Any USB Battery Charging (BC 1.1) compliant Nokia ...

There are begining to be a good selection of USB hubs and chargers which support the USB-IF BC 1.1 standard, which finally defines a standard way of using USB to do higher power (~3x faster) charging.
USB 2.0 to this point has been limited to 500mA. BC 1.1 supports up to 1800mA dedicated (1500mA while in low/full speed mode; 900mA at high speed).
BC 1.1 is the basis of the GSMA Universal Charging Solution.
But I can't find a list of Nokia devices which support BC 1.1.  Are there any at all, or is Nokia not supporting a standard they helped create?
Is there a complete list anywhere?
Thanks!

I'd really like to know that as well. I'm using a Nokia N8 and have a motherboard with BC 1.1 support. How odd you haven't gotten a reply to your question yet.

  • Disable USB battery charge

    Hi.
I think that my question is very simple. I want to connet my iPod Nano to my computer via USB port, but I don't want to charge it (I just want to transfer data). This way I make full charge cycles, avoiding charges of little time when I transfer data. Is there some way to disable USB battery charge while my iPod is plugged in an USB port?
    Thank you in advance.

I don't think there is. Only thing I can think of is disabling the USB port which would defeat the purpose since then you wouldn't be able to transfer data. You do realize that "full charge cycles" are determined not only in one continous use and discharge, but also 2 or more small charges that equal one full charge cycle. (example: allowing your battery to hit the 50% mark, charging it to full capacity and then allowing it to drain back down to the 50% mark before recharging equals 1 charge cycle, not 2). This is info explained below in the info that I pasted from iPod Battery FAQ's .
Question: What is a "charge cycle"?
Answer: Lithium-ion batteries can be charged a finite number of times, as defined by charge cycle. A charge cycle means using all of the battery's power, but that doesn't necessarily mean a single charge. For instance, you could listen to your iPod for a few hours one day, using half its power, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so you may take several days to complete a cycle. Each time you complete a charge cycle, it diminishes battery capacity slightly, but you can put your iPod's battery through many charge cycles before it will only hold 80 percent of its original battery capacity.

  • Ipod usb battery charger

Is there any way to disable the battery charge feature for the 4g ipods when connected with the usb cable? i have a laptop and the ipod keeps draining the battery. i really need help this, so any kind of help would be much appreciated

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Actually, it isn't the battery charge feature that's draining the iPod -- because a laptop won't usually supply enough power and because syncing an iPod eats up a tremendous amount of power that's probably the problem here.
Your best bet is to get and use the three way cable that lets you plug one end into AC power at the same time it's attached to your laptop.

  • USB Battery Charger

I own an iPod Touch 4th Gen, 32 GB, and would like to know if I can charge it with a nine volt battery. What I did was to secure a female USB port to the contacts of a nine volt and plugged in a USB cable. I wanted to test it, so I plugged it into my Motorola Talkabout walkie talkie, which then said it was charging. Then, I tried my Alcatel clamshell mobile phone, same result; it said that I'd connected a charger and started charging. I have not tried my $300 iPod because I don't want to waste 300 bucks. I know that if it does end up charging, it would drain the battery very quickly, so I also want to know if I could use 4 AA bateries wired + to - to obtain the same results. This would be much better because nine volts are hard to come by here and when you do, they are expensive and I've only got one.

When connecting to my PC with the USB cord, the battery icon changes and indicates the connection is made.  No USB storage symbol appears so that I can transfer files to the phone.  Is there a setting somewhere I need to change?

  • USB Battery Charging, et.

So I was reading the manual of my new zen Micro (dark blue, baby!), and I found out that it's better for the battery if you unplug it after it's finished charging. then i started wondering...when you plug in the usb cable, does the micro start charging? so would it be a bad idea to keep the thing plugged into the computer?
Another thing: I know you can't rate songs on the micro like you can on the ipod mini (boo), but i was thinking that if i rated the songs on the creative media source program, and then somehow figured out a way to keep synching the auto playlists that it creates to a playlist on the micro, this would sorta work around the issue (though not in a cool way, and i haven't tried it yet (don't want to screw the batteries, see above, by keeping it hooked up and snching all the time)).
Finally, wouldn't everything be a bit cooler if they could keep track of how many times you've played a song on the micro? i think the media source sorta does this. Also, why does the media source organizer look so terrible? maybe i've been spoiled by using media monkey (check it out, it was my life, until I thought of the "Another thing" above.
Oh, last thing, i swear, because I said this somewhere else, but does anyone have any idea why Creative decided to limit the amount of the micro you could use as a portable hd to 2 gigs?
I love the little guy, if you don't have one, and you can find one, get it.

USB charging is a lower voltage charge but I think you should still unplug the player after it's been fully charged. While tranferring tracks or organizing the music it won't really make a difference. I know that a couple nights ago I charged a player over night (Meaning it was plugged in for like 5 hours with a full charge) and the battery's charge seemed to drain a little more quickly. I know this is highly anecdotal but just some thoughts.
I don't see the need to rate the music on the player (most of my music is ripped straight from CD so it's all pretty good) and for what most people use a Mass Storage Device for personal files or maybe a few movies and 2 gigs is more than enough.

  • Phone won't "react" to any usb or charger

my iphone 3G is having trouble with it's plug system. This morning I was using it on our bose sound dock system but when I was using it, It of course with with the "this device doesn't work with iphone. Turn airplane mode on to reduce audio interference?" with the yes or no question. So I chose "no" since it always works regardless of choice.
While I was using it near the pool on a table, I would press the screen to choose what songs I wanted to listen to but every time I did, it was "off" the sound dock system and then back on asking me the same question. Now after I stopped using it, it's not "picking up" the connections from my plug charger for it and when it does, it's just for a second where it bleeps when connected to the charger yet it only lastes for a second going back and forth for seconds in between.
So then I try puting it back on the sound dock system bose, it picks it up asking me the question normally and puts on sound yet it won't charge.

    had to replace battery.

  • HT1665 USB Wall charger

Please advise, if a USB wall charger itself should be certified by "Made for iPhone"?
Is there any compatibility issue in case of use any USB wall charger (output: 5V / 1A), by an "iPhone" original cable (USB to lightning connector)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Shmulik

    Thankd Allan,
The question is if Apple also mark / certify a stand alone USB wall charger (without the cable)
with "Made for iPhone" as with other accessories?
    Thanks in advance,

  • N86: charging using external usb battery

    Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone found a solution for charging the N86 using an external USB battery. I have two such batteries and my N86 refuses to charge from either of them. One of them works flawlessly with the iPhone so I know it's supplying at least 1000mA.
I was wondering if we need a special USB cable other than the one supplied by Nokia.
    Any pointers would be appreciated.

Charge the phone for 15 minutes with the Apple charger. Then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears.

I had switches off my iPhone 5 at around 20 percent battery next morning I was not able to switch it on. I tried to get it charged but it didn't showed any sign of charging even when plugged in for about 2 hours. I had to take it to apple care centre but they refused to repair it after confirming the problem with the device as it was out of warranty and asked me to get it replaced for INR 22500. I got it repaired outside but after that also if I switch it off in the same situation it again happens and I have to take it for repair it has happened 3 times after that. Is it a inherent problem in iPhone that it uses battery even when switched off and if in that case battery drain out then refuse to get charged because this is the scenario i have experienced every time?

Apple told you it was unrepairable.... You had it serviced by an unauthorized party. It's now no longer eligible for out of warranty replacement by Apple.
There's really nothing else we can say about it. Find a competent 3rd party repair shop or buy a new one.

You could try a SMC reset:

If no change, do what Allan advises.
