AP show in WLC but no radio interfaces
I am have a problem with couple of our APs the model is AIR-LAP1131AG-A-K9 and we have a Cisco 4404 WLC. 2 of them show up on the controller but have no radio interfaces. I have a I have restarted the AP, reset to factory config all to no avail. When I restart or reset it does communicate with the controller, but still no a/b/g/n radios.
Anyone have any ideas? Here is a snippet from the log when I restart the AP.
I would appreciate and pointers here.

Hi Rob,
The WLC version is 4.1.171.0. I have been browsing the conversations here and there seems to a few that are having similar issues. I can't find anything related to this except this:
CSCsl90841-After you upgrade a controller to software release 4.2.61.0, any access point that does not have region coding (such as the Airespace 1250 access point) is unable to join the controller. An "Invalid country code" message with a country code of 0xFFFF appears in the output of the debug lwapp events enable command.
Workaround: Downgrade the controller to software release 4.1.
And I am already on that version. This is rather bizarre. I am working from home for the next few day so I can't physically go pull the AP to look at the codes.
It does associate with the controller but it just doesn't show any radio interfaces ie, a/b/g/n.
When I go in and look at that AP on the controller it show everything including the country fine except for the radios. Very confusing.

I installed the update but the "radio" option is not showing up in Music. Anyone else had this issue?
It is only available in the U.S right now. Are you in the U.S.?

I have downloaded iTunes 11.1 but iTunes radio is still not showing up, why is this happening?
Hello there, jrodxo125.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great information about iTunes Radio:
About iTunes Radio
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5848
Keep in mind it is currently available only in the US. Additionally:
To use iTunes Radio, you must have iOS 7 or OS X Lion v10.7 or later, iTunes 11.1, or Apple TV 6.0 or later installed on your device or computer as well as an Apple ID for use in the iTunes Store.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN .
HI All,
I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN . the WLC are providing the HQ and one of the Branches the Wireless services .
Am using all the available 9 SSIDs at the HQ , and am using only 4 of it at the Brnche.
The problem that i have are happening only at the Branch office as i cant room between the SSIDs within Diferent VLANs but i can do it with the one that pointing to the same VLAN. Once the client ( Laptop/Phone ) connected to one of the SSIDs. it imposiible to have him connected to the other ones with Different VLAN. meanwhile, It says its connected to the other SSID but its not getting IP from that pool.
here is the Show Run-Config from my WLC .. and the Problem happening between the SSID AMOBILE and ASTAFF. i have the Debug while am switching between the SSIDs if needed .

In this mode, the clients are still remembers on the WLC until the session timer/idle timer expires. So switching between SSID's in h-reap will not be the same when switching when the AP's are in local mode.
Take a look at the client when connected in FlexConnect in the WLC GUI monitor tab. Thus will show you what ssid and vlan the client is on. Now switch to a different ssid and compare this. It's probably the same because the client has not timed out. Now go back to the other ssid and look again. Now on the WLC, remove or delete the client and then switch to the other ssid at the same time. Or switch SSID's and then remove the client. The client will join the new ssid and in the monitor tab, you should see the info.
There is no need to have clients have multiple SSID's unless your testing. Devices should only have one ssid profile configured to eliminate any connectivity issues from the device wanting to switch SSID's.

WLC "radius server overwrite interface" setting
Hello
I'm looking at using "radius server overwrite interface" on a WLAN as a replacement for Called-Station-ID for Radius to match on SSID.
When I enable "radius server overwrite interface" on a WLAN and join a client to the SSID I can see (via packet capture) that the WLC is correctly sourcing the Radius packets with the WLAN's "dynamic" interface IP Address. The problem is that the Radius server doesn't repond to these requests. Radius is configured with rules to match the new IP address but I see nothing (pass or fail) in the logs.
Interestingly, the packet captures shows the correct NAS IP address (the WLAN interface IP Address) but always shows the WLC hostname as NAS-ID (regardless of NAS-ID settings on the WLAN or WLAN interface)
I've tried WLC software 7.4.110.0, 7.4.121.0 and 7.6.100.0 with the same results but Radius never responds. Radius is Cisco ACS 5.5.0.46. Any ideas as to why this is happening?
Thanks
AndyHi Scott
installed ACS 5.4 0.46.6 and I still have the same problem - ACS doesn't respond to request from WLC when "radius server overwrite interface" is enabled on WLAN and nothing appears in the logs. With "radius server overwrite interface" disabled on the WLAN, authentication is a success and I can see this in the logs.
I had a look a the packet captures I took earlier and the attributes in the Access-Request look ok - the only attribute I wasn't sure about was Message-Authenticator. Found this ietf document http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2869.txt which mentions "silent discards" of Radius packets with non existent or incorrect Message-Authenticator attributes. I'm not sure if this is what I'm seeing on ACS when it receives the "radius server overwrite interface" Access-Request packets. ACS is under contract so I will contact TAC about this.
Mt production ACS cluster was upgraded from latest version of 5.3 to 5.5 with no loss of historic logs (logging after upgrade worked fine also). The upgrade did take a while with the log-collector. When it had completed I checked the Data Upgrade Status under Monitoring configuration and it showed that the upgrade was successful.
Thanks for your help with this.
Cheers

Autonomous 1142 AP shuts down 2.4 radio interface
As we transition buildings to our lightweight infrastructure we're installing new autonomous 1142 APs to fill in gaps and swapping out older 1242s with autonomous 1142s. What we're seeing is that some of these APs, running the latest IOS code available, are shutting down their 2.4 GHz radios. The only thing in the logs is:
%LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to reset
%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to down
The only residual elements that are found (most times) is on the client association page where we'll see what amounts to stale client sessions. There are two flavors of such stale sessions. Associations to open networks show clients with IP addresses of 0.0.0.0, the MAC addresses are still listed, and the state is "Associated". For 802.1x based associations clients show their assigned IP addresses, MAC addresses, and the state appears as "EAP-Associated".
I was looking at some of the open caveats with IOS release 12.4(21a)JY to see if anything matched up with the problem I’m seeing. In the bug toolkit, bug CSCtg09159 (might be related to our problem?) is stated as being “Fixed-in” release 12.4(21a)JHB.
Anyone seen the problem we're seeing? Anyone know when 12.4(21a)JHB is scheduled for release?I'm glad to see that I'm not going crazy.
%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to down
I have had what seems to be the same issue with my 1142N (autonomous; no controller). It will work for a day or so and then all of a sudden the radio(s) will go down (e.g., be disabled). For example, when I came back to the site Radio0-802.11N2.4GHz was disabled while Radio1-802.11N5GHz was enabled. Devices were able to connect to the AP an hour earlier can now no longer find the AP. When this happens the LED on the AP will usually remain light blue which implies, I believe, a connection which is odd considering there are none when this occurs.
I won't be able to reconnect to the 1142N until I reset the AP. Usually I have to pull the power (POE through Cisco injector) to achieve this as issuing a reset from the web management page does not always work.

c1140-k9w7-tar.124-21a.JY
System Software Version:
12.4(21a)JY
Bootloader Version:

Note: "channel least-congested" was enabled by default and is currently enabled.
I've read that the AP can shut down radio(s) based on power but I don't see any power messages in the log. Under System Power Settings of the web management page it reports NON_CISCO-NO_CDP_RECEIVED but the radio(s) work fine for at least a day when the AP is reset. I'm currently using a Cisco AIR-PWRINJ4 injector and I've also tried using the POE port on a Cisco ASA5505. Same issue.
I've had a pending SR with Cisco TAC for over a month and have made it no where fast. I've sent them logs with show controllers d0, show controllers d1, show log and show tech per their request. Having to manually reset my AP every other day is ridiculous! -
Spotify Now Playing out of sync with Radio Interface / Unable to Thumbs Up-Down current song
So this is probably happened 10 or more times and I finally got annoyed enough to record my screen to show it happening. What happens is I will be listening to a song on a spotify radio station (I pay for premium) and decide I don't like it and open up the Spotify UI to thumbs it down. However when I click on the "Radio" sidebar option it won't show the song that is playing even though I KNOW it's playing from the radio. Even worse if I try to advance the track the track it says it's playing in the Radio interface DOES NOT match "Now Playing" in the bottom corner of the UI OR the OS X Notifications. This video only shows the notifications because I didn't want to have to expose more friends names or more private playlists (and radio station) names but the Now Playing matches the OS X Notification. VIDEO PS: Clicking "New Message" while logged out gives you some crypitc message about not having your email verified? WTF? VIDEO PPS: The "Autosaved at XX:XX XX" message above this text box I'm typing in that pops in and out very often is VERY **bleep**ING ANNOYING. Do it below, off to the side, or silently.. good god... VIDEO PPPS: Ok, **bleep** you spotify https://s.joshstrange.com/DoId.png I'll post dropbox links... Way to wait until after uploading them to do any checking...
This is a deeper issue than just that. Queueing songs remotely doesn't work right, just try itRunning radio remotely doesn't allow you to thumbs up tracks because it always displays an off-by-one track (I have to VNC to my mac, where the actual playback is happening)Different parts of the interface (when connected remotely) sometimes display the right information, but none of it is actionable (for example, I'd like to thumbs-up tracks, and thumbs-down tracks from my phone or spotify client on my laptop). This kind of makes creating a good radio station using connect impossible.Connect isn't ready for prime time. It's nice to have, but if I have to connect to the screen of the actual player, it defeats the entire purpose. I don't want a VNC connection open all the time.

I am having unified wireless installation, with WiSM on 6500 at central site and around 90 nos of 1130 APs located at remote locations ( over WAN) as well as some APs locate in the same location.
The APs are configured in WCS, using default AP template.
Alsomot all APs are showing minor alarms saying " radio interface threshold violated".
In addition, a major alarm posted frequently on WCS saying "radion interface down".
Cleints are complaining that they are loosing connectkion momentarily but connected again automatically wo WLAN. But they will have to log in to application programs in such cases.
a.Does anybody have similar experience, and
b. What are the best settings for 1130 APs trhat we have to do explicitly in setting up the WCS template ?
Thanks ,Might be due to interference and the fact that RRM is enalbled and the ap's are changing channels causing the radios to shut down temporarily. Either set the channel or try to change the threshold.
Here is the error info:

Dot11 radio interface reset protocol down
I have a cisco 1400 that that show interface show int dott1 radio interface reset protocol down. I had a surge in the area and had the problem after. I copied the config over to a new Ap and power injector and the problem persists. The bridge is the non root bridge. I had read a caveat cscea75989 but it said take no action. Take no action is not fixing my problem at this time. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
There are a number of known issues on this. One which sounds similar is CSCea45031. Check if you are hitting the same.

Radio interface need to be disabled when antenna is not present?
I have been informed within a training class that the radio interface of an access point should be disabled when an antenna is not present. The reason given was that it would protect the radio from being adversely affected (potetnial for irreparable conditions). Question: 1) Is this true? 2) If so, where can I find supporting documentation on CCO? (I have not been able to find corroboratory information.)
Hi Vincent,
Here is a doc that speaks to this issue ( I don't see this causing irreparable damage but, better safe than sorry :)
Q. If you operate the radio but do not attach the antenna, can you damage the radio?
A. Some radio equipment manufacturers specifically warn against the operation of radios without the attachment of the antenna. Operation without the antenna can damage the transmitter. Most pieces of amateur or commercial radio equipment carry this warning because the equipment operates at a much higher transmitter power. A failure to use a proper antenna or load causes a reflected wave standing wave ratio (SWR) that can damage the final amplifier stage. This final amplifier stage is the power amplifier (PA).
For Cisco Aironet equipment, the transmitter power output is 100 milliwatts (mW) for the 350 Series and 30 mW for the 340 Series. Damage is unlikely, but possible. If you need to run the devices without antennae, turn the transmitter power down to 1.5 mW. Also, you can use a 50/52 ohm dummy load (attenuator) to be safe.
From this good Q & A doc;

The interface type is valid, but the specified interface number is not configured
Hi
I'm all new to using LabVIEW, which I have to use for a project. I'm trying to make a setup with a Keithley 2000 multimeter and an Agilent U2722A SMU. But I can't figure out how to get these instruments to communicate with LabVIEW. I can see and send commands to the Keithley 2000, but not the Agilent U2722A, with Agilent Connection Expert. But when I use LabVIEW I can't see any of them, and if I use the drivers I've found with "NI Instrument Driver Finder - Configure Search" I pops up with an error message saying
"Error -1073807195 occurred at VISA Open in Keithley 2000.lvlib:Initialize.vi->Keithley 2000 Read Multiple.vi?
Possible reason(s):
VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF00A5) The interface type is valid, but the specified interface number is not configured.?"
I've read all the threads I could find about this problem, but none of them helped. I've checked that the NiVi488.dll is checked in MAX under the VISA options. When I open the VISA Interactive Control I see an ASRL1>>ASRL1::INSTR and ASRL10>>ASRL10::INSTR. I don't know why it says ASRL, when I'm using an USB/GPIB interface, but the Keithley 2000 have 10 as the address. (the Agilent U2722A is connected directly by USB)
Assume I know nothing.
ThanksI'm using the GPIB-USB-HS. I also used this on the development PC when I exported the hardware configuration.
This shows up in my MAX config and when I scan instruments, all of them show up. I can query them in MAX no problem.
My installer includes all the .exe's from my project. As I said, I've done this with my previous 2009 installer without any issue. I upgraded my installer since I upgraded my project for version 2013. The error only happens when I run my code.

My photostream in windows 7 PC does not shows any pic. when i click on slide show it start showing me slide shows of pic but when i try to copy files i cant do as no photo is viewd in list mode. This problem has arised since IOS is updated.I reinstalled my icloud and checked if icloud sharing is ON. I can see pic in my photo stream in PC only in slide show mode. While in list mode it shows pics before i actually click on photostream folder. My phone memory is out becose of bunch of photoes. How do i copy my photostream photoes.
Hi all. I can’t tell you how to solve your iCloud 3.x issues. Heck, I don’t think they’re even solvable.
But if you had a previous version of iCloud that was working correctly then I can definitely tell you how to solve the “iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 7 PC” problem. …without even a re-boot.
Log out of iCloud 3.0 and uninstall it.
Open My Computer and then open your C:\ drive. Go to Tools/Folder Options and click on the View tab. Select the “Show hidden…” radio button and click on OK.
Open the Users folder.
Open your user folder
Open ProgramData (previously hidden folder)
Open the Apple folder – not the Apple Computer folder.
Open the Installer Cache folder
In Details view sort on Name
Open the folder for the newest entry for iCloud Control Panel 2.x – probably 2.1.2.8 dated 4/25/2013
Right click on iCloud64.msi and select Install.
When finished, the synching between iCloud and your PC will be back to working perfectly as before the 3.0 fiasco. The pictures will be synched to the same Photostream folder as before the “upgrade”. Now all you need to do is wait until Apple/Microsoft get this thing fixed and working before you try the 3.x upgrade again.
I think the iCloud 3.0 software was written by the same folks who wrote healthcare.gov with the main difference being that healthcare.gov might eventually be made to work.
For those of you who hate to go backwards, think of it as attacking to the rear. Which would you rather have, the frustration of no synching or everything working on an older version?
Good luck… -
Cisco 1142AP Autonomous - Radio interface constantly reset and provides crash file
Hello All,
We have 10 Cisco 1142 Access Points currently configured as Autonomous and I'm experiecing very unusual behavior with the 2.4GHz radio interfaces on each of them. The IOS firmware is 15.2.2JB and they're connected to Cisco 2960 PoE switches. I'm not sure what could be causing this problem however it is service impacting and looks bad on me since I don't have a solution for it. One potential fix could be to upgrade the firmware to 15.2.4 but I'm sure if it is a firmware problem. Any advice would help. Here's an excerpt from the AP log:

there might be something in there that you can do a bug search for.

Aironet C1140 - Radio Interface Keeps in Reset State
Hello,
Recently we noticed that one of our C1142 access points has a radio interface (actually is only happening with the one working in BG, so its dot11radio 0) which is entering in reset state and doesn't leave that state. I've seen an older thread about similar (or equal?) issue but was on a different AP model (C1240 if I remember correctly).
The radio interface controller information displays in the end a reset code:
Last radio reset code: 06
Radio resets - total:1 retries:0 failed:0
Code/Count: 06/00001
Although I was not able to find any information about this reset code in Cisco documents (maybe someone knows where I find it?).
If I try to restart the interface via "shutdown" configuration command it doesn't fix the problem, the workaround that I know of is only by "reload"ing the whole accesspoint.
Of course while in reset state no client can associate to this interface....
Did anyone had similar problem? is there any documented BUG related to this?
Thanks for your time,
Jean-François Mousinho

Radio Interface Reset and Shutdown Frequently
As recently new office from end-Sept, we have found that the radio interface reset very frequently which has been happening about over 15 times within 8 weeks for one AP on average. Some of those (3 AP so far) got the radio interface down eventually and we need to reload the AP to make it up again.
the AP model is AIR-LAP1142N-N-K9 and the IOS version is

Other than IOS, will this radio interface reset and shutdown issue affect by the nearby AP which is not belongs to the same office.

Scenario:
The new office gets 2 floors. One is 5/F which has installed 9 APs with different channels and another one is 6/F which has installed 6 APs with different channels as well. We found that there are many events “%DOT11-4-MAXRETRIES: Packet to client reached max retries, removing the client” logged on 5/F and 6/F AP.
We also found that the radio interface reset very frequently which has been happening about over 15 times within 8 weeks for one AP on average. Some of those (3 AP so far) got the radio interface down eventually and we need to reload the AP to make it up again.
Is/ are there any possibility caused by otherenvironmental factors? Please advise.
Best regards,
Bell
