APO Deployment pushing stock in pull scenario

Hello experts,
Right now, I am having an issue with my client regarding the deployment optimizer results. Due to some business reasons, it is necessary to keep the stock in the plant for a certain group of products, instead of deploying it to the distribution centers. The only time the stock can be deployed to the DC is when there is a demand.
The current network is 1 plant and 3 DCs. Push distribution field is setup as blank (pull rule), the pull horizon is set to 10 days and the fair share rule is setup as B.
I have already tested these scenarios (several times with different values):
Non delivery penalty higher in the plant than in the DC:
Product A – plant NDP 2,000,000
Product A – DC 1 NDP 1,000,000
Product A – DC 2 NDP 1,000,000
Product A – DC 2 NDP 1,000,000
RESULT: the stock is deployed to the DC even when there is no demand at the DC.
Storage cost higher in the DC
Product A – plant SC  1
Product A – DC 1 SC 100,000,000
Product A – DC 2 SC 100,000,000
Product A – DC 3 SC 100,000,000
RESULT: the stock is deployed to the DC even when there is no demand at the DC.
If pull horizon is extended, the stock will be kept in the plant only if there is demand in the plant, if there is no demand, the stock is deployed to the DC (tested with previous cost definitions).
Something that is important to know is that max stock level in plant and in DCs is set to 1. This is because normally these products shouldn’t have available stock. Max stock level is a soft restriction (no cost that affects it), so it shouldn’t matter if it is exceeded at the plant (with the result I am getting, the stock is being exceeded at the DC).
What I find confusing about this whole situation is that when I review the Dep Opt Log, it seems to assume the costs implied in deploying the stock to the DC, even when they are way higher than keeping the stock in the plant.
Have anyone faced this same issue before? Any ideas on how can this be configured in the system using the Dep optimizer based on costs?
I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Kenichi,
STO is not generated by a SNP heuristic. You can only generate STR's (Stock Transport Requisition) with SNP heuristic run.
You can generate STR's either by running SNP heuristics on Manfacturing Plant(Location B in your case). Or you can run Network SNP Heuristics on Location A.
Then, you can convert the generated STR to STO either in APO or R3. To do it in APO, you have to run Deployment, followed by TLB run. Or to do it in ECC, you may have to use t-codes like ME59 for converison of STR to STO etc.
Thank you,
Santosh KB.

  • How can we distinguish quality stock in APO with unrestricted stock

    Hi Friends,
Please tell me the steps required to distinguish quality stock in APO with unrestricted stock.
    With regards,
    Balaji Sajja
Edited by: Balaji Sajja on Mar 29, 2011 5:49 AM

    Hi Balaji,
I am not sure about which steps you want exactly to differentiate the stocks However, I can tell you the differentiation of stocks by ATP category.APO maps stocks as orders, and uses ATP categories to differentiate between the various stock types. SAP APO manages storage locations as sub-locations and batches as versions.
we can differentiate the Unrestricted Stock & Quality Stock by ATP category.
Quality Stock = ATP Category-CF - InspctnStk - Stock in quality inspection &
Unrestricted Stock = ATP Category CC-Stock- Valuated, unrestricted-use stock
In any view, product view/receipt view, under ATP category column, you will see these ATP Categories by which you can differentiate them.

  • Opening stock in LTP scenario

    Hi
We activated MRP area and due to that we cannot use average plant stock in LTP scenarios in MS31.
Is there is any way to influence opening stock,If we select any other option other than average plant stock.

    Hello
Your question is not clear for me.
On the LTP scenario settings (MS32) you have the following options for the opening stock:
    No opening stock
    1
    Safety stock as opening stock
    2
Plant stock at time of planning
    3
Average plant stock from material master record
Take a look on the F1 help for more details.

  • Push method and Pull method of extraction

    hello Friends,
Can you please suggest me what is the diffrance between Push method and Pull method of extraction.
i am having some confusion in this.
It would be great if you can elobrate your view on this.
    Regards,Jain

We used this in the Start Routine of Update Rule, The Oull Method is used if you will looked- up another value other than your source
Example, You have an ODS name ODS123 and the its Load came from ODS234 and ODS345, If the requirement states that you must select a value other than your Source (let say your ODS is Delivery) you must extract from other ODS (let say Order or Billing that will serve as a Key to your Start Routine)
The Pull Method is when you implement a routine directly from your source to do some conversion or computation
    Example
Example, You have an ODS name ODS123 and the its Load came from ODS234 and ODS345, you will implement a routine to from Update Rule 8ODS234 and 8ODS345 to do some Key Figure computations

  • Stock in  transit scenario

    Hi all
I need to configure the stock in transit scenario,
How I know whn the Client/Another plant reach the material.
From SD Side I know that when I make the PGI,i am sending the material from our plant,
but how tho get know when the client reach it?
Thanks in advanc ad best regards
    L

    Hi,
As per standard process, after going out from your plant, material is termed as in transit. There is no specific way to tell when it will reach to the end client. It will only have the reach date based on the route transit time. If client or the end plant will enter the time as soon as the material reached there. then only you can know the exact time. There is various add ons with Fedex, UPS and many courier companies which also provides shipping confirmations from the client upon reaching the material.
    Thanks,

  • Does APO support the simplified CrossCompany STO scenario from ECC ?

    Hello experts,
I'm seeking for some short infos around using / support of the "single document CrossCompany StockTransfer Order" process from ECC and whether this can be used within APO. If someone has some experience with this I would be happy to hear any feedback on this.
The starting point is that we use today an APO planning process for cross company replenishment via the famous 2-documents flow (IC PurchOrder --> IC SalesOrder) and we wanted to check if APO-SNP can support the simplified STO scenario. The "beauty" of course is that you only have a single document to deal with in an intercompany process.
Can SNP create STO PReqs (is this only depenend on the source-of-supply definition in the vendor master in ECC) ?
Can SNP Deployment process such SNP STO PReqs at a hub location ("fair share" at supplying plant)?
Can TLB by used at a Hub to turn such "deployed" STO PReqs into STO PurchOrders in ECC ?
Is the fcst consumption of such STOs working in the supplying plant side ?
Are there any serious / known limitations working with STO in APO (using Interchangeability, using GATP in the supplying plant side to perform rescheduling by BOP on these STOs etc.)
Thanks for any hints or experience sharing !
    Regards
    Thomas

    Hi Frank,
thanks for the detailed info - this helps to find a way thru the larger documentation. In regards to applying / testing the RDS we will check getting an SCM sandbox "on-hand".
Beside this I started searching OSS on my initial question - note 1284461 - Release Restrictions for SAP SCM 7.0 seems have some items to around using  "STO" in APO SNP & GATP (see below).
Another note explicitely defines how to get the right "SourceOfSupply" definition into APO for the STO sceanrio: 1623475
So, what is basically left open for me is:
    * is TLB correctly working using "SNP Deployed STOs" ?
    * at the supplying plant of the STO (typically a central DC) - is GATP able to catch at least demand of such STOs for ATP qty consideration
    Regards
    Thomas
Stock Transport Order and product interchangeability
The functionality of product interchangeability in Stock Transport Orders (STO)s
    will not support
    - purchasing requisitions and scheduling agreements
    - old purchase transaction e.g. ME21
.. the handling in case of inconsistencies between confirmed quantity in STO/delivery
and real quantity in warehouse at time of goods issue can only be resolved as
    follows:
    - Either deletion and recreation of STO and delivery
    or
    - post goods issue with #real# quantity (reduce delivered quantity), post goods receipt and
set delivery complete indicator, correct situation in warehouse, create new STO
    item.
Backorder processing for Stock Transfer Orders - Rescheduling
The rescheduling for Stock Transfer Orders is done in LC during the update.
Rescheduling is supported during Backorder processing (BOP) but the results are
only consistent with LC scheduling if Configurable Process Scheduling (CPS) is
    used.

  • Deployment: excess stock

    Hi Experts,
We have a deployment process, were one Source location is deploying to 1 destination location. The destination location sends its demand to source location through Pur. Req.
Currently we are using Distribution rule "X- Push by Demand", fair share rule "blank" and Push Depl. Hor = 999. Whenever demand is more than supply, deployment is distributing the supply.
Now the requirement is:  when there is EXCESS stock at source location that excess stock should also be COMPLETELY DISTRIBUTED.
I do not wish to change my safety stock at destination plant and are using the deployment heuristic, the Deployment horizon = 999.
Please let me know, how can I map the above new requirement.
    Thanks & Regards
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew
Did you tried using the ditribution rule Q- Push by quota arrangment ? You would need to maintain an outbound quota arrangament of 100 % at the source location. I belive this should deploy the excess stock.

  • Change the valuation class of material [Stock transport order scenario]

    Dears,
Client would like to change the valuation class of material.
There is no open Purchase order/Process order/Purchase requistion and stock in plant.
Scenario- One Stock transport order is created.
For same goods issue (351-issuing plant) and goods receipt (101-receiving plant) is done.
When we are going to change the valuation class of said material, message is "purchase order is open
and it shows the no of STO [for which receipt and issue is done]"
To resolve this issue we had first delete the STO line item no(ME22N). Then change the valuation class.
(this allows). and then undelete the STO line item. Through this we can change the valuation class of material.
Please advise in such business process that this is right way or there may be other option.
    Thanks & Regards
    Rajan

    rajanshah219,
Here's my take on how to fix:
*Manually change Config TCode OMT4 - change message MM 326 & 327 to type "W"   (if open order exists...now you can enter through warning messages)
*If inventory exists, then issue out of stock to a cost center
    *Change valuation class
*Put stock back into inventory (reverse to that same cost center)  Note issue out and reverse back into inventory must happen in the same posting period.
**Valuation class should be changed as expected
**Manually change config  TCode OMT4 - change message MM 326 & 327 back to type "E"
    Thanks,

  • CIF Exit for updating APO field SAFETY STOCK METHOD from R/3.

    Hi All,
I have a requirement for updating filed "Safety stock Method " in APO from R/3.
We can do it through transactions CFM1 and then CFM2 in R/3.
This happens when we make changes in MM02 in R/3,
    for fields,
In ECC, Goto MRP2 view in material master
    Safety stock (EISBE)
    Safety time/act cov. (SHZET)
    STime period profile (SHPRO)
Currently, we are using a exit : Exit_saplcmat_001,
but it only gets triggered when we make changes in safety stock and safety time.
where as if we make changes only in STime period profile, and don't make any change in safety stock and safety time,
in this case the exit is not triggered.
Now, we are looking for an exit, which will get triggered even when there is no change in safety stock and safety time,
where as there is change in STime period profile.
Please suggest what can be used.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rahul A

    Hi,
You may need to include the field in some structure also.
eg.  for sales order interface we add z fields to  structure /SAPAPO/KOMGO

  • Deployment - Safety stock

    Hi expert,
I wanted to know How ATD( available to deploy) will be caluclated. Is there any settings which we have to make to consider ATD = Stock on Hnade - Safety stock.
    Ex :  Stock is 110
    Safety stock : 10
    Result i want is
    ATD = 100.
When we run deployment it should take 100 has input to deployment( Excluding Safety stock).
Please suggest any solution, This is Urgent requirement
    Thanks in advance
    Best regards,
    Srinivas

    Hi,
ATD quantity is calculated based on the category group defined at location or product location level in the ATD Receipts field in the ATP or SNP2 tab respectively, product location will overwrite value defined at location level. If you dont define any category group it will take default category group ATR to calculate the ATD quantinty.
If you want specific categories only to be available for deployment you should create a custom category group with the required categories and populate it either at location or product location level as per your requirement.
The Macro reads this category group and populates the ATD Receipts field in Planning book (this quantity is used for deployment) depending on the category and quantity available.
Their is no standard setting by which you can reduce the Safety stock quantity from the ATD quantity directly, you need to do certain customizations to modify the ATD quantity.
You can either reduce the Safety stock directly from the ATD quantity using the Macro functionality which I think is very difficult or you can put the quantity equivalent to Safety stock in the ATD Issues using development in Macro which i think should be the correct way to achieve your objective as this is the standard behavior in SAP.
Once you put the quantity equivalant to safety stock in ATD Issues it will reduce the ATD quantity by corresponding value.
Only check I think you need to build is that the ATD quantity is greater than Safety Stock before reducing the ATD.
    Thanks,
    Sanjog

  • ARD automatic push and/or pull installs?

I understand ARD pushing installs to computers that are online for ARD access.
However what I am interested in is having the client ARD pulling the updates, or ARD pushing the updates when the machine becomes available.
In otherwords I want to update my user laptops automatically when ever they access the local network.
I know there are 3rd party apps and servers that do this but I believe they are all BIG $$$. Such as Filewave.
    Any guidance would be great.

Can you make the task start when the computer becomes available?
With ARD 3, yes, for software installation tasks. Talk a look at Page 108, Chapter 8, "Installing Software on Offline Computers" in the Admin Guide.. If you don't have ARD 3 yet, you can download the Admin Guide here (clicking the link will download a PDF).

  • Stock Pegging Report for Vendor Stock in Subcontractor scenario

    Hello all,
As we know, CTM pegs the component inventory available with subcontractor when the parent FG demand drops in. Now, my requirement is can we extract a report that can give the details of all demands that are pegged to the stock?
    1. This report should be run in batch after CTM such that it extracts a snapshot of all demands pegged to inventory of components under "vendor stock".
    2. This report will give a clear picture to the supply planners about the inventory that is not pegged any demands and can take appropriate action as necessary if there are demands directly for the components.
    3. The report should be available in a tabular form listing each of the coomponent materail and the quantity that is pegged and quantity that is not pegged.
If any of you have worked on generating such report earlier or have any ideas to extract such a report, it will be highly appreciated. If my question is not clear and needs further explanation, please let me know. I can describe with examples and numbers.
    Thanks,
    Chandra

    Hi Chandra,
The closest report in terms of various building blocks (table, structure, FMs etc.) is /SAPAPO/DM_PEGKEY_REORG.
The inspiration can be taken from this report and a new report with ALV Grid can be bulit.
    Thanks and Best Regards, Manoj

  • Cannot create collective PO for pull scenario

    Hello,
We want to realize the basic distribution scenario (R43 in Retail Best Practice) which involves creating initial STOs from DC to stores and further creating collective PO. It looks like all basic setup has been done. Nevertheless the WF10 returns "No documents selected" error. Can anybody help please ?
    Best regards,

    Hi Oleg,
    Check the following :
    1. Supply source of the store must be "2" ( Internal).
    2. Supplying site must be assigned at the site master level, either at the site level or site/merchandise category level.
    3. Distribution profile in the respective DC ( based on point 2) must be Flowthrough ( Check config for the profile).
