the set m(1)..m(n), the compiler will generate a method body that throws java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException
When compiling an abstract class, the annotation will be simply ignored.
Introducing this annotation will not raise any compatibility issues, since it will only have an effect on code that would otherwise not even compile!
Needless to say that I find this proposal totally cool, but what do you folks think?

    Carsten,
I think you missed the point of McNepp's proposal.
The problem it tries to solve is that it today is
impossible for a library vendor to make changes to an
interface in new versions of a product. This is
especially true for Sun, and it leads to all kinds of
strange ways of working around the issue including
making new interfaces which in turn either introduces
some other incompatibilities or an explosion of new
methods using this new interface, or a mix of both.Oops, I must have slipped the information that the compiler should automatically
introduce method bodies being empty but the throwing of the
UnsupportedMethodException. Thanks for pointing this out.
This proposal would make it possible to add to
interfaces in new versions of a library because old
code would still compile, albeit with warnings.Naive packaging concepts could always lead to a szenario as described below:
Yes, but the warning would not be visible until at some point in time after
compilation and run of the application there would be a call to that method.
Consider the implications on real world products where there would be such an
exception be thrown in the midst of productive work by some customer.
And, yes I know that the developer of the application should have tested this
out, but how should he know that the pre-compiled class provided by a third
party or solution provider really does implement the method. Especially since
there would be numerous different versions of the interface implementing
concrete classes in binary form only. And, worse yet, it seems to me that they
are all from the very same namespace and share the same name of the interface.
It would be no better than the current solution where we denote the optionality
of some method in an interface in documentation alone. Of course, the new scheme
would provide at least for some automation by automatically generating the empty
    method body on compilation.
In the proposed scheme we would be having two classes foo.bar.SomeClass with the
same fully qualified class name but yet both have different behaviour, just
because SomeClass from product configuration a does implement the optional
methods defined by an interface being implemented and in product configuration b
we find that SomeClass suddenly throws unchecked runtime exceptions, that will
eventually cause the application to shutdown, possibly leaving unsaved data
destroying hours of work. And all of this because the user installed some other
product of a different developer that is using the other product configuration
and installing that one into the common classpath.
I think that the above solution, whilst being absolutely interesting for
packaging libraries of some sort, does not really meet the requirements for
packaging of libraries or product configurations. I'd rather see this in another
language that is being introduced into the process of a) defining packages and
    b) pre-generating the required interface source files and then c) implementing
the required classes that implement these interfaces and d) compile these into
    the various product configuration packages.
More experienced packagers and product configurators will introduce implementation
wrappers, as for example the Socket class provided by SUN that hide away the implementation
of the socket class, as being described below:
In my belief, a developer of a package or various configurations of a package
must know that using the same names and namespaces for various product
configurations is difficult. As such, the interface should never change and the
protocol should be fixed as being defined by the interface. And, if there are
optional methods to be implemented, these should never be in the interface in
the first place. A common solution to this problem is to further decompose the
interface, even if it would require that single methods be refactored to
optional interfaces to be implemented by some implementing (abstract) (base)
    class.
The currently used solution of using implementations and delegating wrapper
classes leverages this and may even take care of the exceptions to be expected
when dealing with optional methods not being implemented by some product
configuration, i.e. log the information to standard out instead of causing the
    application to stop working.
Here is an example for the common scheme:
    in package foo.bar
    public class DelegatingWrapper implements TheInterface
    private TheInterface impl;
    in package foo.bar.productconfigurationA
    public class ProductConfigA implements TheInterface
    in package foo.bar.productconfigurationB
    public class ProductConfigB implements TheInterface
Now, the user of the DelegatingWrapper will have to provide information as to
which product configuration he is going to use, so there will be no accidental
use of the wrong product configuration anymore. And, additionally installed
product configurations will no longer cause other applications to stop working
because of some missing feature that was optionally defined in the interface.
Both now can easily be used with the initially proposed scheme of additonal
    annotations.
Consequently, and now that I finally understand of what the initial poster is talking
about, I think that it would be a nice to have feature, especially set up in the
    second szenario shortly depicted above.

There are a number of different Caption styles available. If
you don't like the list you see, scroll to the bottom and choose

  • Showing Annotations in Separate column in Hyperion Financial Report with source Essbase ASO

    Hi All,
I've a Report in FR and user has to enter the comments and the entered comments should display in Column. I'm using Annotations here and created a separate column and written formula <<Annotation(cur, cur, F, cur, Desc)>>. The comment is displaying in the column, but to see the comment / annotation one has to select View -> Annotations. Is there any way to get rid of this. With out selecting View -> Annotations option can the comments directly displays in column when user opens a Report ?
Or Is there any other way that user can enter comments in FR ? Essbase ASO cube is my source

  • Does ADF support weldCDI annotation in JDev 11.1.2.3/wls in Java EE 5?

Does anyone know if we can use weld CDI implementation's annotation in ADF in JDeveloper 11.1.2.3 in Java EE 5 environment?
I have applied sherman update 3 successfully to the JDeveloper with integrated weblogic server.
Tried a simple injection sample, I got null pointer exception when runs the application.
    1. UI, test.jsf (facelets) page, I can bind Managed bean with annotation option. So @Named of weld CDI annotation works.
I saw injection working in test.jsf. No bean definition in the adfc-config.xml (yes, since chose annotation option)
    2. UI, created test2.jspx (JSP xml), however, the annotation option at binding bean screen is greyed out.
The managed bean configuration goes into adfc-config.xml.
    a. If using @Named @SessionScope in the managed bean class, got passive managed bean declaration from weld CDI implementation when context is loaded.
    Application failed to launch.
    b. If not using annotation above in the bean class, application is able to launch, but got null pointer exception in test2.jspx where I refer the value from managed bean.
    Your comments are highly appreciated.

Weld works in Java EE 5 and above. As for specific web servers, running on weblogic 10.3.5 above, it needs JSF 2.0.
The challenge is that annotation doesn't seem to work in ADF (project).
I have seen bug fixes in the release notes of Weblogic 12c (which is Java EE6) on Oracle web site.
However I wondered why it mentions to fix bug when running weld, as 12c supposes to be a fully CDI supporting environment.
Why need weld? I just refer this to say, weld works in Java EE 6.
    Thanks.

  • How can I show author and the time of a cell comment (not the annotation) in FRS?

I have FRS report in which one of the columns is displaying comments entered for the data cells in Planning. Using CelText() I can show the comments them selves, but not the Author and the Date (which are visible when you select Comments in the Planning web form or SmartView). I tried the Annotation() but its not working (as expected).
Am I missing some other function, un-documented feature, or an argument here?
    Thanks,
    M. Sladic

    Hi,
Can you please use the CellText as annotation function in FR Studio.
    The steps:
    1) Add planning comment with admin account using planning interface.
    2) Display as Annotation option is checked in Studio.
    3) When the report is run in web viewer this planning comment is shown as a read-only cell-text annotation the author is admin

  • Preview has changed?

When I click to open a jpg file the default viewer is 'Preview'. (ver 3.0.9) Until recently it had an option to 'annotate' on the top bar. This I found extremely useful. However recently this option seems no longer available. There is still an annotation option in the Tools menu, but clicking on it only gives me two further greyed out options (Tools/Annotate - 'Text annotation/Oval annotation').
How can I get my old Preview back or make the option in the Tools menu work?
    Thanks
    Ian

Thanks Jeffrey, but unfortunately doesn't help.
When I open the 'customize toolbar' there is no longer a button available for 'Annotate'.
I appears that this has been replaced by the 'Annotation' option in the Tools menu, but not much help if it's permanently greyed out!

  • Can't get rid of thin outline around embedded movie?

...even after setting it to "Invisible Rectangle" in the settings box.
I'm trying to get a flash animation, converted to quicktime movie (imported with legacy format option), embedded into the PDF, and then playing as the page becomes visible (i.e. the look you'd get if you were using powerpoint)
    test file attached...
This is my 2nd preference as I was trying to get my flash animation embedded into my InDesign file which then was to be exported to PDF... but when I tried both quicktime movie and SWF it caused my Acrobat to "unexpectedly quit"... again and again... so after much frustration have given up and was trying to embed the quicktime movie into the PDF - which will be take up much more time as it's a 150 pg presentation in InDesign and every time I send the PDF for approval I will need to reimport the movies into the PDF... but at least it doesn't crash out... BUT just can't get rid of the thin black line around the movie.
I convinced the client to do the 150pg presentation in InDesign not powerpoint (as has been done previously) but need to offer them the same offering as powerpoint with all the animation - which I thought would be no problem with importing flash files into InDesign - but I'm finding it fraught with difficulties!
They'll be wishing they used Powerpoint!
Any help would be so much appreciated
PS using Adobe CS4, Mac OSX 10.4, Acrobat 9

Thanks very much for the response Sandee. I tried your suggestion of the  Annotation option and this worked! - wonderful.. altho this test now works for me I'd still love to get it working from InDesign.
What I'm trying to achieve... my client had 5 powerpoint presentations that need updating with new branding (totally about 160 pages - with about 20 basic animations - i.e. flashing lights on products etc).
I sold him on the idea of using InDesign/PDF rather than powerpoint - but am needing to find an easy solution for the animations. So I've been working on this test file. Have self taught myself on a basic flash animation (from Lynda.com)... and tried importing both SWF and QT .MOV into InDesign and then exporting to PDF and when it loaded up in Acrobat it would always "unexpectedly quit" upon opening... even after trying different versions of PDF compatibility and restarting etc.
Is there something obvious that I'm not doing right?
Also if I get it to work, does that mean that my client and all their staff around the world will need to be Acrobat Reader 9?
Thanks again for your time and help

  • How can i mark books (pdf) in iBooks  on my iPad?

    Hello,
I am using the new update - and Mavericks on my Macbook. I want to synchronize those marks and annotations, but i don't know how to make an annotation or marks in iBooks on my iPad -
    please help! thank you!

I've been looking at this today also, unfortunately it looks like there is no option in iBooks either in Mavericks or iOS to annotate and sync those notes via iCloud, when the book is in PDF format (despite the implication that you can). Best I have found, is that bookmarks sync between iOS devices, but not to Mavericks.
The annotation option is not present in iOS, and the PDF just opens in Preview in Mavericks, rather than iBooks.
    I found this workaround helped:
    1) Convert the PDF to ePub format - you can easily do this here for free: http://ebook.online-convert.com/convert-to-epub
    2) Add the converted ePub book to iBooks on Mavericks. (Add to Library from the File menu)
    3) Sync the book to iOS using iTunes in the normal way (the ePub book will automatically appear under Books in iTunes)
    4) You can now annotate by selecting the text in the book (in either Mavericks or iOS) and these changes push via iCloud provided this is all setup normally. In iBooks on Mavericks, you may need to Authorise the computer.
    5) Then to annotate In iOS, highlight the text, the popup menu gives the option to add notes.
    Hope this helps

  • IPhoto Metadata and the Collage Screen Saver

I'm loving the new screen savers that came with Leopard, and I like the collage screensaver. I have good information that I entered in the iPhoto "info" box for photo names and dates. However, when I turn on the "Annotated" option in Desktop & Screen Saver preferences, it only displays the original File name and date (some stupid names instead like "P1764670" instead of "Camping at Inks Lake"...and sometimes the original date on a photo was wrong, so I correct them)...Is there a way to make the Collage screensaver look at the data I've painstakingly entered into iPhoto? At the very least, is there a way to migrate the data from iPhoto to rename the files and dates of certain photos? Does iPhoto '08 offer a solution that iPhoto 6 does not?
    Thanks

  • Pdf preview tiles

I have noticed that some Windows computers show preview tiles instead of a standard file list.  Specifically, on one Windows 7 32 bit Home Premium SP1 computer, when choosing "large" as a list choice, it shows preview tiles of the first page of the .pdf file.  But other Windows 7 computers do not.  The one I WANT to show preview tiles is a 64 bit Win7, and a Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit.   But NO WHERE could I find a reference to this at the Adobe site, nor when Googled.  However, some others have had this issue, and suggestions didn't work, such as a registry fix.   The registry was already correct at that specific place.   I could find no way to turn this feature on!  This concerns the Adobe Acrobat Reader, free version.   Thank you if you have the answer!  (one techy said Adobe has bad code.  I doubt that! :-)

I had a big problem with preview too since the text options are so limited. I found this free open source program thats an alternative that has more annotation options than preview...ironically its the last day of classes so I'm a bit late for myself. Anyway, here it is:
