Apex long time waiting! APEX + COCOON = PDF Carl's blog

Hello!
Help me, please!
I need to print reports in PDF.
What I did:
1 I installed Apache Tomcat 6.0.14
2 I installed Cocoon 2.1.10
All works fine! http://localhost:8080/Cocoon opened OK
3 I copied fop_post to \apache-tomcat-6.0.14\webapps\cocoon\ , now I have apache-tomcat-6.0.14\webapps\cocoon\fop_post\sitemap.xmap
4 In apex I choose : Oracle BI Publiser - Standart Support
print server host address 192.168.1.112
print server port 8080
print server script \cocoon\fop_post\
Now I make simple report consists from 1 column from a simple table like emp table, and choose.
Output format - PDF
Report Layout - Default Report Layout
Apex is English.
I read that can be problem if I'll write use point in (example) 0.5 and everywhere I used 1.
When I run the programm and click print button I have error message : Acrobat could not open 'a[1].pdf' because is either not a supported file type or because
the file has been damage ......
I saved this file and opened with text editor but there was nothing and size of this file is 0 kb.
HEINZ, show me to slash/backslash and after I change to /cocoon/fop_post/ appear new problem: now APEX LONG TIME WAITING AND DO NOTHING.
PLEASE, explain me where is problem and how to solve it?
Thank you!!!

Hello,
It's seems that the version of Apache coming with Oracle 9.2 is used instead of Apache-Tomcat is a normal behavior?Ok just so this is up front , what Oracle ships and my Cocoon setup are two different things and shouldn't effect each other.
The only place the Cocoon server and APEX should touch is the print server URL set in the Instance Administration . The link in the page should look like it goes to your APEX instance, the first one, because what it does is tell the APEX instance to post the XML to the print server
When we manually change the port number to So your doing this by hand and trying to use in a browser locations bar , this will not work it's not supposed to work that. Or did you actually change your print server URL in Instance Administration
What do your Tomcat logs say? If they don't say anything then the XML post isn't even touching Tomcat / Cocoon.
I'll try and help out as much as I can but I've done multiple installations of Cocoon and APEX and each has worked everytime as advertised, well one didn't work and that was when I messed up the URL in Instance Administration and most people that's the problem they have, either wrong/extra slash's or misspelling or just forgetting to do it.

Carl

  • Takes a long time to Generate a PDF from Frame 9. Why?

It takes approximately 1 hour to generate a PDF from a 200 page Frame 9 doc (PDF file size Standard). There are lots of xrefs in the doc (more than 1500) but taking one hour to generate a PDF seems unusual. I remember the Frame 5 days when it took only minutes to generate large PDFs.

It might help to know your system configuration. I have experienced such long times for PDF creation, when using FM9 in Parallels/Win XP Pro and saving to a shared volume on the same Mac. Now we are saving all documents (including PDFs) to a server, and we're back to PDFs in minutes

  • E50 long time waiting during update

Hello. I have an e50 and software version is 6.27.1.0
I want update to 7.13.0.0 but when update step is 3/3 (Preparing installation) waiting very long time.
    There is a problem?
I'm waiting 20 mins yet and not a progress.
    Regards.
    http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/679/nokiaxz5.jpg

Alright, got it figured out! After searching for "Preparing installation" I found some more posts with the same problem, and apparently, as long as you can still access the menu and the software is only preparing it's no problem to disconnect the phone.
I disconnected, rebooted Windows, and then redid the whole procedure, and the "preparing"-part went over to the actual installation (during which the phone apparently powers down) within 30 seconds. Installation then took about 10 mins for me.

  • Data upload takes long time in Apex 4.1

    Hi ,
We are using data upload wizard in APEX 4.1. It is taking too long while going from Mapping to validation page. We tried with a file which has 34000 records and 5 columns. It takes more than an hour to load.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Andy

You're going to need to provide more information before people can help.
    eg:
    What's your table structure?
Does it have any indexes or constraints?
What sort of mapping are you doing?
    Do these tables have indexes?

  • Long time waiting when attaching a picture to sending mail

    Hi to all!
I discovered that when i am trying to attaching a picture .jpg file even if this 30-50 kb only file, there is a long waiting time with color wheel (about 1.30-2 min) before picture will attach. But when i trying to attach another one new picture file there is everything ok.
What is the problem may be and how to repair it?
    Thanks!

Well, i am discovered that there is may be conflict with NAT of PARALLELS (OS emulation software) which i have installed on my Mac.
I just deactivate "Parallels NAT" and "Parallels Host-Guest" network interfaces and rise my Ethernet network first and problem now is solved.!
    Thanks to all!

  • Long time waiting , delivery message by jdbc receiver adapter

    this is a test case.
There are two large messages for two outbound interfaces, both about 50 000 lines txt files.
    Both receiver is database.
There is a queue about 10 minute to wait.
Is it OK? How can I supposed to do?
Does it makes any difference if I use different communication channel?
Edited by: Shen Peng on Jun 9, 2009 10:20 AM

    Hi,
In the insert structure of your JDBC the statement name node should be 0... unbounded.
Map your source structure row node ( which occurs 50,000 times for 50,000 records ) to statementname node. Check SAP help link for more details
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/14/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
As a result of this your interface will be triggered only once and it will fire 50,000 insert querys at back end.
This will improve your performance considerably instead of firing interface 50,000 times.
    Hope this helps.

  • R12 - long time waiting for coming out new responsibility's menu

    Hi,
I'm using EBS r12.1.2 now and I encountered an issue that when I assign a new respponsibility to anyone, then that user logs on the EBS and find that that responsibility menu is not yet shown until more than half an hour. I want to ask how I can set to shorten this waiting time, because it is too time consuming to wait until the new menu of the new responsibility comes out. I can switch to that new responsibility at Oracle Forms, but not at the webpage.
If I switch to that new responsibility at Oracle Forms, then click the function that shows the webpage, then the webpage will say "Oracle XXX cannot retrieve your access set information. Please make sure the profile option XXXXX is set up properly for your responsibility."

    1. Login to Oracle Applications using System Administrator responsibility.
    2. Navigate to the define user form (FNDSCAUS –Security-->Users-->Define)
    3. Query up the user (that is having the issue) and insure the responsibility is NOT end dated.
    4. End Date the USER (not the responsibility) and save the record.
    5. UN End Date the User and save the record.
    6. Run the following requests from View-->Requests-->Submit a New Request--> Single Request
         a. Sync responsibility role data into the WF table
         b. Synchronize WF LOCAL tables
         c. Workflow Directory Services User/Role Validation (with parameters 10000, yes, yes, yes).
    Run means submitting requests.
    7. Have the user log off and back on and verify that the responsibility appears.
Please let me know, if you still require more clarity?
    Thanks
    Sai

  • Long time wait for authentication with Windows 2003 AD

    Hello,
We have a problem with authentication with 2003 AD. If it was no requests from VDI to Windows 2003 AD during some time (10-15 minutes), first request take a lot of time - 3-5 minutes and user need to wait after entering his username/password. Searching users in VDI GUI also take a lot of time in this situation.
How to resolve this? Size of directory is very small.
And with 2008 AD and Open LDAP there is no such problem.

Same thing for 2003, it is called IAS (Internet Authentication Service).
    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/network/ias/default.mspx
Basically you will set up IAS with a RADIUS Client which would be your wireless access point(s). Then you will set up a remote access policy which will define how connections are authorized or rejected (windows groups, protocols etc.). Don't forget to register IAS with active directory.

  • Long time to print to pdf

In adobe framemaker 8, my coworkers and I print book files which are 200-300 pages long with about 10-15 figures. The problem is that it takes me 4 mintues to print it, one coworker takes 30 minutes to print and another coworker 3 hours to print the same document. What could be the problem? Is it a setting on the adobe distiller? We share files over a network drive.

Do you have Adobe Distiller set to be the default print device? That might help. I could recommend printing to file with a postscript file (using the Distiiler print driver), then manually distilling and see if it goes any faster.

  • Aperture's incompatibility for long time

Is there any news when Aperture is recognizing the sRAW files from new Canon DSLRs? I'm having very hard time, using Aperture for everything but having to go to another program just for sRAW files. It's been already a long time waiting, maybe they want us to with to Lightroom?

This has been pretty well documented in a hand full of forums: sRAW is a proprietary format exclusive to Canon. If you want to use sRAW, then you must use Canon's DPP to convert the images shot in sRAW to 16bit TIFF's or high quality jepgs and import these into Aperture.
As for Lightroom: Same thing. If you want to use sRAW, you need to convert these to TIFF's using Canon's software. There isn't even any DNG support which is a pretty good indicator that sRAW will not be supported by Adobe.
A little soapbox: The sRAW format when compared to the RAW format, has significant deficits with image quality. The cost of memory (high capacity hard drives) today is so cheep that the full RAW image files shouldn't be a major issue. This being said, I realize the size of the files from some of the new Canon's are quite huge - Canon 5D Mark II for instance!
Given Aperture treats jepgs the same as RAW, you may consider shooting highest quality jepg and importing into Aperture. It is my opinion that doing so yields similar or better image quality as the sRAW format after conversion.
In short, it is likely never going to happen. Sorry bro.
    Best,
    CD

  • Import of Apex Application to another instance takes a long time

    Hi,
I have developed an apex application which is of size -24 MB .While importing the appl to another instance it takes a long time (few hours). The imported appl is working fine so far.
What should be the ideal time for the import of this size appl ?
Is it the usual due to the size of the app or some thing is wrong with the app ?
Any one can please throw some light on this, as I am unable to figure out if it the appl issue or the DB issue.
    Thanks in advance!

The application is getting imported and running, so you do not really have a problem in hand.
24M is big, but not all that big to run for hours.
The time taken depends on the resources available on the server where you are trying to import. If the load on that server is high then the resources will be shared between all the processes run on it, and the import process will run longer.
Monitor disk and CPU usage, it will provide you some clues. Try importing at offpeak time and it should run faster if there is a server resource issue.

I am using Glassfish Server v2.1.1 with APEX Listener v1.1.3.243.11.40
The Timeout parameters for JDBC settings in APEX Listener are default. Thus I would expect to abort earlier to be an issue of JDBC Connection?
    Anybody an idea?
    Thanks!

That is precisely what my mid-2010 MacBoook Pro 13 was doing before the drive finally died after an Apple Genius rebooted it a dozen or so times. I have since read about the exact same thing happening to others, including a writer for The Atlantic magazine who had never had an issue with a Mac before. Do a back-up ASAP to make sure you don't lose anything and see about replacing the HDD. It is only about $140 for a new drive. The real issue is if you lose your data, too. So, make sure you do that back-up!
