App Server 9.1 - Where is the keystore.jks
Hi there
Been fiddling with this problem for a bit now.
I have installed the EE version of 9.1 and on the domain1, when I try to use the SSL listener it tells me that the certificate isn't valid. So, I went to the HTTP listener configured with security and noticed that the name of the certificate in use is called "s1as" . So far so good.
Now I want to add my own certificate ( a valid one, issues by a propa issuer and such ) into the keystore and change the alias name to use that one instead.
So .... where is the keystore.jks file that all the documentation is talking about ? Since the app server is already using a certificate ( with alias s1as ) I think it as got to be stored somewhere... but i just can't seam to find it.
This is what I got inside the config folder for the domain :
[root@server config]# pwd

Difference between using app server connection pooling and using the driver
Hi all,
How to get connection pooling with out application server and tomcat also?
What is the difference between using app server connection pooling and using the driver supported connection pooling?
Regards,
Muralimaybe the performance of App server pool is better than the JDBC pool,
for you don't know wether the implementation of the JDBC interface is good or bad. -

Running Sun App Server 7 and 8 on the same box
Hello,
Are there any known issues with running Sun App Server 7 and 8 in the same host box ? Currently I am encountering some class not found exceptions with Sun App Server 8 . Sun App Server 7 runs just fine.
Thanks,
Aswin. It's not advisable to run separate installations of
ColdFusion 7 and ColdFusion 8 single server on the same machine the
re are several services that will try to use the same ports.
However, you can install ColdFusion Enterprise using the
multi-server configuration and then deploy the J2EE versions of
ColdFusion to JRun. You can change the JVM that each instance uses
(we recommend the latest 1.4 for CF7 and the latest 1.6 for CF8),
and everything should run fine.
ColdFusion itself is essentially just a J2EE application, the
J2EE server itself is JRun 4. So the specific answer to your
question is "don't install 2 copies of JRun 4 to the same machine".
But yes, it's 100% possible, I'm running this configuration in my
own development environment. -
Hi,
I am working on a POC that is supposed to convert indd files to pdf (i.e. using of course the indesign server). Basically I want to call the IDS Web Service (located on a different machine perhaps), pass in the input file, the conversion script and retrieve the result as part of the WebService call?
Browsing the documentation, examples, etc in the SDK, I couldn't see how the above can be achieved without the client handling the file transfer. Surely I must be missing something ...
thanks
ChrisWhat do you mean with POC?
InDesign Server is too precious (i.e. license cost) to waste its time with file transfers.
For a smaller scale, let a separate process (some http or smb server) on the same server hardware handle the files - so that the InDesign Server can access them on the fastest local volume.
If you plan for bigger, use a dedicated server for file sharing (your choice of SMB, NFS or whatever), where the input files are prepared by the client process, so that your load balancer can immediately point the next free instance of the InDesign server farm to the file. In that case be prepared for some try and error - high speed file sharing can be tricky with files written from one side not yet visible or incomplete to the other side, locking problems, Unicode file name trouble, unexpected time stamps and so forth.
Btw, there is also an InDesign Server forum which would be more appropriate for such discussions.

Applications Server is a huge suit of software products, delivered in several different shapes (or, if you will, installation types).
Which one did you download?
Right one for what? What are your requirements? -

How to store the report output in app server local directory
Dear All,
I would like to store the reports output in the app server folder. How do i achieve?
I am using reports10g, app server 10g. I am using web.show_document to call the reports. I would like to the achieve the same using this web.show_document built in.
Thanks
BalajiHi,
using desname pointing to an path on the apps-server the output is stored there. But when opening before in browser, then this document is stored in temporary folder on the client and you can't store them then to the apps server (if you not map the apps server or use web dav to do that).

Can I run Servlets in the Sun App Server?
I am trying to run a servlet. I am not sure if I can run the same using the Sun app server. any help to clarify the following queries would be appreciated.
1. Should I have to specify a path in the environmental variables?
2. Is there a web site that tells me the same with respect to running the servlet on a Sun app server.
Thanks in advance.
--SrikantaI'm not sure what you want in regards to question, but I can assure you that you can run servlets in S1AS7. My recommendation is to just package your servlet into a web archive (war) and deploy it. You can deploy it via the commandline (asadmin) or the web based administrative client (likely http://localhost:4848). For more information on this I suggest reading:
http://docs.sun.com/source/816-7150-10/index.html
You must likely want to read the section on assembling and deploying web applications.

What does the Sun App Server Use as a web container?
Does the Sun App Server use tomcat? Or is it some derivative of Tomcat?
thanks for the info.Thanks.
Just to clarify for any others who are interested, heres the deal:
1) Package the static HTML files using the 'deploytool' (See Packaging Web Modules in Chapter 3 of The J2EE(TM) 1.4 Tutorial). This creates a .war file with the required deployment descriptors(?); anyway it creates a bunch of .xml files that have the right data in them.
2) Take the .war file and drop it in the 'quick deploy' icon (copies the .war file to the 'autodeploy' directory for the App Server instance).
Anyhow thats the drill.
Good luck. -
Is there a way to find the app server name through peoplecode?
The %appserver meta-html variable isn't available through peoplecode and looks like it only resolves when it is used as part of a page source (CNTL+J info page, for example). Our process server and app servers are different, and a user could be logged in through three different app servers. I'm hoping there is a way to get the equivalent of the %appserver meta-html sys variable.
Thanks,
PaulHi
Go to SAP Logon single click on your system and again single click at option change item..that will present at left side of your saplogon pad
you will get all the information regarding that system on which you have clicke first. -
Using the App Server DAS to access "my" MBeans on cluster servers
I am wanting to use JMX to access some custom MBeans that are on server instances that are participating in app server clusters. I figured the way to do this is by connecting to the DAS, but the service groups don't show within the DAS (like when using JConsole), I can access other AMX services, but not my custom ones. I can access my MBeans if I directly connect to the app servers.
Any ideas? I am trying to keep my jmx client from having to know physical location of the clustered servers, and only knowing about the DAS.
Thanks,
ScottHi,
I am not an Application Server expert so I won't be able to answer your question
directly - but maybe the article 'Managing and Monitoring Web Services in
Project GlassFish' could be of help:
http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/appserver/reference/techart/ws_mgmt.html
There's also the doc on docs.sun.com which you may already know:
Chapter 20 Using the Application Server Management Extensions
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-3659/6n5s6m5ck?a=view
If you still don't get your answer - you may also want to visit the glassfish project:
https://glassfish.dev.java.net/ (perhaps join its user's mailing list?)
or The Aquarium: http://blogs.sun.com/theaquarium which has lots of interesting
tips and articles.
Hope this helps,

JDK1.5.0_12 crash when I try to startup a tomcat app server with it.
Hi,
I am support a Blackboard application running on a PrimePower box.
Recently I installed JDK1.5.0_12 on the box. When I re-configured Blackboard to use the new JDK and tried to restart the server, the tomcat portion will keep getting the JVM Hotspot crash error as illustrated below.
The startup is invoked from a shell script that starts the web server as well as the tomcat (app) server. As long as the root partition has enough diskspace, the script will try to "start" the tomcat server.
The JVM will keep throwing core dumps and issuing messages like the following, with each core dump taking about 100 to 150MB in space from the root partition.
Only when there isn't enough space in the root partition for another core dump, did I notice that it stopped.
My sys admin has since cleaned up the dump files and I have reverted back to the earlier minor release of JDK1.5.0.
I have used ldd -r libjvm.so and the command could return me the list of libraries that the libjvm.so depends on (not a problem with the loading of the dynamic libraries and such).
I have submitted the JVM crash report. But no one has gotten back to me.
Has anyone encountered the same problems / have any suggestions on what could be cause and how to resolved this?
Thanks.
Regards,
Hon Peng.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried this on another machine running the same version of Blackboard. It works fine.
Only difference is that the machine that has the JVM crash is running on Fujitsu PrimePower and the OS is Solaris 9 (but twigged for PrimePower).
The one where it runs and starts up successfully is running on SunFire (OS is Solaris 10).
I am wondering if there is a problem with the JVM loading required libraries because of the OS being different versions.
Any leads on this is welcomed. Thank you.
Regards,
Hon Peng
