Apache and directories with spaces

I have apache\quick finder working and indexing multiple volumes & directories on Netware 6.5 SP5. My problem is directories with a space in the name (e.g Harmony Data vice harmonydata). We cannot seem to create an alias for a directory that has a space in it. Is there a way to create an alias for a directory with a space in it?

Hi Gnter and hfr63.
I happened to be looking at this too, and was curious if the alias had a
space in it. I don't know QuickFinder, but why have the space in the
alias? Anyhow, I think best practice would be to encode the space (%20)
in the alias since it will become part of the url.
Alias "/Data%20Files" "vol1:/www/Data Files"
This might work too:
Alias /Data%20Files "vol1:/www/Data Files"

  • Suppress Underscore and replace with Space in FR

    Hi
    Hyperion Financial Reporting 11.1.2.1
    In the excel, with a Essbase add-in, we have an option as Suppress--->Underscore Characters
    This will eliminate the Underscore and replaces with a space
    I want to know if the same functionality exists in the FR Studio
    Any insight would be much appreciated
    Regards
    Tejo jagadeesh

    Sorry, I misread your question. I thought it would be doable though Conditional Format: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/fr_user/ch10s02.html
    Something like this:
    If Member Name > Dimension > contains > _ > Format Cells > Replace >
    But then it replaces the whole member with space which I believe is not something you are looking for.
    One other option is to have another alias table in your database and select the new alias table in FR. I know this is an option for Essbase. I am not so sure about other db connections.
    Cheers,

  • Can I manage custom builds of Apache and PHP with Server Admin?

    Okay, here's the deal: I have a shiny new Xserver Xeon with Leopard Server installed. I see that it comes with a number of programs that I'll need, preinstalled, but for various reasons (extensions and modules for PHP, Apache, and the like), I may need to roll my own builds of several of these programs and libraries. In this case, the main thing I'm concerned with is recompiling Apache and PHP.
    My question is, can I do this and still manage those tools from Server Admin? I'm not averse to doing it on the command line if need be, but I'd just as soon not have to, if I have Server Admin. So, what would I need to do to make sure that I can still use Server Admin with a custom PHP and Apache?

    My main interest is in using Wiki Server with the custom Apache and PHP builds. Since that's managed through Server Admin, I figured it would be best to try and integrate with the Apple tools.
    Apache I could maybe get by without a rebuild, but there are definitely PHP modules I need which the default build does not come with.

  • Runtime.exec() - using cp and files with spaces on unix

    I'm using the Runtime.exec method to copy files in a unix environment. This works fine until there is a file where the name has spaces in it. I've read the article on the pitfalls of using runtime and how it breaks a string on white spaces and this is what is happening. I've also found another topic that was having the same problem, but they were using /usr/bin/dos2unix. I've tried putting quotes around the filename, but it still breaks on the first space. Any suggestions on how to get around this or another way of doing this would be greatly appreciated.
    An example of the os command string is:
    /usr/bin/cp /tmp/file with space.doc /docs
    Thanks!

    Hi!
    Well I dont have any Sun machine right here to try this but in windows It works great.
    Have you tried something like this ?
    import java.io.*;
    public class OSCopy {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            try {
                String space = " ";
                String copycmd = "E:\\cp.cmd";
                String source = "E:\\File with space.txt";
                String destination = "E:\\tmp";
                String cmd = copycmd + space + "\"" + source + "\"" + space + destination;
                System.out.println("cmd: " + cmd);
                Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
                Process copy = runtime.exec( cmd );
                BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader( copy.getInputStream()) );
                String line = null;
                while( (line = reader.readLine()) != null ) {
                    System.out.println( line );
            catch (Exception e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
    cp.cmd is a simple dos copy command
    copy %1 %2

  • Apex Listener/Apache Tomact and filenames with spaces

    I've installed the Apex Listener with Apache Tomcat, and all seems to work fine. Except when I try to do a CSV file data upload via the utilities screen in apex. If the filename/directory path contains spaces, then Apex reports "File Must Be Specified" error - yet if I do this same operation via EPG instead of Tomcat, it works. Are there any restrictions in Tomcat to using spaces??

    Look at this thread. Re: File upload problem

  • Page Up and Down with space bar

    After I installed Safari 3.0.5, when I press the space bar typing this post, the web page goes down. I want to know if somebody else get the same problem, and how do I prevent that? or maybe is a new bug.
    With Safari 3.0.4 this keyboard shortcut works ok. (page up and down) but not when typing.
    Thanks,

    I have the same problem. Everytime i hit the spacebar in this text box, the browser tries to scroll down and looks like flashing.
    Is there any fix for this? It happens in every web page with text box (including the google search box).
    Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot open files and dirs with spaces from most qt-based applications

    Hello,
    I noticed that I can't open any file or folder that have spaces in the path because an error pop-up appears stating that there is no such file or directory, the error includes the full path but it's "urlencoded" in the sense that spaces are replaced with "%20".
    I experienced this behavior in most qt apps: clementine (open containing folder of a song), retroshare, calibre (try to open a book or its folder). Everything works with gtk: pcmanfm, firefox.
    I tried changing the default file manager with xdg-mime (switched from pcmanfm to qtfm) but the result's the same. It really seems that qt is trying to open a urlencoded path and xdg-open produces the error.
    Any idea? qtfm works, even if it is a qt application, maybe because it's qt5?

    I've used, for this, 3 languages on local-gen
    on my config
    pt-br
    pt-br
    en-us
    On my tries, the spaces, on real, were "language symbols" thar are incompreensible to my current language, and, turns into inacessible

  • Find and Replace with space or tab

    Hi,
    I have a text file that has commas separating values. I saved it as a csv, but am not getting the results I need with the csv file. I'd like to replace the commas with a space or a tab.
    I know how to use find replace, but I do not know how to indicate these non-printing characters. I tried the ascii code &#32 for space, but i simply get that string of characters replacing my commas.
    ANy help?
    Thanks

    KW,
    You didn't say what program you were using for the Find and Replace, but I'd suggest that Pages would be your best bet. Spaces can be typed-in directly, and several other non-printing characters can be inserted from a drop-down menu.
    The Insert drop-down seems to be available only in Pages, as opposed to Numbers and TextEdit.

  • Classpath directories with spaces

    when I use the command:
    java -classpath C:\Program Files\netbeans-5.0\ide6\modules\ext;C:\Documents and Settings\Sebastian\My Documents\My Java Projects\AssesmentManager\test\sste DataFileTest
    Is it possible to have spaces in the classpath directory?
    I know it executes well in netbeans IDE.

    Use quotes:
    java -classpath "C:\Program Files\netbeans-5.0\ide6\modules\ext;C:\Documents and Settings\Sebastian\My Documents\My Java Projects\AssesmentManager\test\sste" DataFileTest

  • Files and Directories with *'s

    I have a problem where I moved files and folders from a 10.4.8 G4 server on to a new 10.4.8 G5 Server with XSAN 1.4. Some of these files and folders are part numbers and have *'s in the names. Any directory or file with a * in the name appears normally on the local file system. Over AFP and SMB these files and directory names get clobbered and end up looking like 6 characters ~ and one character, or something like ADQEOI~F. Has anyone ever seen this behavior before? I'd love to just rename all of the files and folders but I'm sure my users will not approve. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    You probably should rename the files.
    A * is specifically not allowed in a file name. What's happening is that the file is stored with the unicode representation of the character. Unicode-aware apps like the Finder can deal with this but most other apps (including the file sharing daemons) cannot and that's why you see the unusual file names.
    You're going to run into all kinds of other problems, too. Renaming your files i the best bet.

  • SQL Query not working for column names with spaces

    Hi People..
    We have a strange situation wherein, the column name in the database table has a space inbetween like "Constant Name". While we write a JDBC statement code with the select query we get an exception for invalid syntax. It will help us in a great way if you have anything to inform us on this..
    Thanks
    Prabz

    Using case sensitive names and names with spaces in it is not a good practice.
    However, I believe the SQL standard accounts for this with quoted identifiers. I believe the syntax is
    . select "My Field1", "My Field2"
    . from "My Table'
    Have also seen the following although it might be MS Access specific.
    . select [My Field1], [My Field2]
    . from [My Table]

  • How do I enter a path with spaces

    In creating a special mail alert there is an option to enter a file to execute. If I put the file in my C;/Program Files (86)... it wont execute because of the spaces. How do I enter the path and filename with spaces. YES, I have tried all sorts of "s and they don't seem to work. Can you give an example.

    I usually find that if use the offered option to browse to the file using the browser/picker provided, all this is taken care of. Thunderbird will use a technique widely emplyed on the web, where spaces are encoded as %20. Other potentially troublesome characters such as slashes and colons will get similar treatment.
    As an aside, 20 is hexadecimal for the decimal value 32, which is the standard value in ASCII and many other encodings for the space character. So %20 is a particular notation that advises that the character with hexadecimal value 20 is to be used.
    In general "C:\Program Files\example\example.txt" ought to work too.
    But your problem may be specific to the particular context. I have had a long standing issue where I want to send a link to a file on a shared network drive and the link sent via Thunderbird has refused to work as an active link. The recipient generally had to copy and paste the provided pathname. This seems to have resolved itself in a recent update of Thunderbird. If you're using an add-on then the problem may be inherent in that add-on, or in a rather obscure difficulty with giving the Thunderbird process access permission to work with local files.

  • [SOLVED] Share Multiple Directories With Samba On Arch Linux and XP

    Hello,
    I have had the worst luck so far with Samba, which is far more likely because of an error on my part than on Samba's.
    I can only seem to share one directory regardless of how I setup my smb.conf. And worse yet, if I mess with Samba, smb.conf, after the first time I set it up it doesn't work again until I reinstall my OS. Now I'm sure that reinstalling isn't the only option, but I haven't figured out how to make it work again any other way. I've tried uninstalling it, deleting it from the cache, deleting /etc/samba and so on, still can't connect to it from XP when I reinstall it.
    I'm running Arch64 and I want to share some directories with a laptop running Windows XP.
    I want to share my home folder, but have it accessible from XP only by me, share my mother's home folder, and have it accessible on XP only by her (well actually I guess it needs to be accessible by both, since i'm the admin), share my media-server (a collection of five hard drives where I store movies and such), and have it read/write by both of us. And finally share /srv so I can work on that from the XP computer as well. I think that's all. And I would like to share printers between the two computers. I would also like to access XP files from here.
    I've always been able to get the media-server to share, but that's it, nothing else. And it doesn't always work right. It doesn't seem to want to follow sym links, but like I say if I mess with it it will stop working all together. So I'm not sure what to do.
    A thought was to instead make a /media/samba-share directory and share that, and inside it have symlinks to my home, media-server, etc. However, that will only work if samba will follow symlinks for me.
    Here is the smb.conf I am planning to use at the moment:
    # This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the
    # smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed
    # here. Samba has a huge number of configurable options (perhaps too
    # many!) most of which are not shown in this example
    # For a step to step guide on installing, configuring and using samba,
    # read the Samba-HOWTO-Collection. This may be obtained from:
    # http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.pdf
    # Many working examples of smb.conf files can be found in the
    # Samba-Guide which is generated daily and can be downloaded from:
    # http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba-Guide.pdf
    # Any line which starts with a ; (semi-colon) or a # (hash)
    # is a comment and is ignored. In this example we will use a #
    # for commentry and a ; for parts of the config file that you
    # may wish to enable
    # NOTE: Whenever you modify this file you should run the command "testparm"
    # to check that you have not made any basic syntactic errors.

    Well it seems that my trouble all started when I began using the 'printable = yes' option for shares. Since I removed that the troubles seem to have left me.
    Does anyone know why that is listed as on option in smb.conf here:
    # A publicly accessible directory, but read only, except for people in
    # the "staff" group
    ;[public]
    ; comment = Public Stuff
    ; path = /home/samba
    ; public = yes
    ; writable = yes
    ; printable = no
    ; write list = @staff
    As well as in a few other examples if it doesn't work? I seen the example and assumed that option was needed to print from those shared directories.
    Also, it seems that the comma is not needed between the 'valid users' names.
    Also, I guess it wasn't Windows XP's fault either but rather my own ignorance. I like the idea of blaming Windows better though.....
    I hope this servers to help others to aviod my mistakes.

    FTP Directories with leading space in the name report "550/No such file/directories" when clicked-on. Works fine in IE and Chrome.

    That is a problem with some IBM servers.
