Apex Theme Editing

Hi all,
i found a nice vista-style toolbar on the net and want to implement it in apex.
but unfortunately it does not load the images specified in css file
here´s what i´d like to do:
[http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=200801:2012:586436219181608::NO:::|http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=200801:2012:586436219181608::NO:::]
i currently use the 15. light Blue Template shipped with Apex. I was trying to edit the "One Level Tabs" Area of the template. Does #APP_IMAGES# work in a css-file? i also tried to reference it via "wwv_flow_file_mgr.get_file?p_security_group_id=1052403873569121&p_flow_id=106&p_fname=right.png", no success...
greetings,
Sebastian

It should - i used firebug on the page and here is the css definition for that page:
.vista_toolbar ul {
background-image:url(wwv_flow_file_mgr.get_file?p_security_group_id=441224701954687600&p_flow_id=200801&p_fname=back.gif);
background-repeat:repeat-x;
float:left;
line-height:32px;
list-style-image:none;
list-style-position:outside;
list-style-type:none;
margin:0;
padding:0 10px;
width:800px;
}As you can see it is using the built-in call to the database to retrieve the image... what do you have in your CSS?

  • Skillbuilders Modal Page on IE8 with an IE6 compatible Apex theme

    Hi,
    We have been using Theme 13 for quite some time now - I'm aware it's not the best theme in the world to use but with the number of application pages we have now it will take a long time to upgrade them to a newer theme.
    Recently we implemented the Skillbuilders modal page with more than a little help from Dan McGhan and it looks amazing, using any Apex theme, when using IE9, Chrome, Firefox etc. For some reason, when using IE8, we are experiencing strange behaviour.
    The modal box is not showing the Close button and the right and bottom sides are hidden from view inside a parent div. This is a known issue with the jquery ui dialog, but I was hoping someone might have come up with a workaround to make it show correctly.
    If you visit [url http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=62488:2:0:::::]this example with IE8 and click on the names, it doesn't display correctly.
    Can anyone help? We know switching themes to a non-IE6 compatible one works but I would like to fix this without changing stuff to that extent.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards, Pete

    Pete,
    The page templates for the main page and the modal page are missing DTDs so the browser is running in quirks mode. Try adding the HTML5 DTD as it's the simplest:
    <!DOCTYPE html>Note that this may cause other parts of the template to "break". These can be fixed but depending on the severity it may cost a lot of time to fix.

    Dan

    I can see my photos in iphoto but can't email them, edit them or print them....help please!

    First, what is the formatting of the external hard drive?  It should be OS X Extended (journaled). You can determine it by selecting the EHD and typing Command + i.
    Click to view full size
    If it isn't formatted to that you should move the library off of it and reformat.
    The "!" is an indication that the file path to the original file has been broken  So make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
    In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

    This is a big topic and it's not really possible to cover it in the format of a forum post.
    Developing a complete theme requires a good knowledge of HTML and CSS (and increasingly of JavaScript and a JS framework like jQuery). It's beyond the scope of this forum to provide information on the basics of HTML and CSS, and/or web and UI design in general.
    See this classic Cloning your Corporate UI with HTML DB blog post (HTML DB was the former name of APEX).
    Before going further you should be familiar with the documentation relating to the use of themes, templates and CSS in APEX: Oracle® Application Express Application Builder User's Guide, Chapter 11: Managing Themes and Templates
    Once you get started, if you have specific questions relating to the inclusion in APEX of particular HTML, CSS, JS frameworks, or components then those are the questions it is appropriate to ask here (after consulting the documentation and searching the forum and web for prior relevant discussions, and according to the guidelines in the FAQ and sticky threads).
    With APEX we're fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with the issue, which we can then see at first hand.

  • IMovie HD 6 Theme Editing

    How is it possible to edit the primary title in each of the Themes? It appears that tne size of the font, type of font, color of font etc. are not able to be altered. At the very least it should be possible to alter the font size, in order to accomodate a change in the number of words to be used. Am I correct that in iMovie HD 6, this part is totally inflexible??? I can't seem to make any changes whether trying to access this capability through Themes, Editing or any other approach. What am I missing??
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1 GB RAM

    Response to: "Hi Don!
    All the things you mention are possible, in fact easy. Try using the Help menu in iDVD, or get a book about the iLife applications, such as (there are others also) David Pogue's 'iMovie 6 & iDVD 6 - The Missing Manual'.
    Once you have acquainted youself with the applications, you will have a lot more fun! "
    I have Pogue's books (including iMovie HD 6 and iLife 6 - Missing Manuals), have not found a direct reference to this specific question, relating to the first Title in Theme's in iMovie HD 6 and have used all previous iMovie versions - so I am acquainted with the application.
    If this is so easy, can you be specific as to the solution?? I appreciate the responses, but you could save me time by just giving a specific "how to", rather than telling me how easy it is. David's response indicates that this requires a separate application. If it is easy, within iMovie HD 6, why would there be a need for a separate application to accomplish this??

  • Issue with Responsive Theme, Edit Links and IE

    I've built an example of problem I have at work
    Using Theme 25,
    Build a simple app, 1 page - One Level Tabs, Right Sidebar
    Create a default region.
    In the region create a Popup LOV and, on the same row, another item- I've used a Text item
    Lov will work fine.
    Set the page template to allow edit links.
    Now the Lov won't fire.
    I think that the edit links elements have a console.log call - which IE can't handle so it does nothing.

    Can some-one take a look and see if you can come up with a solution. It took a couple of days to spot where the problem seemed to be.

    Known bug, fixed in 4.2.2
    Before then, Edit the Java Script Debug section of the One Level Tabs - Right Sidebar template and remove the three "console.log" entries.

  • APEX Bugs: Editing customer contacts and uploading attachments

    I'm using the pre-packaged application, "customer tracker"
    Application Version 2.2.35
    Build Version 4, Application Express 4.2.3
    I am using it on a MAC
    And am having some issues with the pre-packaged application "customer tracker".  I uploaded a bunch of data. However, now when I try to edit a contact record, I get the following error:
    1 error has occurred unable to extend table application_name.EBA_CUST_History by 8 in tablespace APEX_5956688132079418188.
    It doesn't matter if I'm using Firefox or Safari.
    The only way I can modify customer records is to completely delete them and then manually add each one back in -- which is not very scalable. I was able to edit records previously.  This just started yesterday.
    Is this a known issue?  Any way to fix?
    I end up getting the same type of issue when I try to manually add an attachment  It doesn't matter if I'm adding a word doc or a PDF, same error.  This error started after I manually uploaded a handful of attachments last week. The error reads as follows:
    Unable to extend lob segment application_name.sys_LOB0006066941C00008$$ by 128 in tablespace APEX_5956688132079418188.
    Could someone please assist?
    Thanks!

    Not an APEX issue,  your database tablespace needs cleaning up/expanding...

  • APEX 10g edition bug??

    Hello
    I have come across an issue when building the application. There is no way around it so far, and I can't think of anything despite many hours.
    After having created the tables, I go to the next step of creating the application.
    Once all the pages are organized within tabsets and tabs I notice that the field that corresponds to the Primary Key is not editable, that is, it does not have a text field where you can manually introduce the data. If it were sequenced by trigger I could understand that, but, I need to enter them manually. So, then I click on Edit Page, I locate the region, I click on Edit Report Attributes, I notice that it is by default put under Hidden (why??), so I change it to Text Field and applied and yes, the page looks cool now, just as I wanted. In any case I was not very happy why I had to do that for all of the pages, but I went on.
    So now, that (it would seem thta) I can enter the data, when I click on Add Row to insert it, it brings an error saying that the data version of the database has changed since I started the update process, everything is messed up and you cannot add any row.
    So, what is happening is that when the Application is created, the pages that were alright, are not anymore. That is, the column corresponding to the PK says only: PostCode_Display, (for one page), DoctorNumber_Display (for other page, etc) but you cannot introduce data because, as I said, there is no textfield. 1)
    Does anybody have an idea why:
    1) The columns of the PK for each page will present themselves un-editable when launching the tabsets and pages with their tabs.
    2) Why if you edit the page from there, even if you manage to create the textfield to add the data it comes up with this:
    Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Error in MRU: row= 1, ORA-20001: ORA-20001: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "A884FA378C851786DDFE3A33709CB23C", item checksum = "EA5F789178309D21B6818803A970BB4F"., update "HR"."ADDRESSES" set "POSTCODE" = :b1, "TOWN" = :b2, "STREET" = :b3
    Error Unable to process update.

    Hello,
    It depends how you want your PK populated.
    What selection did you use in the wizards for the Primary key?

    Hi,
    As I know those are not included to standard themes on APEX 4.1.1.
    You can check if there is ready plugins
    http://www.apex-plugin.com/
    Also you can check APEX 4.2 EA if those are included. If not use builder feedback link to submit feature enhancement

  • Purchased APEX theme images on a hosted site

    Hello Everybody,
    I purchased a wonderful theme for APEX, I'm trying to get it up and running at my job apex instance, the problem is that the dba's are unwilling to create the directory to place the files on the Oracle Application Server. On the servers that I manage, I have no problems doing this, but that is an entirely different issue.
    I have uploaded the files as static files, static images, and I uploaded the css as css. Problem is my graphics are not being displayed.
    I created an application substitution string and values as follows:
    THEME_PATH #WORKSPACE_IMAGES#This does allow the css to work, but the icons, buttons, and other png or gif files are not rendered?
    I do know that this can be made to work, I'm just not sure what I'm doing wrong, can anyone help me?
    Thanks,
    Charles

    I actually use Revion, they are great! This is my real job that I'm talking about. I'm going to put in a request to have the files installed on the application server, even if they approve the idea, it may take several months to get it done, the bureaucracy slows everything down here. I'm not going to let that little detail stop me from my work.
    Thanks big time, I really appreciate your help!

  • Calendar theme editing?  Changing layout of Calendar photo's.

    I want to rearrange photos on calendar in a slightly rotated layout. That is not perfectly vertical or horizontal. I want to lay them on the calendar in MY arragnement rather than the canned layouts from Apple.
    Is there anyway to rotate photos just a little off horizontal/vertical?
    Is there a way to create MY own Calendar theme?
    Are there other Calendar themes available?

    MacFire21:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What theme are you using and which layout?
    The answer to all of your questions is no. BUT, if you choose a one photo/page layout you can create a collage of the photos you want in the location you want and save as a 4:3 ratio image file an use that. That would take a 3rd party editor however. There is a free one, Seashore, that can do the job. If you plan on doing a lot of advanced editing I recommend Photoshop Elements. It's, IMO, the best consumer editor out there. Here's an example so some of the advanced editing you can do with it.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • APEX Theme 25 - Responsive Grid Layout Question

    Hi
    What is the best way to control an item to be positioned right next to the other item on the same row.
    I have a select list that I would like to have an edit button right next to it.
    I created two items for example:
    P_MY_SELECT_LIST Grid set New Line to Yes, Auto
    P_MY_EDIT_LINK Grid set New Line to No, Auto
    But it is not doing what I expected.. what am I missing?
    When it was tables not divs I had no trouble but now I need to learn the kep to using the Grid.
    When I hard code the edit in the Post Element of the item it works great with 2 spaces... but I can't control the item by the AUTH Scheme. I don't want them to show up unless you have the proper role.
    Plus, I want to learn the new 4.2 way!
    Thanks, Bill

    Hi Scott, Bill,
    Because Theme 25 relies on grid for most of it's positioning, it is difficult to do accomplish what was sometimes much simpler when using the tables approach for form layouts. This also happens to be one of the biggest issues with Theme 25: proper form and label positioning.
    If we look back to using tables for form layout we would see that a structure would be created immediately when we started laying out items. Because of the way tables behave, whatever the size of your first label was controlled the width of that cell, and the cells below it. Meaning all of your labels would line up, but only take the space necessary to fit your label.
    However, with a div-based grid, this is no longer possible. There is no structured set of cells that grow / contract together as there are in tables. Because of this, it is difficult to determine the width of a given container and apply that same width to others (for example, picking up your largest label, and applying the width of that label container to the other labels which are below).
    One way to go around this problem, and what we've done in Theme 25, is to used fixed-width labels. So we explicitly set the width of labels, and that makes the layout much more predictable. We know that labels will always be a certain width, and that input fields that follow will begin from the same position. However, this is very different from how forms in tables work:
    1. All labels are the same size, so even if a label is very small, or very large, it will take the same space.
    2. We can no longer align two items be right next to each other without using grids.
    3. When using grids, we have to be mindful of the label's fixed width as it can be larger than the column it is contained in.
    We're working on a cleaner approach to this problem so creating responsive applications and laying form items is easier than it currently is. In the meantime, you can override several styles to help your particular use case.
    Here are just a few styles you can apply to your page to get form alignment to behave (with a specified region static id):
    1. Manually setting the widths of labels for a given region:
    #my_region div.fieldContainer.horizontal>label {
        width: 80px;
    #my_region div.fieldContainer.horizontal div.fieldControls {
        /* width above + 16px spacing */
        margin-left: 96px;
    2. Set Label widths to only take up the space they need:
    #my_region div.fieldContainer.horizontal>label {
        float: none;
        width: auto;
    #my_region div.fieldContainer.horizontal div.fieldControls {
        margin-left: 0;
        display: inline-block;
    3. You can allow fields to float left:
    a. Add to your inline CSS:
    #my_region div.fieldContainer {float: left;}b. Set grid layout attributes for your second item as follows:
    Start New Row: No
    Column: Automatic
    New Column: NoYou can combine these together as well. For example, applying styles #2 and #3 will let you position elements side by side and immediately after each other.
    Scott,
    For some of your issues in particular, here are some possible ways to go around them:
    1. Password field being cut off
    In addition to setting the size of the field to 60, you can apply an inline style to control the width by setting the HTML Form Element Attributes field to:
    style="max-width: 100%;"This will restrict the size of input field to be a maximum of 100% of it's container, and should no longer be hidden when your window is resized.
    2. Customer Report obscured
    You can add an inline style to your page header to set this region's content to scroll. For example giving it a static id of my_region and adding the following to your page's inline css field:
    #my_region section.uRegion>div.uRegionContent {overflow: auto;} Hope this helps!
