Apache Listening port

Is there anyway to change the listening port for the default website without messing up the server app??  I have a program that need to run on port 80 for ease of use, however lion listens on all ports because of the default website.
Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

you'd have to edit /etc/apache2/httpd.conf
find the section:
# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
# prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
<IfDefine !MACOSXSERVER>
Listen 80
</IfDefine>
and change from port 80 to whatever it is you desire
will have to restart apache after you save the changes

You may get it by searching the portlist.ini file in the ORACLE_HOME of the product you use.....
So , for instance the following , are the ports those of Dev_Suite_Home:
Oracle Developer Suite HTTP port = 8889
Oracle Developer Suite JMS port = 9240
Oracle Developer Suite RMI port = 23910
Oracle HTTP Server Diagnostic port = 7200
Reports Services bridge port = 14011
Reports Services discoveryService port = 14021But ... note that these ports are valid only at the time of installation....!!!!

    Hello All,
I ran into the exact same issue when configuring WAS 6.0.2, WCS 6.0, MQ 6.0, etc... I will not claim this will resolve everyones issues, but in my case a simple restart of the server was in order, and the MDB started up ok, with the listener port started.
I think it may have something to do with the fact that the "default mode = started" was choosen, but it had not been started yet. But do not quote me on that!
I hope this info helps someone who finds themself in the same situation.

    Debuger,
It does not matter which WLS version I am using (although I'm using 10.3, the one that comes with JDev 11g).
The problem is that SOME OTHER PROCESS on your machine is listening on port 80. Guess you need to go to the Microsoft forums to find out how you can tell what that OTHER, NOT WLS process is.

  • Unable to start a Listener Port on Websphere 6

Im trying to use Websphere6 with a Message Driven Bean.
I dont know if this is Websphere Specific but you have to create a listener port for the server then you reference the listener port in your MDB.
But my server fails to the start the listener port complaining about jndi problems.
TradePort is the name of my ListenerPort and jms/JMSTradePortDestination is the name of my DestinationJNDIName, trade is the name of my MDB.
I havent specified my DestinationJNDIName anywhere else as I understood it it is an arbitary name that the listener will use to accept jms requests.

Listener Port Start Problem, when integrating on WAS6.0 using Websphere MQ Publisher Subscriber

  • Httpd.conf requires Web Cache listening port to be defined - Why?

Can someone tell me why the httpd.conf file requires the Web Cache listening port in its configuration; Port=web_cache_port entry. I.e
    ## httpd.conf -- Apache HTTP server configuration file
    Port 7777
    Listen 7778
    ServiceName http_server.company.com etc...
The reason behind my question is that I thought Web Cache was a stand alone application that just passed requests through to the http server.
This question arose when reading page 6-8 of Oracle9iAS Web Cache - Administration and Deployment Guide - Release 2 (9.0.2)

Thx. Now I know why entering petstore thru' webcache at port 80
    http://blah/petstore/
    returns
    http://blah:7777/petstore/control/....
where 7777 is OHS listening port.
Changing PORT to 80 fixed my problem! i,e. back thru webcache
    http://blah/petstore/control/....
BTW, I managed to killed webcache a couple of times in the last 2 days by changing ports configuration using the Web admin interface at port 4000 and each time I need to reinstall ias903 core on win2k server. How stable is this beast? The EM interface is also very sensitive to editing server.xml etc directly in advanced properties...
See below for info on PORT.
    Cheers.
    http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/core.html#port
    http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/core.html#usecanonicalname
    * The Port directive sets the SERVER_PORT environment variable (for CGI and SSI), and is used when the server must generate a URL that refers to itself (for example when creating an external redirect to itself). This behavior is modified by UseCanonicalName.
The primary behavior of Port should be considered to be similar to that of the ServerName directive. The ServerName and Port together specify what you consider to be the canonical address of the server. (See also UseCanonicalName.)

  • Apache listener

    Hello to all
I have compiled Apache 1-3-1 with the timely indications
of the release notes and is compiled without mistakes and starts
httpd without problems , in the file srm.conf have put the
adecuate alias directives but when I attempt to accede to
directories such as http://server/ows-doc/ , I obtain message of
    not found.
It is accurate to modify something of WRB?.
The take-off sequence that I use is
    dbstart
    lsnrctl start
    owsctl start wrb
    apachectl start
I have observed that to execute owsctl start admin and owsctl
start www , they start the web server Spyglass in the ports 8888
and 81. Must start them also and to effect a redirect? When I
use oracle web listener (Spyglass) operates correctly. What is
    wrong?

  • Cluster interconnect using listening port 8059 + 8060

    Hello,
I have 4 tomcat instances running on a zone which are being redirected to an apache via jkmounts.
One of the tomcats is running on port 8050 and with a listener setup on 8059.
I was wondering why this was the only port Apache wasn't picking up. A tail-f of the catalina.out shows that port 8059 was busy, so it tries to connect the listener to 8060... also busy, so it finally binds to 8061.
Ports 8059 and 8060 are being used by the cluster interconnects as shown in netstat below:

    Hi,
unfortunately the ports used by Sun Cluster are hard wired, su you must cnge your Tomcat port.
    Sorry for the bad news

  • Listener port application server

    Hi,
i changed the listener port in oracle.
where can i change the port in application 10.1.2?

If you are trying to edit the http server port, you need to edit OH/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf configuration file and change the 'Listen' directive to a desired port value. Restart http server for the change to take effect

  • Listening port in oracle app. server 10gR2 in window 2003

    Hi Experts,
How to find a listening port number of app. server?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Check on the midtier home, the %ORACLE_HOME%\Apcahe\Apache\conf\httpd.conf file for port directive. Or if you have SSL-configured on the AS, the check ssl.conf file in the same location for the same directive.
or Alternatively, log on to the EM for midtier. Go to ports and see the Webcache port for listen.
Remember that these will be the listen ports for Webcache. For port where OHS will listen can be obtained by looking for Listen directive in the above files, and on EM, the port listed for OHS Listen (or SSL Listen, in case of SSL).

  • Portconfig error for http listen port

I know that this has been posted alot, I tried to do whatever following all the suggestion in other threads, still no luck.
I installed 10gas (10.1.2) infrastructure 10.1.2 on Solaris 9, and everything was running well. When I tried to change the http listen port from 7777 to 80 following the instruction in the administrator's guide (ch4 Manage port),
log in as root, execute the following command
    # cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin
    # chown root:root .apachectl
    # chmod 6750 .apachectl
log in as the installation user (oracle) and execute the following command to configure ...
    bash-2.05$ $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin/java oracle.sysman.ias.sta.tools.PortConfigCmdLine -oracleHome OARCLE_HOME -oldPort 7777 -newPort 80 -sso -url http://tmsoracle6.tms-hq.com -user root
    Error: Invalid newPort value: 80
Changing the HTTP Server Listen port to a value < 1024 on Unix systems requires that the HTTP Server be changed to run as root. As specified in the the Managing Ports chapter of the Oracle Application Server Adminstrator's Guide, this can be done as follows:
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin
    chown root .apachectl
    chmod 6750 .apachectl
Can anybod help me please? Thanks.
    Jeff

There is only one port for listening, the listen port.
The Port entry is what OHS returns to the browser.
    Example:
Webcache runs on port 80, OHS runs on 7778.
Then Listen is set to 7778, and Port is set to 80.
This will ensure that all URLs constructed for the browser are not pointing to port 7778 even though OHS is internally listening on 7778.

  • Select Listener Port Number from which_table?

I'm writing a SQL script that, among other things, disconnects from Oracle and then reconnects to the same instance as a different user. I'm able to query v$database and v$instance to get most of the information I need (host, service name, etc) for the reconnect part. The only part I'm missing is the listener port number. I could hard code it to 1521, but that isn't very flexible. Currently, I'm prompting the user (which is normally me) for the listener port number in the SQL script, but that just seems a little bit lame. So my question is this: is there a view or table somewhere in the sys schema that I could use to view the listener configuration? I'm mostly working with 10gR2+ databases.

    cleavitt wrote:
That is possible, but it needs to be a standard Oracle configuration if the script is to remain generic and portable. The script is actually working fine as-is. I was just trying to go the extra mile and determine the port number automatically. I could also prompt for a TNSNames entry as suggested by others, but I don't always have an entry defined for all of the Oracle instances in my company on every workstation that I work from.
Here is the script for anyone that is interested. It started out as a script that I found online, but the original did not work with 11g case-sensitive passwords and it only worked for local connections on the server.
    Description:
Allows a DBA user to impersonate another user (without knowing the user's password).
Similar in function to using the SU command in Unix/Linux.
    Note:
This script temporarily changes the impersonated user's password and may cause other
connection attempts by that user to fail during the moment that the temporary password is in effect.

Also, you locked out the legitimate user of this account, until such time as you reset it back to the original. And in the mean time, if this happens to be an account used by some automated process, that process doesn't know the new "temporary" password and runs a risk of locking the account from too many invalid connection attempts. Try to become SYSMAN or DBSNMP from this, and you will very quickly kill OEM.
This has "bad idea" written all over it. What problem is it supposed to be be solving?

  • RDP listening port needs to be changed on one client PC - can't connect via Anywhere Access

We have a setup with Server 2012 Essentials and 10 workstations. We have setup Anywhere Access and is working fine. We have one system (Windows 7 Pro) on the network running AADS Server (use to be called XP Unlimited). This allows several users to logon
to that PC remotely at once as well as someone local using it. This PC needs to be changed from the default 3389 port due to the new AADS Server version requiring it. When ever we change the listening port we cannot remote desktop into this PC. It is available
in Remote Web Access Portal but just sits trying to connect. We have allowed the new connection in the Windows Firewall and even turned the firewall off as a test with no luck.
My question is, can we change the default 3389 port connection that the Server redirects you to for one PC on the network? If not how do you change in the Server to look at another local port for RDP once in the portal?
    Thanks, Jason

    Hi Jboy,
Can you navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Control, Terminal Server, WinStations and RDP-Tcp.  Right click on the PortNumber dword and select Modify.  Change the base to Decimal and enter a new port between 1025 and 65535
that is not already in use. Finally click OK.

  • MDB rollbacks and stops the listener port with error code 2072

    Hi
We have a MDB listening on QUEUE1. This MDB processes the message and puts another message in QUEUE2. Transaction is "required" for this MDB.
The processing could somtime take more than 2 min. We used to get EJB timeout error in this scenario. We changed EJB timeout to 5 min (default was 2 min). This resolved the timeout error. But it started throwing following exception. Note that if the processing takes less than 2 min, MDB never rollbacks.
After this rollack, listener port can not pick up the next message and it throws error (MQJMS2002: failed to get message from MQ queue. MQ Error Code 2072) . It stops as a result and restarts after 60 sec. Even after restart it can not process the messages till we restart the JVM.
Regarding error handling, Backout threshold is 3. If the message is redelivered, we discard this message.
We are using 2 Phase commit for 2 resources MQ (5.3) and MS SQL.
    Websphere version is 5.1.
    Two issues here
    1. Why is MDB rolling back if processing takes more than 2 min.
    2. After the rollback, why is listener port not picking up the messages. Why do we need to recycle the JVM.
Any pointers to resolve this issue?

Have been able to solve this problem? The same occurs in our environment. I have a nagging feelin git has something to do with a known bug that is solved in some fixpack or something. We're on Websphere 5.1.1.4.
    Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • MDB and Database - Listener port stops working

    Hi,
I have created an MDB which does the following when a message is received from the queue.
    1. Store message in database
    2. do some processing
At step 1, if there is any issue with the database connection (e.g. database is not available etc), I rollback transaction. My idea is to leave the message on queue for now and retry it again after some time unless the database is back again. "Maximum retries" of the listener port is set to N but since there is no retry interval available, all N retries are done in a flash and my listener port stops working. I cannot use backout mechanism as I have to wait for the database to be back again. What are my options?

a simple JDBC rollback won't do it.
which app server are you using?
    which jms provider?
