Answer to an old question

Rando Wiltchek was kind enough to provide feedback to me on
the issue below.
I have included his comments and my original post (avec
explitives) below
them.
From Rando,
FIRST:
All I had to do was add a simple
on prepareMovie
clearGlobals
end prepareMovie
and it never came back!
AND...
You made me understand what is going on - director maintains
global
values even after restarting the movie. So if a parent script
is hooked up with a global value, it's script is not
recompiled there.
Now if you change your code, the script in memory still
points at lines
in your code for debugging, which of course are not correct
anymore.
So if your changes are not in sync with the memory resistent
scripts
anymore, any exception that is thrown from there, points are
"random"
places in your script.
With the clearGlobals command (which I was not aware of,
until you
wrote about it), these parent scripts are released from
memory and
won't raise exceptions anymore.
With
on prepareMovie
clearGlobals
end prepareMovie
I can make sure that it happens every time I restart my
movie.
Regards,
Rando
Here is my original post
Can anyone tell me why the %^$& I get a "script cast
member not found"
error?
I've been working in Director for 17 years and I get this
from time to time.
I generally just copy the code from the behavior, paste it
into a new
behavior, name the new one the same as the old on, then copy
the new cast
member over the old one and it solves it. But it happened
rarely enough
that I didn't bother questioning why. I know it's not a
syntax error
because the code runs fine after the above process. But it
does only
happens when I've made a change to the code in that behavior.
Now I'm working with a simple movie with one parent script
and a
prepareMovie handler that instantiates one child object and
I'm getting this
darn error all the time. My above solution isn't working
anymore. The
error points to the first line of a particular handler. That
first line was
a comment. So I got rid of the comment and the new first line
of the
handler is code and the error points to it. If you see where
I'm headding,
no matter how many lines of "errored" code I get rid of the
error alert will
always point to the first line of that handler.
I'm sure many have seen this because it's happened in almost
every version
of Director I've owned. And by the way, I'm in MX on a PC.

That would be true if the stopMovie handler actually ran when
this syntax
error comes up. After getting rid of the error dialog,
clearGlobals has to
be run so one would have to go to the message window and type
in
"clearGlobals" and CR for it to be effective. And if the
movie was run
again without doing this the error would keep coming up. That
was the
problem. So having it in the prepareMovie allows the movie to
run correctly
immediately after the error dialog is cleared.

Okay so I made my apple I.d. Roughly 7 years ago and I just updated to the iPhone 5 and I can't make any new purchases and I just put a couple iTunes cards on this account. Now that I have money on this account when I make a purchase it asks me for my " security questions " that I can't remember due to spelling error possibly or just flat out can't remember. If someone could please help me

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address then see if the instructions on this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551

After having created an apple ID with Italian itunes I moved to UK and I mistakenly created a new Apple ID. However, when I want to update the application on my Ipad and mac computer I am asked fo the old password which I have fogotten. I have also forgotten the answers to the security questions. I made a mistake also with the email i gave and so i cant verify a new password that i want to create. How can you help me?

Normally you need to call Apple Care for the country where the ID is located. You have changed countries and complicated it by making a new ID. I don't know what to suggest beyond calling Apple Care for Italy and asking them to help you recover the old ID.

During the last year i was using my Iphone under this APPLE ID :***** , but i forgot to change it on "FIND MY IPHONE"
is there a solution for that??

If you changed your Apple ID from the old email address (that is showing up) to a new one, but just forgot to update it on your iPhone, try these steps.
    1. Use your current Apple ID password
Trying using your current Apple ID password. If that doesn't work, continue to the next step.
    2. Sign out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime
If you are currently signed in to iMessage or FaceTime
Sign out of iMessage or FaceTime:
iMessage: Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
FaceTime: Go to Settings > FaceTime, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign back in to iMessage or FaceTime:
iMessage: Go to Settings > Messages, then tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage".
FaceTime: Go to Settings > FaceTime, then tap "Use your Apple ID for FaceTime".
You should now be able to sign out of iCloud. You will still see your previous Apple ID when signing out.
If you are not signed in to iMessage or FaceTime
Sign in to iMessage or FaceTime:
iMessage: Go to Settings > Messages, then tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage".
FaceTime: Go to Settings > FaceTime, then tap "Use your Apple ID for FaceTime".
You should now be able to sign out of iCloud. You will still see your previous Apple ID when signing out.
    3. Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't work, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud and try to sign out.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud and sign in with the new Apple ID.

    Hello Arnas333
You would need access to that account in order to reset the questions. If you do not have access to it, then you will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to resolve the issue.

    1. See my User Tip for some help: Some Solutions for Resetting Forgotten Security Questions: Apple Support Communities.
    2. Here are two different but direct methods:
        a. Send Apple an email request at: Apple - Support - iTunes Store - Contact Us.
        b. Call Apple Support in your country: Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support
            and service.

  • An old question re: "file not compatible with this version of Photoshop"

Hi All. I'm a new member of forum with an old question.
    Running:
    MAC OSX 10.3.9
    G5
    Dual 1.8 Ghz
    1.5 GB DDR SDRAM
    Norton Autoprotect
    Nortons Firewall
    Antivrus 9.0.4
    Liveupdate 3.0.3
    CS2
MAC is kept clear of clutter and has plenty of space in all areas. Everything is stored on Xternal HD.
In recent weeks I have been receiving the above error message when trying to open existing CS2 layered files.
I have searched forums including these and tried everything which has been suggested: Shut down Nortons. Worked only from HD. No  networks. Tried opening with PS 7 in Classic. IR. Illustrator. Graphic Convertor. Changed to .tif, .tiff.
Opening files with CS is one thing I have not tried, I have not been able to find a version of 8 anywhere to buy or download.
I have not had any success recovering layered files, it seems that once a file has corrupted in this way there is little or no chance of recovery.
Having rebuilt many complex files from scratch I am naturally concerned I will have the same trouble with those. To try and avoid problems my latest files are made up of simple CMYK photographic images in multiple layers - no text, no smart layers, no groups.
But a simple file made yesterday gave me same error message today.
So today I have started saving many versions of the same file, an RGB version (so I can possible open in IR), a different name, a version as a tif, a psd, I'm keeping a version on HD which i am working on, and numerous other versions on a LACIE Xternal HD.
Does anyone have any idea at which point in the process the file actually corrupts? Is it during saving or when sitting on HD, or is it during the opening process? Or is while working on the file?
Some discussions suggest that if you are able to  actually open a file, a corrupt layer is found and deleted and this resolves the problem.
If there are a number of saved versions of same file, is it likely that they will all be corrupt or might some be ok?
I am considering upgrading to a new, more powerful MAC and a later version of PS. Does the same error crop up on these later versions? Most of the forum discussions go back a couple of years so does that mean some of these issues have been resolved in recent months?
I imagine that it may be the opposite, ie, the more complex the programme becomes and the more virus protection etc we put on our MACS the more likely there will be problems.
A lot of questions (and line spacing!), for which I apologise, but any thoughts or up to date comments would be very welcome.
    Thanks
    Paul

i havent had nortons running for sometime to try and avoid this ps
problem and although i cant really be sure there dont appear to be have
    been any virus problems.
except of course the ps error. which is occurring with or without
nortons turned on. i may uninstall it and see if that helps.
bearing in mind that i am not working over networks do you think this
issue is a ps bug pure and simple or as a result of some combo of other
programme such as nortons affecting ps. in other words would a mac only
running ps still encounter the same errors?

  • My rescue email has been deactivated and I forget the answers to my security questions, and I don't remember my password...how do I proceed?

I had my rescue email set to my old school email account, but they changed the emails a couple of years ago, so I can't access it. I can log into the itunes/app store, but when I hit view account, it doesn't accept my password. I also can't remember my answers to the security questions since I answered them 6 years ago. If anyone has any solutions to this, that'd be great. Thanks!

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.
