Anyway to smooth out a progress bar?

I'm using a Timer with an event to update data on a page.  I'm also using a progress bar to indicate the next update (every 30 seconds).  Currently I'm using a manual progress bar with setProgress() to increase the value by 1 (max value 30) every second to match the 30 second Timer.  This works fine from a functionality standpoint, but I don't like how the intervals on the progress bar jump in chunks to the next value instead of smoothly progressing to the next value.  Basically the progress bar shows 30 "jumps" instead of smoothly filling in.  I have been looking through documentation as best as I can to find any type of transition or smoothing renderer, but no luck.
I'm using Flash Builder 4 if that helps with suggestions.
thanks

Thanks, your comment just cleared up my thinking a bit.  My timer was set to Timer(1000, 30), making it 30 counts.  I adjusted it to Timer(100, 300), making it 300 jumps, which is much less noticeable for the progress bar's size.

  • Progress Bar Never 100%

    Ok, kind of an odd issue, but I've got a script that can take a considerable amount of time to run due to all the sub-scripts.  Anyway, I've setup a progress bar to work with it so I can tell how far it is.  The only problem is, unless there is an alert or something that pauses the script (like a pop-up), the bar NEVER shows 100% full; even if I use an in-script pause such as the sleep command.  Any ideas how to fix this?  An example script is below and also never reaches 100% filled bar.
    #target photoshop
    var list = ["one", "two", "three", "four", "five", "six"];
    var w = new Window ("palette");
    var progress = progress_bar (w, list.length);
    for (var i = 0; i < list.length; i++) {
        progress.value = i+1;
        // user functions
        $.sleep (400);
    progress.parent.close();
    function progress_bar (w, stop) {
        var pbar = w.add ("progressbar", undefined, 1, stop);
        pbar.preferredSize = [300,20];
        w.show ();
        return pbar;
    I've also tried adding "w.show();" immediately after the "progress.value = i+1;" and still nothing; but like I said, if an alert pauses the script, it will work right.  Any ideas?
    Thanks for any help!

    Lol, ok, now I feel stupid.  I actually found the fix for the issue on my own.  To fix it, simply replace the $.sleep(400); with w.update(); (the sleep is pointless and pretty much just slows down your script).

  • Macintosh HD greyed out and shut down after progress bar complets

    Hello everyone, after i manually closed my macbook by holding the shut down button for 5secs due to an application crush, my macbook pro doesnt seem to be able to boot anymore. It executes the progress bar under the apple  icon on the screen (trying to repair my hd) and after it completes the process, it shuts down. When i press cmd+R, i can see from disk utilities the 500GB hard drive and the macintosh hd. The 500GB total hard drive is normal (even with no problems to fix after running verify and repair) but the Macintosh HD-part is greyed out and verify/repair fail with an error when i click on them. What should i do? i dont think its a hard drive failure. At least, how can i back up my system or some files? from disk utilities the new image function should be executed for the macintosh hd partition and not for the parent 500GB hard disk in order to make a backup, right?

    1) In a Finder window, select the Macintosh HD. Can you see the contents? If yes, you can select to drag over files.
    2) Download SuperDuper (free) When it opens does it recognize the internal drive in the popup? If yes, you will need to make a second portion on your external drive for the clone of your internal drive.
    3) If you can't see the contents or the drive in Finder or SuperDuper then you will need to download and run Mavericks over the internal drive.

  • 10.6.8 update - progress bar not smooth anymore :s

    Basically, after updating to 10.6.8 on my Macbook Air when I move a file over my Local Network over Wifi the progress bar jerks in increments now and doesnt smoothly increase.  I hopw Im explaining it well but it moves then stops for a few seconds, moves then stops for a few seconds.  Its not consistently moving.  It is also say 20 secs slower over a 2.5gb file than my Mini is using the 10.6.7 OS.
    Any ideas anyone?

    Looking into this a little more, it seems that this is not wifi related as it does the same thing moving files to and from my external drive via usb.
    Could this be due to the new TRIM system with SSD's on 10.6.8 and the way it accessing the drive when moving/copying?
    Noone else get this on the Macbook Air 13inch 2010 128GB SSD drive?
    Thanks

  • How can I add a smooth scrolling progress bar? Or make one?

    Hey,
    If you have seen the QuickLook Progress Bar, it moves ever slowly and smoothly, with the little circle showing progress. I know this is called a Scrobble Bar, but I would really like a Link/Code to implement that same one, or one like Windows Media Player 11 (the 2px high, smooth one) **ahhhp, Windows :-(** If anyone can help me.....I would appreciate it.

    Hi,
    I would have thrown a prompt to the user in the renderasJpeg
    function and removed it in last line of convertToImage function.
    Isn't this what you want?
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there anyway to allow keyboard focus for the progress bar?

    You can scroll through a course using the scrolling feature on the progress bar with a mouse. Has anyone customized a swf so the keyboard can be used to move through the slides?

    In answer to your opening question, there doesn't appear to be any way to get further details on Migration Assistant progress.
    Beyond that I have the same situation as you with some very large Virtual Machines.
    In the early part of the migration I was getting estimates of 30+ hours for the 2.6 TB that needed to be transferred but that number went up and down dramatically over time.
    At one point it rose to 88 hours and stayed solid on that number for over an hour, but then did proceed.
    A colleague of mine said he has had the same experience and it appears that the algorithm used to estimate time is just very poorly done.  It appears to look at the overall amount of data and the number of files and then compute an estimate based on how long the various files are actually taking to copy.  When it reaches a very large file that skews the computation grotesquely.
    The net net is just wait it out and those files will eventually copy.
    On the other hand, the reason I came to the support forums is because although after only 20 hours it appears MOST of my files have copied I have now been sitting for 10 hours on a screen that shows only a tiny tick left on the progress and the message saying "About 3 minutes remaining."   After 10 hours, I do not think it is going to make any further progress.  So yeah, I share your original question on how do I get more information on what it is ACTUALLY doing (and how do I get it to unstick)?

  • Directories in finder greyed out, with partially-filled progress bars

    I attempted to use the finder to copy some SSDs to an external hard drive.  Normally I use rsync, and this has never failed me.  This time I decided to use the Finder to do the copy because I wanted to know in advance how long the 1.6TB transfer would take.  When I started the copy operation, the finder told me it would take 16 hours.  I left for Boston, expecting the copy to be done when I returned.  It failed, so I re-started it.
    Very close to the end of the copy of the last two SSDs, I received an alert that my external drive had been disconnected (I hadn't touched it).  However, after physically removing the FW800 cable and reconnecting, the drive re-mounted, and the two directories I was trying again to copy were reconnected with it, but they were greyed out, each one showing a progress bar of the defunct copy operation from the last time.
    How do I get the disk, which has now been properly updated via rsync, to forget this vestigal information from the finder that, apparently, was not enough information to get the Mac to just Do The Right Thing and continue the copy, nor sufficiently self-aware to remove itself after the failed copy?
    What''s the fix?

    Well the strange partially-completed progress bars are gone, but my directories in those directories remain grayed out.  Using the command line, I can easily see the tens of thousands of files in those directories (RAW files from a BlackMagic Cinema Camera for an hour-long event).  But the finder refuses to open the directory.
    Does anybody else have any thoughts on how to tell the Finder "you are confused.  Forget everything you think you know, and just rebuild your knowledge from evidence in the filesystem, rather than your own preconceived notion of what you think should be there"?  Or better yet, how to tell the Finder "never try to be smarter than the filesystem.  Just be a **** GUI and let the file system be the file sytem?"

    OK. I will work backwards.
    You certainly don't want to have to delete apps every time that they need an update, for any number of reasons. Losing data first and foremost would be a drag, but the overall hassle would be absurd. All things being equal, you should be able to update apps in the future after you delete them and reinstall them. I delete and reinstall apps all the time and I am also able to update them when updates are available for the apps. I just wanted to know if you had any success in any fashion installing apps.
    Resyncing/refreshing the Apple ID/iTunes account wouldn't seem to be the issue either if you can download apps or other content from the iStores. Your ID is being accepted.
    That leaves us with I'm not sure what. But I think I would try this trick fix and see if it helps.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.

    I've been having the same problem for days and just solved it. Tried going to Apple ID and had all the same problems you did in the second paragraph. I signed out with my current username on the ipad under settings--->store and signed back in with my oldest apple id and password. Now the apps don't ask for a password to upgrade. I too had a username that wasn't an email address and had to change to one that was at some point. That's what caused the problems. Hope this can work for you.

  • I purchased Lightroom 5 in December 2014.  It was my understanding that I would get free upgrades when new versions come out.  I attempted to download LR 6 and it said that the download was happening but there was no progress bar showing.  I left the down

    I purchased Lightroom 5 in December 2014.  It was my understanding that I would get free upgrades when new versions come out.  I attempted to download LR 6 and it said that the download was happening but there was no progress bar showing.  I left the downloading screen open for 3 hours but nothing happened.

    Robert,
    You can purchase Lightroom 6 as a part of the creative cloud photography package, part of creative cloud, as a stand alone product or as a product upgrade.
    If you purchased lightroom 5 as a perpetual product rather than the creative cloud, you would need to purchase an upgrade to Lightroom 6. Udpates are free for stand alone versions, but upgrades need to be purchased.
    If you need to purchase an upgrade to a perpetual license that you downloaded or purchased at a store, see this link: Products .  Scroll down to lightroom and click "buy". Click on the selectable text by " I want to: "and select "upgrade".
    If you are trying to install Lightroom CC 2016 as a part of a creative cloud subscription, you should be able to download and install Lightroom CC 2015 from the Creative Cloud site. Since Lightroom CC is a new product, it will not show as an update in the Adobe Application Manager. Instead, press the  install button next to Lightroom in the Application manager. If you don't see "install" by Lightroom in the application manager, please first try signing out and back in: sign in and sign out of the Creative Cloud desktop app
    If you still have issues, see option 2 in this link:
    Lightroom doesn't launch or quits automatically after splash screen

  • IMac starts, shuts down - gray screen w/ progress bar

    I have a 2007 iMac and it is now shutting down every time I try and restart it.  I see a gray screen with the apple logo, the spinning wheel and the progress bar upon every restart.  The progress bar never finishes and it shuts down.
    I have restarted with command-option-P-R - same result
    I have restarted with command-S - same result
    I have restarted with command-C - it kept spitting the disc out then it would shut down again
    I have restarted with command-V and it said something about incorrect block counts.  It also at the very end, just before shutting down again said "Disk Full Error" and "killing all processes done".  I had to snap a picture with my phone to see what it actually said since it happened so fast.  I knew the hard drive was almost full and was actually backing up to and external hard drive just before this issue began.
    Is there anyway for me to force the computer to stay on long enough for me to remove some items and free up space?  Like an override somehow?
    Thanks so much in advance for the help!

  • Progress bar for unmarshalling?

    Hi all,
    Can anyone give me an idea on how to track unmarshalling with progress bar.
    Here is a situation: I'm unmarsalling XML file to get my working object(s).
    Object obj = unmarshaller.unmarshal(file)Anyway, for big files I would like to present a user with some progressbar which
    will indicate loading progress.
    Is this doable?
    Thanks

    If you are trying to update the progress bar display when your upload is 10%, 20%, , , x% complete, then you have to 'pretend' that the progress bar display corresponds to the percentage completness of your file upload. I believe that there is no other way to get around this without comprimising the speed of your upload.
    Check out the swing forum, I believe there is a lot of discussion on this topic.

    hello friends,
    Actually i m using jsp filedownload and I am gettting my file in byte array and need to implement a progress bar while downloading file (as IE showing in status bar downloading file size ..% of total file size)...no fake progress bars and no stop gap solutions as like a gif moving with sign "plz wait ..file is downloading "

    You should get your keyboard fixed. There's a lot of letters missing from what you type and it makes it very hard for other people to read. It looks extremely inelegant.
    Anyway, your JSP isn't in control of the download. (You shouldn't have all that Java code in a JSP either but that's a separate issue.) All it does is to send the data to the browser, which is in charge of the download. And in all the browsers I use, there's a box which tells you how far the download has proceeded. No real need for a progress bar, even if you could persuade the browser to make one. Which you can't.
