App Update Rejected because BundleVersion not incremented, advice???

I had an app rejected with the following message
{quote}
AppABC update cannot be posted to the App Store because the app's info.plist files do not reflect the current binary version. An update must have a binary version number greater than the previously submitted application. Please increment your CFBundleVersion keys in the app's info.plist in order for iTunes to validate that the latest binary is a new version.
{quote}
I had released a couple apps previously by incrementing the Bundle Version field in my info.plist file. This worked fine before. In this case, it was updated to 1.1 from 1.0...but still rejected
When I open my info.plist file, it has the incremented CFBundleVersion key. So I'm not sure what's wrong, just wondering if I'm missing something here as waiting for a response from apple sometimes takes a while! I'm also wondering do I really need the "CFBundleShortVersionString" string? This is listed on Apple's website for releases, but none of my other updates has ever included this and been fine.

You sure the info.plist in the file within the zip you sent has the updated value? I had a problem where the compress file option on my MBP doesn't always compress new files, unless I reboot the PC before compressing. Aside from that, perhaps they are enforcing the short string. I know that I didn't see that there when I first submitted but now that it's in the text, I added it to make sure I wouldn't be turned down.
Check into it- also they are wanting you to use this format now: 1.0.1 (ie, second minor version), so I made sure to match that format as well.
do they want the new format for the shortstring version? or for both?
Since we can't really release "Maintenance" releases, does this mean if I release version 1.2, I should also just include a short string version of 1.2.0? 1.2.1? Does is really matter?

  • App update rejected because it is downloading content?

    Hello,
    I have a strange situation with the app store approval process. I have 2 apps which I am updating one of them is simply a lite version of the former. The lite and full version share 99% of the same code the only difference is that the lite version has levels removed. The lite version was approved by the store. The full version was not. I was given this reason:
    Jan 16, 2012 03:01 PM. From Apple.
    2.23
    We found that your app does not follow the iOS Data Storage Guidelines, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.
    In particular, we found that the app downloads content and is storing too much data in the incorrect location.
    The iOS Data Storage Guidelines specify:
    "1. Only documents and other data that is user-generated, or that cannot otherwise be recreated by your application, should be stored in the /Documents directory and will be automatically backed up by iCloud.
    2. Data that can be downloaded again or regenerated should be stored in the /Library/Caches directory. Examples of files you should put in the Caches directory include database cache files and downloadable content, such as that used by magazine, newspaper, and map applications.
    3. Data that is used only temporarily should be stored in the /tmp directory. Although these files are not backed up to iCloud, remember to delete those files when you are done with them so that they do not continue to consume space on the user’s device.
    4. Use the "do not back up" attribute for specifying files that should remain on device, even in low storage situations. Use this attribute with data that can be recreated but needs to persist even in low storage situations for proper functioning of your app or because customers expect it to be available during offline use. This attribute works on marked files regardless of what directory they are in, including the Documents directory. These files will not be purged and will not be included in the user's iCloud or iTunes backup. Because these files do use on-device storage space, your app is responsible for monitoring and purging these files periodically."
    For example, only content that the user creates using your app, e.g., documents, new files, edits, etc., may be stored in the/Documents directory - and backed up by iCloud.
    Temporary files used by your app should only be stored in the /tmp directory; please remember to delete the files stored in this location when the user exits the app.
    Data that can be recreated but must persist for proper functioning of your app - or because customers expect it to be available for offline use - should be marked with the "do not back up" attribute. For more information, please see Technical Q&A 1719: How do I prevent files from being backed up to iCloud and iTunes?.
    It would be appropriate to revise your app to meet the requirements of the iOS Data Storage Guidelines.
    For discrete code-level questions, you may wish to consult with Apple Developer Technical Support. Please be sure to include any symbolicated crash logs, screenshots, or steps to reproduce the issues when you submit your request. For information on how to symbolicate and read a crash log, please see Tech Note TN2151 Understanding and Analyzing iPhone OS Application Crash Reports.
    I am using air 3.1 in both the lite and full versions. Neither version downloads anything nor does it create any files anywhere. The previous version was compiled with air 3.0 and there were no problems. Has something changed since version 3.0 that could be causing this situation I have?
    I've deleted and reinstalled the full version of the program on my iPod Touch while my internet was deactivated and it worked perfectly (downloading what??).

    Hmm.. When I asked the review team where the file was located they went ahead and aproved my app revision. I think the trigger must have been the local shared object. I modified my code as Saumitra suggested in his blog. Hopefully this won't be an issue the next update
    Thanks -Scott

  • Automatic app update notification in Store not wor...

    I had to reset my Lumia 720 two months ago after a failed attempt to update to Amber left the dreaded spinning cogs on my phone for more than two weeks. I managed to reset it and update it to Amber. Afterwards, i realised that the auto update notifications which usually appear in Store has seized functioning. It has hasn't worked to date though manual checks reveal app updates occasionally. Pls help me resolve this. Thanks
    Solved!

    Hi mui2g6,
    Did you installed a firmware via software? It seems to be the problem.
    Regarding the cogs, this is the solution, taken from another forum:
    ==========================================================
    After spending 8 hours trying to recover from spinning gears following a hard reset, of all the methods I tried, this is the one that worked:
    -Phone was showing spinning gears
    -Battery was low
    -Took Sim card out
    -I logged into find my phone and erased my phone using the on-line feature:https://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/my
    -Let it sit for 1 hour then turned it off
    -Press and hold the Volume down & Power buttons until the phone vibrates then release the power button but keep pressing the volume down key for approximately 10 seconds until you see a low battery on the screen.
    -If you don’t get the low batt and you get the Nokia lego then press the following buttons in this order;
    --Volume UP
    --Volume DOWN
    --POWER
    --Volume DOWN.
    -Your phone will now automatically reboot and try again till you get the low batt
    -When the low batt shows up do nothing, it will turn off by itself
    -Let sit for 1 hour and turn back on
    -Press and hold the Volume down & Power buttons until the phone vibrates then release the power button but keep pressing the volume down key for approximately 10 seconds until you see a low battery on the screen.
    -Plug your phone into the charger when you see the low batt
    -If you don’t get the low batt and you get the Nokia lego and go back to the spinning gears of death then press the following buttons in this order;
    --Volume UP
    --Volume DOWN
    --POWER
    --Volume DOWN.
    -Plug your phone into the charger when you see the low batt but not till you see it
    -Now press the following buttons in this order;
    --Volume UP
    --Volume DOWN
    --POWER
    --Volume DOWN.
    -Your phone will now automatically reboot it will show the spinning gears again but within 10 mins it will start up as a new device.
    ==========================================================
    Remember you have to download official upgrades from your carrier, otherwise the phone won't be able to show some features.
    Kind regards,
    careduro

  • Can't update IPhoto because application not found?

    I have had the latest iPhoto until yesterday when I did something dumb? then I couldn't open iPhoto anymore. I did create a new library, but discovered that the version of iPhoto I can now open is only a 2. Whenever I try to update to iPhoto 5 or 6, the screen says "you cannot install iPhoto update on this volume. An eligible iPhoto application was not found in the location / Applications/iPhoto.app" when I try to install it onto the hard drive. I'm an amateur at this and would surely appreciate some help. I don't want to be stuck with a version 2! I would also like to be able to import all my pictures back.

    Hi lori,
    From the beginning: We just bought this intel two months ago. I believe it came equipped with the latest iLife and therefore the latest iPhoto. The technician at the store booted up everything from our old broken iBook, which had older versions of everything (though I don't think the iPhoto was THAT early of a version.)
    Recently, I set up a new user and I tried to copy (drag over) my old photo library from my iBook backup file, because this new user didn't have any pix on its iPhoto. When I tried to do that, I believe the computer asked me some questions, like I'm agreeing to certain terms of iPhoto. I thought this was required process under a new user. I really didn't pay attention to it and just clicked 'agree'. Then I couldn't open iPhoto anymore because it said I had done some changes to iPhoto and needed to reopen with a later version. I read some of your other posts and tried to create a new library, which I succeeded in doing. But now it's version 2. Really strange and frustrating.
    I'm assuming that the latest iLife is on my computer already? We don't think our computer came with the CD/DVDs.
    I SURE appreciate your help thus far! It's all new to me.

  • How do you remove app updates if it is not your apple id

    The problem I have is that the app store shows one app that has an update for Angry Birds, I never downloaded the app and it is linked to an Apple ID which is not mine... and I don't know how to get rid of it.

    I have just the same problem with the update proposed for ANGRY BIRDS without having bought it. If I click on UPDATE I gez a dialog with an unknown russian user "[email protected]" - hopefully the account isnt attacked. I got in contact with the App Store officials but email support wasnt possible. I have to call to get help. We shall see whats coming out of this...

    Hello,

  • IPad app update automatic login will not change

    How do I change my apple id to update my apps for my ipad mini?  It remains my wifes login even though I am logged in with my apple id.  Is it a function of iTunes store?

    It is a function of the store, Apps are forever tied to the Apple Id that is used purchase an app. They are non-transferrable, so as long as you have the app that was purchased with wifes ID then her ID is required to update it.
    You can delete the app and then purchase it using your ID.

  • App update notification symbol will not remove

    I have a notification symbol (lback circle with red asterisk) on the top of the screen, under the date, on the Storm 9530.  I have upgraded to version 5.0.  I cannot seem to remove the symbol and all the applications appear to be updated.  I have tried to delete and remove the Quickpull app as it locks the system.  When I delete the Quickpull it also deletes App World.  When I then reload App World the symbol reappears and the QuickPull app shows as being archived.  Any suggestions?

    Open your Messages application (click the icon on the homescreen). Search through for an unread message from AppWorld (sorry, I can't recall what exactly it looks like). Delete the message and the notification icon will go away. If you can't easily find it in Messages, you might have to click the BBKey and select View Folders...then go one by one through all folders to find the message. Or you can use the Search function -- search for unreads from all message services. One way or another, you must find the unread message from AppWorld and delete it. Only then will the notification icon go away.
    Good luck!

  • I am having some apps updated but they will not update

    How to make it update

    Why do they not update?
    No one can help if you choose to provide no details.

  • App update will not disappear

    I bought my MacBook Pro refurbrished, and it has Angry Birds on the app update and it will not let me delete it or update it because it wasn't purchased with my eMail, any ideas on how to get rid of this notification? Cause the app is not on my Mac at all.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    First of all in no way should you download torrents without supporting the developers because without them the software wouldn't even exist.
    With that being said, download the "Twitter" app from the App Store. Then open your Finder Window > Applications > right click on "Twitter" > Show Package Contents > Contents > Copy _MASReceipt. Then go back to your applications and this time right click on Final Cut Pro X > Show Package Contents > Contents and paste the item there and replace it with FCPX's _MASReceipt. Once you've done that the "Sign into [email protected]" on your App Store should be gone.

  • App rejected because of button icons

    Hi everyone,
    My iphone app was rejected because "it uses standard buttons and icon for actions which are not their intended purposes." For example, I used the "Organize" icon as my "Save" button, and the "Bookmark" icon as my "Help" button. I am told to design my own button icon. Can anyone point me some resource to design those icons?
    Thanks,
    ff

    You too? I just got my latest app rejected with the same quibble, they said the camera icon can only be used to bring up the camera image picker.
    I was mildly miffed because I DO use it to bring up the camera image picker ... you just have to select a separate image for an overlay first. Apparently that's enough to confuse really stupid people. Or something.
    As for making non-standard icons, you're on your own. However, it only uses the alpha channel of the image you give it, so anything of vaguely the right shape scaled down should come out to something vaguely acceptable with a little mucking about.

  • Can I reject a app update

    How do I reject a app update that I did not purchase? It has a lot of bad reviews.

    But this lousy thing doesn't show in my Apps library. If it isn't in my Apps library, can't delete from there.
    I never installed this on my iPhone. Why am I getting an update notice? This feels like spam to me!

  • There is an app that I did not download in my update section.  I read reviews and it seems to be spy ware.  How do I get it from not showing up on my app updates?

    There is an app that I did not download in my update section.  I read reviews and it seems to be spy ware.  How do I get it from not showing up on my app updates?  I do not want to download or update it, obviously.

    If the app is G-Toolkit and you have a Gmail app on your iPhone, delete the Gmail app.  Apparently the G-Tool kit is tied to a Gmail app.  From searching the web my impression is that G-Toolkit is not spyware and is from a legitimate company that produces app for several platforms.
