Any Good ideas?????????

A little background. The page i am creating is to request
Vacation. I am using an update record method. origionaly all boxes
will be blank when they request leave. when they hit submit it
inputs a r into the database. We go into the database and change
the r's to a's or d's based on if it is approved. If they want to
request additional leave. they pull up the same page. I wanted it
to prevent employees from checking or unchecking a box that they
have already been approved or denied for. I am trying to keep each
employee to only one record since the insert record make duplicates
and is hard to sort through. Is there a way to hide a checkbox if
there is data already in the accsess database for that field. I am
using .asp

For the majority of the time, I go caseless. I don't like them because debris becomes trapped and requires cleaning every few days, not to mention random scratches. I would, however, invest in a screen protector. Just a basic one. Or, ZAGG Invisi-shield.
I stress this however if you follow my advice: be careful. It isn't hard.
Do you have the Mophie case already? If not, I discourage buying it. Battery life should be long enough with moderate usage. If you already do, you may want to look into a pouch for the HTC Evo, since I think it will be about that size with the case on.

    Hello, try kguy's solution here...
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2332457?start=0&tstart=0
First, Go to System Preferences, keyboard, and click on the Keyboard tab
Make sure that the checkbox by "Use all F1, F2, etc, keys as standard function keys" is NOT checked.
Next, click on the Show All button, and select Bluetooth. You should see your Apple Wireless Keyboard listed on the left side of the screen.
Click once to select it, and then click the gear icon at the bottom of the box, and choose Disconnect.
Power off the keyboard by holding down the power button on the keyboard for a few seconds until it show "keyboard Off on your imac screen, then turn it back on again.
The device should appear once again in your bluetooth list.
Try out the volume control buttons now, and see if that cleared things up

  • Any Good Ideas on the Best iPhone 4S...

I have looked at so many covers, cases for the iPhone.  Does anybody know of an excellent case that protects the iPhone 4S without blocking any of the ports or display?  I recently saw this holster that looked cool but seemd not quite what I am looking for.  I have a strong tendancy to be hard on items like the iPhone even know I try not to.  I have tried the Otterbox, which did not really protect much.  somebody had told me about one that I looked at at Best BUy, but I saw their website too and it loked pretty good but right now I forget the name.  I would like to be about to hook it up to the Mophie Juice Pack without having to take it out of the case.  any suggestions?

  • OTAP any good ideas for content ?

    hi,
I support the cisco wireless network at a city hospital and have been interested to read about OTAP which seemingly is a method of distributing updates and content to wireless devices.
we run cisco 7921g`s and would like any feedback or ideas as to the types of things that may be of interest or use (im not talking specifics but methods) i.e news updates / bulletins
does it work like that i.e is that the best way to deliver news updates or messages to an IP phone.
sorry if this is a strange suggestion but if i have the feature sets i may aswell use them !
    many thanks

    Hi Megz,
As far as I know, OTAP is only used as a means of WLC Discovery for AP's.

    Can't stream movies on Netflix.

I have the same problem and I tried installing and unistalling Silverlight from my system but did not work. I had a chat with someone on Netflix and he told me that this is a Silverlight problem an Mac and the browser who use it, he refer me to use Google Chrome instead because don't need Silverlight and it worked. Now for Netflix on my Macbook I'll use Chrome.

Hi guys i had been an iPhone 5 user for about 3 years and i have recently swapped over to a samsung s4 i dont know if this was a good idea any assistance or light in the right direction would be appreciated?

Sorry i correct myself i had been an iPhone user for about 3 years. My last Apple iPhone was an iPhone 5. I am getting used to things with the Samsung but really think the extra features such as smart stay and scroll are coverting humans into robots. The configuration of the features is also difficult as it detects your eye movement so if the movement is out of place even the slightest the feature will not function. I think the ios user interface is simple in comparison to the android user interface. Any views are appreciated? I have many friends also using HTC and prefer it in comparison to the iPhone and Galaxy but as raymond73 mentioned choice is a wonderful thing.

I can't download Mountain Lion I keep getting a message stating, "Re product distribution file could not be verified, it may be damaged or was not signed". I have tried re-downloading Lion combo 10.7.4 but no good, any more ideas please.

Had the same problem and could solve it. Do you have any Virusscanner software running like for example VirusBarrier ?
The following did the trick for me: I disabled my Virusscanner software and afterwards I could download.
Worst come to worse : delete your security software, reboot and downlaod afterwards. Re-install deleted
software after Mountain Lion has been installed.
    Good luck

  • Are there any good DVD authoring programs for Mac now that Apple has discontinued DVD Studio and iDVD? I need to make DVDs that have interactive menus and such (Final Cut X and Compressor 4's DVD option is a little cheap). Any ideas?

Are there any good DVD authoring programs for Mac now that Apple has discontinued DVD Studio and iDVD? I need to make DVDs that have interactive menus and such (Final Cut X and Compressor 4's DVD option is a little cheap and doesn't provide any kind of professional DVD authoring). Any ideas?

This comes up a lot these days.
Practically speaking, there are really four options for the Mac platform: Toast (<$100),  Adobe Premier Productiom ($1,600 to buy or $50/month to rent),  find a copy of Final Cut Studio from 3rd  party (+/- $1,000 new) or a boxed edition of iLife to get iDVD ($50 - $90 on Amazon new).
The other question everyone has is how many OS versions before iDVD or FCS breaks? No one knows, but Apple has said they're no longer supporting these legacy apps. Of course, no one is mandated to upgrade to a new OS unless they buy a new computer. So if it works on a system, stay with it as long as it makes sense.
    Good luck.

  • Why does it take so long for microsoft to incorporate good ideas into programs, but then after they do no one elses software will work on the system?

Case in point: I can not use Xp any longer since it is not supported by microsoft, and latest lan driver requires xp service packs which are no longer available for XP or Vista. So my old software as of April 2014 is now worthless as internet access software(microsoft
will not provide support or service packs for xp). So I get a new pc with WIN7 op system installed and try to do traditional backups to protect myself should my system crash in the future. (usually this means cloning a hard drive or installing Faronics Deep
Freeze to protect my op system in case of catastrophic failure.) I try to install and use some of these utility software types including Acronis Disk Director 12, Avanquest Perfect Image, Partition Commander 10, and others True Image Hdd utility for cloning
hdds. Most of these I try to run turn out to be useless, and I get pop-up messages saying my software is incompatible with win 7 op sys! I am wondering if it is the software or the fact the op system is 64bit (not 32 bit) which means that if you buy any other
software to help with utilities it will be worthless because most are written for 32 bit systems not 64. No one tells you these warning signs when you buy the pc with the 64 bit software already installed. But for a Toshiba 15" computer that normally
costs 400$ and I can get it at Goodwill used computer store(1stStreet and Fairview in Santa Ana, Ca.) for 175$ I can not complain. Being an unemployed electronic technician, I have to stretch my dollars as far as they will go...Another frustrating thing is
I buy this device made by Apricorn Driveware that allows users to hookup a second hdd using a usb cable and a three connector module that will allow the user to connect any hard drive sata or ide or the 3rd type. I try to run it and make a backup copy of internal
hdd but I get error messages saying it can not copy hdds when there are minor differences such as total mbs on each drive or slightly different hardware issues such as my pc has 580 gb internal drive and replacement backup drive is 380gb. Such as shame because
hardware setup is a good idea but without compatible software it is useless! Perhaps if I was using it on my old xp op systems I would have fewer problems with software compatibility issues. I really hate the fact that MS does not provide support for known
good op systems like xp say 20yrs? When the products and markets change so fast they run the risk of alienating customers who can not financially keep up with technology changes especially during an economic depression such as the one we are in now( they predict
it will last 20 yrs). a curious thing about the Acronis disk director 12 software I installed. It seemed I could not get partion size on hdd to change no matter what I did. I found out that if I CHANGED THE DATA BLOCK SIZE ON THE NTFS PARTITION FROM 4 KB TO
2 KB THAT I WAS NO LONGER LIMITED BY THE SOFTWARE FROM SHRINKING THE HDD PARTITION FROM 300GB DOWN TO 100GB. Once this item was changed on the hard drives the Disk Director 12 software (Acronis) was able to shrink the partition size to what I wanted.

Due to phenomenal development in Windows, Microsoft released 4 generations of operating systems, succeeding Windows XP. Hence, on various aspects, Windows XP becomes too old to be used practically these days. So the support was pulled out.
I do agree that Windows XP is the most successful operating system ever, so far. But, later versions added more features, enhanced security and compatibility. Moreover, at this point, Windows XP becomes more vulnerable, although security patches are made.
Ultimately, we need to move to a more secure, feature-rich and highly compatible operating system.
With improved features in newer versions of Windows, the NTFS filesystem has also been improved, adding new features. Hence, certain feaures that are not availble in Windows XP are available in Windows 7, again, in Windows 8.1. So is the disk management
    features.
As for Acronis Disk Director, it's a third party software and hence we can't comment on the features/its working.

  • Is buying in the US a good idea?

    Hello,
I currently live in the Netherlands, a small country next to Germany. In about 2 years I will go to college and will need a laptop. As I'm going to an industrial designers Academy I am going to need a laptop with quite some graphic capabilities. Apple intermediately invaded my mind with their super laptops, the mac book pro in particular. Now my question is if it's a good idea to buy the mac book pro 15" in the US? From what I've heard I won't have any repair warranty for in the Netherlands. But is this a big issue? I don't know if the mac book pro brings a lot of issues with it because it will be my first apple computer. I only have experience with apple through my ipod touch 1st gen. Whenever I had problems with that I just went to the internet and found an answer there to my problem.
It is a big difference if I buy it in the Netherlands or in the US because the price differs from the dutch price 2100 euro's (3108 dollars) for the mac book pro 2.8 GHz and in the US 2300 dollars (1554.05 euro's).
    That differs 808 dollars or 545.95 euro's.
So does the mac book pro have some problems and are these easily fixable by yourself with a little internet help?
    So what will it be?
buying in the Netherlands with a higher price but a active warranty. so with lower risk of a unsolvable problem?
or buying in the US with a much lower price but a chance on unsolvable problems?
please help me and give arguments.
    thank you.

Hi and welcome to both these forums and when you arrive to the United States. Your question concerning the warranty should be addressed to Apple Support just to make sure, but I would agree that wherever you purchase your Macintosh the warranty should be world wide. Considering the price difference I'd recommend the US. I suspect the difference in price has more to do with EuroUnion VATs than anything else. We don't have VATs here in the states, though you'll have to pay any local sales taxes (I know, the difference escapes me). Though once you're here buying online often avoids even that tax. In the US taxation is largely voluntary (ok ok, think about it). That means if you order online from a company in California and have the item delivered in, say, Indiana the California company will inform you that you have to pay Indiana sales tax on the item, but will not collect it at the time of sale. The burden of paying the tax is upon you, voluntarily submitting the tax to the Indiana Dept of Revenue. While some states are really trying to tighten this up it is still very common practice to simply not pay the local sales tax as no one is tracking this information. This sort of thing relates to the unique relationship between the Federal government and those of the individual, nearly sovereign, states.
Now as for the MBP I contend you cannot buy a more solid, reliable, fast laptop, period. Firstly, Apple is the number one computer company in consumer satisfaction. AppleCare is worth it. I've had several experiences personally and with friends and family with Apple's warranty fulfillment and it is totally awesome. The MBP itself is state of the art, sleek, and the best industrial design out there (OK Sony comes close, but no one else does). The OS is virus free and very easy to use. You can run Mac OS X, Linux, Unix, and Windows of any flavor, so if you absolutely have to use some vertical market Windows based program it's easy as pie to launch bootcamp or other VM OS and you're in windows.
I got my first Mac back in '86 and haven't even considered another OS (I did have a PowerComputing clone for a while and frankly even then Apple was better built). The average PC lasts about 2.5 yrs. The average Macintosh about 4.5 years, more than enough to get you through college.
Keep hitting these forums as you'll find a wealth of information and thousands of helpful hands.
    Again, Welcome!

  • HELP! Strange  Boot / Start Up Problem on iBook G4 - Any NEW ideas?

    Hi everyone,
a bit information first: My early 2003 iBook G4/1Ghz has been working flawlessly all the time, been well operator maintenanced and updated regulary and gave me no real problems so far. Am working with it daily in the office and on trips.
Now, out of a blue sky, I face a weird, very stubborn boot problem after a sudden freeze/hang that enforced a hard restart a couple of days ago.
It won't go beyond the splash gray screen or sometimes the Apple Logo w/ spinning gear on start up. Safe Mode booting does not work either, no repairs are done obviously, it just keeps running for ever in "spinning mode" (HD sounds normal, though).
Tried all tricks, like PRAM reset, all peripherals disconnected, different start up modes e.g. into single user mode, won't work, no console appears.
Then -- sometimes after a night/few hours of rest -- it seems to boot perfectly fine to the desktop, all seems "normal", the HD appears, Dock, Programs, ... System Profiler didn't give me ANY useful hints to hardware or SW-related problem. Even the HD-S.M.A.R.T. info was NORMAL. Checked that, too!
After some minutes of seemingly normal conditions (about 10 to 20), I suddenly tend to get another of these really nasty hangs/freezes where no key combination will get you out, where no Apple Menu is accessable -> forces me to do a hard restart or shut off with the power button :-(( Same re-boot problem after that! (gray screen only, of course)
NOTE: Command-C boot from the CD Original Install Disc is possible, BUT when I try to launch Disk Utility to check/repair the HD, the internal drive DOES NOT show up in the list! Same problem occurs even with the great tool Disk Warrior that usally fixes almost ANY HD directory related problem
    • What could be the cause of this weird no-boot behavior?
    • Maybe an inconsistent damaged boot sektor on the HD?
    • Could I still acces it with any disk tools for testing/repairing?
    • Did I miss a trick to boot into some repair/testing routine?
    • How could I acess the HD maybe in slave mode to at least access my precious data?
    • Other good ideas to get me out of the nerve wrecking dilemma?
Your ideas and suggestions are very welcome and much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

If you haven't already try resetting the PMU. This is done by pressing ControlShift+OptionPower Button.
Perform an Archive and Install: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Backup your data and perform an Erase and Install
After doing either of the install steps, let the machine run for a bit to see what happens. Then perform software updates (repair permissions after each major update). Then reinstall your applications one by one, just in case one of them is the culprit.
Use the Apple Hardware Test disc that came with you machine.
If you come to the last point then chances are you'll need to send it in for repairs, as it will most likely point to a hardware issue once all the software has been ruled out.
Also, here is a link on how to use Target Disc mode in case your able to transfer your data.
