Any way to get additional dump information?

Occasionally java crashes when running our java application on Red Hat Linux 7.1. The crashes occur about 2-3 times a month with the application running on about a dozen different machines. When java crashes it writes out a dump similar to this one:

# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (1.4.1_01-b01 mixed mode)
These dumps mostly contain no stack information, and occur when the jvm makes calls into different libraries, mostly libc, libjvm, or pthread. The same problems occur with both java 1.4.1_01 and 1.4.1_02. Is there is any way to get java to provide more debug information or force it to core dump? Even though the message at the end of this error log that says to "report this error", Sun has not responded to any bug reports I have made. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed

I think basically the answer is no, and even if you could I don't think it would help you much. A virtual machine error is exactly that, an error in the VM, not your code. The only thing I can suggest is that, if you want to see if your app is falling over in the same place every time, you use something like log4j.

    Itunes deleted 30 gigs of music from my ipod. And I don't or didn't have it saved in Itunes or on my computer....is there any way of getting my music back? Alot of the music was not purchased from Itunes....mostly from cds I dont have anymore! PLEASE HELP!

    If the lost music is no longer on your iPod, on your PC, or in another backup somewhere, you are out of luck.  You can download most iTunes purchases again at no cost via iCloud.  See this article for more information and assistance.

  • HT1212 my phone screen is broken and I bought a new phone but I want to get everything off my old phone. It will not sync to i tunes because it has a passlock on it. Is there any way to get passed this?

    My iphone screen and lock button are broken, I bought a new phone and want to get all the information off my old phone. My old phone will not sync with itunes because it has a pass code on it. I have no way to enter the pass code. Is there any way to get around this so I can still retrieve my information from it?

    If you are using the computer that you normally sync with, it should sync without entering the passcode. However, if this is not the computer you normally sync with, you cannot get past the passcode, it has to be entered.

  • Is there any way to get contacts back after them being deleted form iCloud?

    My dad recently asked me to update his phone, so I plugged it into my computer to do so. For some reason just doing that resulted in his settings to change to have iCloud contact sync on. This resulted in our contacts syncing so his would show up on my phone and mine on his. He went on to delete all of my contacts from his phone, not realizing they were also being deleted on iCloud (therefore from my phone as well). I don't even understand why my contacts were not saved on my phone in the first place but all transfered to iCloud, but now they are gone from there as well. I tried restoring my phone from a backup on my computer a few weeks ago, however, this just restored everything else except for the contacts. So what I'm asking if there is any way to get contacts back that were ONLY on iCloud (because apparently apple doesn't realize saving something to a single place on the cloud isn't a good backup) but now are deleted. Does iCloud save this sort of information even after it is deleted?

    Henrik.B wrote:
    The issue isn't that I need to restore the contacts from iCloud to my phone, it's that the contacts on my iCloud themselves have been deleted.
    The contacts might be deleted from icloud.com, but if they were on your phone when you created your last backup, they can be restored from your backup by following the user tip.  The backup is separate from the data you see on icloud.com.

  • Any way of getting your current location in Numbers for iOS

    I was looking for a way to get geographic location information from the iPad Core Location API from within Numbers and based on the iPad's location, a cell's value would change based on the location.
    Does anyone know if Numbers supports location information or any way for numbers to ascertain the location of the iPad?
    Thank you.

  • Is there any way to get rid of this stupid feature in iTunes for Windows? You've subscribed to a podcast but have more than five unplayed episodes. iTunes will stop automatically downloading newer episodes.

    s there any way to get rid of this stupid feature in iTunes for Windows?
    You've subscribed to a podcast but have more than five unplayed episodes. iTunes will stop automatically downloading newer episodes. You may get the following message:
    iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?
    You can click Yes to continue downloading additional episodes. Or you can just listen to any part of any episode and a new episode will download at the next update.

    I believe that feature was added in order to reduce wasted costs to the Podcaster.
    Podcasts incur costs - that have to be paid for, by someone. That cost will be the cost of hosting the Podcast on a server somewhere and more crucially (with regard to your point), the cost of the Podcast being downloaded to your computer. Every download costs the Podcaster money (typically, charged by bytes downloaded).
    If that Podcaster pays for the whole thing personally, obviously they want to keep down any unnecessary cost to themselves. If the Podcaster is earning money for his or her Podcast (typically from advertising within the programme) then obviously, the advertiser only wants to pay for advertisements heard by listeners. So a download, not heard by the downloader, is waste of the Podcaster's money or no payment from the advertiser.
    My own experience is that I only have to resume downloading once per programme. I'm usually several episodes behind on two different Podcasts that I follow, but I do not recall having to repeat the resume Podcast after that first time.

    i'm having trouble with installing a 8g kit in my late 2009 mac mini. when the parts are installed all i get is a beeping sound, is there any way to get around this?

    What is the source & link to this 8 GB kit please?
    Can you count the beeps or flashes?
    1 beep = no RAM installed
    2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
    3 beeps = no good banks
    4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
    5 beeps = processor is not usable
    In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
    Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.

    recently "lost" a purchased song, (Plus the accompanying artwork) from my i-tunes library, after upgrading my O.S. from windows XP to windows 7.
    Is there any way to get the original song back, or, at least, re-purchase it?... I tried to do the latter, (It's still available in the itunes store) but, when I clicked on the buy link, I was informed that I had already bought it and was only given the option to, either, copy the link or send it to Facebook/Twitter
    I also, inadvertently, deleted a couple of default playlists (Notably recently added) while attempting to get the song back.
    Can someone out there, please, help me out. with the solution(s). (preferably step by step if possible, as I'm a bit of a Homer Simpson when it comes to this sort of thing) .. Doh!! :-(

  • Is there any way to get windows environment variables like %USERNAME% with javascript?

    is there any way to get windows environment variables like %USERNAME% with javascript using Adobe 10 pro?

    There is a fair amount of Acrobat JavaScript and Acrobat knowledge need to sort all of this out.
    The identity object holds a lot of sedative information. First, upon installation of Acrobat, only the login name is available in the identity object and the end user of the application needs to complete the "Name", "email" and "Organization Name" in the application's preferences. These are the only fields that are available to Acrobat JavaScript identity object as corporation, email, loginName, and name.
    Using the instructions in The Acrobat JavaScript Console (Your best friend for developing Acrobat JavaScript) you can run the following script in the JS console to see the items of the identity object:
    for(i in identity) {
    console.println(i +": " + identity[i]);
    and the following will appear in the console:
    loginName: georgeK
    name: George Kaiser
    corporation: Example
    email: [email protected]
    true
    The documentation states you need to use a trusted function to access this data, but you can access it at startup of Acrobat/Reader and add the properties of the identity object to an array:
    // application variable to hold the properties of the identity object
    var MyIdentity = new Array();
    // loop through the properties of the identity object
    for (i in identity) {
    // place each property of the identity object into an element of the same name in the Identity array
    MyIdentity[i] = identity[i];
    console.println(i +": " + MyIdentity[i])
    You access the items with:
    var loginUser = MyIdentity[loginName];  // get the loginName property
    In the user application level JavaScript file. See Acrobat Help / User JavaScript Changes for 10.1.1 (Acrobat | Reader) for the location of the application level folder you need to use.
    I would change the name of the array used in this post so an untrusted user cannot get to your data. Some of this data can be used in hacking into a user's system.

    Whoever thought this new search box GUI was a good idea was mistaken IMHO.
    I've used the method shown above to return it to the old constant icon/text display with instantly available drop down of my alternative chosen search engines. All back to how it was in the previous version. Yay!
    Displaying the chosen default search engine icon/text in the search box just seems a better and more sensible GUI feature to me than needing to hover over the box to show the same information (minus icon) . As for having to start entering search terms before the other search engine options become available - that is just plain ill conceived design.
    The old design is more user friendly and should be the default setting but if some users want the new GUI for the search box why not include that under Tools > Options?

    I am sorry to hear that you lost your iPad Air 2. You will only see the last location if it has been off for less than 24 hours. Anything longer than that, it will not show up using the Find My feature. Take a look at the article below for more information.
