APEX hosted site slow response issues

Hi,
Is anyone else experiencing slow response issues when navigating through the hosted (apex.oracle.com) APEX site. About a 2-3 weeks ago we started noticing that it takes a long time to log into the site as well as navigate through anything
This might sound odd but often times how we would workaround it is by repeatedly "re-clicking" a link or a button to get the page to return. Whenever the site is slow in respnding we wound see "Waiting for apex.oracle.com" in the browser's bottom console.
We see the same issue with IE or Firefox and its only the apex.oracle.com site that has this problem.

As I posted on another thread:
Sorry for the lack of a reply here. With the long holiday in the U.S. and then my past two days of this week, spending at least a half a day each on apex.oracle.com, I haven't been paying attention to the discussion forums. I was unaware of this active thread.
Don't worry Ben, I'm not going to say "It's fine for me". TKyte had identified a bug or two in Ask Tom over the weekend, and I tried to fix them on Monday morning. What should have taken me 10 minutes took me two hours.
This has been my top priority for the past two days. There are some networking issues still being researched. A configuration change was made earlier today which seems to have alleviated the issue, but I'm not convinced that it will be a permanent fix.
Understand that this has not been a database issue nor an Application Express issue. Every time the performance was glacial, both yesterday and today, I examined the database and there was hardly anything going on. It was a hardware (filer) issue a month ago, and it appears to be either firewall or network card or network issue or all three. Regardless, I am embarrassed for Oracle's sake - this should be our flagship for Oracle Application Express, and the past month or two of poor performance can only serve to dissuade from using Oracle and Oracle Application Express.

  • APEX_MAIL support on Oracle's free APEX hosting site

Did anybody know the status of APEX_MAIL support on Oracle's free APEX hosting site (http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=....)?
I tested the following 'after submit' process in a testing APEX page without any error message.
    begin
    APEX_MAIL.SEND (
    p_to => 'my_email_address',
    p_from => 'my_email_address',
p_body => 'This is a test from APEX form button -- number 5',
    p_subj => 'Test Subject ');
    end;
But I did not receive the email.

I tried different hotmail and yahoo mail addresses.
If p_to and p_from were the same hotmail email addresses, the emails would be lost.
if p_to and p_from were the same yahoo email addresses, the emails would be received.
This is something caused by hotmail.
The test can be done in SQL commands screen.
    APEX_MAIL.PUSH_QUEUE ('localhost',25) did work beautifully.
You could see the message as follows in the SQL commands screen.
    Pushing email 4600499720366254834

  • Internally hosted sites slow to load through proxy...

    Hi Everyone,
We're having some issues with internally hosted sites and apps loading slowly while on the internal network. We host a Moodle site, a Joomla site, an Exchange 2007 mail server (sorry, no more GW), and a Senior Systems server. All of these, except for the Joomla site, have an SSL cert from either GoDaddy or Verasign. If you're outside of our network the sites load just fine.
We're running a Netware 6.5 SP2 box with BM 3.8 on it and use the proxy. We use both IE 8 and Firefox (from 3.0 to 3.6) with either manual proxy settings with exemptions for the above sites, or a PAC file with the same exemptions. I don't believe the PAC file is the issue as the slowness still happens when configuring the proxy manually within the browsers. When a user tries to go to one of the above sites while on our network, the pages won't load for around 5-10 seconds. The browser will say it's connected to the site, but it just sits - and then the page will just pop into place. The Senior Systems server is particularly bad, as at times only the background color loads and a few minutes later the login box will load.
We have our DNS and DHCP servers running on Windows Server 2003 boxes.
    Thanks in advance,

so if i understood correctly, you do not use proxy to access this sites
    from inside, correct?
But traffic is still going thru bm, correct?
otherwise i do not understand why bm is on blame of the slowness. As
logn as you do not use the proxy, bm is not involved.
Best approach will be to take a lan trace and see where the delay happens.

  • A Typical Nseries Slow Response Issue (Esp. To Nok...

I had this both on N73 & N93. I did not have this issue on my N95 yet, but I recently updated firmware to V30. May be the firmware installation is relatively new, the same issue has not happened yet on N95.
When you first start using the Nseries phone, it works relatively fast. Menus are fine. It is not that fast, I know, but it is fine.
But after couple months of normal using, I am not talking about installing so many applications, or having the memory card filled up full, just a normal use, the phone's operating system starts to slow down. This has always been an issue with Nseries.
What happens is that, in time, there is a slow menu response, menu lag, and esp. the phone lags when it is waking up from standby screen (screen saver).
This is also really weird: The phone goes in to the standby mode, the display is turned off, the bar showing the date and time appears, and the phone goes to sleep. (You can choose the time from setting menu). Now press a button to do something let's say, enter in to contacts, the phone phone can't wake up fast. It lags several seconds before it enters to, let's say, "Contacts."
Once you start using the phone, it is fast again, but it is that very moment, when it is first waking up from standby, turning on screen and all, adjusting the brightness, when you try to do someting at that very moment, it acts slower, kind of, well, it hangs... It does not do this when the phone's OS is fresh, it starts to do this in time.
Anyone had an idea why this may be happening? There must be a reason for this.
The easiest solution for this is to "Reset" the phone. And your phone goes back to it's brand new stage and yes, the phone works fine for a couple of weeks or months but then, same thing happenes again. And it is really pain it the ***** to reset the phone, re-install everything. It is really time consuming.
I guess we will have to live with that. I have never found a solid answer or a solution to this other than "resetting" or "updating" the phone's firmware. But may be I was thinking, may be someone knows what to do to trick the phone and avoid this really annoying "slow responses", "lags", or "temporary hangs".
    Thanks In Advance.

    This is what I do:
    1) When I get a new phone I boot it up. Let it finish the initial boot. Then Open Music Player, Video player, Photos, Video Center, Gallery, Camera,e tc. and check that everything seems fine.
    2) I make a Back-up using content copier or now OVI.
    3) I install only applications that I've tested and research that are not causing problems to the phone. If I'm trying some "unknown" application I'm always careful to make a recovery backup before I install so I can return.
    4) Back up frequently Contacts, Pictures, Videos and other important stuff.
    5) If the phone becomes unstable, memory fills up or something weird, then I reset and restore either the last known good backup point or the intial "new" backup I did in point 2)
In my experience the best way to keep the phone working properly is NOT to load a bunch of applications of unknown quality or origin. SPECIALLY keep away from unsigned applications. The fact that they're unsigned means that there have been NO testing done by any official source and there are NO guarantees that this will not break or damage your phone!.

  • Newly deployed apex application - very slow response time reported.

Hi, we just deployed an APEX application on January 4th. It is used up and down the east coast to track commercially caught fish. There are currently about 375 users. Most are accessing via cable or dsl. Many are complaining of speed issues. Is there something that can be done locally on their machines to help.
The application is complex and often must process through loops of data depending on the port, species, state reqs. Each of the queries has been run through the db tool that examines how optimal they are, and all run within seconds.
Since the system is new, we are concerned that people will become frustrated and stop using it. ANy suggestions are appreciated. It was a 2yr project and had been in a test environment for 6 months.
    thanks, Karen

What I would suggest is, the agents could try pinging the server that you are hosting the apps on, to see how long the ping takes to return. It maybe that the server is producing the pages fine, but the traffic is getting jammed on the way to the port agent..
Just as an example, there have been severe issues with using Oracle's hosted instance of apex in the past 6-9 months. It's not an always occurrence, but for some folks it takes FOREVER to load the applications builder or even pages in the builder. The database server is performing fine, but the app server seems to be having issues, from what I gathered in one of the last messages from Oracle on the subject..
You could try going outside your building and accessing your app in a similar fashion that your customers do..
    Thank you,

  • WebLogic-SOA Server Dashboard slow response Issue

It is taking more than 2 minutes to load my Dashboard when I click on SOA-INFRA(SOA Server), It seems it is loading half million instances from Dehydration store. That is the count of total 6 months data. Is there any way I can restrict to load small amount of data to quickly bring the Dashboard?
    Thanks

Probably worth posting this to the SOA or BPEL forum. The dehydration store is an artifact specific to the BPEL engine so it's something the folks in that forum will likely have a much deeper level of knowledge about.

  • Apex hosting 4 gbytes price per year?

    Hi all,
Where can be found apex hosting with stable
IP address, 4 gbytes, minimum one year?
    thanks in advance

I second the idea to not judge service by website design. I made that mistake. I first signed up with someone who's website design is very professional. After dealing with their support staff, it became very apparent that they don't really support APEX. Here's an excerpt from a trouble ticket to see what I mean:
    <em><strong>My Original Problem</strong>
Can't execute stored procedure as URL
I've been in contact with you via email on this. I have not receive any reply for the past few days. Thought I'd switch this to a trouble ticket to get some visibility.
In my last email, I said:
What I'm trying to accomplish is to store data in a BLOB column in the database. Then using some HTP calls in my package, it sends the data back to the browser (Denes Kubicek's method). This allows me to use simple html tags in the apex pages to go directly to the URL for the package. I've tried several other methods, but this is the only one I've found that gives me such precise control over how the data gets presented on the page.
I'm just wondering if you can help me with this or not.
You can see what I'm talking about on page 2-21 and 2-22 in the Oracle Application Express Administration Guide Release 3.1.2 E12856-01.

    Hello,

Re : Can't execute stored procedure as URL
I think I made a mistake by including the information that I used to fix the problem on my development server.
Going back to my original problem: I am receiving a 403 Forbidden error with the following URL: http.www.somenonsense.xyz/pls/apex/my_package.jpg?img_id=31
This is a permission issue on your server.

Re : Can't execute stored procedure as URL
Hello, unfortunately this procedure does not work in our environment.
We are seeing [Tue Nov 04 01:06:47 2008] [error] [client 24.46.67.250] mod_plsql: /pls/apex/mypackage.jpg HTTP-403 It is forbidden to call this procedure directly from the browser!
You are the only client asking this change, therefore we can not risk breaking working APEX for 1 request.
If you'd like money back , we fully understand</em>
I'm sure that the hosting company's many other hosting services like mySQL are better supported, but I'd never go back to them as an APEX hosting site. So, I would suggest that you contact the support of any hosting site you are considering for APEX and ask some questions. I did this with maxapex and got very good response times from them. I actually was able to hold an email conversation with their support over a number of days. That might mean they're a smaller company, but APEX is the only thing they do, so they know it really well.

  • Sound issues; slow response; usb ports unreliable and sd reader not working

The PC is a HP TouchSmart envy about 18 months old. Soon after purchasing I upgraded to Win 8.1.
About three or four months -ago probably after a Win update was installed- I began to have Sound issues (including not able to conect my external powered speakers any more- they used to work brilliantly and initially no sound at all but I went into settings and changed something and every now and again I have to do that again to get the PC speakers to work) ; slow response; usb ports unreliable, sd reader not working- as well as issues with the internet - the modem actually. It is easier to get on to a tablet and use the internet as my PC can be really slow. As well I have uninstalled Chrome and am using Explorer as this seems a little better but I miss Chrome.
I was advised by tech at Hervey Norman that I had to do a complete system restore but in order to do that I would need the recovery discs from HP? Is that correct? How do I do this?
PS I did not make recovery discs when I first purchased the machine. (Very sad!!!)
    Help!!!
    Alfriston

    Hi again Alfriston,
    Thank you for the clarification!
To return your computer's audio back to functional order, I recommend removing the audio driver from the operating system previous to upgrading to Windows 8.1, and installing the driver provided in this link.
If re-installing the driver does not resolve the issue, I suggest following the steps in this document on No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 8).
In regards to the USB ports, I recommend following this resource on Troubleshooting USB Connections (Windows 8), which should help consistently connect your USB devices to your computer.
To prevent your computer from lagging or responding in a slow manner, please follow the step in this document on Resolving Slow System Performance (Windows 8) to help improve the speed and efficiency of the operating system.
To further diagnose the issue with your desktop's SD card reader, I recommend following this resource on Using and Troubleshooting Memory Card Readers (Windows 8).
If your desktop still experiences issues with the audio, USB connections, speed and performance, as well as the SD card reader, I recommend returning your system back to a previous restore point. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8).
Should the problem continue, I suggest performing a backup and recovery of your operating system. This can be done by following the steps in this resource on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), as well as Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 8). This should return your system back to factory defaults.

  • Random users getting very slow response when opening messages/attachments or sending email

I have a small number of users, mostly very senior management of course, who are experiencing slow response when trying to open email messages and attachments or send messages.
They see the spinning wheel and sit there until it decides to open or send. If the message is opened  and closed again you would expect it to be quick reopening the same message, no, it does the same thing again.
These users are all using Outlook 2010 and their mail accounts are on Exchange 2013. It does not seem to make a difference if they use a physical machine or log into a VDI.
I do not have the same issue generally, though I have experienced this when using VDI and this has been seen using a number of different machine pools so it is not a specific pool.
This is not specifically a VDI issue, as the 3rd paragraph says, the issues are seen on both physical and virtual machines.
none of the mailboxes are particularly large, most are at around 60% of quota limit, and the same limit applies to almost all mailboxes across the organization. They also do not appear to have a huge number of messages stored, other users without issues
have larger mailboxes and higher item counts. Any ideas what I need to look at to address this?

    Hi,
    How about OWA?
If OWA works well, it seems an issue on the Outlook client side.
Please try to run Outlook under safe mode and re-create profile for testing.
Any related error/warning/information message left in App Log?
    Also consider the network Bandwidth.

  • Apex is too slow to login and run report

    Hello Expert,
I am working to fix a problem with APEX is extremely slow to login. It might take 3 to 5 min for the login to show up and it takes forever to load the reports on the screeen that has 1000's of rows. And when it comes to clik on the button to move from tabs in the application, or select a drop down menu, it takes forever.
can any one suggest a solution to this problem? Is anyone experience this at their work environment and what can I do? If I am working on the same application in Development Environment, it is a little bit faster, it dosn't take that long as it takes in production.
Your suggestions is much needed and appreciated.

Without knowing what version of the database & APEX it is kinda hard to even fathom where your issue is...
Are you having issues just getting a user logged in or is it a combination of logging in then running the report?
Have you tried running the query OUTSIDE APEX in TOAD or SQL Developer?
Can you post some information on what the query looks like?  Maybe even post a sample of the code on the Hosted Oracle Instance?

  • EJB slow response time in cluster

We have 2 clusters : cluster 1(3 managed servers) and cluster2( 2 managed servers). We have an EJB deployed on cluster2 which is being called by an application on cluster1. Issue is that this EJB gives a very slow response time (in the order of minutes). There are no errors or exceptions in the logs.
When we shut down one of the nodes on cluster2, the respose from the same EJB is very fast. Please help as to where we should look out for the issue?

Could be that you have a network configuration problem. The source of the problem is how host names and IP addresses are resolved,
and there is a workaround. RMI and other naming services use the InetAddress class to obtain resolved host names and IP addresses.
InetAddress caches lookup results to improve subsequent calls, but when it is passed a new IP address or host name, it performs a
cross-reference between the IP address and the host name to prevent address spoofing. If you supply the host name as an IP address,
InetAddress still tries to verify the name of the host. To workaround this problem, include the host name and IP address in the
hosts file on the client, for example,
    127.0.0.1           localhost
    172.30.0.129      SomeWebLogicServerHostName
    172.30.0.130      SomeOtherWebLogicServerHostName

  • Are there touch response issues on Air 2 or iOS 8

Ever since I got my Air 2 (on day of release) it has seemed to have slow response to touch.  Now, I did not notice any issue with touch response while setting up the device.  But obviously that is a very limited time frame for testing something I didn't know I should pay attention.  But it seems like my new Air 2 is being particularly sluggish to touch response all across the board and in all apps.  And I thought the Air 2 was supposed to have even better touch sensitivity than previous iDevices.  Or could this may be an issue with iOS 8 or later.  Obviously no way to test an Air 2 on and earlier iOS.
I know one thing I could try is to setup the Air 2 as a new device.  (I did setup the device from a backup originally).  But I really don't think I should have to lose all my settings and manually setup hundreds of apps to have a properly working new iPad.
Anyone else having this issue.  I have seen a few message boards on other sites that suggest other are running into similar problems.
    Ryan
EDIT ADDITION:  I also have noticed from time to time that Safari will not allow clicking on Google links.  I have to rotate the device and then rotate it back to get a response to google links.  Thought I should add that.
    iPad Air 2
    64Gb
    Model MH182LL/A
    iOS Ver: 8.1 (12B410)

I experience the same problems: especially in safari-websites where you can flick through pics. But als on sites where there are action buttons or tapping the X to terminate popup screens
Did everything: reset settings, complete factory reset (several times). Went to the apple store in the end. There they completely reinstalled the software.
Unfortunately this didn't resolve these more than annoying touch issues!! Strange thing is that my new ipad mini 3 has exact the same problems. It is most noticeable on safari website where you can scroll through pictures by tapping on eihter site of the pic. It works for a few pics, but then the screen freezes. Even in such a way you can't scroll the screen anymore.
The air 2 is fast and looks/feels great, but this touch issue makes it an almost impossible tablet! I'm an apple addict, so I trust Apple wil fix this.
I run ios 8.1.2 on both the Air 2 en Mini 3. Done all the reset options and have the software reinstalled by Apple in the apple store.
    Has anyone have any suggestions??

  • Troubleshooting slow response to email via vpn

I've just adopted a vpn 3000 concentrator, and am totally learing this, so my apologies.
What could be reasons within a VPN enviroment that people are having slow response to email. (excluding issues with servers)
From a network perspective I can trouble shoot slow response, but how would a vpn enviroment be any more different to troubleshoot.
Naturally VPN is going to be much much slower, but taking 10 minutes for multiple users to get their email seems odd. LAN users get there email within seconds

    Hi:
I'll tell you, I used to have the exact same problem at my last company.
We had an Exchange server for email and everyone used Cisco's VPN client.
Email was so slow, it was ridiculous sometimes. Everything else was OK, though. Other applications were OK, and network management was also good. It was just Exchange.
I know that Exchange is notorious for being delay intolerant, but this was bad! and it seemed to get worse with time.
Anyway, I dont know if you have done any troubleshooting yet or not, but you would definitely want to focus on the MTU settings for the VPN connection. Remember that IPSec adds overhead that may cause the ethernet frame to exceed the network's allowable MTU, so the packets get fragmented and reassembled at the receiving end. This can be a very slow process. And some applications are not very tolerant of fragmentation, like SQL and, I think, Exchange, too.
The problem with client VPN is that you would have to adjust each user's PC MTU. With site-to-site VPN, you can, of course, set the maximum segment size of the entire tunnel, so all users sitting behind the tunnel will be forced to conform to the tunnel's stips.
But you can try doing that on a few PCs to see if anything changes. I changed the PCs MTU using freeware called DR. TCP/IP. You can download it for free and it will allow you to change the PCs MTU very easily -- just a few keystrokes, instead of having to go into the registry and get stupid with Windows.
Change the output segment size for the PC to, say, 1400, and see if that improves anything. You would also want to change it on the 3000. I forgot how to do it on the 3000.

  • Outlook Exchange Directory Connection - Slow Response

    Hi All
We are in process of migrating from Exchange 2007 to 2013. Clients are Outlook 2013.
Users who are migrated to 2013 are experiencing outlook timeouts regularly throughout day (we do not run in cache mode).
I am noticing that Outlook Connection is reporting slow response times for Exchange Directory connection (screen shot shown below) i.e. 1000ms or above. All other connections are fine.
When outlook times out - I notice that connection to Exchange Directory is the one that times out also.
I suspect a GC / DC issue - perhaps Exchange is querying GCs outside of site? and that's causing timeout? WAN connections between sites are slow (1.5Mb or below).
But my AD team tells me there is nothing wrong with infrastructure. :-)
Could someone assist me in identifying the cause?
    Thanks in advance
    Anthony

    Hi Anthony,
Please use OWA to check whether the migration completed successfully.
I noticed that you are not under the Exchange Cached mode, please try to turn it to Exchange Cached mode to have a test.
Please try to run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
I also found an related blog, collect some information for your reference:
These default Keep-Alive intervals are NOTs home networking devices and/or aggressive network devices on the Internet. Some of those devices are dropping TCP connections after as little as 5 minutes (300 seconds)
of inactivity.  When one or both of the two default connections are dropped, the connection to the Exchange server is essentially broken and not useable.
To address this issue, we are recommending setting a registry key on the Exchange CAS to change the default Keep-Alive from 15 minutes (900 seconds) to 2 minutes (120 seconds):HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
    NT\RPC
