App-V 5.0 client on terminal server: specific config (f.e. location files)?

Hi,
We installed App-v 5.0 SP2 client on a terminal server. I now wonder if we should have set specific install parameters on a terminal server.
We used: SETUP.EXE /q /ACCEPTEULA /CEIPOPTIN=0 /MIGRATIONMODE=1/ENABLEPACKAGESCRIPTS=1 /S1GLOBALREFRESHENABLED=1 /S1GLOBALREFRESHONLOGON=1 /S1USERREFRESHENABLED=1 /S1USERREFRESHONLOGON=1
Pls advise.

the command line parameters appear to be right, but you may want to have additional/other settings. However this could lead to a 'general RDS+App-V Design' conversation. Detailes then depend on your infrastructure (RDS with/without Citrix, User Profile Management,
AppData redirection and a bunch of other stuff. Again: using the above settings should lead to a working App-V client

  • VPN Client and Terminal Server

We have several clients that allow us to vpn into their systems and it has come to the point that we are getting software incompatabilities. What I am trying to do is set up "compatable" connections on a Terminal server box and let our people access this from their workstations. The problem is when the acuall connection thru the vpn client is made they loose connection to the terminal server. I have tried putting in 2 nic's into the terminal server and am able to allocate one for the terminal server but can not find a way to allocate the other to the VPN CLient. Is this possable or is there another way to accomplish this?
    Thanks

    Close,
What I have is one machine with 2 nic's
NIC #1 = Terminal Server Access (local lan only) Locked in via registry settings to use ONLY this NIC
NIC #2 = I would like to "LOCK" the Client software to use ONLY this nic (has a dynamic IP for local lan and access to the Inet via a router.
Problem: When you connect to the T-Server all is fine UNTIL you start up the client software to access our clients systems via the web connection to the T-Server on the local side stops and gives the appearance of a frozen screen.
manualy disconnect person from the T-Server and kill the cisco client software then you can re-connect to the T-Server (and it all starts over again)
The Cisco software acualy makes the connection to our clients system but we can not tell because it want BOTH the NIC's for itself and stops access via NIC#1 to the T-Server.

  • How to move client from one server to other at remote location

    Dear All,
We have two servers located in two different locations.Due to some network issues i am unable to do the remote client copy .
Please suggest how do i take client 100 to other server which is at different location and on different platform.
Source system is HP Unix Target system is on windows2003, database is oracle on both servers.
    Regards,
    Najeeb ..

    Dear Shark,
Please check whether you have set archive logs.
If you have set then please disable, it since it will increase size of /oracle/SID/oraarch.
then you need to take achive backup. so all the above please ensure that no archive logs are generated.
also check the size of PSAPUNDO and PSAPTEMP tablespace and if possible make its size large.
Have you enabled Automated Undo managemant. if your database is oracle9 then you need to manually provide AUM or else it is automatic in higher oracle DB.
Check the logs of Client copy using scc3.. all the best for all.

  • Open server socket in terminal server

my application needs open a server socket, but this app will be used in a terminal server environment, does anybody know in the terminal server case, if it's successful for multi-user to open a same server socket(eg:127.0.0.1:8080)?
    thanks,

yes, normally for server socket I think so, but i thought for terminal server every session for the seperate user point of view it's a different but identical connection. but seems i am wrong.

  • Terminal server user can't access B1 companies

Client has terminal server configuration, but is not live.  I can logon as administrator and then into B1 as "manager" and access the OEC company as well as my test or live companies.
I just created my first user account on the terminal server... "amy".  I logged onto TS as "amy" without incident.  I then launched B1 and logged in as manager.  B1 then presents me with the "Choose Company" window, there are no companies listed to choose from.????  why???
User "amy" is part of the "Administrators" group (for now) on the TS.
I can login as Amy and access SQL server fine
    logging in as 'sa'.
User 'amy' does not show as a user in sql server, but neither does "manager" or a B1 user I created in B1 called 'test'.  Since
I never created a user account within B1 for "amy" I would
not expect her to have a user id in sql, but I did expect to see a user for "manager" and "test".
We have already tried rebooting the server.
    Any suggestions?

Steffan - I have no idea where to go on ts to reset the "native client logon values" nor any ide how to do so.  i'll need some more guidance from you on this step.
Bishal - The user "amy" appears nowhere in sql.  not under sql/logins or database/users.  This makes sense to me though because i only created "amy" as a ts user account which i wouldn't expect to automatically create a sql user for "amy".
Gordon - The "use trusted connection" box was unchecked.  I went ahead and checked it and logged in as sa.  i immediately got an error msg....Login failed for user Headquarters/Amy.  Headquarters is the name of the domain at my client.  TS is part of the domain.  User "amy" also has a user account on the domain called "amy".

  • Tarantella error with W2000 Terminal Server

When I try to run a Windows application from webtop, the following error

    Ricardo,
I think the good question might be "which version of TTA are you
operating" ? The "tarantella version" will tell you the truth.
Not sure about the release which first saw the "tarantella tscal"
command; perhaps if was 3.40.911 but I'm not 100% sure.
Anyway, in earlier versions of TTA, TSCAL licenses were stored under
/opt/tarantella/var/wcp/license; try by having a look at this folder and
    also try by removing them.
I'm not sure if the above will actually "return" the licenses to the
Windows server but it's worth a try.

  • SharePoint site connection with Office Professional Plus 2013 on Terminal Server

    Hi,
    Background info:
We use multiple Office 365 E3 subscriptions (12 now) and also have an Windows Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server.
The users may install Office 365 Pro Plus on their local machines and are able to connect to SharePoint online with the Office applications. Now not everyone has a PC so they log in to one of the two Windows Server 2008 R2 Terminal Servers. I do
however want one big happy family working with SharePoint so I installed Office Professional Plus 2013 and tweaked the Group Policies so that the start up screen and movie arent beeing showed.
When I log in with my test user on the Terminal Server (who has a E3 subscription) I miss the feature to add a location (to connect to the SharePoint site). I just do not have that feature. When I log in with my domain administrator account who also
has an E3 subscription, I am able to add a connection.
There is SO much info on the web about Office 365/Terminal Servers etc but I am not able to find what I was looking for.
    Question:
What do I need to do so our Domain Users who log in to the Windows Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server are able to open/save files directly to the SharePoint site? How do I add the SharePoint location as shown in the image:

    Hi,
SharePoint would not exist when Office 2013 initial installed.  After you save a file to a SharePoint library for the first time, you can click
Save as you do for any file. Please try the following steps:
    1) Add the document (Word file) to a document library on a SharePoint 2013 site
    2) Click on the file within the SharePoint document library.
    3) Click open in Excel
    4) Save the file
    5) Close Excel
    6) Open Excel, select new Blank Workbook, File, Save As, "SharePoint" should now appear.

You should either go to the Terminal Services (RDP) forum or Office 365.

  • Cannot install Office 2010 on Windows Server 2008 terminal server

    Hello
I have a Windows 2008 terminal server which has Office 2007 Professional Plus on it. We want to upgrade it to Office 2010 Professional Plus.
Following steps from Technet, I made sure all users were out of the terminal server, then selected "Install Application on Terminal Server", then ran the setup.exe file for Office 2010.
The splash screen comes up for Office 2010 but then disappears and the install does not progress, although the setup.exe is still running in Task Manager. The "install Application on Terminal Server" window is still open, waiting for me to click
Next, Finish or Cancel and nothing else happens.
I also tried putting the server into install mode from command prompt and rebooting the server and re-attempting but no good.
How can I go about troubleshooting this issue?
    Many thanks
    Luke Dunster

    Hi Luke,
Are you  using a volume license version of Office 2010 for Remote Desktop Services/Terminal
Services? I may be wrong but I think that only this version of Office 2010 will work on a Terminal
Server. The Retail Version will just not work in this case.
I had similar problem where I tried to upgrade from Office 2007 to Office 2010 on a Terminal Server (Windows
    2008) but wasn't successful with the upgrade/installation.

  • Cpeaut32: error in formula  when print CR rpt 8.5 on terminal server 2008

I have had this similar error in the past when I tried to run an older version of cr (5.0) on a newer pc (xp)and then I had to update some dll's and register them.
Now the same kind of error but different versions of CR and pc software.--CR 8.5 and terminal server 2008
The error reads the same: error in formula (and then code from function in the report where the error occured). "A number, currency amount, boolean or string is expected here... "
The report runs fine on the older terminal server .  The program is a VAM application.  Any attempt to print report fails (using the preview, print or printer icons)
A solution for a similar problem ( from the sap library ) using CR 8.5 in a Citrix or Terminal Server enviornment was to copy all files from   <systemroot>\Crystal
    to
                                                      <systemroot>\System32
But before doing anything i wanted to find out if I needed to update some dlls.   or what is needed to detemine which dll's are causing the problem and what to do about it.

Cpeaut32 is very very old legacy SDK and will not likely ever work on newer operating systems. Upgrade to .NET to get support with recent OS's.

  • SCCM App-V 5 packages to terminal server/Windows 7/Windows 10 design

     Hi,
I would appreciate your input on a design question on App-V 5 on SCCM 2012 R2.
    Where we are:
We have Terminal Servers running with App-V 4.6 Clients for some years. The users on these Terminal Servers could only receive the App-v 4.6 packages (since the terminal server only had the App-V client)
Some time ago we started the rollout of App-V 5.0 packages to Terminal servers via SCCM 2012 R2.
In parallel we rolled out some App-V 5.0 clients to Windows 7 machines.
    What’s happening:
Users get App-V package meant for TS (licensed applications which should not end on clients) and they should not
     What we want:
deploy App-V packages (via SCCM) to W7 computers only, later we will deploy to users but for now our administration system doesn’t cover that
select which App-V packages to deploy to Windows 10 (when it’s there)
select which App-V packages to deploy to terminal servers (WKX)
uninstall of users/computers not in collections anymore
    ð
TTo achieve this we would create different deployment types of an App-v package with each a prereq “W7, Windows 10, Windows terminal services”. Then also we would create an uninstall mechanism (like this http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrdogs/archive/2014/11/03/managing-app-v-deployments-in-configmgr-2012.aspx)
Guess that would work, but wonder if you would see any flaws/issues
    in/with this setup?
    Thanks for your input.
    J.
    Jan Hoedt
Update: then also I wonder the supersedence within the application (with different deployment types), f.e. 7-Zip on terminal servers should be replaced but not for Windows 7. Would that work?

Uninstall is a bit of a concern too indeed.
    What I would do is
    f.e. 7-Zip Application-INSTALL, Deployment Types:
    *W7-Install prereq W7
    *WKX-Install prereq WK8R2, WK12R2
=> Deploy to Group "App-V-7-Zip", which has computers as well as user groups
    7-Zip Application-UNINSTALL, Deployment Types:
    *W7-Uninstall prereq W7
    *WKX-Uninstall prereq WK8R2, WK12R2
=> Deploy to Group "App-V-UNINSTALL" which has all App-V groups (such as "App-V-7-Zip")
    That's making sence, doesn't it?
Note: "It's probably a smart idea to not trigger an uninstall on a terminal server in every occasion." Why is that? Applications should be removed when f.e. groups are not part of the App-V-7-Zip.

  • Windows Server 2012 and win 8 app on terminal server

On a windows 2012 server, is it possible to install a windows 8 app that can be accessed (via terminal services/remote desktop) by client computers running prior version of Windows, such as 7, Vista and maybe XP? (Obviously without the touch capability).
In other words, can a  windows 8 app be accessed via terminal server by other versions of Windows or it must be only Windows 8?
Also, I read that the new RDC can also be downloaded from the Windows Store to a tablet, but what tablet? "Surface" , iPad, Android?
    Thanks so much
    CBJunior

    Hi,
Windows app store is only available on the windows 8 platform. So it is not possible to install a windows 8 app that can be accessed (via terminal services/remote desktop) by client computers running prior version of Windows, such as 7, Vista
    and maybe XP.
Also, I read that the new RDC can also be downloaded from the Windows Store to a tablet, but what tablet? "Surface" , iPad, Android?
It is available in the windows app store on Surface which is installed with windows 8 RT.

  • Swing app in JDK6 continues to rendering slow in Windows Terminal Server

    Hi,
Because Swing apps create interfaces internally and not using default OS APIs,
when running into a Windows Terminal Server client, there is no way to optimize
rendering. Windows Terminal Server and Linux FreeNX use a mechanism to send
to client only commands to render the windows. But, because the way Swing works,
not totally integrated to OS APIs, it's not possible for terminal servers to do this,
and these servers render Swing like images, something like VNC do, very slower than.
I have tested native apps and AWT apps, and the difference is very significant,
    something like 50-70% faster.
Is there some project in Swing APIs or java.net open-sources to better this?

We are also seeing this issue with a Compiere implementation. With 10 distributed sites across the US, our client wanted to use Windows Terminal Services to simplify the client desktop management of the Swing application.
But performance is terrible...and screen painting issues a real problem. We are also on JDK5 still, so I'm discouraged to see that JDK6 doesn't appear to offer much improvement?
Is there any project afoot to address this issue for installations using terminal services?
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Mac Client that can connect to Terminal Server Gateway

Anyone know of a Mac app that can connect to a remote computer via a Terminal Server Gateway?  The Windows version of MS Remote Desktop will do this but of course that is Windoz only.

You could try CoRD.  I don't know if it has the TS gateway option either, but it is an RDC client.

    Hi Kenneth,
Here for your case suggest you to configure RDP session time limit so that your user can disconnect\log off once the specific time limit reached.
You can setup the session time limit in different method.
    1. Open the Server Manager, select Remote Desktop Services.
    2. In Remote desktop Services, in right side you can drop down to collections.
    3. Select the collection which you want to edit the settings.
    4. Under collections Properties, select Task and then Edit Properties.
    5. In Properties dialog box, select Session.
    6. You can find all thetimeout settings under session collection properties; edit according to your requirements and then OK.
And apart also by group policy setting as below.
    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
    User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
    -  Set time limit for disconnected sessions
    -  Set time limit for active but idle Remote Desktop Services sessions
    -  Set time limit for active Remote Desktop Services sessions
    -  End session when time limits are reached
Please check which setting suitable for your environment and you can apply for your case.
