APEX schema Restoration

Hello all,
I got a new hard drive, so am reinstalling all.
I have a full export of the APEX schemas: FLOWS_030000, FLOWS_FILES, APEX_PUBLIC_USER.
These all restore clean into the appropriate tablespace.
I have followed all the external-to-the -database install steps.
I edited dads.conf, the images directory is there.
I am still not able to connect. I get the Not Found error.
Is there something else I need to do here?
Or, should I just abandon this and do a clean install.
I have some older exports of the APEX applications, but the export (.dmp) is the most recent.
If this fails, I have thought of doing a clean APEX install, then copying the contents of the APEX tables over.
At this point I am real curious as to whether this can be done.
Thanks - Karen

I'm not sure which tables you are planning to copy over and how you'll do that. After a new install, you could import the workspaces and applications and upload any files you require and that might be all you need. (Note, this import operation refers to using the Application Express import wizard, not the database imp utility.) This could be a lot of work if you have many workspaces and applications, however.
In order to use the database you have now (after the schema-level imports), you should be able to do the SYS grants using the steps described here: Re: 404 error after restoring the database

  • Invalid objects in APEX Schemas after import.

    Hi,
    After importing the APEX_040100 user in the database I got several invalid objects that are causing APEX not to work.
    I gave up to compile them. After using all kind of tricks such as compile one schema at a time or compile all of them using the utlprp.sql script
    or using EXEC DBMS_DDL.alter_compile('PACKAGE', 'MY_SCHEMA', 'MY_PACKAGE');
    or one object art a time using command sililar to:
    ALTER PACKAGE my_package COMPILE;
    ALTER PACKAGE my_package COMPILE BODY;
    ALTER PROCEDURE my_procedure COMPILE;
    ALTER FUNCTION my_function COMPILE;
    ALTER TRIGGER my_trigger COMPILE;
    ALTER VIEW my_view COMPILE;
    I can't find any documentation to show how to recompile them properly.
    So I am asking:
    1. How can we recompile all objects in APEX?
    2. How can we re-install APEX?
    3. How can we revert to previous version if both have problems?
    Thanks
    Yannis

    You mean you did export APEX_040100 schema from one database and import it to another database?
    There is also public synonyms and if I recall correct some objects are in SYS schema that belongs to Apex and are needed.

  • Can I use expdp/impdp for APEX schemas to setup a new server?

    If setting up a new development server that will replace an old server, can I simply use datapump tp export the APEX_040100 and FLOWS_FILES schemas on the old server, and just import the schemas on the new server? That would seem much simpler and faster than exporting all the applications in the APEX console, and importing the applications, much less steps involved.

    Pl post database and OS versions. Is there a reason you cannot clone the entire database from the old server to the new ?

  • How to find the FND_PROFILE.VALUE(ORG_ID) in custom apex schema

    Hi,
    How to find the FND_PROFILE.VALUE('ORG_ID') from dual in custom schema......
    Actually I have integrated Apex 4.2 version with EBS r12
    select FND_PROFILE.VALUE('ORG_ID') from dual ; in apps schema I m getting 198 value
    but the same query(select  apps.FND_PROFILE.VALUE('ORG_ID') from dual ) in custom schema (XXCVBB) returning null value..
    Is there  any pre steps I have to do...
    kindly provide the useful inputs to retrieve the profile value..........
    Regards,
    Pavan

    Hi,
    fnd_profile.value('ORG_ID'); will fetch you value only if there is a organization assigned to any application [or only if its  a single Org], being it custom application you should have used set policy context or mo_global.init to populate the global temporary table which will hold all the Org's which that specific user has access too.
    in your custom code use MO_GLOBAL.SET_POLICY_CONTEXT('S','ORG ID WHICH YOU NEED TO SET');
    after setting the policy context, you should be able to see value from fnd_profile.value('ORG_ID');
    Hope this Helps!!
    MO_GLOBAL.SET_POLICY_CONTEXT
    This procedure has two parameters
    p_access_mode
    Pass a value "S" in case you want your current session to work against Single ORG_ID
    Pass a value of "M" in case you want your current session to work against multiple ORG_ID's
    p_org_id
    Only applicable if p_access_mode is passed value of "S"
    MO_GLOBAL.INIT
    Purpose of mo_global.init :-
    It will check if new Multi Org Security Profile is set, to decide if new Security Profile method will be used.
    If the new MO security profile is set, then mo_global.init inserts one record, for each Organization in Org Hierarchy, in table mo_glob_org_access_tmp

    Hi all,
    Kindly help me with this backup and restore doubt.
    Currently my understanding to backup is as follow
    1. Database Cold backup, backup dads file Restore -> rebuild 100% after installed oracle db
    2. Export with parameter Fromuser = [the workspace schema] Restore -> import to db
    3. Using Apex Export Function Doubt -> this one look like not covering the data. ?>> this one only create the skeleton of the apps but no data? how about the apps objects such as trigger (sequences)
    Kindly help me to understand the backup and recovery
    Thank you for your time.

  • Can we restore HFM from Oracle DB Schema

    Hi All
    We have some issue and we have to restore a backup of production HFM DB schema to QA. Right now Prod HFM is not good, so we cannot do a copyapplication.exe.
    Can you please tell me the steps involved in restoring HFM app from Oracle DB?
    We are using HFM 9.3.1 and Oracle DB as backend.
    I have done the oracle db migration for Planning but HFM is something new to me.
    Thanks in advance for your help

    do the Schema restore and then change the cluster settings on Server/Web Configuration screenj

  • Return apex application schema

    Hi
    Let's say I have an apex application named "ABC" based in the schema "ABC".
    I also have a schema "XYZ" that hold procedure used by every other schema.
    For logging purpose, at some point I want to find which application is calling "XYZ".
    I would normally use SELECT USER FROM DUAL to return "ABC" which works fine when called from toad, but in this case, because of Apex, the result is "ANONYMOUS".
    Also, SELECT SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV', 'CURRENT_SCHEMA') FROM DUAL ; will return "XYZ".
    I am out of ideas to find the original apex schema.
    Thanks.
    Sebastian

    To get the app schema, try the <tt>apex_util.get_default_schema</tt> API method.
    However its more usual to use the built-in <tt>APP_USER</tt> substitution string to get the identity of the currently authenticated user.

  • APEX  How do I create a Form based on a Database Table from other schema

    My APEX schema is WISEXP. I have a database table that resides in WISDW schema on the same database. I want to create Tabular form based on this table.
    I am not able to create a FORM based on the table from WISDW schema. I am able to create a FORM based on SQL though from this table in WISDW schema - but it does not do any action on Update/Insert rows.
    Appropriate Synonyms and grants are created. Is there a limitation or am I missing something? Please advise.
    thanks
    Rupen

    If Rupen is using 2.2 or 2.2.1, it is likely he is running into the bug described here: Re: Workspace to Schema Assignments
    In that case, it may be a necessary and sufficient workaround to assign the foreign schema to the workspace.

    Since you know which tablespace(s) all the APEX data and other data are in, you can use Rman to backup up just those or the whole database. Rman will also handle the recovery for you should the case arise. Google Oracle Rman to get further information or go to http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/index.html to find the docs appropriate for your database.

  • Restore Deleted Reports?

    Someone accidently deleted some reports from a page in APEX. They did not backup the page before doing this, actually they deleted the page and created a new onw with the same page num.
    However these is a schema backup of al lthe schemas. I don't know which schema to look in, or even where to look to try to restore the reports.
    There are about 30 reports.
    I was wondering what is the best way to restore these reports from the database backup of the apex schemas.
    If this is possible???
    Thanks

    Anyone have an idea on this?

  • Apex 4.0 - Can see view data in SQL*Plus but no data in Object Browser

    Hi There,
    I have just started using Apex 4.o and migrated some apps. I have an issue with a report, but see the same issue with Object browser, which is easier to describe.
    I have a view:
    create or replace view V_PLJ_USERDEF_CODES (
             CODE_SET_ID,
             CODE_SET_CODE,
             CODE_SET_DESC,
             CODE_ID,
             CODE_SYS_CODE,
             CODE_VALUE,
             CODE_DESC,
             DISPLAY_SEQ,
             DISPLAY_FLAG,
             LANGUAGE_CODE) as
      select CS.CODE_SET_ID,
             CS.CODE_SET_CODE,
             CS.CODE_SET_DESC,
             C.CODE_ID,
             C.CODE_SYS_CODE,
             C.CODE_VALUE,
             C.CODE_DESC,
             C.DISPLAY_SEQ,
             C.DISPLAY_FLAG,
             C.LANGUAGE_CODE
        from PLJ_CODES C,
             PLJ_CODE_SETS CS
       where C.CODE_SET_ID         = CS.CODE_SET_ID
         and CS.CODE_SET_TYPE_CODE = SYS_CONTEXT('PLJUMPSTART','C_USERDEF_CODE_SET');This returns data in SQL*Plus, but no data in Object Browser OR report region based on this view.
    Workspace parses in the same schema as tested in SQL*Plus.
    If, in report, I swap out view, and use underlying table - no problem.
    Any ideas -
    thanks
    P

    Hi all,
    Thanks for getting back so promptly.
    It just seems weird to me, as tables are just fine, but not views.
    In the underlying schema:
    SQL> sho user
    USER is "ICSREPORTING"
    SQL> select count(*) from plj_codes;
      COUNT(*)
           107
    SQL> select count(*) from v_plj_userdef_codes;
      COUNT(*)
            29And in the APEX schema
    SQL> sho user
    USER is "APEX_040000"
    SQL> select count(*) from icsreporting.plj_codes;
    select count(*) from icsreporting.plj_codes
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    SQL> select count(*) from icsreporting.v_plj_userdef_codes;
    select count(*) from icsreporting.v_plj_userdef_codes
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    SQL>However, in SQL browser, I can see the data in PLJ_CODES but in V_PLJ_USERDEF_CODES, just the message "This view has no data". Indeed, it is like this for all views.
    I even explicitly granted access to APEX_040000 but no good.
    In fact, I would like to know more about how Apex gets access to do DML against the underlying parsing schema(s).
    This is a little frustrating though. It worked just fine in lots of apps in version 2.1 to 3.2
    Am I missing something
    paul
    p.s I knew there would be a question about the context, but I had already checked that. :)

  • Integrate an Apex Application with the E-Business Suite 11i

    Hi !
    I'm currently working to get connected to APEX (Application Express 3.2.1.00.11) using an E-Business Suite 11i form function then using the ICX cookie.
    I'm using a document created by Rod West(consultant at Cabot Consulting) to help me doing this connection.
    The document is : http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/pdf/apex_ebs_wp_cabot_consulting.pdf
    I always have errors when I try to get connected using the method suggested in the document.
    The error I have received is :
    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist ORA-00942: table or view does not exist ORA-06512: at "APPS.ICX_SEC", line 2388 ORA-06510: PL/SQL: unhandled user-defined exception
    This error seems to come from wfa_sec.getsession(:P101_USERNAME) used in the Before Header process of the login page(Page101).
    See code here (Figure 10 in the document) :
    BEGIN
    wfa_sec.getsession(:P101_USERNAME);
    :P101_PASSWORD :=
    XXAPX_SECURITY_PKG.generate_hash
    (FND_GLOBAL.user_name);
    IF :P101_PASSWORD IS NOT NULL THEN
    APEX_CUSTOM_AUTH.login(
    P_UNAME => :P101_USERNAME,
    P_PASSWORD => :P101_PASSWORD,
    P_SESSION_ID => v('APP_SESSION'),
    P_APP_PAGE => :APP_ID||':1'
    END IF;
    EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN NULL;
    END;
    I have done a "GRANT EXECUTE ON apps.WFA_SEC" to my APEX Schema, so the APEX Schema should have access to everything used by the package... I have tried to "GRANT EXECUTE ON" ICX_SESSIONS but I still have the same error...
    Do I need to do other "GRANT" ? Have you experienced the same problem ?
    Thanks for your help !

    Hi !
    Yes, I have already created synonyms but I still got the same errors...the error seems to be related to a table used in the package icx_sec...I have tried to grant and create synonym for tables icx_transactions and icx_sessions but I still got the error. Any ideas ?
    I have also tried to use the method (OWA_COOKIE.send) suggested in the 2007 version of the Rod West's document (the method you mentionned in the thread) and I'm able to get connected to my APEX application using the E-Business Menu but I have an intermittent problem with this method.. In fact, some days I'm able to get connected to APEX at the first try but some days I received "Invalid Login Credentials" at the first try and at the second try I get connected...And we haven't found any reasons yet for the intermittent "Invalid Login Credentials" ?
    Have you experienced the same intermittent problem on your side ?
    Thanks !

  • Oracle BI Publisher with apex 3.1

    Hi,
    The Oracle BI publisher software is installed on the server and the apex database schema connection details are provided to generate the PDF reports.This apex schema has all the database objects created.
    I have a small question regarding the schema.Is it better to create a new schema for the Oracle BI publisher?where will be the templates created via BI publisher stored?When a RTF template is created from windows doc by logging in to the BI publisher,will it create any tables in the schema on the database side?
    Please suggest any document on how to effectively maintain the Oracle BI publisher.
    Thanks

    "user589320"
    APEX is only using BI Publisher to transform the XML data of your report and the template you provide into PDF, Word or Excel. For this, APEX sends the XML data and the template to BI Publisher, and BI Publisher sends back to completed document. So there's nothing stored in BI Publisher, all templates, report definitions, etc are stored in the APEX schema. This has the advantage that you can reference item values and other information in your print documents, and it also ensures that you don't have to access the database again from within BI Publisher, i.e. you don't need to communicate any authentication information to BI Publisher.
    Of course BI Publisher itself also provide the ability to store reports and to store templates. But those are not accessible from APEX through the built-in integration. You can however use the same templates you use for BI Publisher directly on load them into APEX for use there.
    Lastly, if you want to use and print reports in both BI Publisher and your APEX applications, you can do that through web services, take a look at Tyler Muth's BLOG for more information on this topic:

  • Application Builder Applications List View Detail - Parsing Schema

    When viewing all applications in the Application Builder using the View Detail option the list of applications is shown with the Parsing Schema showing APEX_040100 or APEX_040200 according to the apex version. Shouldn't it show the actual schema that the application will use?

    Prabodh wrote:
    Hi,
    How will Apex know the actual schema without getting into the code and analyzing it?
    I meant just showing the actual "parsing schema" which is set for the application, not all the possible schemas the application may actually reference. The parsing schema is one of the parameters asked for when importing an application. It is also defined in the application definition.
    A workspace can have any number of schema assigned to it, other than the Default Parsing one. So, the only other option would be to list all the assigned schema. Which in my opinion (and most probably in the mind of the designers of Apex as well ) will be an unnecessary long list.In my opinion it seems unnecessary and fairly useless to show the APEX schema (APEX040100, APEX040200) when listing a few details of the application. Just wondering if it is on purpose or an overlooked bug.

  • Using #LOGO# in Apex 3.0 BI Publisher PDF

    Hey gurus and guruesses [sp?]...
    I have an Apex 3.0 application that uses a procedure call to get the logo pending on several factors about the user.
    I want to be able to display the current logo on any PDF's that I'm generating using BI Publisher.
    I can't find anywhere about how to use the #LOGO# substitution to get by logo into the PDF, as the #LOGO# substitution has all the logic in it already.
    Alturnatively I need a way to get a value from my XML into the URL of the image - is there any way to do this? The procedure to get the image results in the image url being http://server:7777/pls/apex/SCHEMA.utils.displaylogo?id=[number]

    Erm, thanks for all the help, but I've found a solution.
    Images in the RTF document can have the 'web alternative' set to be the URL of whatever image you like, including the substitution of any variables within that URL.
    This has solved the problem, kind of.
    Is there any way to purely substitute the image in, or will it always replace the existing images, width/height values as well? We have many different sized logos, ranging from 65x65 to 200x65, so any smaller logoes get streched, or larger logos get squished.
    Ideas?
