Another Mina Question :(

So I have Mina running but I am using basically using it as a gateway between two legacy systems. One running a script based application on one end and the other a native C++ application. The communication works fine from one end where Mina is in the server role. My question now is is there an efficient way of working with Mina in a client role so that I can route requests to another application without blocking on the response, I can do this using the standard java.nio package but does Mina provide some mechanism?
Thanks, S.D.

Sure - Mina has great support for clients as well as servers!
You'll probably want to work with the 0.9 stream rather than the 0.8 stram though, as non-blocking connects is not available in 0.8.
You will probably also find the mailing list an invaluable tool: Trustin has built up a thriving community!

  • Another newb question: multiple virtual servers

Hi, I have yet another ignorant question. I have several unrelated web projects that I am working on, and I would like to be able to set up a virtual server for each one for testing purposes, such as: http://project1, http://project2, http://project3. Can someone tell me if this is doable, and if there are any tutorials/resources on this for someone who has 0 experience running a web serer? Sorry for being so ignorant!

    Yes, it is doable.
You can setup virtual server either by IP or by name.
If you have one IP, and want to set them up by name (ex. http://project1, http://project2, http://project3) you can do so easily with this type of configuration:
    <virtual-server>
        <name>mydomain</name>
        <http-listener-name>http-listener-1</http-listener-name>
        <host>*.mydomain.com</host>
        <document-root>/www/domain</document-root>
      </virtual-server>
      <virtual-server>
        <name>myotherdomain</name>
        <http-listener-name>http-listener-1</http-listener-name>
        <host>*.myotherdomain.com</host>
        <document-root>/www/myotherdomain</document-root>
      </virtual-server>
....The important part here is that
    a) all virtual servers share the same HTTP listener
    b) which virtual server serves the request depends on the $HOST request header send by the client. Sun Web Server does the matching for you. It will match $HOST vs. the virtual server's host attribute. Depending on which site you connect to the right virtual server will be used.
    c) if the $HOST request header does not match any of the virtual servers, then the default virtual server defined in the HTTP listener will be used.
To create a virtual server, use the Admin GUI, access the configuration, and then add new virtual server. Or use the following CLI command.
wadm> create-virtual-server --config=myconfig --http-listener-name=http-listener-1 --document-root=/www/docs/myserver.com --host-pattern=myserver.com --log-file=../logs/myserver.com-error_logs myserverHost pattern will be used for matching. Some of this elements might be optional.
Hope that helps. And keep the questions coming :D

  • Another simple questions

    Hello friends:
Another simple question: I need to learn things about Oracle on my desktop.
My machine runs Windows 98. Oracle has some desktop product of its Database Line?
    For example: Oracle Personal?
And Oracle Lite? What's the main difference between Oracle Personal and
    Oracle Lite?
    Thank You

    1. I didn't know the answer to your first question, but I googled it and it says the item is the in-call audio boost.
    http://forums.crackberry.com/f71/flag-icon-47659/
    2. isn't this setting determined by the carrier? So it's not a setting in the phone, but when you call in to your voicemail you can change your options?

I got a mini ipad io can facetime another mini but i can't facetime a ipod or ipad any ideas?

Safari and iTunes are built-in apps, they can't be deleted or downloaded. If they aren't showing then are they hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions > Safari and iTunes being set 'off' ?
If there is a Restrctions code on the iPad bu you didn't set it (e.g. it was set by the previous owner) the the only way to remove the code is to reset the iPad back to factory defaults and you can then re-sync your content back to the iPad. You may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to be able to reset it via your computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808

  • 2Part mac mini questions & thoughts of catastrophy

So it all began bout 3 days ago, as I was my mini G4 ( 512mb ram 70gb 1.2ghz I believe) the base model, one of the first to come out, it is rather old, but I really don't use it for much and its never really given me any trouble till recently. I really only use it for colloquy and the dashboard, so I was infact using colloquy when the trouble began. It was lagging a bit, and I figured I should reboot cause it had been awhile since I had restarted, I went to the menubar and quit colloquy, as I was doing that I noticed on my dock that my finder was not open, the colloquy icon quit on the dock, but the menubar stayed as colloquy, I've noticed this happened before and usually it just goes back after a few seconds. This is were the trouble began, it froze a bit, as I wondered if not having the finder open may have been to blame, idk how it closed maybe I closed it or it crashed before without me noticing. I wanted to try and force logout, as I was using my laptop with windows on it almost exclusively for the past few months I had gotten acustomed to its shortcuts, and I hit what I thought was crtlshiftesc, but what I hit on the mac keyboard was commandaltesc I believe, and at the moment the screen went black and I was in the BSD console, I've tried rebooting, loggin in as #root and rebooting, and it goes back to BSD. I tried 'exit' which I thought would go back to the aqua login screen, but no luck. I also began to try other things, like 'fsck', and '/sbin/fsck' and '-fy', '-f' I believe, but none of those did anything, and I don't mean they executed and then showed that all was good, I mean they did nothing at all, they just went to the next line, as if they meant nothing, which I find rather strange, as that should do something. ... I'm not entirely familiar with commandline Darwin/BSD, so I'm rather confused as to happened. Idk how I got into this console from osx, I think it had something to do with my finder being closed, and something may have crashed, resulting in me being forced into the text console., so I'm stuck, and I'm not sure how to get back. Also, I tried to boot into 'safe mode' and 'verbose' both just put me back into the BSD console.
That is the first part, so I've decided that I may aswell try and reinstall using the archive so I wouldnt loose anything on my hd. I had most it backed up but I had some recent writing and some music I've made that I'd like to get back. I'm without a firewire at the moment so I can't target disk mode. I inserted my install disk, and began archive installing, and it began, and as I was prompted to insert my "Mac OS X Install Disc 2" , it ejected and I put in Disc 2, and it sounded like it worked a bit, spun the disc around, and spat it out. ... So I'm wondering if somehow I can stop this, in the midst of disc two, and try and do it over, or perhaps use a new disc, or maybe a external HD. Any quick help would be so very excellent. Thank you so much! I really need help as I'm kinda stuck, and at the moment its still at Please Insert the "Mac OS X Install Disc 2" disc to continue installation.

What is the result of running Disk Utility repair volume from the Startup cd?
Print off these posts & follow. Report the results of each suggestion.
At the unix command line, no news is good news. That is command when run successfully will not report anything.
In the case of fsck, the command should take awhile & should I think report something.
You may try to recover your data by booting up an installation cd/dvd and using the terminal.
You could try getting into the Unix command line interface and copy some files or directories.
You can copy files on the Unix command line interface if you placed the flash drive the USB port before powering on your machine.
Boot up your installation CD or DVD. To do this, place to the CD or DVD its drive. Power off the the machine. Hold down the c key then power on your machine. After you specify the language you will come to the installation panel. Do not install. Go to the top of the screen and click on the tools menu item. Click on Terminal to use the command line interface.
You should verify that the files have been copied correctly by trying them in another Mac before it the deleting the original.
*Here is an overview of the commands.*
Lets assume that the problem account has a short user name of mac.
    #Copy directory "/Applications/Applescript files" to
    # directory "/Volumes/Spotless/Applescript files".
    # "Spotless" is my flash drive.
    ditto -X -rsrc /Applications/Applescript\ files /Volumes/Spotless/Applescript\ files
    #cd is change directory
    cd /Volumes/COPYIT/answers/
    # pwd is print working directory
    pwd
#the ls command is for list
    # l is long
    # a to show hidden files. not shown in this example.
    # F is type of file where / is directory
sh-2.05b# # Please note ls is the list command. l is a lower case L
    sh-2.05b# ls -lF
Here is what these commands mean:
    cd is change directory
pwd is a print working directory
    ls is list
    sudo is Super user do
    # The sudo command will ask for your administration password. No characters will appear when typing your password. Press return when done typing.
    cp is copy
    copy a file example:
    sh-2.05b#
    sh-2.05b# cd /Volumes/Macintosh-HD/Users/mac/desktop
    sh-2.05b# pwd
    /Volumes/Macintosh-HD/Users/mac/desktop
    sh-2.05b# cp -i answers.txt /Volumes/SpotMore
Will copy the file answers.txt in the directory SpotMore.
Some files have a space in the name. You need to escape. see example:
    mac $ ls -l ~/"see it"
    -rw-r--r-- 1 mac staff 3171 Oct 26 23:38 /Users/mac/see it
    mac $
    mac $ cd /Users/mac/Desktop/ttt\ html\ copy/
Do you know about tabing? Type in a few letters of a name then press the tab key. The computer will type out the rest of the name if it is unique.
The up arrow key will retrive the previous command. You the left arror and right arror keys to move around. Use the delete key to delete a character to the left.

  • Not just a Mini question...

I've been a proud owner of the low end G4 Mini model from the original release date on. I've been looking into moving onto the Intel platform and it looks like a 2.0GHZ Intel Mini is in my near future. That said I have some questions, and couldn't find an Apple Store discussion board so I hoped someone here would have some answers.
    1. If I were to want Leopard on it's release would I be able to buy a Mac Mini IN an Apple Store on (or around) the same day it releases and get it for free as it's now Apple's main OS?
    2. If I were to purchase a Mini at an Apple Store that is hundreds of miles from my house and something was to go wrong with the hardware would I have to return to that Apple store to fix it? Or could I just go through Apple directly as I have done with products bought on their website?
The reason I ask is because there is no Apple Store anywhere near my home but I will be thousands of miles away in Orlando Florida when Leopard launches (I've been told on or around October 26th). I'd love to be able to go into the Apple Store there and get one that day. Please, someone must know the answers to my questions, specifically number 1.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    1. If I were to want Leopard on it's release would I be able to buy a Mac Mini IN an Apple Store on (or around) the same day it releases and get it for free as it's now Apple's main OS?
If you buy a new Mac at any point after Leopard's actual release, you are entitled to a copy of it. If it is not included with the system (if the system were in stock already for example and thus had Tiger pre-installed and supplied with it) you would be able to ask for a copy of Leopard, and there would usually be no charge for that. If you were to purchase slightly earlier, before Leopard was in circulation but after Apple has announced it's release date, there is usually a program to allow you to obtain a copy of the new OS version at the cost of media and/or mailing only.
    2. If I were to purchase a Mini at an Apple Store that is hundreds of miles from my house and something was to go wrong with the hardware would I have to return to that Apple store to fix it? Or could I just go through Apple directly as I have done with products bought on their website?
You don't need to take your mini back to the store from which it came. You can get service support from any Apple approved service provider, and support from Apple by calling them. If the hardware was faulty and needed to be returned for service, you would simply call Apple and they will arrange it.

  • Mac mini questions and advice.

i'd like to eventually purchase a mac mini, but is the apple care protection plan worth it??? sorry multiple questions will a fully loaded mac mini 160 gb hard drive and 2 gigs of ram be an improvement over my current set up... pentium 4, 1.60 GHz.... 1.59 GHz, 512 mb of ram... 70.2gb hard drive
one more question, will there be any trouble hooking up the mac mini to my 32 inch sony lcd.
sorry for all the questions, would appreciate any advice and feedback.

Can you give us the model number of your 32 inch Sony lcd? The Mini supports resolutions up to 1920x1200. We need to find out what kind of beast your 32 inch Sony is; it sounds kinda big for a regular monitor -- more like a TV display.
Hard to say if the Mini will be an improvement over your PC, unless we know what programs you want to run. It would obviously be an improvement in term of security; you won't be worrying about keeping virus definitions up-to-date every week.
I use a KVM switch to run my Mini and a PC with an IBM keyboard and a Dell LCD monitor. I had to experiment with several models of KVM to find one I liked.
I also use Parallels to run Windows and Linux directly on my Mini at the same time I run Mac OS. Useful for work-flows that require Mac and WinXP/Linux programs simultaneously.
You can buy and register AppleCare anytime during your first year of ownership. AppleCare gives you access to phone support, which might be useful to a first-time Mac user. You can buy AppleCare for less from some on-line retailers -- for example google for lacomputercompany. Be sure you buy the correct AppleCare for your Mac.
Wireless generally works fine, though some non-apple wifi routers with old firmware have issues. In instances of range or compatibility problems, often a wireless ethernet bridge can solve the problem. These are inexpensive and involve no software, since they plug into the mini's ethernet port.
If you are doing massive one-time file transfers, I'd strongly recommend connecting your Mini directly via ethernet cable to your router. This will save time and eliminate several possible sources of trouble. Save the wifi for your web interactions after you transfer the bulk of files from your PC.
Regarding pictures and music ... if they are in standard formats like mp3 and jpg, then iTunes and iPhoto should be able to import them just fine. If the music is protected by Microsoft's "plays-for-sure" digital rights management scheme, you may be out of luck. If your music is already in iTunes for Windows, also no problem.
Although you didn't ask, at some point you may need external storage for your Mini. Be sure to get an external drive that supports Firewire. This is preferable to drives that just support USB, though you can get models that support both. Firewire will be significantly faster and more reliable with your Mac.

  • MX02 Mini Questions (2)

First off, this is really for people who already own a Matrox MXO2 Mini or are familiar with it. I just purchased one, and am using it with FCP 6 and a consumer 32" 1080p 120Hz LCD set from Samsung (and yes, I do know that the 120Hz is the actual refresh rate of the set and not just the horrible "Auto Motion 120Hz" hype that looks awful and which I happily have turned off).
The first question I have is about the 1080p function of the Mini. I actually have the question in to Matrox (which has excellent support, btw), because right now it seems that the Mini only supports monitoring 1080psf (segmented frames). I'm not bothered by this as long as it works, but I find it odd that it doesn't do true 1080p monitoring (which it does with 720, and 486, etc.). Wondering how psf really works, and if true 1080p monitoring would be more desirable for any reason.
The second question is in regards to picture monitoring over Component vs. over HDMI. When I send HD signals over both, I notice little difference. But I see a HUGE difference with SD signals - the main one being the fact that when I park a frame on a interlaced image, monitoring over component the frame is totally motionless, and looks like a "progressive" view of both fields simultaneously (with what I refer to as an interlaced "jaggies" around the edges). When I park on the same frame in HDMI, the interlacing is the usual flicker that I notice on a CRT monitor parked on 2 fields at once. (Hopefully that explanation made sense).
Why this difference? Is it just a function of my Samsung? When I click on the "info" button on my TV while viewing these sources, over Component the TV says "720x480i" (and the parked frame looks very "still" but "jaggie"), while over HDMI it says "720x480" but no "i", (and the parked frame here looks "flickering" and full of motion)
Huh? Shouldn't this be just the opposite?
The differences don't end there, either. Over HDMI, several shots that were taken outdoors with a lot of background trees have really weird flicker on the edges of these trees and other objects. This happens both while playing, and when parked on a frame. They do not appear to be an interlacing issue, as sometimes they go away when I advance a frame at a time, and are unable to be reproduced exactly.
This flicker does not happen with the same scenes over Component. And in neither case is the motion otherwise strange.
What's going on here? Anyone have any clues? Again, could this be a problem or issue with my TV, as opposed to the Mini? And should I have perhaps invested in a better (if smaller) Video monitor if I wanted to do true color correction?
    Thanks for any info!

I just got mine today and have played with it a little, including hooking it up to a couple HDTVs and playing out 720p 23.98, 1080p 23.98 and 1080i 29.97.
    Wondering how psf really works
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressivesegmentedframe
and if true 1080p monitoring would be more desirable for any reason.
No....it isn't. And this is one thing that people seem to demand but have no idea what it means. TRUE 24P monitoring, for either 720p or 1080p...is NOT desireable. Why? It flickers. Why does it flicker? Because as you noted, your TV is a 120Hz LCD. NTSC power is 60Hz based, so they work well. 24 doesn't go evenly into 120Hz, nor 60Hz, so it flickers. Even on high end $35,000 HD CRTs it flickers. NO ONE monitors at true 24P because of this. They send a 23.98 signal out in a 29.97 stream...adding pulldown as it goes out...so that it will play smoothly. Because 29.97...really 30fps, 60 interlaced fields, goes into 120Hz evenly. 120Hz is easily divisible by 30 and 60...if you get my meaning.
This happens with a PAL monitor if it is connected to an NTSC power source. In PAL land you can monitor 25P all day long, no flicker. Their power is all 50Hz based, and 25 goes into 50 evenly. But plug that monitor into a 60Hz power, and play 25P or 50i footage, and you get flicker.
The mini has 23.98 settings for 720p and 23.98 psf for 1080i, and that adds pulldown when it plays so that you don't get flicker. I played both types on two different HDTVs and it looked AWESOME.
No clue about why SD looks progressive while HD does the interlaced dance. I noticed that the interlaced footage I had didn't do that two-field shuffle on the HDTVs...it showed the jaggie lines I saw on my computer monitor. So to see proper interlacing you need a monitor that shows it...HDTVs aren't designed to show interlacing...they are all PROGRESSIVE monitors. I'm guessing that your Samsung was like the one I used tonight...it cannot show interlacing.
No idea what is occuring on the outdoor footage you have. I was looking at Africa safari footage and interlaced re-creations from a documentary and progressive footage of people on the street. I didn't see anything like what you described. But I was only viewing via HDMI. I'm still playing.
And I really like it. I got the MAX version, and so far rendering to H.264 has been sped up 300%.

  • Intel Mac Mini question

    Hello all:
I am sure this has been asked before. In replacing the hard drive and RAM in my intel mac mini, one of the battery wires at the point where it goes into the coupler broke off. I had seen elsewhere that warned if this breaks, you may as well toss the device. Is this the case? Can this be replaced by buying a new battery line?
Any help would be very much appreciated since I have my daughter's computer now out of commission.

    Hi Chris
Sorry to hear about the accident with the wire. Don't despair - you don't have to toss the Mini!
If it was mine, I would first take a close look at the connector to see if it be dismantled so that I could re-solder/attach the wire. If not, and assuming the connector is unique to Apple, I would source another connector from an electronics shop (you don't need anything fancy - all you are doing is connecting two wires that run a fan).
I'm reasonably competent with a soldering iron, so I would unsolder the old connector and then fit the new one. If you don't have a soldering iron or aren't confident using one, you need to find a hobbyist or repair shop that will make the changeover for you.
This isn't high-tech stuff, so no worries about screwing up the Mini (although you do need to be careful to avoid static discharges while handling the opened Mini - but then you probably already knew that before opening the case).

  • IPad Mini Questions

Hi, so I was recently thinking about purchasing an Ipad Mini for like an entertainment movie luxury for my mother instead of using my Macbook. I know that you can purchase an lightning to VGA adapter so we could use this capability but the real question is: Can I hook My Ipad Mini into my t.v, using an lightning to VGA adapter and change the iPad Mini at the same time? Please and thank-you and happy mothers day!

No you cannot do this although third party cables and connectors are continually appearing all the time.
However, to do what you are trying to do, it might be worth considering also getting an Apple TV unit. This will allow you to play out form your MacBook and your ipad to the TV wirelessly.  You will also be able to keep it plugged and and charge it at the same time.
Whilst the Apple TV will cost a little bit more you will at least not need to buy the VGA / lightening cable which is also not cheap.
Something definitely worth considering and it is what I do.

  • Variety of Mini Questions

I just got a Mac Mini, am setting it up, and just have a few general questions.  It will replace my Macbook Pro as my main storage computer for photos, music, apps, and will become the computer that my iphone and ipad sync to... but as I set it up am faced with a few questions:
Of course, none of my iPhone or iPad apps are on the new mini... I could download all of them and put copies on this computer, but I'm curious whether I actually need to do that.  Is there a good reason to sync all of my apps with iTunes rather than just let them live on the iPad and iPhone?
I use iMatch, have set up iTunes to see the library of 15,000+ songs.  Is there a single step I can take to download all of that music onto the mini?  I just like have a hard copy of it.
And on the flip side, I want to free up the 90+gbs of space that my music is taking up on the MBPro.  Is there a simple way to delete the music, while keeping it accessable to the files in the cloud?
I am attaching the mini via HDMI to a JVC 32 inch HD tv, I cannot figure out whether the TV is 1080i or 720p.  Does it matter which I set the mini to?  720p is more magnified than 1080i.  Is there more to it that I'm missing?
Thanks for any or all answers.

Answering all your questions based on my experience and in order.
    1. If you dont plan on syncing your iphone and or ipad directly to your mac mini, no need to transfer the apps, however if you want to sync with your mac mini you will need to transfer the apps or they will be deleted. Click on the arrow symbol next to your device, and select import purchases if you wish to transfer apps.
    2. If you want to download all your itunes match collection into your new mac mini simply boot up itunes click itunes match tab, and then click add this computer and sign in, voila all your 15,000+ songs available to download directly unto your hard drive.
    3. If you want to delete specific songs, but keep a copy in the cloud it's simple; when you hit delete on 1 or more songs just DONT select the delete from icloud list and your song should remain on your itunes librabry accesible via the cloud, but not downloaded on your device (i suggest you try it with one or a few songs and you'll see how it all works.
    4. In my experience, for 32-41 inch displays the difference between 720p and 1080i are miniscule, so Im gonna go with it doesnt matter.
Cheers from a fellow mac mini owner!

  • N97 Mini questions

Hi Ive just got a few questions
is there a way to turn the vibration off for when you lock the keys using the slide button but keep vibration fr when receiving alerts?
is there a way to increase the vibration so its more noticable?
Is there a way to have the battery life show as a percentage rather then as bars on the homescreen?
Is there a way to increase batterry life?
Is there an emergency charger that is compatible with the N97 mini ?
I have seen small memory cards such as these http://www.foneshop.com/nokia/n97-mini/memory-cards/sandisk-16gb-micro-sd-transflash-memory-card
are these the type that are used in N97 minis?
My n97 mini currently has an 8GB memory card i believe, can I install a 16GB card into it? will that effect anything badly?
How would I go about that? Is there an easy way to transfer all the data between those memory cards?
Is there an application for the N97 mini that will track busses (i live in York UK so i would mostly be interested in busses there)

Well I only got the phone yesterday, so I'm not exactly an expert ;-)
    But some I can answer.
Battery life. If you're not using the features, consider keeping WLAN and BlueTooth OFF. Dont check mail automatically too often (and perhaps only in daytime) et cetera
The phone is charged through a standard micro-usb-plug. So should be easy to find alternative chargers.
Yep, thats the type. Standard Micro-sd(hc) ...alias transflash
The 8GB is build in mem, not a card. So YES a 16GBworks and is usefull, and supplements the 8Gb, giving you a total of 24Gb.
Plain files (Like photos, videos, mp3's) can be transfered e.g. by standard windows if connected in mass storage mode. Some apps (Like Ovi maps, needs to be told the prefered storage location in the app-settings)
And on the vibration, I dont think there is much hope on the extremely (close to useless) weak vibrator. I THINK it's due to a conventinal placement on a slim body.

  • N97 mini: questions on emails

    Hi all,
I have a few questions: what sort of email client does the N97 mini come with? Does it connect to email servers via IMAP idle? More specifically:
    1) if I delete an email from my Nokia, will it be deleted from the server, as well?
    2) when I send an email from my Nokia, is it possible to upload that email to the 'Sent' folder of my email server?
My email server supports POP, IMAP and IMAP idle - it's not an Exchange server.
With the E71, the only way I found to do the two things above was with Profimail, which is a great software but doesn't integrate in the home screen.
    Thanks!

    1. You have an option in the User settings of your mailbox on the phone, from your inbox > options > e-mail settings > User settings > E-mail deletion select Phone and server.
    2. It automatically refelects in the sent items folder of the mail server also its stored in the sent items on the phone.
Thanks a lot! So it seems there isn't much of a point in installing a third party email client like Profimail any more...
Can I ask a few more details, if you don't mind?
Does Nokia messaging work over wi fi, too? For example, if I connect to a wireless router, would emails work normally, like for the E71, for instance?
Does Nokia messaging connect via imap idle only? Or does Nokia send some sort of hidden sms to the phone when it receives an email, prompting it to connect to the server?
If I delete an email when there's no signal, it will be deleted from the server as soon as the phone picks up a signal again, right?

  • Another BW question about filter in the query definition

    Hi ,
I have another question about filter in the query definition.
    <u>Question:</u>
Which of the following objects can be filtered in the query definition?
    A. characteristic
    B. Key figure
    C. Structure
    D. Units
    E. Hierarchy
    My answer is A,B,D,E.
The answer in the book is A,B,D
Can anybody tell me which one is wrong?
    Thanks in advance,
    Liu Jia

    HI
1.The answer could be A,B,D.you can not apply filters on hierarchies
2.Whenever there is a change in Attribute data(like Location,Num etc...)that has to be reflected in all aggregates of the cube.Thsi can be done by running "ATTRIBUTE CHANGE RUN".

  • Yet another standby question...

    Hi gurus,
Please help to resolve the quiz. I have completed manual physical standby installation. It is up and running. I then decided to install Grid Control and to use Data Guard for the standby creation. I've successfully installed GC, deployed all agents, I can see my previous standbys, life is good in short. Now, when I am trying to create the second standby for my production database using the Data Guard I stuck on a logical question:
On the step 3 of Data Guard standby creation, there is a note, saying:
The instance name (also referred to as the SID) must be unique on the standby host.
Yeah, fair enough. But i can't understand what should I do next? I have:
    db_name YELLOW - primary prod
    db_name YELLOW - standby prod 1st
    and i need db_name YELLOW - standby 2nd
But I can't create it on the same server where the first standby resides.. What options do I have? Do I need to create the second standby on another server? Do I need to kill 1st standby? Is there any way to avoid this conflict? I am confused. I have no equipment for TWO standby servers... I thought I can install there up to 9 standbys.. But it seems to be a problem.. And definitely, I cannot give my second standby other name than YELLOW as all my applications are strongly tied on db_name...
Friends, please clarify this if you can. I am kinda lost in here..
    Thanks as usual,
    Maria

    well, that's a good question! :)
because I don't have spare server for the standby. the question is not about: 'should I or should not put more than one standbys in one server' , but more about: 'is there any way to put two standbys with the identical db_names in one server'. I know that I probably sound unprofessional, but I just wanna know.. If the answer is 'no way', I will kill the first standby then and recreate the second one using DG with the correct name.
    Thanks for writing to me,
    M.
