Apache on Linux
We have already had HTTP server running on Apache Linux. How to add JSP support without migrating to Tomcat? My understanding is that Tomcat is a HTTP server by its own rights.
Yes Tomcat is an HTTP Server, however many people choose to keep Apache as the main webserver in order to keep static html page live even if the tomcat server is being restarted or maintained. You can use mod_jk to create a bridge between Apache and Tomcat. It basically sets up relationships between certain paths so that Apache knows to forward those requests to Tomcat. The link below has documenation on how to set this up
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-3.3-doc/mod_jk-howto.html
hope this helps

Dreamweaver created website on Apache/Tao Linux host
I was creating a simple 5 page website based on a DW
template, and once I FTP'd the home page ("Index.html") to the web
host, I recieved an Apache setup screen - as if the file I placed
wasn't read or understood. I renamed the original Index.html back
and the site came up as expected. The original file is a very basic
html file - Is there any known issues with Dreamweaver created
files on host sites using Apache & Tao Linux, and if so is
there a method of preparing the web pages for use on such a site?
Thanks,

WL on Soalris and Apache on Linux
Hi
I'm new to WL and I'm in installation phase. Is it possible to install WL on
Solaris and Apache on Linux (intel cpu)?
If possible is it logical to do it like that (performance and security is
very important)?

Lutfi
[email protected]It is definitely possible, I have the exact same setup running right now.
From a security and performance perspective, however, you'd be better off
using Solaris on both. The only reason I am using Linux in front is cost.

IFS 1.1.5/Oracle Apache Server/Linux
I have just installed iFS 1.1 for Linux on a new installation of Oracle 8.1.7 on Linux. My apologies in advance if my problem has been addressed in another post on this forum, but I have looked through most of the messages without finding someone with the same problem.
After doing all of the installs and then running "ifsapachesetup" to configure the Oracle HTTP server to access iFS, I encountered all sorts of problems trying to run any servlet or JSP using the Apache server, including the iFS servlet (every servlet access said "Internal Server Error".)
To make a long story short, my configuration seems to work now if I remove "servlet.startup=files" from zone.properties in the Apache JServ configuration directory. In other words, the automatic startup seemed to hose the entire JServ instance. (I got many errors saying "cannot connect to localhost:8007 ..." in jserv.log) I tried many different configurations while manually editing the JServ configuration files, and this one seemed to be the only one in which all of the servlets, including iFS, worked correctly. Does this make any sense?
Also, if I tried to run the iFS servlet/JSPs using the newer Apache Tomcat servlet engine, will there be any problems with that? I'm not talking of whether its supported or not, but is it feasible?
nullI messed around with it as well. First apache complained the jserv parameters could not be set twice (JServ option was already included in httpd.conf, so had to remove the duplicate).
Then I had to remove the / /root Ap directive from the jserv configuration file (known bug with the ifsapachesetup script).
Then I found out the link had to be http://myhost/ifs/files.
Next ajp12 came up saying it could not contact port 8001. I installed JDK 1.1.8 at first, which seems to be a nasty wrapper-sort-of version without the tools.jar (??) which are in the wrapper.classpath.
So I installed JDK 1.3, changed the symbolic link in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/jdk and now everything seems to work.
Latest problem in fact WAS related to jdk 1.1.8 (both v1 and v3 didn't work), and although it might not be supported, it works like a dream, just chokes on my memory resources :) -
ClusterCats support for MX 7/Apache 2/Linux(Suse)
The documentation for ClusterCats with regard to MX 7 is
dated. It looks like the last post on ClusterCats support pertains
to 6.1.
See:

Is there ClusterCats (5.x) support for Apache 2 running on
Suse with MX 7 Enterprise running on JRun? If so where is the
documentation?
Thanks,

Applet deploy on Web Server Apache(Linux)
After developing/Testing the Applet on the JDEVELOPER 3.1, I deployed the jar files created by deployment wizard into the Web Server (Apache on Linux 6.0). When running the applet I received error in Apache log file telling me: File does not exist ../ResTable_en_US.class and I know that
this class is not in any of the deployed jar/zip files, but ResTable.class is in one of the deployed file. I receive a lot of missing file with related error.
How can I tell to the applet to look for ResTable.class and not for ResTable_en_US.class?I searched the archives and found this:
It seems others have seen this problem also but intermittently on some machines and not others. One suggested workaround that I found is to Switch off the JIT in Java Plug-in 1.2 !
It works now perfectly.
I hope this applies and helps,

WLS 5.1 sp4 on Redhat 6.2 and Apache 1.3.12
The file mod_wl.so for linux should be available from sp3 onwards but I
installed
WLS 5.1 and then sp4 - it does not contain the Apache-Weblogic bridge share
library for linux.
Any pointers... (I looked in lib/linux/ directory)
Should I install each of the service packs????

Linux.

The Web Agent for Apache not working
Any chances to put the last version of Web Agent (im8154) working with Apache in Linux?
I4m using a Red Hat 6.2 system with Apache 1.3.12 and I compile the web agent without errors. In the some box I use php40 with Apache and I connect and use my Oracle database in another machine without problem.
All the enviroment is set (ORACLE_HOME, LD_LIBRARY_PATH, PATH) and I even put the Apache user running as oracle.dba
The problem is always the some: the Apache don4t find any page (404 in the log) in the /intermedia path. It4s seems that dont fire the web agent module that is compiled (I confirm with httpd -l) into. I can put anything in the httpd.conf in the Intermedia Location section that the symtom is the same: no errors, no logs in ORACLE_HOME/ord/web/log or in the /tmp, nothing at all. Just "Page not Found". But the others Location sections are working like the server-status.
Any ideias people?

Problems with mod_wl.so/Linux/WLS 6.0
Hi,
we're trying to setup apache on linux so that it's forwarding all jsp
requests to Bea WLS 6.0 on Solaris. We've installed the mod_wl.so

/usr/lib/apache/1.3/mod_wl.so uses plain Apache 1.3 +API, this module

and in fact, when we try to load a jsp page we get

Does anyone have a working solution ? Can bea provide us with a plugin

Compile Apache plug-in for WL7.1 SP4
Hi all,
Several advisories of Apache have been published. We would like to acquire the latest Apache version. According to the information of BEA. Apache plug-in of WL71SP4 is only provided for Apache 2.0.42-2.0.49. As a result, a new plug-in is needed: we would like to compile one.
We only have compiled Apache plug-in (with WL71SP4). We cannot find the source in WL71SP4.
Does anyone know how can I compile a Apache plug-in for the latest Apache version? Preferably, we would like to use APXS for the compilation.
Does anyone know if we can use the existing plug-in in latest Apache version? We have encountered problems before -- the plug-in refuses to start and complains about incorrect magic string of the Apache version.
Thank you very much.
Regards.I'm using the mod_wl_ssl.so for Apache on Linux from service pack 5. I
understand that the communication from Apache to WLS will be via http...
that's not the issue.
I think what would solve the issue would be if someone from BEA could post
an httpd.conf file that was configured correctly to use the ssl proxy for
Apach on Linux. Also, I can't seem to get clarification if openssl is or is
not supported.
Can you post a correctly configured httpd.conf file that was used in testing
the ssl proxy as well as confirm whether or not openssl is supported???

Problems with IE w/ Apache bridge
We're recently switched over from IIS as our front end web server to Apache
1.3.12. On our login page for one of our site using IE 4.x / 5.x, we've
noticed this to be extremely slow (about 45 seconds) just to login. Once
you login to the site, the site is very fast. However, this is not the case
with Netscape (4.x/5.x). Netscape works fine all of the time and is very
fast with Apache.
Is there a known bug with IE?
All our login page does is pass username & password parameters to the
weblogic server.
This site doesn't have any problems with Netscape, going directly to the WLS
on the specified port, or when we used IIS. The only time this shows up is
when a user would login. Once they're in, they're flying!
This is only IE related. Is there some sort of odd setting in IE to hold up
a form like this?
Our config looks like this:
Web server: Linux 7.0; Apache 1.3.12 + apache-linux-bridge-sp5
Weblogic Server: Windows 2000, WLS 5.1, sp5
Database
Has anyone seen this before? Thanks for the help everyone, but BEA sent us a beta-version of the new
proxy for Apache on LINUX. This fixed the problem, and should be fixed in
the next service pack.

6.1 SP 2 certificate authenticator fails with Apache plugin and SSL
Hi,
Does anybody have a certificate authenticator working in WebLogic 6.1
SP 2, in combination with the Apache HTTP Server plugin and SSL?
We implemented a certificate authenticator that works correctly in
WebLogic 6.1 SP 2 when we configure SSL with "Client Certificate
Required", and access it directly from a browser (the browser hits the
SSL port of the WebLogic server, like 7002).
This certificate authenticator also works correctly with a proxy web
server. We set up a Stronghold server (web server based on Apache) on
Linux with the Apache HTTP Server plugin from BEA, configured the
plugin to use SSL, and configured our WebLogic 6.1 SP 1 server without
"Client Certificate Required". The certificate authenticator gets the
end user's certificate correctly.
This same architecture with the proxy web server does not work when we
upgrade the WebLogic Server to SP 2. WebLogic Server logs the
"incorrect or missing client cert" error, our certificate
authenticator is never called, and the browser gets a 401 Unauthorized
error.
We looked all over the WebLogic 6.1 SP 2 installation for a newer
version of the plugin (mod_wl_ssl.so) and found the same version as SP
1. We double-checked that it was the Linux-specific installer
(because we'd found that some Linux libraries are missing from the
generic installer). So it appears to us that the plugin encodes the
certificate in the request header in such a way that a SP 1 server can
extract it, but an SP 2 server cannot. We were wondering whether
there might be changes to the plugin to stay in step with the SP 2
server that never got ported to Linux, or whether an updated Linux
plugin never got included in the installer packages.
So: has anybody gotten a system like
Apache/Stronghold + WebLogic Plugin <-- SSL --> WebLogic 6.1 SP 2 +
Cert Auth
to work?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Jim Doyle
[email protected]A correction, I think:
Now that I rolled back a system to 6.1 SP 1, it looks like 6.1 SP 1
does include a different mod_wl_ssl.so from that in SP 2. I believe I
was comparing the wrong file. In fact, trying to compare versions of
the mod_wl_ssl.so makes things rather confusing:
A mod_wl_ssl.so from a straight weblogic610sp2_generic.zip install has
a cksum of "1853014778 1132467".
A mod_wl_ssl.so from a weblogic610sp1_generic.zip install with a
subsequent SP 2 upgrade install has a cksum of "1350917183 1147927".
A mod_wl_ssl.so from a plain 6.1 install with subsequent SP 1 and SP 2
upgrade installs, followed by an SP 2 uninstall and another SP 1
upgrade install, has a cksum of "1471948065 1136501".
I think I may be looking at three different plugin versions here: 6.1,
6.1 SP 1, and 6.1 SP 2, assuming the upgrade installs don't actually
change mod_wl_ssl.so. I'm not sure whether there's an easier way to
verify what version of the plugin you have.
In any case, we did try each plugin version, and none of them works
against a 6.1 SP 2 WebLogic server.

I don't think that BEA supports Apache on NT. For that matter, I don't
think Apache supports Apache on NT. If you don't mind my asking, have you
considered running Apache on Linux or FreeBSD or Solaris/Sparc? IMHO Anyof
those systems would be more stable, supported, and cost-effective than
Apache on NT. (I would even prefer IIS on NT, but generally I suggest
avoiding NT for production web site use.)
