Ant in MacBook Pro
I found out there's some ant inside of my new. MacBook Pro..
What should I do...
They were hiding at the CD drive
Put brick on top when not in use, so they won't take it back to their nest.... I think they want to set up their Facebook page.

How do I perform a "Suite Product Activation" so that Acrobat will start working on my new Retina MacBook Pro?
Like others, I have recently upgraded my MacBook Pro to the next generation and migrated all my information from old to new. Everything works seamlessly EXCEPT Acrobat. Photoshop, Indesign, Bridge and Lightroom all seem functional. Acrobat hangs with an error message "Suite Product Activation Needed. Acrobat was installed as part of a suite. To enable Acrobat, please start another element of the suite (such as Photoshop)." Needless to say, starting another element of the suite has NO impact on Acrobat.
This has to be a common problem. Now that Apple has made it really easy to migrate information from old to new machines, it has to come up all the time. What surprises me greatly is that I can't find any coherent answer in these forums.
So how do I get Acrobat running again?Hi Anubha,
I do not understand what you said below.
I am running Adobe Acrobat Pro Version 9.5.5. I do not remember whether it came with Photoshop or InDesign.
When I open Photoshop, it opens without my having to follow any instructions to activate the software. As a matter of fact, I cannot find my Photoshop serial number anywhere in the Photoshop program itself. I do know it from my profile at Adobe.com. Are you suggesting I deactivate Photoshop on the new computer and then reactivate it using my serial number? Will it reactivate?
When you say
"/Library/Application Support/Adobe" at the root level of the startup disk (not the Library folder inside a user's Home folder)
what do you mean? I do not have a startup disk. I have the original installation disk but that version of Photoshop has been updated a few times.
After staring at your instructions for a while, I realized that you might be talking about the Library/Application Support folders resident on my Macintosh HD, although why you called it a startup disk is unclear to me. IAC, I went into those folders and duly moved the three folders into a new folder I called “Acrob1” and restarted Adobe Acrobat 9 and got the following error message: “AMT Subsystem Failure The licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically. You must reinstall of call customer support.” with a small (6).
By undoing my actions I am back to the staus quo ante.
Now what?

Macbook Pro Retina 15" 2014 et Illustrator CC fluidité ??
Bonjour,
Thank you, but I read that this only applies to the United States. I live between Morocco and Saudi Arabia and I already went to an Apple authorized dealer in Saudi Arabia for a problem I had with my previous MacBook Pro, and they told him I had to ship it to the US to get repaired, nothing they could do in the country. It's why I have the new retina model, just didn't expect a daily crash. I just hope someone can look at the report and conclude what's wrong with the laptop. I suspected the RAM but the Memory Module parts of the report don't show an error there. So I'm not sure what's wrong.
I would get the 3-year extended warranty if it meant a direct support line but so far it's not activated where I live. -
Macbook Pro 15, Mid 2010 - crash after sleep
I'm using OSX 10.9.4. Every time my macbook pro wakes up from sleep (either on batter or charger, with or without external screen) it reboots. Usually, I'm presented with username/password dialog. As soon as I type in my password and screen unlocks, osx reboots. I am using FileVault and I did change HD to SSD few years back. Some people suggested here on forum to turn off "Put hard disk on sleep when possible" in Energy Saver settings. I tried that, but it didn't work.
Thanks.
Here is my crash report

Thunderbolt Bus:The panic is not caused by software. You have the MacBookPro6,2—the Edsel of Macs. It may have the logic-board defect that was covered by this recall.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider, to have the machine tested. The routine hardware diagnostics used by service providers do not detect the fault. There is a specific test for this issue that Apple calls "VST" (for "Video Switching Test.") Ask for it. A "Failed" result means that the fault is present. However, according to reports, some units may pass the test, and yet still be deemed eligible for repair under the program. Your experience may vary.
Print the first page of the panic report, if any, and the support page linked above, and bring them with you.
Note that the recall only applies within three years of purchase. After that, Apple may refuse the service. In that case, you may be quoted a price of about $300 (in the U.S.) for a "depot repair," which involves shipping the unit to a central repair facility and takes about two weeks. For that flat fee, anything found wrong with it should be fixed, not just the logic board.
The model was discontinued on February 24, 2011, so the recall has nominally ended. Some units may have been sold after that date by Apple as refurbished, or by resellers as new, and they might still be covered.
Some owners report that their unit was repaired under the program after the deadline had passed. Others report that the repair was covered by the extended warranty from a credit-card issuer. Again, your experience may vary.
Sometimes the replacement part is also defective, so be prepared for that possibility. If you decide to pay for a new logic board, test thoroughly during the 90-day warranty period on the repair. Some owners have reported that they went through as many as three replacement boards before getting one that worked.
If it's too late for your unit to be repaired free of charge, and you don't want to pay for the service, you may (or may not) be able to stop the panics by disabling automatic graphics switching. To use the discrete graphics processor, you'll need a third-party utility to switch to it manually.
Often the problems start after an OS upgrade. If the upgrade was recent, and you have backups, then you can revert to a previous OS X version.
If you're dissatisfied with Apple's response, please keep in mind that no one here represents the company or can help with customer-service issues.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed. -
PLEASE READ EVERYTHING. My macbook pro is with virus. What should I do?
Hello Guys! Thanks for reading this. First, I ask apologize for any mistakes (I'm not a native speaker neither I live in a country that English is the official language).
I've used an anti-virus called "virus barrier express" for some time (it never detected any malware) and it doesn't detect any today. I've experienced some problems (such as speed reduction, but i found it normal). My macbook pro is from late 2012 and here the specifications: Processor 2,5 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3. I have 432,6 GB free memory of 499,25 GB. I still use Mountain Lion. I was pretty sure it had a malware then I installed the Comodo Anti-virus. I was that sure because of three things:
1- In several unrelated sites some words appeared green and when I passed the cursor over them (most of the time unintentionally) it opened sort of a box or little window. It appeared and "X" at the "right down"(think about the the screen of the mac, it would be near the trash) corner of the box then I clicked in it and the box closed. (these is similar to the "hot words" on windows).
2- When I load a youtube video (not sure if it has begun yesterday or the day before yesterday) the description, the commentaries and the suggestions (suggested videos) keep going down (I know this sound very weird, but I'll try to explain it: I need to scroll down the page to read the description and every 1-3 seconds I need to scroll down again because the description is a little "downer". This happens "in blocs" (it doesn't scroll down continuously as i do when scroll down, it go "jumping spaces"). P.S.: the video and the search bar don't move). I'm not sure I explained right, any doubts ask me.
3- Several times when surfing the web new windows (tabs) open with non-related things as "how to work from home and win R$16.000 (this was an aleatory number, and R$ is the real/reais = Brazil coin) and "Gold scheme: how to win the lottery" (this was translated from Portuguese).
4- The most urgent problem (only appeared after installation of Comodo Anti-virus) My macbook pro is constantly stopping. Example: if I try to open the Library folder (after I explain why I was trying to open it) it stop and I need to force the computer to shut down by pressing the power button and holding it. I can't think in ant other examples right now but since yesterday I have need to force the computer to shut down sometimes. This continue even if quit/exit Comodo anti-virus.
Continuing the history… I ordered the Comodo to scan my computer and it has found 2 malware at a Library folder and 1 malware at System folder, I've tried to put them in quarantine, but the computer stopped (I don't know if it is the right term: the colored disk appeared and the computer didn't accept any command) and the malware is still there (I tried to put them in quarantine but the computer stopped again). The danger of the threat is low accordingly to Comodo Anti-virus.
What should I do? If I remember something more I'll add it later.First, remove Comodo. You don't need it, and it sounds like it is causing a problem.
The other symptoms sound like you have adware installed. Comodo might have detected some components of that adware, or it might not have, but whatever the case, you should NEVER allow any anti-virus software to quarantine or delete files from your computer. See: How to remove infected files.
Regarding the adware, see my Adware Removal Guide.

Problems with selection marquee in Photoshop CS5.5 on MacBook Pro with Hi-Res Display
A few months ago i bought a 15" MacBook Pro with the hi-res display (not retina display...just the higher res display offered prior to the release of the retina display).
I'm having trouble with Photoshop and selection marquees. In particular, anytime I make a selection while viewing the image at 100% zoom level (so, actual pixels), the "marching ants" selection marquee I draw always shifts over a few pixels after I draw it.
So I'll make a precise rectangular marquee around an object, and it will look right, until I release the button on my mouse. The moment I release the mouse button, the marquee shifts over a few pixels in both directions (vertically and horizontally).
This has never happened on any version of Photoshop or on any Mac I've ever used before (and I've been using Photoshop for a LONG time on LOTS of different Macs), so I can only assume it has something to do with the Hi-Res display. This same version of Photoshop works just fine on my previous MacBook Pro laptop. But after installing it on the new MacBook, immediately - and consistently, every time - it happens.
If I zoom in and use the tool, it doesn't have the problem. It seems to only occur when viewing at 100% (which is usually for me), but it does do it EVERY TIME I use the rectangular marque tool.
It's driving me a little bit batty.
Anyone else?An update...I had thought to try changing the Open GL settings, but it didn't seem to make any difference. However, I hadn't realized that you need to restart Photoshop for changes made to the Open GL preferences to take effect, so I wasn't actually changing anything.
Turns out, it's an Open GL drawing issue - and disabling it fixes the problem.
Of course, you also lose all of the other enhancements that come from enabling Open GL drawing.
I'm only leaving this discussion up in case anyone else with the same problem stumbles across the issue. -
The software i use to play dj music videos cause for multi disply in which my Macbook pro has a single display funtion. Is the ant way to get multi monitor display added to my computer
If the monitor can be detected your Displays preferences should show it in its Arrangement panel. You may have to play around with your Display panel to get the desired resolution. And also may have to click detect displays and gather windows to see both sets of preferences on your main screen.

Thanks.juliomaxter wrote:
I mean can I run maverick?
Yes.
You also can install up to 6 GB RAM which would be helpful running Mavericks. The RAM specifications for you MBP are 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM. The most reliable sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.
As you know, Snow Leopard 10.6.8 is required for ant OSX upgrade.

My brand new MacBook Pro crashes...
I would be really grateful if anyone can make head or tail of the crash report I got below. It has crashed several times recently and with differnet programmes running each time, so I cannot understand the possible cause.
Thanks in advance!

com.avg.Antivirus.OnAccess.kext
...according to the developer's instructions. You don't need an ant-virus on your Mac and it's likely impacting system performance, even maybe the actual cause of the kernel panics.
Uninstall and see if the kp's stop. If they do, you'll have eradicated the problem.

Perfect Key Logger on Macbook pro?
Hi,
I have reason to believe my boyfriend has downloaded a key logger onto my computer. I started noticing weird programs being downloaded that had to do with unarchiving files and unencrypting text and I looked into it and found an icon that said "PKL.app". So I googled it and perfect key logger came up. I tried to download it myself and when I did, it would download and never open. I know they are supposed to open the first time but then otherwise run in the background and only open with hot keys. I have tried a couple of variations with no luck. When I click the PKL.app icon (I saved it to my desktop after I found it) and press "open" nothing happens. If I press "get info" it says the date it was downloaded, last time it was opened ect. Also, within the "get info" area on the app icon there is a option to click that says "hide extensions" which is clicked and I am unable to unclick it. He has open access to my computer and I haven't had any credit card theft or anything like that which leads me to believe it is someone that doesn't have a desire to do anything other than on my personal level. Can someone take a look at what the terminal showed and give me any insight? If nothing shows up does anyone know what this PKL app that I can't open is? Also I tried removing the app and it wouldn't let me. Here are my terminal results:

If you're an adult, and the keylogger was installed on your personal computer without your permission, then the computer may be evidence of a crime or a civil wrong. Consider the legal implications before you do anything. Assume that everything you've done with the computer is known to the party who installed the keylogger.
If you just want to clean up the machine, see below.
The only way you can be sure that the computer is not compromised is to erase at least the startup volume and restore it to something like the status quo ante. The easiest approach is to recover the entire system from a backup that predates the attack. Obviously, that's only practical if you know when the attack took place, and it was recent, and you have such a backup. You will lose all changes to data, such as email, that were made after the time of the snapshot. Some of those changes can be restored from a later backup.
If you don't know when the attack happened, or if it was too long ago for a complete rollback to be feasible, then you should erase and install OS X. If you don't already have at least two complete, independent backups of all data, then you must make them first. One backup is not enough to be safe.
When you restart after the installation, you'll be prompted to go through the initial setup process for a new computer. That’s when you transfer the data from a backup in Setup Assistant.
Select only users in the Setup Assistant dialog—not Applications, Other files and folders, or Computer & Network Settings. Don't transfer the Guest account, if it was enabled.
Reinstall third-party software from original media or fresh downloads—not from a backup, which may be contaminated. Don't reinstall "MacKeeper," which is a scam.
Unless you were the target of an improbably sophisticated attack, this procedure will leave you with a clean system. If you have reason to think that you were the target of a sophisticated attack, then you need expert help.
That being done, change all Internet passwords and check all financial accounts for unauthorized transactions. Do this after the system has been secured, not before. -
Macbook pro early 2011 won't turn on
My MacBook Pro was working fine until an evening, when it suddenly turned off. It was connected to power and had about 70% charge. The Magsafe indicator turned off along with the mac, but it turned green soon. It still stays green and won't change to amber. Without the magsafe connected, the battery indicators won't respond. If the magsafe is connected, 6 battery indicators lit up as usual. I tried resetting the SMC, but no success. I tried looking for burned areas in the logic board, but everything seems fine.
(Small red ants were frequent visitors of my lap, when it was left unattended for an hour. They usually came out from beneath the keys when I am back Just saying... )One more thing, I had my 1TB external HDD connected to the mac via USB, when all these happend. Hi, was wondering if anybody could help me. Got my macbook pro in 2011. A couple of weeks ago it got ultra slow the beachball appears for 1-2 minutes when opening applications to just typing into the search search bars- couldn't pinpoint a reason for this. I have used disk utility to repair the disk and permissions, i freed up space on my hard drive by moving stuff onto external hard drive. I've reinstalled yosemite but nothing seems to work.
would one of you fine chaps be able to help? this is my etre check
many thanks

You also have CleanMyMac--another bit of unneeded dreck foist upon hapless Mac owners.
http://www.businessblogshub.com/2013/03/watch-out-for-cleanmymac-2/
While you are at it , remove all the seagate files. Most software that comes bundled with an external drive is useless on Macs (use Time Machine) and they often hurt performance. IF there is a Seagate folder in either Applicaitosn or Utilities, there should be an uninstall app within. -
My 2012, 17" macbook pro starts, gray screen and shuts down.
Anybody knows why my 2012, 17" macbook pro is starting with gray screen and mac logo and shuts down after?
I have Mavrick on. Last night i tried to use itunes and got an error for the first time. It said " itunes was corrupted or not installed correctly" . There is no reason because i listened to music just day before. After working on some docs i shut down the laptop. This morning when i tried to start up it didnt happened. Tried all shortcuts to do recorvery. It said " mac HD and Recorvery HD" both are blocked and not accessible.
Ran another doagnoses, checked hard drive and got errors.
I cant see why hard drive might be damaged.
Plz help me out. I didnt do any backup and dont ant to reformat it.
Thanks
-SoleilWell, i tried different things. First tried Recorvery start. It showed mac HD and Recovery HD but i couldnt choose any, said it was locked.
When i diagnosed the hard drive, dont remember exactly but it ran the HD test and on red showed Hard Drive damaged.
Tonight after putting this questions here i tried again Online Help option, i could see all my folders, files, applications but couldnt open any. It was using Safari.
Not sure whats going on. All started with getting slow and i didnt turn the laptop off "was on sleep" for few days till last night.
Like i said before, last night i couldnt start iTunes, but didnt pay attention to it and shut off laptop. Only if i knew it wont start up again.. :-( -
Its a new year and I have some old systems Iw ant to update.
I work on my MacPro and its all up to date(my main system). I have an older iMac Late 07 and MacBookPro 09 I would like to get up to date. I am adding new Internal HDs and RAM.
Can I clone my MacPro System drive and just copy them over to the iMac and MacBook Pro so all systems are up to date and mirrored? My concern is Snow leopard and multiple system? I have the family pack but do not want to have to install each system from scratch.
Thank YouMichele,
That will work just fine. Clone the system to external and then clone to your other systems. Also it's legal since you have the family pack.
