Ant Task to restart an application in Weblogic Application Server?

Hi, Is there any ant task available to stop, start, restart and application on weblogic application server 10.3?
I use wldeploy for deploying the applications but sometimes, I need to just restart the application on the server.

    Hi,
    I too have this problem. I am trying to use my own ant installation. The docs say that we can do that. However, if i try to set the domain env then the ant command will point to bea's ant. Anyway I have defined the task using a taskdef as follows
    <path id="wl_classpath">
              <pathelement location="${BEA_HOME}/patch_weblogic922/profiles/default/sys_manifest_classpath/weblogic_patch.jar" />
              <pathelement location="${env.JAVA_HOME}/lib/tools.jar" />
              <pathelement location="${WL_HOME}/server/lib/weblogic_sp.jar" />
              <pathelement location="${WL_HOME}/server/lib/weblogic.jar" />
              <pathelement location="${WL_HOME}/server/lib/webservices.jar" />
         </path>
    <taskdef name="wlst" classname="weblogic.ant.taskdefs.management.WLSTTask">
              <classpath refid="wl_classpath" />
         </taskdef>
         <target name="start_appinstance" description="--> Starts the Appinstance"
              <wlst debug="true">
                   <script>
                        connect('weblogic','weblogic','t3://localhost:7001')
                   </script>
              </wlst>
         </target>there is no weblogichome or beahome attribute for this task.
    My objective is to control a server using the node manager. I believe the only way to do this is to use wlst and not wlserver.
    Thanks
    Shaival
    PS: i am using version 9.2MP2 for weblogic and ant 1.7

  • Trouble launching extension-associated applications through WebLogic Web Server

    We are using WebLogic 7.1 to do a simple document management system. We have a
    servlet that generates HTML. The HTML contains a hyperlink to document that is
    served through WebLogic Web Server, via a Web Application, and is located in the
    application directory.
    The problem is, when you click on the hyperlink, an application associated with
    the extension (for example, Microsoft Word for .doc extension) is not launched.
    Instead, the browser brings up the document in its raw form directly in the browser
    window.
    This feature works properly when you browse to other sites that contain hyperlinks
    to Word Documents (Microsoft Word gets launched properly within the browser).
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Jay,
    During my on going testing on our DR site, across all the issues which kind of fixed and working now – I have come across 1 which I am a little amazed with
    While trying to run the ping and buffer on REN SERVER
    ERROR 404 Page not found. Everything is set up perfectly to what I understand.
    Env. – HR to portal .
    Request goes to RPS passes the firewall goes to LB and to REN and so on along with that.
    Initially the Setup was incorrect which is corrected now. Then LB was listening to desired port – which was not activated while RPS was brought up – we have fixed that. so for now LB listens to port.
    We have bounced app/prcs and cleared cache. But when tried to ping test – 404 (page not found error )
    I have checked config.xml / struts-config.xml and web.xml – jus to verify the document root and context is alrite. Looks Good.

  • Weblogic 9.1 Deployment errors using the ANT task wldeploy

    I am not able to deploy applicatons using the ANT task. The same works with Weblogic 8.1. It is throwing a NoClassDefFoundError. It is looking for a class by name javax/management/InvalidAttributeValueException.
    This class file is shipped as part of jmx.jar. I tried to include it and then there was another NoClassDefFoundError that occured.
    The problem is I don't want to keep adding these different jars to make the ant deployment work. Can anyone please let me know what could be the problem.
    I am using a Windows XP OS and 1.4.2_10 as java version.
    I have added all the jars in the weblogic91\server\lib directory to the classpath.
    Also I have my apache ant tasks set in the classpath.
    Thanks
    Shankar Chandrasekaran

    Have had a bit of these CLASSPATH issues when jumping versions.
    Have had the best success when I create a different profile for each one, making sure the version you want is the only one defined. the main thing my profile sets is
    unset PATH
    unset CLASSPATH
    unset JAVA_HOME
    then
    export PATH=
    export CLASSPATH= the weblogic 9 one
    export JAVA_HOME= the one with 9
    or however they do it in windows, but make sure you CLASSPATH is only refencing the 9 jars

  • When to use template builder versus ant tasks

    Hi,
    I like to know if ant tasks are more appropriate to use during application development for server configuration or template builder? or does it matter at all?
    I am wondering how to manage the server configuration during integration and testing?
    thanks,
    Nasrin

    Audacity (and other audio editors) are better suited for simple audio recoding and editing - they're much leaner and more reliant. I would never trust GB for a task like recording a long speech or concert.
    I also prefer an audio editor to edit recorded speech - you can edit with much more detail, and by default the stuff you delete doesn't leave a gap (I know GB can do that too).
    So basically, I use GB for anything that has to do with music or at least multi-track recording, the rest I do in an audio editor.
    As for using both apps together: I've experimented with using both in parallel in the past – like taking a recording with a low level and normalize it in Audacity while the GB file is open. Nothing for the faint-hearted, since this is not something you're supposed to do - but as long as you don't change the length of a recording, GB was quite tolerant towards that procedure.

    You have a java.lang.NullPointerException when you are trying to start the application contexts in the application lifecycle startup. I would open a case with support as the stack trace you sent didn't really provide any additional obvious clues to me.

  • Ant Tasks for Pointbase

    In the online Docs, I found info regarding creating ant tasks to start and configure

    a database and another ant task that will drop a database. But I can't find any
    info about starting the Pointbase database. All of the BEA documentation only
    says to manually start the Pointbase database and then continue.
    Has anyone created or knows of an ant task that will launch Pointbase?? In my

  • WebSphere Ant Tasks

    Has anybody been able to successfully run any of the ws specific ant tasks for WAS 6.1? I have the jar file - com.ibm.ws.runtime_6.1.0.jar (which I had to hunt down - it does not come with the 6.1 installation by the way - go figure). Here's an example ant target:
    <target name="stopApp">
    <taskdef name="wsStopApp" classname="com.ibm.websphere.ant.tasks.StopApplication"/>
    <wsStopApp wasHome="${user.install.root}" application="myApp"/>
    </target>
    When I run this, the ant messages indicate that the app was stopped:
    [wsStopApp] Stopping Application [rodApp]...
    [wsStopApp] Stopped Application [rodApp]
    But, the app is actually not stopped.
    Maybe I'm missing a jar in my classpath, but there are no ClassNotFound errors or anything like that.
    Thanks,
    Bob

  • WebLogic 11g: Weblogic-Application-Version not taken into account

    Hello,
    I'm trying to set up Production Redeployment on my EAR, under WebLogic 10.3.6.
    However, I can't figure out how to make Weblogic-Application-Version work in MANIFEST.MF
    Here is my EAR structure:
    MyApplication
    --- APP-INF
    --- --- lib
    --- --- classes
    --- META-INF
    --- --- application.xml
    --- --- weblogic-application.xml
    --- --- MANIFEST.MF <- file I update
    --- WebApp1
    --- --- META-INF
    --- --- --- MANIFEST.MF
    --- --- WEB-INF
    --- --- --- classes
    --- --- --- lib
    --- --- --- web.xml
    --- --- --- weblogic.xml
    --- WebApp2
    --- --- same as WebApp1
    MANIFEST.MF content is the following:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Weblogic-Application-Version: VERSION_1
    The problem is that it's not taken into account when I deploy the application in the WebLogic console.
    When I use staged mode, the line Weblogic-Application-Version: VERSION_1 is removed from the staged MANIFEST.MF file.
    The only way to manage to version my application is to add the flag -appversion to weblogic.Deployer, but I don't want to use that on a Production environment (and it's not recommended in the documentation!).
    Any idea why Weblogic-Application-Version not taken into account? I tried to add debug mode to node weblogic/debug but with no success.
    Thanks by advance,
    Julien

    I tested it at my end and was able to redeploy it successfully with the application versions.
    Are you saying that by deploying through weblogic console,the archive version is not honoring/getting picked up .is that correct?
    if yes, what does your weblogic console shows for archive version,when you first try to deploy your application with the VERSION_1.
    I mean,when you are on the "Optional Settings" Page.Do you see the Archive Version as VERSION_1?
    Deployments >> Click on the Install >> select your application ( MyAPP)>> Install this deployment as an application >> Select deployment targets >> Optional Settngs
    Example from the Optional settings Page for My application
    What do you want to name this deployment?
    Name: MyAPP
    Archive Version:
    VERSION_1
    This can confirm that the application being deployed is versioned one and if it doesn't shows up,then you need to check why its not getting picked up.?
    Moreover,You can enable the "deploy" debug flag to see whats going wrong in your case during the deployment process
    Server > Debug > Weblogic > Deploy
    Do refer the below viewlet on the Production Redeployment

    N.B. But this is not an issue when we check the application from multiple PCs each with a single browser open.

    I'm not sure about the ins and outs of the workings of Weblogic sessions, but:
    the sessions are probably being kept as cookies. This is probably what is causing the problem. That is why it works from different PCs.
    Try changing the session tracking from cookies to URL rewriting, and see if the problem remains. URL rewriting should make the URLs completely independent when run from different browsers.
    Let us know how you get on,
    Manuel Amago.

    This error line does hint that you do have the required JARs in the classpath but there may be version different. If jar is missing you would have NoClassDefFound Error. But it say method signature not found. May be the jar that you are using do not have this method. Try using other version of the jar. Incase if you have like any java decompiler, you can always open this .class file and see if this method signature exists in that class.
    Caused by: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.objectweb.asm.ClassVisitor.visit(IILjava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;[Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;)V
    I do not know anything about asm, but just incase if this class happens to exist in any other package also but with different APIs (older versions) and you are referring them first. Usually this happens if we have same class with diff versions in diff jars and the order in which this class gets loaded. So if you have this same class but latest version put those JARs in the first before asm jars. You gave list of some packages, put the asm package in the end and see if that helps. Its just a hint as we do run into these kind of issues specially with diff version os Struts jars that we use everyday with weblogic.

  • Difference between prefer-application-packages in weblogic.xml and weblogic-application.xml?

    Hi!
    When deploying a WAR to WebLogic 10.3.5, what is the difference between the prefer-application-packages element in the files weblogic.xml and weblogic-application.xml?
    In my WARs WEB-INF/lib/ I have a JAR that contains classes that are already provided by the container (but older versions).
    If I do not use prefer-application-packages then my app gets the classes provided by the container.
    If I use prefer-application-packages in weblogic.xml then I get the classes from WAR/WEB-INF/lib which is expected.
    But if I use prefer-application-packages in weblogic-application.xml then I get the container versions. Why?
    Is there a difference between those two options?
    The exact data I use is:
    (foo.bar.* is the conflicting package; I add or remove the linex marked with XXXX)
    WEB-INF/weblogic.xml :
