Aperture Stops Posting to Facebook Albums

Hi All:
I have done several searches on this topic, and have yet to see this precise problem. I have several Facebook albums [28]. Aperture sees them all. Up until this week, Aperture had no problem posting additional photos to these albums. But I have the following problem:
1. Aperture 3 fails to add photos to albums [confirmation dialog is active, but no message is returned];
2. Aperture posts to my Wall with no problem;
3. I have deleted the Aperture app from Facebook and reauthenticated it;
4. Neither iPhoto nor iPhoto Exporter is a permitted app on my FB account;
5. I am working with photos from my Aperture library, not my Photo Stream;
6. I have set and re-set the HTTPS settings on FB with no change;
7. I have created new albums on FB from Aperture, but after loading up 1 or 2 photos, Aperture stops loading photos, and refuses to load any more. I can repeat this ad nauseam;
8. I can add photos manually to FB albums, using their web tool, but intertestingly, the file dialog box does not "see" my most recent photo additions to my Aperture library.
This is puzzling. Up until recently, Aperture functioned flawlessly with FB. Not pointing fingers, though my inclination is to blame FB, except for that item #8. Is there potentially something wrong with my APerture library?
Thanks and Happy Holidays!

I just ran a Consolidate Originals (Move) on the library, and that seemed to help. Aperture was able to publish new photos to albums, but, and this seems odd, in the FB Add Photos  dialog box (in Safari). photos I have added to my library over the last few days do not show up in the dialog box [item #8 above].

    Aperture recently started listing Facebook albums multiple times when trying to select an album to share to.

    I've seen this duplication once or twice before - in my case it was with SmugMug.
    Try removing the Facebook account from within Aperture, and then re-adding it. It should resolve the issue.

  • Aperture 3: Posting to facebook fan page or group?

    Hi all, I could't find an option for this. Is there a way to post galleries in aperture 3 to a facebook fan page instead of to my facebook profile?

    Yes I would love if Aperture had an update for this. I know it's possible. Tweetdeck allows you to update the status of your facebok fan pages, so Aperture should be able to figure out how to make albums for your fang pages. Please help, Apple!
    The short text status is of a completely different nature than a photo album.
    I've also seen this request on other forums for non-Apple products and the answer is always the same: The developers say Facebook does not currently provide a way in their API to communicate with the photo albums on Pages, only on personal Profiles. As far as I can tell, all complaints about this need to go to Facebook.

  • Aperture Unauthorized Post to Facebook Timeline

    In Aperture I opened the Facebook folder to view what photos were in there.  I clicked on a few photos to view them and thought nothing of it.  A little while later I'm getting a lot of likes and discovered that a couple of photos were posted to my Facebook timeline.  I can't be certain they were the same ones I clicked on but it is at least as likely as not that they were.  Am I missing something or is this a bug?  I have posted photos to my timeline from Aperture in the past and it plainly indicated that I was making a post.  In this case I just viewed the photos in the folder and there was nothing to indicate that they were being posted to my timeline.

  • Tagging Facebook albums created in Aperture not working

    I'm trying to publish a Facebook album from within Aperture (3.6), and am having trouble getting the tags to stick in Facebook. When I go visit the album on Facebook, the tags are there, but not actually linked to the people. For example My friend John Doe, would be tagged in the photo in grey writing, but it is not a clickable link, and when I go to John's Facebook page, he hasn't been tagged in it.
    I suspect the issue is related to this forum post: Facebook contacts not syncing
    When I go to John Doe's Faces entry, it shows the correct contacts entry.
    When I go to the contacts entry, it has his Facebook profile under the "Facebook" field, but there is no small F under his contact picture, and when I tell os X to update all profile pictures his does not get updated. Also, it seems that my Facebook syncing is not syncing all my Facebook friends, only a select few, who I suspect meet the criteria discussed in the above thread. So, what I suspect is happening, is that Aperture thinks that John's faces entry is connected to a Facebook account (possibly from some legacy link with contacts) but Facebook's new policy is making it so that John's contact is not being synced from Facebook to iCloud.
    I can't figure out a way to manually link his contact card to his Facebook account. Entering his Facebook homepage web address does nothing as far as I can tell.
    Any help would be appreciated. It ***** spending all the time tagging faces in aperture and then having to re-do it in Facebook.
    PS: Running Yosemite, all programs up to date as of nov 22, 2014
    Edited for spelling

    It shows for me within a minute.  I don't have Facebook enabled.  I would:
    - reboot and see if that forces the tieing of any loose ends, and thus allows this feature to work
    - maybe try it on a new Library, or a Library used in another User Account on your machine
    - see if someone who does use Facebook tries the feature and reports on whether it works
    I'm confident Library size/number of Images is not part of the issue, unless you have several thousand named Faces.
    Just to make sure we are "on the same page":  you go to Contacts, select a contact, double-click the picture assigned to that contact, and never see "Faces" in this dialog:

  • LR posted to Facebook is no longer working for me.  Says album name cannot be assigned.

    Before the last update to LR I could post to Facebook via LR with no issues.
    After the update I get the message something to the effect of Album name cannot be assigned.  I have tried with and without spaces in the name and same outcome.
    Any suggestions?

    Don't change the iPhoto album in the facebook section of the source pane - any changes made to those albums will be synced to Facebook

  • Facebook albums stop working

    When iLife 09 first came out I used this feature to upload some albums to facebook and didn't have any issues. Now when I select the Facebook albums from within iPhoto I get an error telling me that there is a problem with the feed or that it's invalid. I've tried re-creating the albums and they upload successfully and then immediately give the same errors (even though the upload successfully.)
    Anyone have any ideas? Any chance it has something to with the recent changes to facebook.com?

    I just got iPhoto 09 today - and I get the same problem as well. Any news on a fix? This is a really great feature that actually spurred me on to buy iLife 09... I need it back!

  • Contextual Share to Facebook Album - Limited Albums Listed

    Using 10.8.2, I am attempting to share several photos to existing albums in Facebook. When I select the photos and pick the Share to Facebook via option-click, I only see a few of my Facebook albums. Why are only a few (not all) listed? How can I make all of them appear?

    I dislike that Aperture creates its own album on Facebook, where it posts your "Wall" photos. Ordinarily wall photos on Facebook are not part of a particular album, and if you uploaded several in a short period of time, they would appear as separate posts, and not as an album update. But if you do it from Aperture, they are grouped together as an album update, which  can ruin the effect. I haven't found a workaround except to export to your desktop (or other folder) and manually upload to the FB wall.

  • IOS 6 not posting to Facebook

    iPhone 5 running 6.1 is not posting to Facebook in the photos app using the Facebook share button. I get the alert sound to indicate when the upload has completed, yet nothing appears on Facebook desktop or mobile sites. This stopped working a few days ago and is very annoying as I can't post into my "iOS photos" album on Facebook by going onto the Facebook app direct.
    Does anyone else have a problem with Facebook share button not working in photos app?!
    Cheers
    Joe

    I have the same problem, more or less. When I post something using share button, the 'woosh' sound comes and no error comes. However, on my profile, it is not visible. Interestingly, it is visible on newsfeed though. Someone really needs to fix this.

  • Aperture 3.1 uses Facebook captions as Version Names

    Not sure whether this has happened due to the u/g to 3.1, but while still running 3.0.3 I exported a set of photos to Facebook.
    By default, the Caption shown in FB is the filename (version name).
    *In FB* I edited the captions but now Aperture is using those captions as the version names of the original photos (i.e. in the Projects, not just in the Facebook albums).
    This is not good, since I now have several photos with the same version name!!!!
    Is the the expected behaviour? I can't find a pref that affects it.
    Anyone else seen this?

    David Riecks has an article on the issues with Aperture and IPTC metadata over at:
    http://digitalassetmanagementnews.org/taxonomy-metadata/aperture-3-removes-iptc- extension-and-plus-embedded-metadata/
    and
    http://www.controlledvocabulary.com/imagedatabases/aperture3.html
    It appears that you are correct in your assertion that Apple (Aperture) does not adhere to the IPTC standard for image metadata. Ad Mr. Riecks points out, this should be of major concern for anyone using Aperture as their image warehouse and then exporting their images out to anyone who does adhere to the IPTC standard as some of your most important data (inclusive of location, identification, rights use, and copyright - aka IPTC Core in Aperture) are essentially lost.
    Very disappointing indeed! Failure to adhere to industry standards are the primary reason I stopped using Windows products and made the migration to Apple.
    Hopefully Aperture will address this in coming releases to include the extraction of Faces data into the IPTC 1.1 Extension Description structure "Person Shown" with an option to extract the Faces data into the IPTC1.1 Extension Models structure "Model Shown" fields.

  • IPad not posting to shared album

    I've been sharing photos on various albums for nearly a year with no problems.
    Suddenly it has stopped working properly.
    When I share a photo from my iPad, I cannot see it on my iPhone shared album and no one else can see it either on that album.
    If I share the same photo, using my iPhone, I can see it on my iPad album and others can see it too.
    I've checked my settings and all toggles are set to green.
    I've rebooted my iPad.
    Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    How are you posting to Facebook?
    As a test select one photo and click on the facebook icon in the toolbar and see how it goes
    Since you tell us absolutely nothing except that it does not work it is impossible to be definitive about an answer
    If you are using the iPhoto FaceBook feature (and there are at least two other ways that you could be "uploading to FaceBook) then selecting a photo(s) and clicking on the Fackbook icon will create a Facebook album under Facebook in the source pane. you can add photos to this album and sync them with FaceBook by dragging them to it and (if sync is set to manual) clicking on the sync icon to the right of the album name
    If you are doing a large album it may take a while to sync and show up on FaceBook - do not quit iPhoto until the sync is comp[lete

  • Facebook albums problem in Lightroom

    Hi, just moved to LR5.7 from Aperture. I've setup the FB publish service, but it only displays 23 of my Facebook albums - I have over 50. Any ideas why it's only displaying a few? I want to publish a photo to an album that is not being displayed. Thank you.

    Hi bcurve8900
    Currently in Facebook Messenger application there are only those options that you mentioned, If you want to trun it off forever then you can simply logout from Facebook messenger application. It won't get any notification from that particular application, whenever you need you login again.
    Click " Like " if you want to Thank someone.

  • Any way to get iPhoto'09 to recognise existing Facebook albums?

    Is there any way to get iPhoto '09 to recognise existing Facebook albums?
    It would be nice to have all the previous albums I've uploaded to be listed in iPhoto and all the 100's of people I've already tagged would serve as a nice basis for the iPhoto face detection to learn who my friends are!

    This is an interesting workaround, but misses the spirit of the original post. I don't know a way to get iPhoto '09 to recognize existing FB albums, but I agree that this is a serious problem with iPhoto '09.
    The iPhoto '09 Facebook and Flickr uploaders have one "cool" feature - they automatically sync iPhotos events with FB "albums" or Flickr "sets", so if you make changes to the photos in iPhoto, then those changes are reflected in the photos on FB and Flickr automagically (this has been working for me in FB but not in Flickr). The more I use this the more I think it's more trouble than it is useful and I wish I could turn it off and just use the old exporters without syncing.
    There are problems with the exporters:
    (1) the constant syncing with FB/Flickr can get annoying if you're making several changes, if you have a slow internet connection or slow computer.
    (2) If you don't actually want the changes to be reflected in the FB/Flickr album (i.e. i delete photos out of iPhoto to make room on my disk for more photos and now the photos are deleted out of facebook) can get not as user friendly as the original Facebook and Flickr exporter was easier and more user-friendly.
    (3) syncing is cool for a computer programmer to do, but what if users don't want it all the time? What if I don't want my Facebook albums to be exactly the same as my iPhoto albums, and I don't want to split out all the photos that I don't want on Facebook into separate events in iPhoto? This lack of support for the truly useful & user friendly (if a bit boring) features is a really unfortunate oversight.
    (3a) in the old version: i can quickly and easily choose exactly which photos from which events I want to upload to FB.
    (3b) as the original questioner mentioned: I can choose whether to upload to into a *new or existing album*. Hands down, this was *the single best feature* of the previous uploaders.
    (in Flickr this is of paramount importance since the free Flickr account only allows 3 "sets" - so, since this fancy iPhoto syncing links your events to sets in Flickr, you'd have to create 3 massive Flickr-only events in iPhoto in order to stay within their restrictions. I like to keep my iPhotos events separate, but I'm perfectly happy uploading photos from different events into one of my three Flickr sets. i'm pretty sure i can still do this with FFXporter or similar.)
    (3b) in the old version: all the photos i upload are put into a "pending" album on FB so that I can tag people, delete some photos (without deleting them off my own iPhoto), etc. before sharing them with all my friends. I'd like to have at least the option to choose whether they go into a pending album first or not.
    (3c) it's further annoying that you cannot browse your iPhoto library directly (from most websites) when searching for photos to upload, you have to export the files first, then browse to where the photos were exported.
