Any way to manipulate Insert/Replace mode in TextInput?

Is it possible to programmatically set Replace mode in TextInput (MX, SDK 3.5) without the user having to press INSERT keyboard button?
In some cases I'd like to always overwrite text in the input, or at least overwrite it by default.
Thanks.

set an empty string to textInput's click property.
txt.text = " ";
<mx:TextInput id="txt" text="click here to erase this text" click="clearText(event);"/>
Check out this example:
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.controls.Alert;
private function clearText(event:Event):void{
txt.text =" ";
private function showNewText(event:Event):void{
Alert.show("New text: " +txt.text);
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:VBox width="100%" height="100%" verticalGap="20" > <mx:TextInput id="txt" text="click here to erase this text" click="clearText(event);"/>
<mx:Button id="showNewTxt" label="Show Newly Entered Text" click="showNewText(event);" />
</mx:VBox>

In fmrweb.res file , I have add teh following line and tried with same combination in keyboard.

You can use a pluggable Java Component to do this and there is an example in the Forms 9i demos.

• My iPod touch 8GB screen has been cracked. It is still under the Wal-Mart 2 year extended warranty, but I really want 5th generation! Any way to get it replaced then return it for money back or even get a discount on it??

Apple will only give you a 10% discount if you turn that one in and purchase the new one.
I do not know if the WalMart warranty covers accidental damage like a broken screen.

• 1st-gen Mac Pro does not boot in any way, not even in safe mode

I have a 1st-generation Mac Pro with the graphics card upgraded to NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT; running 10.7.2. I have had no problems with the machine since I bought it in May 2007... until now. Specifically, the machine suddenly became non-responsive, froze (I do not remember this ever happening before), so I had to power it down and restart. After that, the machine does not boot in any way: does not start up with the Option key; no FireWire target mode; does not start up even in the safe mode. All I get when I power the machine up is the folllowing endless loop: (1) the display unit (30" Apple Cinema Display) waking up from sleep (white light going off) and (2) a flicker of white on the display while the optical drive sounds like checking for any inserted media... then again the display going to sleep for a few seconds and steps (1) and (2).
I could really use help here. Thank you in advance.

Linc:
I am also sure it is a hardware fault. I have tried to run the Apple Hardware Test from the orginal system disc: I opened the optical drive tray with a paper clip, inserted the disc and powered up the machine. However the machine only spinned up the disc, turned the display to standby, spinned up and standby, etc.
What kind of hardware fault could it be?
(1) the display unit (30" Apple CInema Display) -- I presume unlikely, since the computer should boot even with a defunct display unit or no display unit at all, for that matter;
(2) the graphics card
or
(3) the logic board?

• Is there any way to manipulate PDF documents in Adobe Reader?

I need to manipulate a scanned document that is automatically saved as a PDF from our scanner. Is there any way? I have adober reader * becuase I havent updated yet. Do I need to do so? Thanks for any help!

Again, not with "Reader".
You could find an OCR application if you want to convert it to text or you could get ADobe Acrobat and convert it to many different formats.

• Is there any way can stop the automatic mode channel?

Hi Expert,
I wanna confirm if there are anyways can make the automation mode channel to be stopped, excepting stop the channel in
the "Runtime Wrokbench" of the Browser by manual.
I expect the manner as using the Http Request to stop the channel.
Is there any way?
( I consider maybe the way using Http request to stop the automation mode channel is not viable. cause I got the error msg describe as follows:
The channel "GSCMDRECEIVERBJ/XIF_JAVA/APS2GSCMDBJ_RECEIVER_CC (GUID 9c094a53361438e6947efba69a4c7715)" is configured to use an automation mode not compatible with the type of the current principal (WSUSER). The channel was not started. Change the channels automation mode and repeat the administrative action. )
Thx in advances.

• Do web deployed forms support insert/replace modes

Hi:
We are currently using Oracle Forms 10g. In older versions of forms the Insert key could be used to toggle between Insert and Replace modes when entering data in a field. Is this functionality supported in Web deployed forms?
Thomas

Apparently not. See

• How to disable mac book sleep for when I close the lid. I have a monitor attached to the mac book and as soon as I close the lid on the mac book it goes toi sleep. Any way to disable the sleep mode? Thanks

Boss bought a new monitor for his mac book. We connected it but he rather keep the mac book lid closed in order to work on the bigger monitor screen. Soon as he closes the lid, the mac book goes to sleep mode.
Is there a free way to disable the sleep mode?

When the MacBook goes to sleep just hit a key on your external keyboard and the monitor will come back on.

• Is there any way to get a replacement XS Key?

Hey, a quick summary of my problems
- Swapped iMac computers with my wife (cause she wanted the bigger screen version and I'm a nice chap)
- Backed up everything on external drive using time machine, migrated across Applications from external HD to the new computer.
- Logic Pro 8 now opens but asks for serial no., no problem with this but...
- then it asks for original XS Key. No idea where that is (silly i know)... got it so many years ago. Going to dig through my folks attic tomorrow but not holding much hope.
- I have the XS Key number noted down.. is there any way at all Apple will provide (or sell) me an XS Key? Or is there any other workaround? Really, really can't afford to buy the full software again.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Your iPod comes with a 1 year warranty which covers manufacturers defects. Unless you bought some sort of insurance specifically for your iPod or it's covered under your renter's/homeowner's insurance, they only way you're going to get a new one is to buy one. Sorry.
Best of luck.

• Is there any way to set a stealth mode on the ports in Panther

The built-in firewall in Tiger provides a 'Stealth Mode' setting that makes the ports nonresponsive to external attempts to connect. The Panther firewall doesn't have this capability. Does anyone know of a way to enable this on a Panther machine (specifically 10.3.5 & 10.3.6) - even if it involves installing a utility application is ok.

Ok, question for Karl.
When I go to https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
and do the ShieldsUP Stealth test from outside my hardware firewall connected directly to the internet (SSH turned off for the test) why do I get this result?:
GRC Port Authority Report created on UTC: 2006-09-25 at 06:03:43
Results from scan of ports: 0, 21-23, 25, 79, 80, 110, 113,

ALL PORTS tested were found to be: STEALTH
Specifically ftp reports this:
21
FTP
Stealth There is NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER that a port (or even any computer) exists at this IP address!
The only thing that fails is the PING test. Because they can ping my address. I don't have firewall turned on and I am running 10.3.9 not 10.4.
Any ideas? Is this test just not thourough enough?
Run the test for yourself and see. You will need to click Proceed at the bottom of the page to start the test.

• Is there any way to get a replacement iPod for one that was stolen?

My iPod was stolen and sold to someone, is there anyway to get a replacement one from apple? I've had it for only about 7 or 8 months. If it's still under protection or whatever can it get replaced or anything? I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything. Anyone know?

• Any way to open and edit .MOD files on iMac?

I am brand new to iMac, after wasting too many years on Windows. I have a Hard Disk camcorder that I uploaded from to my old PC. The movies are in the .MOD extension. I cannot seem to find a program to open and edit them on my new Mac. I used PowerDirector on my old PC, but that program doesn't seem to have a Mac version. Will iMovie be able to handle these files? I have quite a few home movies in this format, and I don't want to lose them! Thanks for your help!

You can use a program called MPEG Streamclip to convert your MOD files to MP4s, which can be imported by iMovie. Also, you can change the mod file extensions to mpg which allows you to view the files with Quicktime (although, at least in my experience, they still need to be converted with MPEG Streamclip to be recognized by iMovie 08).

• Is there any way to get a replacement Ribbon Cable for the Live!Dr

I had a second Li've! and Li've!Dri've hanging around the house, and gave the spare units to a friend of mine. Unfortunately I have been unable to come across the Ribbon cable. We already tried a standard IDE cable, and while it does fit, it didn't work. Does anyone know of somewhere I can get just a replacement cable? I looked on Ebay and found a card with the dri've and the cable for 0$+ shipping, but I don't need the card or the dri've, so I thought i'd try to see what I could find.
